System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Older News:

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki

I finally picked up Prey for $20.

I also bought Gradius Collection for $15 and Death Jr. for $10...finally exhausted my GR credit.

There was a promotion where you can buy any GameCube game and get the system for $69.99

They have some nice prices on some old psp games I"ll had there during the break and see what they have.

Asked about PS3s, they confirmed to me that there should be some arriving tomorrow. They shipped the 18th via UPS and the shipment had came already today. Sounds like only 2 units.
which store did you trade at if you don't mind my asking?
west los angeles store on national and barrington.
I didn't preorder it at GR because EB had the plush bonus, and I'm glad I didn't. They got 1 copy to rent but do not have any copies on order for sale. And I doubt that my preorder would have changed that (I love how their ordering system has no connection to preorders - ie, people that have actually paid for the damn game and expect to get a copy).

At this point, I'm sure you will get the $50 back. No one remembers those preorder promos any more. And besides, if they aren't getting the game you preordered they ought to give you the $50 without question (plus something additional for the trouble!). The system, in any case, will automatically give you $50 back. It was only jackass managers that used to override this and only give people $30 back in the past (or so we've heard here anyway). One way to keep them happy is to roll it over to another preorder - say Metroid Prime 3 or Wario Ware or something. Now, who knows if they will get that , but that's what I did with another old preorder.

Gwen covered it, but VERY select locations at this point. I need to get some more trades done before they pull it. Honestly, I thought it was gone for like a month or two and forgot about it - but the signs have never come down. However, all the prices I've posted here are before the bonus, so they ought to apply anywhere.

I really wish they'd bring back a preorder deal, despite their pathetic delivery of said items. I don't mind if I'm only paying $30 for them and can roll them over to other $50 games if they don't come in.
i preordered a game at a blockbuster store that no longer exists and i never picked up the preorder(it was for nocturne, over 2 years ago) and i never got any credit or was able to switch the game to different preorder.

I still have the receipt, should i contact the district manager about this? I have a hunch that a lot of blockbuster stores are losing money and will be closing down. I dont want to lose my twilight princess preorder as well. This seems to be how they make money, the get you to preorder a game, never fill the preorder and you are hosed. I hope this isnt the case but it looks really bad.

Deifnitely contact the management about this. This is an issue that should be corrected and you should get your money back. And at least from what the stores in my area are doing, Blockbuster isn't losing money right now, they are making it hand over fist. I wouldn't worry about them closing, but Blockbuster's new game distribution sucks hard, I would cancel your TP pre-order and just buy it somewhere else.

I got a call from GameRush telling me that Zelda for GameCube had arrived and that I had a copy completely paid for that they were holding for me. Who knew?
I got a call from GameRush telling me that Zelda for GameCube had arrived and that I had a copy completely paid for that they were holding for me. Who knew?
Damn, Ship, got room in your house to adopt me? You have BY FAR the best GR there is. They get multiple Wii shipments (none at mine yet), they call you when stuff gets in, they have preorders you didn't even know about (and that they apparently didn't "lose" after 1 year like mine - I'm sure you did that over a year ago during the promo - this just shows that they were proactive in dealing with expiring preorders and handled it without making you do most of the work). I'm jealous!

"I got a call from GameRush telling me that Zelda for GameCube had arrived and that I had a copy completely paid for that they were holding for me. "

I got the same call today. Also, all the local stores are now running the 25% off used games deal.

At blockbuster, is the sticker price already 25% off, or do you take the 25% off the sticker price? there is some good PSP games I want to pick up.
So, has anyone got Prey CE for $20?
I was in a GameRush yesterday. I asked about the various Prey prices, which don't seem to have changed (the used price staying high is odd):

Prey Regular, New: $19.99
Prey Regular, Used: $34.99
Prey CE, New: $39.99

She didn't have a price for the CE used.

Oddly enough I received the same call and I remember changing the preorder last Jan. Going to try and see if they will let me swap for something else, but I can't complain since I had no idea either...

Okay, this is getting ridiculous. I bought yet another Wii today for the last person on my list. The next one I buy will officially be my very own Wii.

Oh, and there were no price drops on new games this week and the used price drops were not worth me remembering or posting.

Where did you snag your most recent Wii at? I've been able to track down a PS3 but not Wii.

.
At GR again? You're kidding me. This is like their 3rd shipment at that store? Meanwhile, none still here (though I didn't check today - I'm heading over for some trades in a bit so we'll see).

Macedonia OH was cleaned out of Prey and TOp Spin 2 this evening - the guy came about an hour before me. Odd, because I though Botticus and I were the only CAGers that screwed around in that place

Dave
I checked with my GR and the manager said all of the other stores in the metro area (KC) received Wii's except hers.
The North 7 one got some a few days ago, but sold out instantly.

It's still impossible to get a Wii in KC

Went in to GR this evening. They have not gotten any Wii's yet - not at launch, not 2 weeks later, not this week. They expect, maybe, at some point they might get an accessory or two . I don't want the system at this point (for gift or flipping, though my son wants one for his room ). But it would sure be nice to get some accessories there.

Anyway, more trade quotes:

PS2 - Final Fantasy XII: $24
PS2 - Mercenaries: $6
PS2 - Rainbow Six Lockdown: $6
Xbox - Warriors: $6
GBA - Drill Dozer: $1.25 (note this gets $9 at Gamecrazy)

I took Drill Dozer and True Swing Golf to Gamecrazy and got $9.90 and $7.70 after MVP. WAY better than GR. I haven't found this much in the past, but it seems GC is beating GR out on a lot of trade-in prices. I stupidly traded my FF XII at GR. I don't know what I was thinking, I should have taken it to EB or tried GC even. I got $29 after bonus, but I saw on CAG a few days back that someone got $33 for it at GS - and I'll usually take EB/GS credit in a second over GR. I wasn't thinking clearly. But in my defense I didn't have my Edge card with me and I just wanted to get rid of it.

On the plus side, they had Wii's in at 8pm at Gamecrazy. Crazy indeed. They said they had them all day. Target had about 50 Classic Controllers and nothing else. Very strange evening to say the least...

D'oh! Almost forgot, they have "Wii Play w/Wii Remote" in the system now for preorder. I'd be more excited if I thought there was a slim chance my store would get one. But I preordered it anyway, just in case.

Oh, and they also asked me if "this was your Zelda sitting here". It was on the counter, apparently being saved for me. Of course they didn't bother to call me about it (considering that it arrived much later than it should have). I picked it up, though I have no idea what I'm going to do with it .

Yeah, my gamecrazy receipt was much more impressive than gamerush - I had to struggle to get $40 at Gamerush, which sucks because I need some credit there badly. Perhaps I can swap someone GC for GR credit

Dave

It wasn't mentioned in the PSP drops, but my local Gamerush had Tekken: Dark Resurrection for $29.99 new (which would play along with the other PSP price drops as well)

I have scoured most of my local Gamerush locations for the GBA SP (it's for my Dad's Christmas present...) My dad is 75 years old & addicted to Dr. Mario. Right now he has my old GBA SP, but I brought my wife's Pikachu GBA SP with the brighter screen & he wanted it right then & there *crosses fingers on finding a GBA* Anyone have a extra to trade for my Dad?!? :)

I have one but my GR didn't have any with the brighter screens - they were all older models. It might be that they aren't clearancing out the newer ones (just as they are selling the old DS for $100 but Lite's for $130 still). However, I can't see GR being that nuanced about GBA revisions, so it is possible they are selling the newer ones for $50 too.

I'm not sure what I'm doing with mine - I figured I would just keep it for a backup when my old Platinum one dies from all the abuse it gets from my 4 year-old (of course, it is still going strong, those sturdy old gameboys!). I also might break it out for some Zelda 4 Swords action (well, 2 of the 4 anyway ;)). After all, I did get that game cheap at GR, so it only makes sense to play it some day with a cheap GR GBA. I might even go buy one of the used ones if they are in good condition (only $40).

Was hoping that my GR would have a Wii, especially after a long morning, but alas, all they had was a 60gb PS3 in the glass case. Lacking the funds, I just left.

Hey guys I know this is a little bit random, but does anyone know when the trade 2 pre-order a game for 29.99 went on from. Im only asking because my twilight princess pre-order disappeared. And they said since i didn't keep the receipt I would have to estimate when the transaction was so they could fax it to the main office and look up my record. If any one remembers the dates that would be great.

Wow, man, it went on for most of last year. There was one very early in 2005, then they had a brief $35 deal for preorders. Then it went away for a few months and came back in May as trade 2 get any new game or preorder for $29.99. Then it stopped again mid-summer and came back in the Fall as trade 2 get a preorder (but not already released games) for $29.99. At least that is my memory of it.

For what it's worth, my Zelda preorder was from March 2005. But you could have put it in during the Fall promo, too, as late as Nov or Dec.

But they shouldn't have to fax, or even estimate the purchase date (beyond that it was 2005). When my GR finally dealt with it, all they did was call some number and had someone at HQ look up my account while on the phone. They got an answer almost immediately (now, it took them some time after that to give me my credit, but that's a different matter).

While having the purchase date is useful, they STILL have to look through your entire account history after that to make sure you didn't cancel or switch it. So they might as well just look through the whole thing.

Roughly End of Sept 2005 until mid Dec 2005 I believe...

Thanks man, I was pretty sure it was March or May but I just wanted to make sure. Im gonna go next week when hopefully its not busy so I can get this straightened out. Hopefully they can just call to check my account history.
Start looking for the magic credit builder from the TRU sale! I still need credit badly!

Dave
Ditto. Would love a PS3 cheaper.

We have some winnars:

Monster Rancher EVO - $24
Steambot Chronicles - $24

The guy on the phone then says "Do you have a third game? If you have another that we sell for more than $7, you get an extra $5 bonus for all of them". WHAT THE fuck - I was just at a store 10 miles away and they didnt say shit about it - that would have been another $20 on my trade in. Not sure if Im gonna fight it though.

Anyways, yeah for those 2 and a $3 nightmare (gets $12) from kmart, that's $75 after bonusm- a new gba and change for $25 out of pocket . Can't beat that.

Those are the only two I asked about, Id imagine metal saga and .hack get similar amounts. Wasn't interested in treading Atelier 2 or Grandia

EDIT: Stow is the store I called, and Macedonia is the store that doesnt know jack shit. And I still need more credit.

Dave

Shit, good luck on finding a TRU with tons of Steambot's and Monster Rancher Evo's... I hit 4 TRU's and found 1 copy of each.
$uck......now CAG's head to TRU for the sale & hit GR BB ...... that's bullshit :(
No. If you want the TRU games so bad go buy them and play them. If not, sit back and don't say crap.
We have some winnars:
Don't trade Ape Escape 3 there ;). I asked about Steambot at GC today - it gets $25 there before MVP, so $27.50. I'll have to decide between that or $29 at GR... Hmmmm... I would like to know Grandia's trade price at GR. I think it was being sold for $30 new at GC so I won't bother with that there. I have a feeling it is the same for GR.

Just a side note - GR no longer has the higher-end trade-in values like they used to. FF XII was only $24 for me the other day. I just found out today it is $30 at GC - D'OH! Would never have traded it at GR (even though I got $29) had I known that. It seems $24 is the upper end for $49.99 MSRP games nowadays (except for maybe the first few weeks of release).

I did find another potential trade at GR, though someone else would have to verify this. I brought up a used Exit and asked the guy the trade-in price. He scanned it several times, including the used barcode on the front . He told me it trades for $15, though I'm not entirely sure I trust him on that (it did have new sale sticker of $29.99 so it is possible). But then he said, remember, you get 25% off used games. Then I asked for the FOURTH time, "you did give me the trade-in value, right?". And he said yes in an equally exasperated tone. Ths guy has many conversations like this with many customers. Sigh... the more I think about it the more I realize I need to verify this. But in any case, the game is $5 at Best Buy if you use the GamePro coupon.

Some other trades:
DS - Metroid Prime Pinball - $2
GC - NFS:MW - $6
PS2 - Musashi - $7
Xbox - Rainbow Six Lockdown - $1.25

I asked him (again) 4 times if the Rainbow Six Lockdown really qualified for the $5 bonus, and he told me it did. Remember, this is the store where the manager will go back through trades and take credit from your account if the bonus was applied when it shouldn't have been. Well, afterwards I found that it sells for $6.99, which is $1 below the cutoff for $5 bonus trades. If the manager reverses the $5 on that I'll be pretty pissed since I did ALL I COULD to verify that I was trading under their damn rules. :bomb:.

Are these trade in values only good for use at the location you trade them in at or can you apply the credit elsewhere? I've never traded anything in anywhere and don't know the protocol.

Well, in this case I put it on my account so it can only be used there (though afterwards I wished I hadn't - the manager feels that taking credit that is already there is OK, but he'd probably be a little less likely to give me a negative balance).

But, in general, you can (and should) get the credit on a Blockbuster value card. That you can use at any location (GR or regular BB, for renting movies, buying candy, whatever ;)).

No price drops this week fellas.

I looked up a few trade-in prices though:

Odama (GC) - $9.50
Gundam Seed: Neverending Tomorrow (PS2) - $16

I'm gonna have to head up to my TRU again today.

I saw a couple Monster Ranchers there, and I haven't traded anything in to GR in a long time. I don't even think I have a GR value card anymore. I could've sworn I had $15 on it, too. I hope I didn't throw it out.

Thanks for the tip! Stopped by TRU today and got 1 copy each of Monster Rancher EVO and Steambot Chronicles. Traded them in at the local BB.

Feels like the good ol' days.
Some trade values for you guys:

Atelier Iris 2 $24
Metal Saga $27

Oh, how I wish there was a GameRush anywhere near me.
