DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

It's denying it somehow. When he tried multiple times to add my bonus for PD0 and Second Sight, the computer beeped a couple times, where it didn't beep at all for the rest of the games. So something is either stopping him, or it's telling him he can't do it, which I suppose means he could add it manually if he wanted.

Marc Ecko's are def being denied (saw the comp screen myself). Games under $7.99 are also being denied, such as when I tried to trade in XIII, it was only worth a quarter, no bonus.

Was that yesterday? I'd imagine it's a moot point now, unless they aren't updating the trade-in values today, being a holiday. Otherwise the values should be down, but presumably they will now qualify.
 
I just got back from my GR, after exchanging my copies of Driver: PL (XB), Marc Ecko (PS2), and Pitfall/Zelda (GBA) to CC for Castlevania: Curse of Darkness (PS2), and 2 copies of Combat Elite: WWII Paratroopers (XB).

Castlevania: Curse of Darkness got $12 before the bonus, and Combat Elite got $16 before bonus, like you guys said. The lady said that she thought I had the Limited Edition when I called to ask how much it got. I don't even think there's a Limited Edition of that game, but I didn't feel like arguing over $6.

I got $59 total, and picked up Brain Age for DS, and have $79 and change left over on my value card. Brain Age is going to be sweet, I already know it, but my brother borrowed my DS and forgot to bring back the charger when he brought the DS back.. idiot. :bomb:

I didn't even ask how much Driver: PL traded in for when I called today, but if I could've gotten an extra $4 for Driver instead of getting Castlevania, I'll be angry because there are about 15 copies of Driver for PS2 at my CC.
 
New trade-in prices...even some GBA values to fill out the list. Sucks how little they give for GBA. They all qualified for the $5 bonus, otherwise it wouldn't be worth it:

something that worked for me today

check out the best buy 9.99 thread...
both death jr (PSP) and total overdose (PS2) are 9.99 each...you can use the $5 off any PS2 game that is floating around in its own thread to bring the cost of each of these to $5...(coupon rings up as $5 off any PS2 or PSP game in the BB computer)

at GR death jr. got 12.50 + 5 bonus = 17.50
at GR total overdose got 12 + 5 bonus = 17.00
plus matrix path of neo from CC sale got 24.00

$19.00 + tax to $58.50 GR credit....not too shabby methinks
 
Hmmm.. looks like I need to pick up 2 Death Jrs. and a Total Overdose. Thanks for the heads up sooner!

According to you guys the games should have been $5.00 and $10.00 because of the %75 off sale, but gripshift rang up at $16.00 and ridge racer rang up at $24.99. Ridge Racer is $40 new, Gripshift is $20 new. Did you, by any chance, get the USED copies? Did you even notice?

Yep, given that Mesa (and AZ in general) has no GR stores, this was definitely a regular BB - and no regular BB's that I know of carry NEW PSP games. They were definitely used then, and thus not applicable to any of the discussion we've had here.

Well, Dynasty Warriors Advance, F-Zero GP, and GTA Advance are all clearance games selling for $5 new, so it is no surprise they are giving only $1 for trade-ins. Not that they've dropped the used prices any on these games, but I guess they are discouraging flipping of clearance games - so there are some signs of brain activity at BB corporate :lol:.

And of course, given that you are not supposed to get the $5 bonus on ANY GBA games, you'd lose quite a bit flipping. But it seems every location but mine is allowing the damn $5 bonus on GBA games :bomb:. I don't want to flip, but I've got a ton of GBA games I'd trade in given that we pretty much play DS games now exclusively.

Well, I'm off to visit a couple of regular Blockbusters, will report back with any findings. Does anyone else realize what crap the store locator is? The GameRush branded one doesn't return results in any sort of distance order, and I know the Blockbuster store locator is missing at least one store that's just a couple miles from me, unless it's a franchise store and they don't list those.

Actually, the GBA thing doesn't bother me nearly as much as all the regular BB's around here not doing the $5 bonus deal AT ALL.

But what is it with all of your GR's - they can't read? GBA is clearly not included. But whatever - at least I was able to dump one copy of Midway's Greatest (cost less than $2) for $7 before they realized that.

Botticus - they list franchise stores, because that's how I found that one rural one that is actually closer to me than GR. Turned out to be a franchisee (this was about 3-4 weeks ago - they offered me $19.99 for Driver PL and $7.99 for Nightmare Before Christmas, and had a bunch of PS1 and N64 games for sale... very wierd store).

I think I know why some of these games are being denied. As long as the bonus $5 doesn't increase it to more than the used selling price, you should be fine. I know that xiii sells for only 4.99 used. As long as the bump makes it less than the selling price, good to go.

Best Buy tangent anecdote:
I swung by Best Buy afterward and noticed the Xbox version of Chicken Little sells for $29.99 but the PS2 version sells for $19.99. Perhaps they just forgot to change the little placards, but the placards for Drill Dozer, Flow, VJ Red Hot Rumble were all down to their new $9.99 prices. (Unfortunately they were sold out of Trapt. I've got work in an hour and a half, so that means no time to check the other Best Buy; hopefully they'll have one come tomorrow. And it's no longer on the website.)
 
Lovin the gba $5 bonus. Took my last Golden Nugget, Wing Commander, and F Zero legend in today from Kmart ($5.50 total cost for the 3). Those 3 turned into $22.50...

Out of the 4 times I traded gba games I have only been denied the bonus once. Always ask for the bonus on gba games it doesn't hurt to try. Really since its the only other system they buy games for its easy to see why the employees think they are included in the trade in deal.
 
I bought Feel The Magic for 5$, Project Snowblind for 2.50$ and Metroid Prime 2 for 5$.

So apparently this sell is still on?

Can I just go pick up those games in the regular new section and have them ring it up? The games with the stickers on them they all had in their own little section with a "clearence" sign overtop of them. But they didn't have near that list of games, they had like 10 games at most.

Although I know for afact they had alot of the games on that list in their new games section.
 
Apparently? Have you even read any bit of this thread? Its not a sale, its a CLEARENCE. It goes until the product is gone.

If a game is on OUR list, its on clearence. Regardless if its stickered or not. The list is not YMMV (Only not valid at Franchise stores)

Why can't people read a thread? Like maybe the OP? Already today someone got pissed off because he didn't read the OP and came to blame us. There IS no end date. If there was, we would put it somewhere. Its been mentioned numerous times this will continue until all of these games are sold. To make room for PS3/WII? Because GR is closing? Who knows. But a simple read-through would find all the answers.
 
The only GR in my area sold out of the $5 Mortal Kombat: Deception Premium Edition. If your GR still has it, please help.

Any quotes today on Castlevania (PS2), Combat Elite (Xbox), Matrix (PS2), and Nightmare Before Christmas (PS2)? That is all I have left from the CC sale. I'm seriously thinking about heading to a pretty far Best Buy (for Death Jr, Total Overdose, etc) during the post-parade (which my son was in) lull before the fireworks.

I just traded in Castlevania for $12 before bonus, and 2 copies of Combat Elite for $16 each before bonus. Got $59 total.

Weird, cause the Premium Editions are all in the cabinet at the GR here that has them. I wasn't planning on going there again since most of the clearance games I'd bother with are cleared out (but as we've discussed, I guess any PS2/GC/XB clearance game will do a decent enough job moving credit to EB), but they had two Premiums last I knew. If I'm there again, I will snag one.

They only keep the $40+ games in the locked glass case at my GR - problem is, there isn't too much space in there. The other new games are in security cases and on the shelves. The MKD Premium Pack was just in a larger security case than normal :D.
 
The Blockbusters near me dont sell new games :(

There also isnt a Game thingy attached so I have no way to ever get hold of these games at those prices.

I really wanted to get Evil Dead especially at that price. Couldnt find it so I went to CC and just grabbed me a copy for the $8.96 price.

Ford Racing 3 and Powerdrome are part of the 3 pack still lying around from christmas at every wal-mart. Wonder what the third game motorcross whatever is getting. I believe some stores marked them down from $10 to $8 awhile back...

Oh, there's no glass cases at any of my GRs... they just throw all the expensive games (which actually means any new game in the last 6 months, since they don't get many and have a good four or five big cabinets/file drawers) under lock and key. That's been the trouble finding any preordered games, since they aren't actually visible.

So anyone else price check any new PS1 games to see if they ring up 50 cents? I bought one yesterday for that price...but the used PS1 game I bought still rang up at $2. Wondering if this is a universal drop or just a fluke in the system. There aren't many new PS1 games left around here but I'll grab them at 50 cents.

Wow... so only for the Xbox versions have they adjusted the values for the Atari games yet. That's amazing. I'll see about getting today's prices added to the wiki before I get to bed tonight.
