Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Older News:

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

I know this is related to Rhino, but are Gamerushes going away too?
But wait, that article makes no damn sense whatsoever. The subtitle of it is "After losing too many quarters, the company's unplugging its game rentals."

When I started to read this I thought some big news was coming - Blockbuster no longer renting video games. Whoa! No big deal to me, but shocking nonetheless. However, that simply isn't the case.

The article then goes on to discuss Blockbuster's cut back on video game assets: "Its Game Rush store-within-a-store concept was cut back last year, and now the company has announced that it's selling its Rhino Video chain of stores to GameStop (NYSE: GME).". Fine, we know that - but it is related to NEW and USED game sales, not rentals.

Then it concludes with the same game rental nonsense as in the subtitle:

"Like its "no late fees" push that still charged fees, and its failed bid to undercut its rivals with price cuts, it looks like Blockbuster's game-rental business has been flagged for another ineligible receiver.".

That has nothing to do with Rhino or Gamerush as far as I can tell. If BB's game rental business is in trouble that's bad news. But that's not what the rest of the article is about. And it was written by a Motley Fool too (who's supposed to be analyzing the core business for investment potential) - and to think, I used to foillow their nonsense .
Yeah, looks like the 25% off used games is over - the signs were all down. I thought it might go a bit longer in Central Florida since it started later...

I did score a -mint- old style silver NDS for only $60 (I had $24 credit on my account). Looks like it was never even charged...
Already? The last deal like this lasted several months!
On an unrelated note, I did find one copy of Battalion Wars new for $10, I thought I was never going to find this game since everywhere else was cleaned out at that price! :)
The trade value for 99 nights for 360 has dropped to $15.
Yikes! Was 28.50 last week!
Sorry to hear about Samurai Champloo too, just found another copy in my apt!

OK, I updated the wiki with the last couple of pages of trade-in prices. Now that I'm eyeing a possible 360 purchase I'm paying more attention to the trade-ins on those. Now I realize I should have picked up that Oblivion CE CompUSA had for about $26 a few months back .
Looks like the 25% off deal is dead at my local GRs. Is this YMMV or has it ended everywhere?
Dead here in cincinnati too. That means there is even less of a reason to go into a gamerush now...yay.

I seriously wish any GR near me would get in a DS lite or Wii so I could burn the last of my credit up there.

WISH my GR, in fact all GR, let me use credit/giftcard to buy DS Lite/PSP. I know four GR around me has the ds lite/psp in stock. For some fucken reasons, they won't let me, only cash/creditcard. Now, I'm stuck with a $220 GC.

Well, damn, if they ever pulled that crap on me I'd be screwed . Do they let you buy new games at least? You could certainly liquidate credit at 70-80% of face value if you can just buy the latest 360 games and whatnot and sell them on ebay. It's not the best solution, but is an outlet if they continue to spiral down the drain .

Just curious - where are you? Wanna make sure I never bother to visit the GR there if I'm travelling in the area!

I'm from LA. I went to the one in Manhattan beach, Downey, Torrance, and Lynwood I think, they all said "NO GC, cash only or was it cash/credit card nly. They will only let me use my GC/Valuecard to buy new & used games/movies, rent movies/game, buy foods/magazine/guide/etc, just not systems.

I didn't ask if I could pay like 80% on my GC, and the rest on cash. Thanks, I'm try that tomorrow.

I didn't actually suggest that, but hey, it's worth a shot . I simply suggested a way to cash out your credit by buying things like Gears of War, Lost Planet, whatever, and selling them on ebay. You wouldn't get near 100% of the gift card value, but it is better than useless credit. Then you could spend that cash at a REAL store.

Yeah I might do that as my last option. There's a couple GR in my radius that I call said they take GC, but no ds lite/psp in stock. I'm wait till they get some and hopefully they take it.

Damn I think i'd be screwed if they did that here as well. All I've used my credit on so far is basically a gamecube, gameboy advance SP, two 360's, and hopefully a DS/PSP in the future (besides the $29.99 new game trade in deal).

It seems fishy that corporate would allow them to do that. GR credit should function exactly the same as cash.

Yeah, that really sucks about the whole credit thing....my credit basically bought me a PS3 and 360. Nice for me....hopefully the Oblivion trade in price holds up. I want to trade in soon.

That just seems like Craziness to me. I haven't read the trade-in agreement, but I doubt it say's anything about not being able to use value/gift cards for systems. In the last few years, I have bought 2 360's, 6 DS lites, 3 Phat DS's, A PS2, a Gamecube, a PSP, and a couple GBA SP's.

I would contact either there district manager or corporate about this. If that doesn't work, I would go in and demand all my games back. You know they wouldn't be able to give them too you, plus even if they had one, you could argue it wasn't the exact one you traded in. Last I would consider Legal Action. If they pulled that crap here I would go through the frickin roof. I wouldn't be upset if they denied trade-ins for whatever reason, as that is there option. But trading with me for store credit then after the fact saying the credit is limited to certain things is BS.

dang that sucks about all those LA gamerushes

just curious, which stores did say they'll take GC for hardware?

i'm also in socal and would like to know which stores i can burn credit at if my local stores (south OC) won't let me (so far they haven't received any hardware to speak of anyway)

thanks!

postaboy,

I trade at the manhattan beach store. They let me buy systems there with my credit, but that wasnt recently. I would talk to the store manager first and ask for the "proof" that you cant use credit to buy systems. They tried that shit on me a year ago at the store on la tijera and also at the store in culver. I was able to burn some credit eventually on a xbox and ps2 slim so keep trying and you should be fine. There is always the district manager and then corporate. You may even get a couple of GCs for your time and trouble.

I know the manager at the MB store and I am waiting on my history so I can finally get my copy of FF12 thats been dropped off my account. I have a few hundred left to spend there. I only wish I could use the BB/GR credit for their online service.

Are DS lites selling for decent money on craigslist and ebay?
postaboy,
Are DS lites selling for decent money on craigslist and ebay?
Although a couple have been going for $160-170 the average selling price seems to be about $150. This means you probably be pretty close to breaking even after taxes and paying ebay/paypal/ect. fees.

I finally found a few Pink DS Lites at a GR in Kentucky but decided not to pick them up...though I might got back there and grab them just to be rid of this credit after ebaying them. Then at least I could pick up a nice Onyx Black DS somewhere else for myself after breaking even on Ebay.

I just bought 7 ds lites and 2 xbox 360 premiums at a couple of Gamerush stores with giftcards here in Dallas and have been buying systems and games with giftcards for over 2 years. I have never heard of such a thing. Yeah you might want to take that up with corporate. Laterz

I purchased an xbox using value cards at the gamerush on Sepulveda in Westchester a couple years ago, and just bought a 360 with 4 value cards in November at the West LA store. I would definitely talk to the manager.

Man, with a house full of sick kids I've barely been out this week. Does anyone know if the $5 bonus trade-in is still running at those select locations where it has been ongoing? I want to make sure it didn't get canned with the 25% off promo. Yeah, I could call (except 75% chance I get the clueless employee) but I figured someone here has been to one of those stores the last few days and can let everyone know.

The Garden Grove location lets you use GC for hardware the problem is that they might not have much. Call ahead if you plan on stopping by.

cool thanks for the info

if any GRushes in south OC ever get hardware in, i'll update if they take valuecards

Went in to GR today. The $5 bonus is still in effect. Got some trade quotes:

DBZ Sagas PS2 - $2.50
Gungriffon Allied Strike Xbox - $12

Gungriffon is $15.99 at GC and I have a Buy 1 Get 1 free on $17.99 and under games coupon for there. I hate to take my GC credit and turn it back into GR credit, but it is tempting. Unfortunately they only had one copy, so I'd need to pick up something else for the 2nd game.

They appeared to (still) have no Wii stuff whatsoever, and only the pathetic selection of 4-5 games they've had for a few weeks now. They did contract the new game section to make more room for rentals, so that was not a welcome development. The GBA and DS games are relegated to the lower half of one shelf section underneath what's left of the Gamecube games. I thought for a minute they had completely gotten rid of them! PS2 and Xbox still spill over multiple racks.

They claim WarioWare Smooth Moves is on order (better than games like Rayman and Elebits which they never even had on order except for the one rental copy) and will be here next Friday. We shall see... I did see that they had Lost Planet in - dammit, they are really good about getting Xbox 360 games in which figures since I don't have one .

I just traded in 2 99 Nights Last Week for 28.50 each. Both are on shelf being sold for 24.99 now used.

On a sadder note, just found a 3rd copy of it in my car. Not worth trading in at all.

I used trade credit to buy a DS Lite back in late November as a gift to my mom (I'm in LA). I imagine it has more to do with their dwindling DS stock because they're low on the distribution totem than normal company policy.

My local GRs are not expecting anymore console stock at all. No more DS, no more 360, No more PS3, etc. Takes too much room to display and makes no profit. They figure software will atleast bring in some revenue. Looks like only software. Take it as a RUMOR as always.

Oblivion still gets $35 as of today....traded mine away....no time for that game.

$170 in credit and $40 Gift Card....what to buy?

I may even buy MVP 2005 again and hook up my old XBOX. Iwant some baseball action

Rescuing this thread from the depths...

If anyone sees WarioWare Smooth Moves at their GR please let me know. I bought one at Fred Meyer to play now (in about 5 minutes ) but will want that $50 in real money back once my GR copy comes in ;).

My GR had a few copies of the usual Wii suspects (no Smooth Moves or accessories). I had to chuckle as I was entering the store. They had a big sign on the door saying "PS3's INSIDE!" I guess they're so plentiful even GR's pathetic distribution center was able to get them... (Not a PS3 hater I have one and love it... just an observation so no flames please...)

^I saw a sign last week saying the same thing at my local GR. I don't ever see any signs for the Wii. I thought there were more Wiis than Ps3s being produced! lol

Yay, picked up a PSP with 2.6 firmware and a DS lite today to finally get rid of my Gamerush credit...feels soooo good. I have been pretty disapointed with what they have gotten in recently and also with the several Pre-Orders they messed up for me.

If anyone is interested the glenway (cincinnati) gamerush still had one Pink DS Lite in stock as of yesterday and a few PSP's.

As far as i've seen thats probably about the only place you can grab a DS lite of any kind let alone pink in the whole cincinnati metro area.

There was, its just the demand for wii has been much higher and Gamerush/Blockbuster is really ow on the distribution totem pole that hardly any GR stores have ever gotten any wii in stock.
^I saw a sign last week saying the same thing at my local GR. I don't ever see any signs for the Wii. I thought there were more Wiis than Ps3s being produced! lol
wow anyone around socal see a similar sign advertising PS3s for sale?

I was planning on dumping some 360 games at my local EB (with extra 20% trade credit deal), FYE (if the 45% deal is going on) or Ebay (if i find the games arent getting enough in-store to make me deal with the hassle of ebay fees & shipping). But i figured i'd try out Gamerush since mine seems to always have systems in stock (in case i need to dump credit for cash)

Most of the games i was planning to sell are on the wiki dated 1/6, just wanna know if anyone knows the updated prices for GR:

WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2007
Gears of War
Oblivion - ($35 apparently, thanks Doubledown)
Dead Rising
Viva Pinata
Enchanted Arms
Condemned (yea, not gonna be worth much)

I would assume the 1/6 prices are pretty accurate for those games...like Viva, Gears and Dead Rising. But who knows...it's possible they dropped a few dollars.

Went into the Plainfield/Hunt location for one last time today. There weren't any major price drops this week; just mainly the EA games that dropped everywhere.

The manager was nice enough to let me just buy some of the rental games off the shelves though, so I picked up Firefighter FD18 for $15, Graffiti Kingdom for $15 and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance for $10.

He also gave me this pretty nice promo for God of War II that comes in a big box with promo sheets, a GOWII metal keychain and a promo disc of some kind. Very cool of him.

It was a good run Plainfield/Hunt GameRush, you will be missed.
wow anyone around socal see a similar sign advertising PS3s for sale?
The Blockbuster/Gamerush on National in Mar Vista had PS3s as of mid last week.

My GR just got rid of their PS3 that they had for 3 weeks yesterday. Apparently the guy was freaking out in the store when he found it, I guess no one gave him the notice that I can find it in any store.

They also got 5 Wii's yesterday, one was for a employee preorder so 4 people had waited outside since around 6 AM, then moved inside to wait for the shipping to arrive around 3 PM. Gone instantly

D'oh! People camping outside a fucking GR for a system? Now I've seen (or heard of) everything. How the hell did they know they'd be there? My GR doesn't even know what they are getting until they unpack the boxes .

Funny about the PS3 - I bet the guy who bought all 4 my GR got in is regretting it. I haven't heard about any being returned yet, and have no idea if they've gotten more (been taking a GR break). They pissed me off selling all 4 to that one guy, so if they get any more I'm certainly not buying - let 'em sit on the shelf.

I saw one Wii getting purchased at my GR in South St. Pete, FL. There was a sign atop the display case that said no returns on game consoles. So that guy who bought four PS3s may be out of luck — and some cash ... Can't say I feel sorry for him.

Anyone with easy GR access mind checking on the prices in the system for FFVI, Diddy Kong Racing, and Hotel Dusk? Hoping they're sitting pretty at $30 (and more hopeful they'll actually get copies in) so I can avoid EB's price inflation. I'll likely head over this weekend to put some preorders down.

Yeah when I used my credit on a 360 I was told no returns for any reason, but I asked for the store manager before I bought it since I knew he was in the back. Since he knew I was in there all the time he basically said if there was a immediate problem with the system he would help me out, but I needed to do it within a week.

iv got a big problem and im hoping that some of the people here more familar with game rush can help me out.

i preordered 2 copies of legend of zelda twilight princess for the game cube around 5/5/2005 using some promotion where you trade in 2 games and preorder a game for $20 or an ammount around there.

flash foward to 12/22/2006 where i go and pick up both copies. now this was a problem because it looked like it was wiped from their computers but the guy who was woking there called someone on the phone and cleared it up for me. at this time i had the orginal recpeit from 2005 that was pretty faded but still readable. he said all we needed to do was pay the sales tax and that was it.

now the problem is my mother who owns the account has got a bill for $99.86, the cost of both games minus sales tax. i threw away the old 2005 receipt that shows both zeldas (along with conker and dragon quest 8) as presales since the employee said i didnt need it anymore but i checked and i do have the receipts for when i supposedly paid for the sales tax on them.

im now looking at the receipts and it doesnt make any sense to me, it says 2 presales for $5, deliver (amount due) 44.99, total amount due $51.21, then on the second it shows the other zelda, deliver(amount due) $44.99, plus tax, total amount due $99.86

What I dont get is why would they give me the 2 new games with only paying for the tax in cash, only to later charge me for the remaining ammount. The receipts have the employee number on it so the powers that be can talk to him, but what happens when i walk in and show them these 2 receipts and they tell me "look it says right there you owe us money"

this sucks so much, i wish i never preorded these games, i wish i never threw away the old trade in receipt from 2005 or he might have kept it i can remember what happened on a single day from nearly a month ago, and i plan on never using blockbuster again.
