I think it always says OOS because it's a pre-order. Said it for me but I ordered it anyways. Credit card has been charged, too.

Too bad SE NA doesn't import the 5-disc LE version of the soundtrack. I want that instead.

On the positive note, the regular edition at $30 is cheaper than importing it from Japan yourself.
Nope but square enix has put the soundtrack up on their american site and theres the hardcover CE guide. So other than a sticker you arent missing much.
STUPID.

How a company with an AWESOME game franchise like that don't want the oppertunity to make more $$$ by doing a CE?

Lol, since when has any of the FF games had a CE other than XII (and that was a GameStop thing) in America? It's not like this is anything new.

The point is, it's Popular and people would LIKE one.

But realistically, we are not going to buy anything for any price.

They could just add an Artbook and be like $30 more, which is a rip off.

You need at least a steelcase, some DLC content, Bonus disc with BTS features, music, maybe action figure, etc to make it worth the $.

Would've loved a CE, but I have the LE soundtrack and the guide and ordered the faceplate from Best Buy. so, I suppose that'll suffice. I just want the game now!

Just curious, why didn't you go with the CE from Europe since you kind of went all out. You know, it is just a few dollars more :p

I pre-ordered the CE from Europe but i'm having second thoughts about it and might cancel. After looking at the contents I dont know if 100+ is really worth it. Might just get the regular edition.

Very good point. I guess I didn't spring for the EU LE because I'd have the full soundtrack, not the single-disc sampler, I have an art book from the LE soundtrack (w/ Amano's art), I'll get the LE guide and I figure the faceplate is more useful or interesting than the L'Cie sticker.

Besides, my inner struggle is still with the 360 bundle. Just because of the avatar stuff. Other than that, it's just a 360 with a big (FFXIII branded) HDD. But, still, I might needs it.
The FFXIII branded HDD in the bundle is pretty sweet. Probably some nice resale value there in the future.
Yeah, but how often do you look at the top of your HDD? I'd much rather have the faceplate.

So... how many people own a PS3 and 360 and are only getting the (so far as we can tell) inferior XB360 version because of achievements?

*raises hand quietly*
Cheapest shipping is like 1700 yen which is about $20? So you are looking at around $75 for the LE soundtrack.
I was hoping that CDJapan was telling the truth when they said they were reducing shipping charges. Nope. 3100 yen for the cheapest *real* shipping option on that. US 4-disc version it is...

LOL - it's kind of sad that the 360 version is the "inferior" version yet Square is attempting to push this installment of FF onto the 360 platform in the U.S. Personally, I think if it does turn out to be an "inferior" version then SE will be losing quite a bit of money.

I myself am getting the PS3 version (though I own both consoles) as it has pretty much been my gaming console of personal preference.

How so? With certainty MS is covering a portion of the costs. That's why the PS3 isn't even mentioned. Unless we know the certainty of the deal in getting FFXIII to the 360, we can't say whether or not it was shrewd. For all we know the deal could have been that MS would completely reimburse them for advertising, in which case, how could it possibly hurt square.

...but Ps3 has trophies? Are you really that much into getting achievements? That you would get the "inferior" version?

True -- I forgot just how deep Microsoft's pockets were. In any case, the years of anticipation finally come to an end real soon. Can't wait to dive into this RPG! :)

I've asked this question in various places, still no response.....I'll try here....has anyone watched that 5th disc in the LE soundtrack? The Episode Zero? I'm hesitant to open it. I suppose I should check youtube.

It's a sickness, I know. I don't think I've ever gone for a cross platform game on PS3 over XB360. Although this is the first time that I can remember when the XB360 is getting the short end of the stick on the "which version is better" area. I guess that decision to not include HD-DVD drives in the Xb360 at launch was going to bite them in the ass eventually :bomb:

Eh I don't blame you for choosing the 360 version. It really just boils down to which system you've had longer and play more often. If I were to get a 360 now, I would still buy Bayonetta on the PS3 because my trophy count to date would be greater than my achievement count.
i'm super hyped for this game. my ps3 has been getting a lot of love lately and march is going to be no exception.
No kidding. I got the ps3 half for blu-rays, half for games, last april. Honestly, it was 90% for blu-rays at that time. New 1080p tv and I had to use it. Been playing a few more here and there, demon's souls and uncharted 2, but suddenly it's an influx.

I bought darksiders on ps3 because it ran better when the game launched, dante's inferno because it runs the same on both and it has minor extras. Then we have WKC, heavy rain, gow III and FFXIII of which I'm getting on ps3. Only bayo and ME2 on 360 this year so far, but more coming up soon!

Man, the things I could have done with this money...=/

Don't worry, the porn industry will understand.

Count me in the group... I don't really collect trophies (my Demon's Souls platinum being the exception), and don't mind the slight differences I've seen in the comparison pics.

I play every multiplatform release on the 360 due to achievements and controller preference. But the difference in this game is just too big. I'll be playing it on the PS3. And with capcom saying they cut a t on of content for lost planet 2 due to the 360s dvd restrictions, I think this is something that will start happening all the time.

I think the LP team was just trying to create hype for their game and brag that they filled the disc. It also helps as an excuse for selling more DLC.

That said, the PS3 exclusive games that use the extra space are starting to really shine.

sort of off topic concerning each platform, but it really bothers me that i cant transfer my save between ps3's. that almost made me order this for the 360.

Not the fact of achievements/ trophies that made my decision, its the fact that i own every other final fantasy on a playstation console, including the re-releases on ps1. I just don't want to break that trend.

They're pretty drastic differences I'd say. I would assume by your avatar, that you would want the best presentation available for a FF game.
Capcom could have just included a second disc for Lost Planet 2. That was a silly decision/comment on their part.
MS charges higher licensing fee if you include more than one disc.

I'm in the same boat. I love collecting achievements but I never once cared about getting trophies. I'm thinking about getting this for 360 for 3 reasons. 1. I think the ps3 controller is so out of date and I hate using it whereas the 360 controller just feels perfect (minus the dpad) 2. Achievements (I know it's silly) 3. I made the dumb mistake of supporting Sony and buying a 20gb launch system and now I'm getting screwed with all these mandatory installs.

but there's no install in FFXIII.

Really? I swear I had heard there was. Maybe I'm getting it mixed up with Heavy Rain but I thought I had heard that for both of those games. If that's the case I might be rethinking this a little more.

Either way this is one game I'm not preordering. There will be no shortage of it and I want to see what the reviews say.

Heavy Rain does...something like 4GBs. FFXIII and GOWIII wont.

Doh, really? I was /hoping/ that installing was at least an option...

"Amazon.com-Exclusive Pre-order Bonus
Pre-order Final Fantasy XIII and get a PDF of select pieces from the game's official strategy guide. A link to the PDF will be emailed within 10 business days after the release date. Offer valid when shipped and sold by Amazon.com. Promotion valid on all existing pre-orders. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time."

I was really excited when I read the first line, then I was like, "Um....OK..." So I'm guessing it's the GameStop miniguide scanned. (Or could be different pages, but basically the same thing.) I love the fact that a link will be mailed within 10 days. Even the $10 credit will be posted within 2 days.

Either way, wish places were giving out real bonuses. Crisis Core, Dissidia, 358 Days/2, and even Crystal Bearers all got at least something decent.

That is a pretty lame bonus. That stuff will be up on the net in minutes. I'd rather have a few dollars taken off the game.

Not really.

Slightly better resolution on PS3, slightly better framerate on 360. Six of one, half dozen of the other.
