Yeah, maybe. I think it's just gaming in general. Just part of growing up, getting a job, that kind of thing. I still enjoy games but I'm way less hardcore about them. I'm more patient (buy almost nothing at release) and just play a few hours a week now.

Super will be fun though.. I just don't think that I'll be looking up frame data and participating in tournaments (for example). Looking forward to playing with you guys and real-life friends though.

With that said, I really wish they would release Soul Calibur 2 and Tekken Tag on XBLA / PSN. I feel like I'm more interested in playing older games then learning new ones.

Jimbo, thanks for the VF5 offer, I was just curious about the game because of the GameStop b1g1 a couple weeks ago... but I mulled it over for too long and missed the sale anyway. :lol: If I think about getting into the game later though I'll hit you up!

Meanwhile, anyone got a wireless 360 headset they need to unload? I'll probably just end up getting a slightly used one on eBay. I wanna chat in some SSIV lobbies and my custom USA stick doesn't have a jack for the wired mic!

lol, I have a bunch actually. Have since I was about 19 (24 now.) Students always ask me why I have gray hair if I'm young. It's pretty funny.

Looking forward to it! MIA will happen sometime when I have more than $40 in my bank account. Maybe if I get a contract position for next semester, over Christmas break.

Tired as fuck... I've got a large portion of my art installation done and will be done with most of it tomorrow. I spent over $125 on new clothing for opening night to look fucking good... and I'm more use to spending $20 on a whole gettup normally :lol:

I'll post vids of the pugs and the installation once this weekend is over.
 
Oh yea, for those who wondered about the Hori FC3. Here's a pic of it...

IMO, not as comfortable as the Mad Catz fightpad. But I do PREFER SNES/cross style dpads. I've tested it with Super SF4 and TEKKEN 6 and it works very well. It should be noted that thumbs style is easy as the buttons are bigger (a lot bigger than the X360 EX2 pad).. the buttons are actually the same size as the Mad Catz fightpads lol.

This is officially licensed by Sony but I have not checked if it works with PS2 games in BC mode yet. I will check tonight.

I was able to do 360s, srk fadc ultra with Ryu, Vipes sjc shit np on this thing. Charge motions weren't too bad and I could consistently jump in combo into buffalo xx ultra with Rog...

That's my mini review so far. Good job Hori.
 
How loose does the d-pad feel? The ideal for me right now is still the Saturn pad, but that's partially because the d-pad doesn't feel totally cemented in place... does that make any sense?

The dpad isn't loose at all. It has some play (it's the exact same dpad in the Hori EX2 turbo pad), but it is nowhere near a Saturn style floating dpad.

Guile:
- He is the only character that has his charge time altered
- Guile High Kick buffed, can do stuff like Guile High Kick -> EX Flash Kick, and can be included in a combo as well
- He can combo Sonic Boom and Spinning Back Knuckle
- Sonic Boom's charging time has been buffed
- They mention Guile may have been gone up to "mid tier"
- Glasses

Dhalsim:
- He doesn't have nerfs regarding "numbers" (I think they mean damage)
- Buffed his normal throws
- Yoga Spear and Yoga Mummy is buffed somehow
- EX Yoga Fire will go all the way to the other side of the screen

Boxer:
- Altered specials priority (They specifically explain that Dash Upper and Dash Low Smash was hard to perform in vanilla SF4, and some more)
- Things about Dirty Bull that it is a throw Ultra which is weaker than Violent Buffalo damage-wise, but will give stun

Claw:
- Piece of Mercury is mid attack
- They altered the number of times he needs to get hit to have claw and mask removed
- They buffed every special move:
- Scarlet Terror now has throw invincibility
- MP Rolling Crystal Flash will force opponent to block till the end, so you won't feel worried about ppl mashing invincible specials in between roll hits
- His U1 will launch opponent on the way to the wall
- His U2 could be easier to utilize than U1
- Almost no chance for using Remove Claw by mistake, unless you're spamming crouch attacks

Sagat:
- Well, damage nerfed
- j.MP will now have less active frames
- Scar special (Angry Charge) will buff Tiger Uppercut, it'll have more damage and will have more chance of comboing in the air

Dictator:
- Psycho Crusher can cross-up (Hitting them with the tail)
- EX Psycho Crusher buffed in terms of cancelling out fireballs

I keep reading this and really have no idea what the hell it means. Could one of you charge experts explain how the hell you buff the time of a charge, like does it stay longer or come out faster I just don't get it.

I assume "buffed" means "made better," so I guess that would be less charge time?? I've always been a "high-end casual" player (i.e. I'd choke in a tournament but my non-fighter friends think I'm amazing) so a lot of the terminology escapes me.

Anyways I just pre-ordered SSFIV (Amazon $10 game credit, yay CAG) and bought a wireless headset, so I'm ready to dive right into some XBL action fully armed once that hits. Life has kinda kept me busy for a while but now I'm ready to start being an XBL bum again!

Bingo, that's exactly how they "buffed" it.
 
Those changes are translated from the Capcom SSF4 Japanese blog. It is in fact a shorter charge time but they don't say exactly by how much.

I would have loved to have seen that charge altering as a universal change to all charge characters, but I can see how it'd be really unfair for some characters (ie: Bison throwing out safe scissor kicks even faster, Balrog being able to pressure even more with max range dash straights or use reversal headbutt quicker). I'm sure it'll help Guile a lot but may totally screw with charge times if you play Guile and ANOTHER charge character.
 
I am so fukking excited about dash upper/dash low smash being fixed. Absolutely retarded that if the game registered a down-forward notation, its always going to do the down-forward move, regardless if you hit the button at forward.

I just hope the fix the whole Overhead -> cr.LK/cr.MP -> Headbutt completely whiffing/not comboing on certain characters. I doubt it though.
 
its the hit box on certain characters. theres videos on you tube and srk showing the combos you do on specific characters.

they also show moves that force opponents to stand up when crouching

Every character has something like that. I know Abel can't do step kick -> standing fierce on every character. Against Honda, it only works at max range or some stupid crap.

I don't think it's something that would need to be fixed... just part of playing matchups differently. Thats the fun part of learning matchups-- learning what works against certain characters that normally wouldn't work (or work as well).

I realize that. I've got the full list and a pretty good understanding of what works & what doesn't but it's sometimes annoying.

I'd join but I suck balls... unless Cody is a character I can finally feel comfy with since 95% of the characters in vanilla SFIV I don't enjoy 100% playing as unlike Tekken where I at least can find 5 I'm comfy with.
 
Well.. I doubt many of their players are good. An update on the tournament: 16 teams of 3 people, Xbox 360 only... it seems for now anyway. Characters must be posted about a week before the beginning of the tournament. The tournament starts in about a month.

You can join with me if you want. You said 95% of the characters, so that leaves 1 character that you don't completely hate? :]
