System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Older News:

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

Trade-In Price Wiki

Thanks for the update, Shipwreck. You rock. I've been watching the price for Battalion Wars hover up fairly high for months and when I saw your update, I knew where I had to stop. =D

Used Battalion Wars complete with case, art, instructions and disk in perfect condition. I was even able to use the Nintendo code to register the game at My Nintendo. whee!!! Nothing worse than someone including an already-registered Nintendo code.

I was an employee/shift-lead of Blockbuster/GameRush for over two years and I can say that the Fifa '07 will encounter problems. The way the deposit/pre-order system works is it stores the credit on the account until the "Delivery" and cordanating part number are entered. The thing is, this does not read as "1 New Copy", the computer reads this as "$39.99". So when the product is delivered, it will only pay $39.99 towards the product. So if the store adjusts pricing to the MSRP before the release, you will be paying the extra. I doubt very many managers would Overring Credit the amount off with feeling confident in keeping their jobs. Of course, if they don't adjust the price by the release date, rad.

So, take the risk if you wish, but if the store does adjust the price you will not receive it for $39.99 unless you can put on a good begging act. If all fails, you can always cancel it.

Which store and were there any more?8-[

Hmm... while what you are saying might be true, we have had several instances in the past where the product is delivered based upon the original amount paid. There were even instances where a game would drop in price after you pre-ordered it and Blockbuster would not automatically credit your account back the difference - you would have to have them look at you history to see what you paid.

But like you said, you can always cancel it if they try and charge you the extra $20, but my past experiences as a customer are different than what you are reporting as an employee. Definitely could be YMMV though.
Which store and were there any more?8-[
Ridge Road, Hiram... although the receipt states Douglasville. And that was their only copy. I'll be calling around to other BBGRs around the area tomorrow for a couple more for my bro's.

If I score any, I'll pick up for you, buddy. Any others to keep an eye out for? If you ever see a used Golden Sun GBA with box, please pick up for me.

The only reason why I think this might go through is that I've done a number of pre-orders in the opposite direction - where the MSRP ends up being cheaper than what I deposited. In all cases, the computer didn't automatically adjust the price. If I hadn't asked for the credit due to the new price, I wouldn't have gotten it. So in this case, you won't ask if you could pay the new higher price so you should get it for the price you pre-ordered it.
well they filled out this form that they have to send in, and it's supposed to take 4-6 weeks to get back with the archived information from corporate (ie stuff from > 3 months ago, not stuff they're pulling from the computer)
They told you it takes that long to get that information from corporate? It's been about 2 weeks since I did the same thing and I thought to myself to bug them already about it. I guess I'll just wait for the phone call from my store then.

Also, am I the only one that thinks 4-6 weeks seems excessive just to pull up someone's history. There couldn't be THAT much red tape or other mumbo jumbo corporate has to go through to sift through our history?
Does anybody know what GR likes to give for an Xbox 360 premium system? It's not in the Wiki.

(I have two 360, I am not ditching the platform)
According to the wall the last time I was in, $350.

Went to a regular Blockbuster today on a whim. They have sold/removed all of their new sale games (with a gaping stock hole where they used to be), and have massively increased their stock of used games. I picked up a mislabelled Wipeout for PSP, but not much else I could remember that would be worth getting.

I can verify the $350 at least as of a few weeks ago. My store had a used 360 in and they told me they gave $350 the guy for it and he used that to buy a PS2 :D. I was pretty surprised, as I believe EB/GS gives MUCH less than that. They must be selling them for $380 or so, which seems not at all worth it - I'd rather get a new one for $400! They need to rethink that - so if you want to trade one in I'd do it soon, though knowing GR they probably won't change that in a while.

As for the 4-6 weeks history thing - hmmm... My store did that originally so they wouldn't have gotten that yet. Hopefully they just toss it when it comes in :D. What you should ask them to do is call tech support at BB - they were able to look through my account on the phone and find my preorders and then verify that they hadn't been cancelled/switched any time since. If they can do that on the phone with MY account, I'm sure they can do it faster for most other people here.

You don't have to be a BB memember to do the pre-order do you? And do they keep new 360 games behind the counter? Looked for some at one local GR and they didn't seem to have any.

This may have been asked earlier, but this thread is huge: Does Blockbuster give the same deals as Gamerush? I don't have any Gamerush near me, but I have plenty of Blockbuster Videos.
You don't have to be a BB memember to do the pre-order do you? And do they keep new 360 games behind the counter? Looked for some at one local GR and they didn't seem to have any.
Yes, you must be a member to preorder as they keep the preorder info on your account. At my GR, 360 games are locked in the cases above the game racks (there are loose games on the racks and glass cases above them with the more expensive games).

Breakin2 - Yes, that does get asked often, and yes, in general, regular BB's have the same deals. They usually just don't sell many new games and of course they don't do preorders. But the used prices and trade-in values quoted here should be the same (assuming your BB is not a franchise store - look at a receipt to see). I just took a MediEvil Resurrection I got for $6.99 at my local BB to EB and got $6 base trade for it (but $13.20 after all bonuses!).

Shipwreck - there is one wrong price in the OP. Meteos is $19.99 new (not $10), just had it scanned a few hours ago. Maybe someone got one mismarked with a True Swing Golf price tag or something - either that or, like Sonic Riders, it has gone back up.

Here are a few new DS preorders added to the system:
Clubhouse Games (as expected): $29.99
Elite Beat Agents: $29.99
Star Wars Lethal Alliance: $34.99

Each one of these is $5 less than at EB/GS. A while back some of you may remember I thought GR was giving us a $5 discount on DS preorders. It turns out, EB/GS is just OVERcharging by $5. GR has the correct MSRP on these games. So I'm getting as many there as I can. I'm really hoping they will come through with Contact next week, though I'll probably have to stick with my $5 inflated preorder at EB.

NO Chibi-Robo DS, FF Crystal Chronicles Ring of Fates, or Zelda Phantom Hourglass in the GR system yet, though. EB wants $39.99 for Zelda, so I'm definitely switching that to GR as soon as they add it.

I cleaned out some old preorders (Disgaea 2, Mage Knight) for games they never got in - there's no way I'm letting anything sit for any length of time any more :D. I preordered Clubhouse Games as it looks like a fun collection - with full single-card download capability (and Wi-Fi play). Now if I can just remember how to play Hearts (used to play alot when I was in college). I'm assuming GR will get that in as they had display copies of it sitting on a cart today.

Sweet, I was hoping they'd get Elite Beat Agents. Though whether or not they actually get the game will be determined next month.

So, what are people's experience when they try to change a pre-order? I have Halo3 pre-ordered from a while ago, and I don';t want it to be cancelled or disappeared. I used the $29.99 deal from a while ago, and I want to just swap it straight up. Will they give me $30 or will they let me get, say NBA 2K7 instead? My normal girl that always hooked me up is gone, so I'm wondering what protocal says today.

They will probably try and give you $30, or if you want to switch the preorder they will only give you $30 toward nba 2k7. I have even had them try to give me $30 toward another game when I preordered a game and after four weeks of checking with them, they told me they would not be getting the game. I argued and finally got them to just switch for another game, but the employee acted like he was doing me a favor. I was stunned that instead of walking out of the store with the game I originally wanted no more money out of my pocket, he expected me to pay another $20 for a game I didn't want as much, and all because of their mistake. YMMV on this, but from what I have read here, my experience isn't uncommon.

Hopefully they understand that preorders disappear after a year now, though probably not. Otherwise they'll think you're trying to scam them somehow.

I've pretty much decided to just keep all the preorders I have, and if I don't end up actually wanting the game 3 months later when it comes in, I'll just eBay it - even selling it for retail will be a profit.

I've had no problems cancelling or switching. But in general I do as Botticus said and if I end up not wanting the game I just eBay it. I did that with Sonic Riders (due to lukewarm reviews) and it worked out well as I was able to pick up another one for $19.99 when it had the brief price drop.

I've found that even the employees who are still there from the $29.99 deal don't remember it and have no problem doing the full credit. I mean, the manager himself does this and he was around then. It is pretty crappy of them to hold the $30 thing over you at this point - most preorders placed under that deal are either pushing 1 year or are for games they never got. They should be accomodating in both cases (but we all know this is GR, so...).

just traded in smack dow vr raw 06 bloodrayne and onimusha 3 got 25.98 used it towards madden 07. I have 40 creidt left going to get mortal kombat when comes out next week next

I asked my GR this Monday about pre-orders and the GR manager did not even know the release date of the Wii, so she had no idea when/if pre-orders would start. And Wii games are still 59.99....

Not sure if this is new or not but.

GBA Megaman Zero 2 - 14.99

Picked up the last one yesterday... along with Megaman Zero ( cart only ) for the same amount.

Went to a Gamerush I hadn't been to in a while today. Got a complete Fire Emblem for $10 and a complete Firefighter FD18 for $15.

So.... as was posted.... the XBOX 360 version of Fifa 07 was $39.99. I tried, however, to pay in full and the system refused. You could only place a deposit for up to a dollar short of the total.

And worse, on the receipt, it does not show the total price of the game... just the deposit amount.

A MAJOR YMMV on this one, I think...

Yep, for the first time ever I had the same thing happen to me at my GR when I tried to preorder Clubhouse Games. The guy put $28.99 on it and said it "wouldn't let him" pay off the whole thing . No biggie there as I can just pay the $1 next week when I pick it up. But on a possible preorder price mistake you MUST get the whole thing paid off - if they change the price they will expect the difference, for sure, if you only put down a deposit. Tanis, you need to go in there and ask the manager to fix that - cancel that one and pay for a new one in full.

The receipt should say just "Presale" and not "Presale (Deposit)".

As you guys mentioned, the mistake was on their end. So, they've now corrected it. Love this place... thanks guys!
As you guys mentioned, the mistake was on their end. So, they've now corrected it. Love this place... thanks guys!
So the price for FIFA 07 XBOX 360 is still $39.99? I'm going to pre-order it at Gamerush.

What does GameRush/BB need to sign up for an account? I'm not gonna be using their service for rentals, but I'd like to try and do the preorder deal.

If anyone needs to transfer credit from BB to EB/GS before 10/15:

Adjust for the EB/GS bonus and add $3.33 to each game (add'l 10% if you have the EB Edge Card):

PS2: Constantine (BB $4.99 trades in to EB/GS $2.00)
PSP: Metal Gear Acid 2 (BB $9.99 trades in to EB/GS $7.00)
PSP: Wipeout Pure (BB $6.99 trades in to EB/GS $4.00)
PSP: Hot Shots Golf Open Tee (BB $6.99 trades in to EB/GS $5.00)
XBX: Gun (BB $6.99 trades in to EB/GS $4.00)

These are just a few titles that will basically give you an even transfer of credit from BB to EB/GS (or even a marginal profit with the EB Edge Card)
If anyone is still looking for decent trade credit transfers to EB/GS:

Constantine
Really, how much is it at GR? Looks like it only gets $2.50 or $1.50 (depending on system) at EB, so they must be dirt cheap at GR now. I probably put a few in their system when Fry's had it so cheap last summer. Now I can get those same ones back (knowing they are mint :D) and give them to EB. That would be sweet!

(Edit - d'oh, you fixed up your post while I made mine - now all the prices are there!
Some comments:

You forgot MediEvil Resurrection, which I was actually able to find at a regular BB. Costs $6.99 like Wipeout and HSG, but trades for $6 at EB (it was $7 a few days ago, but like HSG, it dropped).

I never considered Gun. Those are available in a never-ending supply at every Blockbuster in the country . Not bad as filler - turns $6.99 of GR credit into just over $8 at EB with bonus + Edge.

End edit!)

coltcannon - No, regular Blockbusters do not do preorders.

SteveMcQ - Wow, it has been so long since I signed up. I think you just need a Driver's Licence, maybe a credit card? Yeah, fairly sure you need the card in case they have to nail you for not returning things :D.

Anyone know if Condemned (360) has dropped at all at BB/GR? I've been wanting to pick it up and thought that maybe with the other recent price drops that it had as well.

Their official policy is that you need a card but they aren't supposed to turn people away who don't own a credit card. I've been in Blockbuster/Gamerush enough when people were signing up for new accounts to realize that most people don't give a credit card when they sign up. I remember when I worked at a video store, we didn't require this if the person signing up argued with us because they didn't want us to have their number. They usually just leave late fees and crap on your account anyway rather than charge your card if you have one on file. I've always had a card on file and back when BB had late fees, my wife would always get 5 DVDs and forget to take them back for a week, so it seemed like I had $30 in late fees on my account every time I went in.

Anyone still looking for Shadow Hearts From the New World? I noticed one at my GR still marked at $50 which is likely why it's still there, but it should ring up at $20.

I can ship it for $25 in a padded mailer or $27 priority boxed. I'll also trade for something of equal value or store credit.

They also still have stacks of Guy Game (Xbox) if anyone needs that game.

Finally bit the bullet and got Guitar Hero for 69.99 + tax. So whats the status for people and their FF12 preorders. I still havent heard back from the GR regional manager yet.
I was STUNNED and said WTF when I went into my local GR tonite (Cincinnati on Beechmont) and found out that they DO NOT ACCEPT 360 SYSTEMS ON TRADE.

They claimed that it was 'early', that they 'do not take those yet'. Sure enough they scanned it and it wasn't in the trade database.

Still stunned...

Well, that was one store's decision then - I know my store took one in. Whether it was a special one-time deal or not, I dunno, but they had it there. And it was just a regular customer, not an employee or something (they said he bought a PS2 with the trade credit).

Anyone have any updates on when Gamerush will start their PS3 preorders? I'm on their "call list" but that doesn't mean much.

I went in last night and asked yet another clueless employee about the PS3 release. I told him it comes out in November and I'm already on the call list. The employee then told me that it was pushed back into December for release. I asked if he was sure and he said he was.

Are you still out there by chance with trade price updates Jammer?

I'll ask again tomorrow about the call list. You would think they would have a part number for the PS3....we'll see. I have to see if they still have aLL my pre-orders in the system still.

With GS/EB getting their allocation numbers from Sony you would think the rest of the retailers (including GR) would get theirs soon. So hopefully something will happen within the next week or two.

My dilemma is whether or not to reserve the Wii at both places. I'd rather spend my GR credit on it, but they might not get them, or might get them late (and that one I want to play first day). On the other hand, I don't want two - and really doubt they will sell for much as Nintendo is going to flood the market with them (good for Nintendo and for the future of the Wii). I also don't want to piss off my favorite EB by preordering and then cancelling - I guess I could make something up about my wife picking one up at Target :D. I don't mind quite so much preordering then cancelling at GR though - if they don't get it the first day I have a valid excuse too.

I don't think EB would care too much if you cancelled your preorder, then at least one person who comes in the store without a preorder on launch day can get surprised with a "Yes, we do have one."
