FORZA Motorsport 2 - Gen Discussion - March Pack Due 3/19 - 400pts - 13 New Cars!

I had one slowdown issue, but that was online and 6 people in front of me were piledriving into the wall at the end of a hairpin. Fun times.
Concerning the ability to change your region:

I'm guessing the discounts on car purchases wil carry over to the new region you pick right? So I can switch back and forth without any problems, save for the 100,000 Credit it costs?

Does the credit amount for switching back and forth change each time (increase) to discourage constant changing or is it 100k everytime?

I can't believe that the current next-gen systems have a hard time rendering smoke. Take Call of Duty 2, a 18-month old game; smoke was everywhere in that game, and it didn't seem to effect gameplay.
.
There are so many variables it would blow your mind, you can't really compare things like that because the games are doing totally different things. It's not like there is a 'smoke chip' on the motherboard or anything...

I always assumed you would lose your discount being you are not "sponsoring" that country anymore.

I don't watch the replays in Forza 2 much, but I doubt there's that much smoke in the game. There should be an option to turn in off, to protect framerate, then.

I also have a small fan to cool my 360 area down.
It's all about quality of smoke. COD2's smoke effects were rather basic. Just essentially zooming sprites, not much in the way of particle effects. Not to mention the rest of the game, which really didn't push the 360 that hard.

These smoke comments are kind of silly. (not just you) There is no 'smoke button' the programmer pushes to create smoke effects. Usually there are 3 -8 people on a game who's job it is to create effects like smoke. With th constant pressure to push the visual envelope to keep gamers impressed, they are constantly coming up with new particle and shader systems, and tuning them just right to try and get that balance of performance and visual appeal just right.
Any chance people are gonna still be playing this game, come mid July? That's when I'll get my Xbox Live back.
I haven't even touched online yet. So I think it is a strong possibility.

Well, just tried to drive the Shelby GT500 ('68 i think or '65)...and yeah, i had to upgrade so that i was about 50 points (higher than the second fastest car in order to win. A lot of wheel spin, so STM was on along with ATC. Medium difficulty...bah. I'll definitely be passing up the older cars.
Wow, I can't drive the Lingenfelter Corvette worth jack shit.
Same here. I was trying to do the corvette manufactuer race. But I can't do nothing with it. I got frustrated and just gave up.

And have you tried the old Ford GT40? That is one tough cookie to handle.

Not yet, but I'll be sure to expect some hell from driving it then.

I skipped the Corvette races except for the New York track, which I managed to pull off with some rear bumper damage as I got rear-ended at the start by the computer for accelerating too slow, in fear that I might fishtail.

what?? thats a gerat car. i love it. right now its at S904. i can drive this bad boy. you just need some time with it. the one i cant handle is my dodge charger. this is a MONSTER!!!!!!! 1097 hp with 879 torque. now thats crazy.

give the shelby some time and love, and it will grow on you

I find the upgraded Guldstrand is a monster but as long as I don't make any mistakes it is pretty amazing.

Out of curiosity...whats the fastest car in everyones garage? Mine is a Nissan that i won during some championship. Upgraded it to a S890 i believe, topped out at 211 mph on the Nissan Speedway track...

im currently borrowing this game from a friend and even though im having fun with the painting and stuff i i totally suck at the racing part so can somone ? PM me hints on how not to suck at it? IE not crashing into the wall on everyturn....

Turn on the driving lines if you need help with that, to learn at least.

Ironic that one of the few rear wheel cars I can manage any sort of success with is my 1000+ hp monster of a Charger. That and the 2007 Shelby Gt500 are the go to rwd cars for me right now. Once I finish the shield for my Barricade Decepticon clone on the GT500 i'll be selling them.

left trigger = brake
he must have been using "A"
Seriously, for the most part, sliding = bad.

"Going sideways" is a no-no :D

Looks like i'm 27% with Exhibition and 64% for Time Trials, Level 27 in Career with 300k credits.

I can't even touch those tournament times though, tried so hard for a while and never managed to lessen my time by 2 seconds for the B class tourney.

I got my wheel from ebay today, and man it's fun! My wife's addicted to the racing wheel now, lolllllllll. Anyways, yeah I haven't even touched the online part either, surprisingly. The single player experience is that good.

I tried to qualify for that first race weekend with the Corvette.. That shit is INSANE. I must've been like 5 seconds too slow at my very best.

its mad fun if you can drift it right, especially if you have a huge lead. Drifting the final turn on the new york circuit is great. I still dont hit the e-brake when i do it though

There's a lot of complaning on the Forza boards about tourneys. Namely that there should be some sort of amateur series as well. Clearly, a majority of players are getting nowhere close to the times needed.

my new favorite car, a black on black audi TT. This thing is a beast. Beats all the lambos and other exotic cars in the class.

this one I just took to show off the finer details of the game.

My starting car was the Audi TT and it's currently my favorite car too.

Nice Mini, I haven't even tried to paint my own cars because I know I'll suck at it.

If anyone tries out the switching regions, please post. I only got as far as the confirmation screen and it said something about locking out the ability to buy the cars I've unlocked in my current region.

What do you guys think about simulation tire wear and fuel consumption? I was dicking around with the options and turned the AI up to Hard when I noticed that option was docking me 5% for having it off.

Do it. The only time it matters is on endurance races. I was getting about 2% tire wear/lap in the GT500.

I wonder if they are going to add the ability to import decals and such or possibly offer them as DLC later on? I mean, we could easily pop in a thumb drive with certain file types with out own decals. Though i wouldn't mind being able to download a decal pack for the game if it was free or priced fair (ha).

Unless they limited them to personal/friends list use, this will never happen.

reason? one word: Porn

Great point. So i guess the only other option would be the DLC, but that would probably have to be a mandatory update...which should be fine. Better to have a small (few MB at the most) update that everyone downloads.

I switched from Asia to Europe yesterday. Basically, what it does is transfer all of the things to the other region. All your discounts, etc. It's as if you started the game in that region. Also, you lose nothing in your garage. The only thing you lose is the ability to buy some cars from your previous region because you haven't unlocked them in your new region yet. No big deal though.

The price for changing regions is steep though. $100,000.
The price for changing regions is steep though. $100,000.
I've saved up nearly 3,000,000 Cr. so far, so that's not too bad. I need some European cars for the higher end race classes and I think paying the fee still gives me the cars cheaper since I've got 50% off on my current region. So it stays at 100,000 Cr. constantly if you decide to go back right? It doesn't increase with each region change?

I think that is pretty amazing. I couldn't care less whether it actually looks like whoever it's supposed to be or not.

I saw the Alba design in the original forum (forzamotorsport.net), and the creator based it on how she looked in the movie "Sin City"

From what I hear, it starts out at the base of 100,000 CR, then ups itself to around 500,000 CR from every time you switch regions.

I heard it on GameFAQs, so I may be wrong.
