Current Sales Deals

All Playstation 1 games $2 (both used & new)

GR is clearing out their stock of Playstation one games for $2 a piece. Get them while they last.

DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

75% off Select New Games & New Accessories

Please note: The prices listed are the 75% off price.

This sale is also good at regular Blockbusters (YMMV at franchised locations), but your selection there is obviously going to be limited compared to GameRush stores.

Trade-In Price Wiki
Checked today and the manager did remove $15 of credit from my account for the 3 GBA games. That pisses me off to no end - I brought a stack of games in, got a quote, agreed to it, and signed the paper. I never demanded a $5 bonus for the GBA games or even mentioned it - it was just given with all the rest. Granted, I didn't ask the clerk and then point out her mistake, but that's not my job. I'll have to decide if I want to confront the manager tomorrow about it. At the very least I'd like the games back since I wouldn't have traded them for so little. If he pulls the "all trades are final" crap, then he's a hypocrite for taking away credit after the fact!
If you still have the receipt, show it to them proving that the $15 should be added to the trade. They are not allowed to just take $15 off of your credit amount after you have left the store because he/she didn't' want to (that's grounds for immediate termination by Blockbuster rules, actually). Soooo, if you have the receipt confront either said manager or any other manager and make them put it back on. If you don't have the receipt, still see if they'll do it for you since they have a record of the trade on the computer (you must do this at the store where this happened... other stores won't have the record).

PS- If they don't reverse the $15 thing, you COULD get the District Leader or Corporate number and call them, but I think that would bring too much attention to your account and you'll probably get banned from trading, so I don't think I would suggest taking it that far if they don't cooperate.

PPS- Yeah, you won't be able to get your games back, cause all trades are final.

Not only do I have the receipt, I believe I have a printed quote that she gave me before I agreed to the trade. I'll just bring that in. The only wrinkle here is that the manager had previously told me GBA games were not included in the deal. But I brought a big stack of games in, the girl there at the time scanned them, gave me a quote, and I was on my way. It's not my fault he didn't communicate to her how the deal works.

It's probably not worth going to the District level for the reasons you state, plus it just isn't worth my time. But I will stop in and talk to the manager tomorrow. Previously he has said I was a great customer (I singlehandedly held up their preorder numbers when such things mattered last year). The fact that he would do this behind my back has me worried though. In fact, I went in just a few days after this must have happened and put down two preorders and talked to him for a while about the new systems. (Of course, he didn't mention a thing to me about the credit reversal.)

My actual trading at GR has been pretty light, and I have spent a ton there on the clearance stuff, so I shouldn't be TOO worried. But, it's a hard call...

I was going to go to EB to check and see if they had any SF Arcade sticks...
I figure I'd try and burn some GR credit instead of using out of pocket $.

Dropped by a GR and bought pretty much what they had left. Here's how it went. Not too bad.

XBX Predator: Concrete Jungle $10 -> $9.00 + 3.33
XBX Stolen $5.00 -> 1.00 + 3.33
XBX Chronicle of Riddick $5 -> 2.00 + 3.34
XBX Conflict : Vietnam $5 -> 3.00 + 3.33
PS2 BLoodrayne 2 $6.25 -> 7.00 + 3.33
PS2 Manhunt $5.00 -> $2.00 + 3.34

GR $36.25 ---> EB $44.00

Used the credit to purchase :

Street Figher 15th Anniversary Arcade Stick ( 30.00 + tax ) with a little left over...

Not bad since it was a spur of the moment thing...

Hmmmm... So that's at least 2 people still able to do the EB trade-in deal after it supposedly ended. I'm just going to assume those are flukes and the EB's in question just haven't caught on yet.

Of course, after the credit theft I just went through, I'd love to transfer what's left of my GR credit to EB and be done with them forever. But even if the deal was still good at EB I'm pretty much out of transfer games anyway.

The EB Games places I've called says July 31st.

The Gamestop places said it ended already...

Get your credit on the value cards from now on...I'd never leave my credit on my account...if they decide to close the account on you, you'd lose your credit. With a value card, the credit isn't associated with any account...you can use it at any store in the country just like a gift certificate. Hell, you can sell your card on Ebay and some one else can use it.

I went to two Gamerush stores today, with the 75% off list, from the first page of this tread. At the first Gamerush I found Donkey Konga 2 (sticker $19.99), Metroid Echoes ($5 Clearance sticker), 2 copies of Mortal Kombat: Deception for PS2 (Sticker $19.99), and Tiger Woods 06 (sticker $29.99). Took all 5 games to the register, and only the Metroid was $5, all the other games scanned at sticker price or close to sticker price, NOT 75% or even 50% off. IS THE SALE OVER??? Or is the List just wrong?
I went to a 2nd store and took a copy of Mortal Kombat: Deception to the register, same thing ring up as $19.99, and ask her to hit total, still $19.99, it should be $5, what’s the deal?

I’m in the Los Angeles area. I have not been on this board in over a month, so I didn’t know the 75% thing had started, so I went out today to see what was left, not much.
I was going to go to like 6 Gamerush stores, but if the list is not right, or sale is over it would be a waste of time. Shipwreck or somebody what’s the deal?

Yah, YMMV. GS/EB employees rarely know when promotions begin and end or that they're even going on. I've been to a bunch of EB strores where a month into the trade 3 get an extra $10, I was the FIRST person at that store to actually get the bonus because I was the first and only person to ask for it. I imagine clueless employees save the company a lot of money by not giving most people the bonus.

Then there was a store I went to several times and the manager there won't give you the bonus unless you ask for it. I went in 3 different times and he didn't give me the bonus until I pointed it out after he told me what I was getting for my games. He seemed kinda mad I knew about it as that store had no posters or anything about the deal. It's the same store I've filed two complaints about with corporate for their shady behavior. If I worked at a store like this, I'd make sure every customer got the most value possible for their trade-ins...it's just good customer service and makes for happy, repeat customers. Their normal trade-in values without the bonus suck and I can't believe people ever trade games in to them when you can get more on Ebay or even selling them in a garage sale.

Well, most of my credit is on value cards - I only recently started keeping some on the account because it was more convenient to buy the clearance stuff that way. Plus I thought as soon as the preorders are available for PS3 and Wii I could get one in over the phone if I had credit on my account. I should have pulled all my credit off today when the manager wasn't there and then talked to him about it tomorrow. They could still give me a negative balance I suppose, but I'd least I'd notice it sooner then.

Going through my receipts it did look like I had $5 sitting on an account at a regular BB. They had screwed up with the $5 bonus promo LAST year and then tried to give me an extra $5, but it looks like it didn't post to the value card for some reason. Now, that Blockbuster location has closed. It is interesting to note, though, that they just take any credit with them when they close a store. They could have mailed me a value card, or called, or something. Since it was only $5 it's no big deal, but chalk up yet another poor Customer Service mark to BB/GR.

And tfmguy - look a few pages back. We went through the whole MK Deception thing. It appears only the Premium Pack edition is $5. The normal one has rung up $19.99 for a while now. I'm not sure if it was ever on sale or if some GR's had just mismarked it because of a mix up with the Premium Pack. If it ever did ring up truly on sale, it only happened at the very beginning of the sale and then was corrected. Donkey Konga 2 (without drums as it appears yours at $19.99 would be) was never on sale. I don't know about Tiger Woods '06 - maybe that's supposed to be '05? The sale is NOT over, though, as your Metroid Prime 2 purchase shows.

Trade-in prices (7/27)

Brothers in Arms: Earned In Blood (Xbox): $6 (+$5)=$11
Spartan: Total Warrior (Xbox) : $12 (+$5)=$17
Aeon Flux (Xbox): $2.50(+$5)=$7.50
Starfox Assault (Gamecube): $2.50(+$5)=$7.50

Ok, since I haven't cooled down yet: spent $30 of my trade-in credit for the Xbox version of The Godfather. Get home (it's a 15 minute walk to and from my local gamerush; good exercise!), have dinner, open the box and there's no disk! (I suppose there's a first time for everything...). Walk back in a thunderstorm... (at least they're nice about taking it back) grab their only other used copy and... no disk in that one either!!!

So I have them call another Gamerush that's a bit further away to see if they have it... busy. Look around for 15 minutes, have them call back... they get through, the employee at the other end goes to look for it... then I'm told the other store lost power! (that area has just recently began to experience power outages). So I come home with nothing but a $30 gift card and a bad feeling that even if the other store has it there's a good chance (with my luck, especially) that their computers will be down and they'll be taking cash only!

I'm telling you, this game better be good (-I know exactly how it is, but there really isn't anything else out that i wanted to get), or SOMEBODY'S GONNA GET THEIR LEGS BROKEN!!! (hums Godfather theme, which I haven't been able to get out of my head for the last few hours...)

If the game at least includes a section where you can intimidate(tm) Gamerush employees, then it would all be worth it! :)
Yeah, my store has no GIG sticks, it would be nice, but I remember them putting them out, so nothing in the back...I think.

ALSO, GameRush now has "official" call-back lists for the PS3 and Wii. I put my name down for the PS3. I'm hoping they go the same course as the 360, so I can make some cash. I have $450+ credit, so it would be the easiest way to convert my credit to cash and not lose anything....hopefully make a few dollars ;)
Thats great about the call-back lists! I will have to stop by GR after work tomorrow and check this out. Any other GRs have call-back lists?

That's another reason I'd never leave credit on my account. You could go to a store tomorrow and find it locked up and they're out of business. I've seen a couple Blockbuster stores close pretty much overnight. I also have seen a couple change locations suddenly...like move to a strip mall a block or two away. What do you want to bet when they reopen they've got new computers and have lost your credit?
Thats great about the call-back lists! I will have to stop by GR after work tomorrow and check this out. Any other GRs have call-back lists?
Mine does, which is another reason I don't want to piss off the manager TOO much :rofl:. I'd pretty much like to use up my credit there getting the new hardware and then be done with them - I'll get my games at EB and use their trade-in deals (hopefully they will have more). I've never heard of them messing with credit :bomb:.

It would piss me off as well, but I would say let it slide. Unless you don't plan on trading there in the future. If a note is added to your account it could pretty much end your credit building days. I don't know the manager in question, but even if he is in the wrong he could have a power trip an screw your account. I always have the credit put on a card as well just in case.

Like I said I would be pissed off as well, but since I know there will probably be some huge credit builders come fall I would let it slide. With the 2 systems coming out every chain will overhaul floor space. During the process there will be some nice clearance sales, which means good credit builders probably. Plus who knows what trade in deals they might have in the future. I have my fingers cross for the trade 2 get a game for $30 deal coming back from last fall :)

I have a LOT of notes on my account :lol: The old employees used to take offense at every action I took to get money back, whether that was returning something, cancelling a preorder, asking for differences back, etc. All noted on my account.

Wow, you people must have pisses the employees off. I have got a LOT of credit there and the employees seem to really like me. I guess it depends who you run into though. Not sure if I should use my credit towards a PS3/Wii or just 360 games. I'll probably just sell the system though, as I said earlier.

Well at least this is a good sign that GR will be at least trying to stay in business until after the PS3 and Wii come out. Just 16 weeks to go!

My finds today:
Went to a GameRush I don't usually go to, I ended up using some of my credit on:
:ps2: The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction - $14.99
:ds: Kirby: Canvas Curse - $24.99

There is a bit more to this story, but I'm too tired to tell it all right now. I will say this now though, both are damn good games, judging from what I've played so far.
Or is the List just wrong?I went to a 2nd store and took a copy of Mortal Kombat: Deception to the register, same thing ring up as $19.99, and ask her to hit total, still $19.99, it should be $5, what’s the deal?

I’m in the Los Angeles area. I have not been on this board in over a month, so I didn’t know the 75% thing had started, so I went out today to see what was left, not much.
I was going to go to like 6 Gamerush stores, but if the list is not right, or sale is over it would be a waste of time. Shipwreck or somebody what’s the deal?
For god-fucking-sakes man, use the default size, color, and font when posting non-important messages, it's common courtesy!!!

And as for your question, a few of the games on the list are simply YMMV. In my area, I have yet to find a store where Midway Arcade Treasures 3 is included with the other clearance stock, and I believe a few other people have reported it ringing up at full price earlier in this topic (back when it was still a 50% off clearance).

Also, remember, this is a clearance, which means that it will continue until either:
A) All the games are sold
B) Blockbuster destroys/permanently stores the unsold stock

Blockbuster posted a profit, I guess they will stick around....

DALLAS, July 27, 2006 — Blockbuster Inc. (NYSE: BBI, BBI.B) today reported financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2006. Net income for the second quarter of 2006 totaled $68.4 million, or $0.31 per diluted common share, compared with a net loss of $57.2 million, or $0.31 per common share, for the second quarter of 2005.

Net income for the period was affected by the impact of favorable tax audit settlements, costs incurred for store closures and discontinued operations in Spain. Excluding these items, adjusted net loss totaled $21.4 million, or $0.13 per common share, an improvement of $23.2 million as compared with adjusted net loss of $44.6 million, or $0.24 per common share, for the second quarter of 2005. The calculations of adjusted net loss and adjusted net loss per common share are shown on page 5 of the tables accompanying this release.

"Our second quarter 2006 results mark our third consecutive quarter of solid performance and demonstrate the continued successful execution of our business plan," said Blockbuster Chairman and CEO John Antioco. "Domestic same-store movie rental revenues increased 3.8%. Our profitability and cash flow have improved significantly year-over-year, and as a result, our balance sheet is much healthier. We have also gained momentum in our online business. In short, we achieved our objectives for the quarter and will continue to work toward driving improved results while focusing on our combined in-store and online offering."

Second Quarter 2006 Financial Results

Revenues for the second quarter of 2006 declined 5.0% to $1.32 billion compared with $1.39 billion for the second quarter of last year, primarily due to a reduction in revenues from the closure of stores and lower margin retail sales. These decreases were partially offset by an increase in revenues from BLOCKBUSTER Online® resulting from growth in the subscriber base, which totaled approximately 1.4 million subscribers on June 30, 2006, including approximately 100,000 trial subscribers at quarter-end who subsequently converted to paying members. Worldwide same-store rental revenues for the second quarter were flat as compared with the same period last year, reflecting an increase in domestic same-store rental revenues and a decline in international same-store rental revenues. Worldwide same-store retail revenues for the second quarter of 2006 declined 9.2% from the same period last year.

Operating loss for the second quarter of 2006 was $6.4 million, an improvement of $49.6 million from an operating loss of $56.0 million for the second quarter of 2005. The significant improvement was driven by the Company's cost containment actions, including reduced corporate overhead and store expenses and lower advertising costs. The reduction in SG&A expenses was partially offset by a $28.2 million decrease in gross profit mostly due to the decline in total revenues. Gross margin for the second quarter increased to 55.9% from 55.2% for the same period last year largely due to a change in the revenue mix between rental and retail revenues. Rental revenues represented 75.1% of total revenues for the second quarter of 2006 as compared to 73.1% for the same period last year.

Income from continuing operations, which excludes a gain of $7.7 million on discontinued operations in Spain, totaled $60.7 million, or $0.28 per diluted common share, for the second quarter of 2006 as compared with a loss from continuing operations of $55.4 million, or $0.30 per common share, for the second quarter of 2005. This change reflects the favorable resolution of multi-year income tax audits in the amount of $91.2 million and $9.1 million of costs incurred for store closures.

Operating income increased $147.9 million to $20.7 million for the first six months of 2006 from a loss of $127.2 million for the first six months of 2005. Cash flow provided by operating activities for the first six months of 2006 increased by $205.0 million to $17.7 million from a $187.3 million deficit for the first six months of 2005. Free cash flow (net cash flow provided by operating activities less capital expenditures) improved by $260.7 million to a negative $6.1 million for the first six months of 2006 from a negative $266.8 million for the same period last year. In addition to the improvement in profitability, cash flow was also impacted by the settlement of income tax audits discussed above, which resulted in a cash receipt of approximately $21 million and a reduction of accrued liabilities. The Company paid down approximately $150 million in debt including the entire $135 million balance outstanding under its revolving credit facility at December 31, 2005, which increased its borrowing capacity to approximately $293 million at June 30, 2006.

Additional financial and operational information for the second quarter and year-to-date 2006 can be found in the tables accompanying this release.

does anyone know how much DOA4 fetches at BB? I'm almost done with prey so I'll trade that in and if DOA4 gets enough I'll take that in also with some other crappy ps2 game for the bonus.

Much to my suprise need for speed most wanted still gets $35, I just traded it in yesterday.

I have a quick question for everyone. When GR decides to finally take preorders for the Wii and PS3, will it be a simultaneous effort or will it be a few here and there? The next question is what is to stop me from preordering 1 of each at every GR in my city since none of their accounts are linked from store to store? Will they get a master list of preorders or something? Admittedly, I'm looking to make a boatload of money.;)

It really doesnt matter to them. I know employees who did it for the xbox360 and they ended up making some bank. I was planning on doing this myself with the PS3, (dont know how much of a demand the wii will get, so I might buy it and play it til xmas and then sell it.)

Yeah, for some reason I'm thinking the Wii will not be that hard to find....but I could be wrong. The PS3 is probably where the money is at. I'd assuemr you can order a bunch at different stores, but who knows. I have my name down on the list....lookign to sell just the one.

Drat! I thought I had a gamerush near me but it was a game crazy.... I was really looking for a GameCube Game BOy adapter....

I do have some wavebirds if anyone cares to trade.

I went to another GameRush today and decided to use the rest of my credit on:
:ds: Nintendogs Chihuahua & Friends (New) - $29.99
:gba: Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition (Used) - $4.99
When does the trade 3 get $5 extra end? Also is it on the site or any way to show proof, in case I need to?
There should be a large sign hanging behind the GR counter that specifically says in large letters "Trade 3 games, get an extra $5 bonus per game". This doesn't necessarily mean GR employees will understand the deal though, I had one who tried to give me just $5 extra instead of $20 when I was trading in four games. If you don't see the sign, then just ask the oldest/most competent looking employee - though it can be hard to tell who it is sometimes :) about the deal.

Traded the following today:

Total Overdose for $9.50.
Project Snowblind $0.25
Tony Hawk 3 $0.25

I checked my CC and found 11 additional copies of Total Overdose, but I just don't have enough BBs and pairing games to dump them with so I just left them there.

Wow, I found ONE copy of Total Overdose today after finding them the initial few days that they hit CC but no more till now. I thought they'd never restock - I was getting them from Best Buy for $5 instead. Now I need to make a trip to one of the few regular BB's that does the $5 deal as I don't want to trade at my GR any more since they feel they can adjust trades after the fact without telling me :bomb:.

(I'm working on a resolution to my missing $15 in trade credit, but am in limbo about it right now - I will post more about it if/when it is resolved).

Anyone trade Combat Elite for Xbox recently? I also found that at CC. There's still a ton of clearance games at my CC but nothing besides the Combat Elite that might trade for anything.
Can I still trade in my Call of Duty 2 (360) even though I clipped the barcode to send in for that $20 rebate? Or am I screwed?
then just trade in the game without the cover. (please include case and instruction manual! I hate people trade in disc only. )

You can try to trade in DISC ONLY. My store does not take them like that anymore....worth a shot though. Worse thing they say is no.

Yeah disc only is a no go around here nowadays. They have to have the manual or the outer cover.

I got $12 + bonus for it last week. I bought six of them and six Overdoses from CC and just bundled them together over multiple trips.

Being able to trade in 2 of a title makes it a bit easier to pair things up.

Same around here in Ohio as well.

If anyone cares to put this in the wiki, traded in the following on 7/30/06

PS2:
Total Overdose 9.50
Katamari Damacy 7.00
The Bouncer 2.50

they all qualified for the extra 5 dollars in credit from the deal so I ended up with 34 in credit from the trades

Updated. The only one that was different was Total Overdose. It was trading in at $12 before. The other two I just updated the date.
Anyone trade in Oblivion lately? I really haven't touched it and thinking about trading it in.
I got 35, but I traded it in before the 5 dollar deal.

anyone trade in Daxter for the psp lately im going there today but would like to know what im gonna get before also for umd movies FFVII advent children and When A stranger calls. THX

Several people have reported GR is no longer taking UMD movies as trade ins. I tried 2 stores and both said no go. Since Wal-Mart/Target dropped UMD it doesn't surprise me GR isn't taking them...

Traded in 4 today:

Super Monkey Ball 2 (GC) - $7
Trace Memory (DS) - $4.50
Viewtiful Joe (DS) - $4.50
Ping Pals (DS) - $0.50

After bonuses: $36.50. Shockingly, Ping Pals did qualify for the bonus, so I ended up flipping that $3.75 GR credit purchase into $5.50 GR credit. Who needs the EB trade-in deal! :lol:
