Forza Motorsport 3 - Out Now!

I thought the demo was very impressive. The game is gorgeous (Will it be better looking than GT5? Of course not), and it plays just like I'd expect a sim racer to play.

The demo is missing the biggest draw to Forza over GT5, and that's the paint editor and auction house. That's the biggest selling point to me.

I don't think its fair to compare Forza to GT5, when GT5 obviously has the upper hand and more experience making a true racing sim. For the Xbox though this is the best sim hands down.
It is still a video game, meaning the feeling you get when going 120 mph or whatever is certainly not the same then let's say going 65 on I-95...

I have driven cars at speed around a race track and the gut feeling you receive from 'racing' obviously cannot be simulated through a game to 'feel' it physically so doing it visually is a nice way to show you - hey something freakin' exciting is happening, pay attention to the road...'
Yah, true true. I don't think we will ever get that experience unless your in the car IRL. No video game will represent it ever in our lifetime at least.
Except that there is a sensation you feel that isn't easily represented in games, which Shift does a good job of capturing.
Meh, I just don't think Shift is all that great and everybody is praising it so much cause of the in car view. I don't know, I just don't like it. So what ever ya know?

I will say this, I am disappointed they didn't add a shifting animation for when you pick manual. Sure it's something so little, but something I would have liked to have seen from the in car camera.

To put it quite honestly... if that were true, I'd still be a PS/GT fanboy.

I FINALLY downloaded the demo, thanks university internet! It seems like the same old which isn't a bad thing. If they can make it less repetitive it'll be a great game.

I could never stand GT games. It's way too sim for my liking. Forza is a sim/arcade hybrid and much more fun. And hey, least we actually get a game, not a demo!

I keed, I keed.

But really...

I just placed my order for the game from yourfree360games.com and I'm pretuu excited for this one. I got Forza 2 for free when it first came out from a charity Bingo game at a ramdom bar in SF.

I've always hated racing games but fell in love with Forza 2. I actually put it back in today to try and get some more achievements and my play time was at just over 50 hours.

Is there any word on if this game will have split-screen local multiplayer? I really hope it isn't online-only for multiplayer, but I see no mention of it in the description at amazon.

I expect this game to drop quickly, so I'll be waiting. I got Forza 2 at release, but still have a lot to do in that game. The Forza games are the only realistic racers I've enjoyed, though, and I've bought the first 2 entries into the series.

Exclusive cars for people that buy new.

Turn 10 doesn't want you camping out at the GameStop and waiting for the first trade-in of Forza 3. Microsoft has announced launch-day incentives in the form of exclusive DLC, packed in for new purchasers. Those who acquire Forza 3 new will get access to two extra race tracks, Benchmark High Speed Ring and Sidewinder Proving Grounds, as well as the Legends Car Pack, a bundle of 10 classic automobiles.

 • '65 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA
 • '64 Aston Martin DB5 Vantage
 • '81 BMW M1
 • '60 Chevrolet Corvette
 • '69 Dodge Charger
 • '57 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa
 • '80 Fiat 131 Abarth
 • '67 Lamborghini Miura P400
 • '71 Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R
 • '65 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe
It remains to be seen whether these downloads will eventually become available for purchase on the Xbox Live Marketplace. For now, the content can only be acquired through an in-package token, shipping with new copies of the game on October 27th.

Ok... so, wtf do we have to do to get the release day DLC?? The first sentence makes my head broken. I have it pre-ordered on amazon with discounts, I'll assume I'm going to get screwed.

I'd imagine theres a one time use code bundled with the release. Companies do this to encourage gamers to purchase new copies of the game instead of preowned. For example, Gears of War 2's Flashback map code or EA with everything.
I don't understand, don't you have it pre-ordered from amazon? you wouldn't be affected by this lol
I took it as unless you pay $60 you won't be getting the code.

In the Storefront, you can purchase designs for specific cars or decals usable on any vehicle you own. Prices are set by the designers, as are the number of copies for sale. If someone wants to make a unique piece of art and sell it for 30 million credits, they can. And if someone wants to sell a limitless supply of Autobot decals on the cheap, that is also their choice. A ratings system helps create a leaderboard for designers, which you can search to find the biggest stars in the community. You can flag anyone as a favorite so you can easily browse their store for the latest designs.

Fortunately, the "rewind" feature eliminates the need to have to redo an entire race because of a schizophrenic opponent. Errors can be remedied on the spot, and as a result, Forza 3's physics seem slightly more challenging. Errors on the track, especially at high speeds, can be difficult to correct. Once things start to go pear-shaped, they tend to continue going that way. But unlike other games, Forza 3 doesn't put a limit on the rewind feature, as you're welcome to use it as many times as you like without any detriment or experience reduction. While sim purists may scoff at how easy the young whippersnappers have it these days, redoing an entire series because of a single error simply isn't fun for anyone.

Can't wait to make more pixel art cars like I did with Forza 2:

From what I can tell, if you buy it brand new you get the code for the DLC. I don't think it really matters how much you paid as long as its a brand new copy.

Its basically just what they did with Gears, its to cut down on all the used sales apparently.

Ok I seriously don't know why an exclusive skin on a car is a good deal for pre-order bonus since you'll probably race with many others since there are like 400 cars in this game.

Looks badass.

Any CAGs want to play online on launch day? I can't wait to get my hands on the new STi and 370z. I loved tweaking my 350z in Forza 2 so that I could learn how to drift it.

Loved the demo. at first the physics felt slightly off, but as i played it more it started to feel a lot more solid.the addition of a clutch was one of my favorite additions, i was especially impressed because you can even heel-toe(finger-finger?) downshift, which adds an extra element of skill. dont really care for the rewind tho. it doesn't bother me that its there, i just wont be using it. Id rather be punished for my mistakes so i learn not to do it again, than having an easy do over.

I'm up for it but I'll be working the afternoon shift, and just for extra suckage I have to work on my birthday .

Picked it up earlier, wasn't going to so close to release but I couldn't help it. It's pretty good but for some reason I prefer Forza 2. The game seems to be missing something but I can't explain what.

Some how I couldn't take those guys seriously but I did like some of the info about the sim racers world. I added it to my Podcast list.

I couldn't make it through the whole thing. Does this game have (did they mention or does anyone know if it has) split-screen multiplayer? For that matter does Forza 2 have split-screen multi-player? Also, do people still play Forza 2 online?

Both Forza 2 and 3 have 2-player split-screen multiplayer.

Bring That Corner Back: One of the most helpful features in Forza Motorsport 3, the option to rewind a race a few seconds at a time, letting one correct one's mistakes, was also the one instrumental to me learning how to drive properly. Had I not had the opportunity to attempt a problematic corner again and again and again, without having to revisit the entire race, I'd have quickly lost the desire to compete. Rewind is a wonderful feature, a welcome addition to a simulation driving game that eases the frustration of that one botched chicane. Granted, rewind can't be used in multiplayer games, so drivers can't rely on it to fix every little mistake in Forza 3.

Looks like I won't be on until the evening around 8pm PST. But I'll be staying up all night switching off between studying and gaming, so send me FRs if you'd like to play.
I'll be on LATE tonight if anyone wants to play, I can't f'n wait. Menik I'll add you.
Accepted your FR, still waiting on the damn UPS guy.

Post impressions of Forza 3 versus Forza 2.

I want to get Forza 3 eventually, but I felt I hardly scratched the surface of Forza 2 (achivement wise and overall gameplay wise) I just wanna know if Forza 3 is leaps and bounds beyond Forza 2, and not just review score wise.
I'll have this game in about 3 or 4 hrs. It will be a "rental" til my Amazon copy gets here
Ha, I did the same thing except I think I got screwed. The first copy I got from gamestop was defective and unable to load, so I took it back. Now the receipt says I returned a defective one already and they gave me another copy. I'm going to dread taking it back and looking at their faces.

Does the theme that comes with the LE download with the car packs as well? It's written on the card itself, but not in the description on Xbox Live, which just talks about the extra cars.
