That's what I was wondering LOL

Also who cares if someone doesn't choose 15,000 characters when playing long sessions. After years of playing at a competitive level, I stopped playing tons of characters per game and actually stuck with 1-2 characters as mains.

Would you rather be good with 1-2 characters in a game or be completely mediocre with half the cast.

My Seth and Abel leveled up completely once I stopped playing random ass characters and focused on only them.

Also what is wrong with Plinking? It makes 1-2 frames easier to do, but you still need to be able to time/link combos. Plinking doesn't make combos guaranteed, just makes the frame window a smidge bigger. I personally don't use it, but a bunch of guys in my crew do.
What is plinking? Using turbo to make combos easier or something?
What is plinking? Using turbo to make combos easier or something?
It's a system in SFIV that makes hitting 1-frame links a little easier. Opens the window a little bit.

For instance for Ryu, let's say you want to do cr.mp, cr.mp xx Tatsu

Instead you can do cr.mp, cr.lp + cr.mp xx Tatsu. In SFIV the move with the higher priority will register as just that, so cr.lp + cr.mp will register as cr.mp.

Also for instance with Chun instead of doing cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.hp you can substitute as:

cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.mp + cr.hp (or cr.lp + cr.hp) to get the same combo.

How much easier does it make combos? Might have to mess around with it tomorrow. I have some trouble landing cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.mk xx mk scissor kick with Bison.
It's when you drop an air hockey puck in this little peg maze and based on where it lands you get a prize.

Yes.

For that you have to plink the cr.mk.

You would do c.lp - c.lp - c.mk ~ c.lk xx c.mk.

If you go to training mode and turn input display on, you should see something like
c.mk
c.lk+c.mk
-> c.mk

The important part is that you see c.lk+c.mk. If you see c.mk, c.lk then it's wrong.

It does take practice and some getting used to and it varies depending on which character you play on whether or not it's useful.

This.

I can totally see the usefulness of plinking but it just feels really awkward to me. Maybe I ought to give it another try but I don't know. I do however double-tap and that made a pretty big improvement when I started doing it.

Plinking mostly benefits 1 frame links. I don't know if that combo is a 1 frame for Bison.

It pretty much makes 1 frame links, 2 frame links.
I might pick up KOF13 if it has K'/Maxima/Kula.. always did like that team. Also.. please give Iori his regular moves back.. the whole rainbow nail scratching moves just don't do it for me. :\
Something tells me Iori still has his shitty moves. I wouldn't mind so much if they were more effective. Then again I'm not a huge Iori fan to begin with, so why should I even care...

Anyone check out the new changes on eventhubs.com? they used Ryu as a basis for a lot of changes it says, made Ken's dragon punches better, ryu can no longer super if there is a normal fireball on screen.

If you know what combos have 1 frame links, and your proficiency is over 80%, chances are good you're plinking.

When someone is doing c. mp x 2 to to c. hk and never messing it up, it gives you an idea

when you proceed to do c. lp x 2 -> hp -> EX with 100% proficiency, its an almost guarantee. obviously its "possible" to do this without plinking, but the easiest, most logical explanation is usually the correct one. So yea, you can tell.

As far as choosing 1 character, non-stop, it really depends on the competition. If you continue to beat someone into a bloody pulp with 1 character in a player match, i feel its a dick-maneuver to pick him AGAIN for the 20th time. If the matches were close, it would be one thing, but it was so lop-sided it wasn't funny.

If you wanna play like that, play championship mode. Player matches are for practice. When you constantly use the same tactics to perfect execution, I'd say that's hardly practice.

As far as picking one character over and over and over and over again, I find the game gets too boring too quickly if I stay with the same guy over a week.
Man... Cody is SO sick in SUPER.
do you mean the cody in the game

or unprotected_SEX

I'd rather be good with half the cast and GREAT with 1-2 characters.

Learning the "cheap" stuff with those other characters can really help your match-ups against them.
I just hope Ralf has moves... I felt like I wasnt doing anything when I played him :(
Looking at his move list he got his charging back/forward punches back, but that's it.

Updated US box art. I prefer it. Still think the DeeJay picture is goofy though.

Replacing Adon and Deejay with Cody and T. Hawk respectively would of made this abomination way better.

The cover art isn't that different from the old one. I really didn't have a huge issue with the original but this one is a little better I suppose.

I'm just about to hop on XBL if anyone would like to join btw.

1) Not sure where you are from or what your scene is like, but have you watched any high level or top players play? I've seen some do 1-frames without Plinking and some with. It's not impossible to do a 1-frame without Plinking.

2) Player Matches are indeed for practice. If you keep getting beasted by one character, isn't it practice to figure out to beat a high level _________. Why does someone have to change out characters. If I have trouble against one character, I will keep playing against that character until I figure out the other player and download his/her shit. The fact that the guy who played kept the same well executed strats/tactics says more about your play than it does about him. It being lopsided meant that you two were obviously at completely different levels. Would you have made the same comment if he starting picking a different character every other match and still beasted on you then?

3) I'm guessing your a completely Casual fighting game player and don't play competitively or at a high level if you change characters that often (and from some of the comments you made). If so, then none of what I said applies to you ever.

Is T Hawk's stage in a casino? Gotta be authentic, dig?

:rofl::rofl:That reaction alone was worth what I paid for it!:rofl::rofl:

Yes, it's true, I really did buy King of Fighters XII for the Xbox 360. BUT, it was only $4.50 at the local Movie Gallery that was closing down today. They had a 90% off sale on what they had left. Figured it was at least worth a try at that price. It's..... a fighting game. That's something, right? :/

At least I wasn't dumb enough to turn down Bioshock 2 for $5.

I got KOF XII for 30 and it was worth it. This was at launch time and I already got nearly 1200 matches in. Compare that to the 100 matches I grueled through on Blazblue to get a few trophies.

And the proper reaction after telling us you bought KOF XII is this.
For under $5 KoFXII is worth it... id get it t that.
I'd rather take that money and invest in a good meal. At least I'd enjoy that.
I'd rather take that money and invest in a good meal. At least I'd enjoy that.
Seriously. Even though in the end, that meal becomes shit just like KOF XII, at least it was good at one point.
I'd rather take that money and invest in a good meal. At least I'd enjoy that.
What are you gonna get for five bucks? Five McChickens? Are you going to enjoy it because of the time on the crapper? I'd pick up 2nd and 3rd copies of KOF XII at 5 bucks. Too bad my Gamecrazy is actually successful so all the crap gets sent there.

Actually, I was implying that I would put it towards a good meal. But I guess if we're staying within the $5 limit, there's a local Mexican restaurant that has a pretty bad ass nacho plate for $4.99. Or I could get 3 al pastor tacos and have change left.

. . .I'm fucking hungry now.

Eh. For five bucks I rather get a taco truck buritto and a fountain drink. Now that's eats. But KOF 12 gave me enough entertainment that I wouldn't regret it even at full price.
