50% Off Sale

Edit: It looks as though more games are being added to the 50% off list on 3/25/07. Here's what jaybsooner is reporting:

The prices will be listed on the price drop reports as 1 cent drops making the game prices end in .98. The 50% will be automatically deducted when the employee hits the Total button. It's very unlikely that there is any signage or changes in prices actually displayed at the stores yet.

FAQ (Read before you ask a question.)

Q: Are used games included?
A: No, this is only for new games.

Q: Is this sale going on at normal Blockbusters?
A: Yes, as long as it is not a franchise Blockbuster. Most Blockbusters are not franchise locations. Call your local store and ask if they are a corporate or a franchise store if you are unsure or check a past receipt to see if it says "Blockbuster Franchisee".

Q: The games are scanning at full price, is this sale for real?
A: You won't get the discount until the employee hits "Total" on the register.

Q: Do Blockbuster gift cards work at Gamerush?
A: Yes.

Q: Is this going on nationwide?
A: Yes, but see details on franchise locations above.

Q: My blockbuster employees say they don't know anything about the sale, is this sale real or happening in my area?
A: It's a good thing that they don't know and see above franchise locations information.

System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.




Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

I haven't read about this before so here it goes:

I rented a game and returned it passed its due date and got charged for it, then I returned it and got my money back. Thing is they took whatever store credit that I had first, then charged my credit card the balance; then issued me the entire price of the game back to my credit card when I returned it.

So for those of you who might have a little too much store credit, this might be a little fix to trensform it from store credit to all American dollas.

I wasn't planning on getting a PS3 until next year or the year after, but since they are taking out the Emotion Engine (or whatever it's called), I decided to go ahead and go for it.

I returned a movie on time (probably the last day), but was charged for it anyway. Then the next day I was credited. The fun part was that when I had rented the movie, I had used two free game rental coupons on the same transaction. Girl somehow got screwed up and scanned/removed the coupons a dozen times, until finally I had a negative value on my account (money for me). So when they credited the late-return charge, they credited the whole value of my account, whcih included the $5 or so that had managed to get in there.

Keep in mind that you're still charged $1.25 for restocking.

gamerush has the absolute worst selection ever, store credit there is absolutely useless unless I need something specific that they got.
 
MY store still seems to get some new releases...at least mainstream stuff, which is what I use my credit on. They also have a GREEN XBOX, 360 HD-DVD, Wii Points, Live Points, Wii Accessories...a few other things, so I should be good for credit. I have about $180 in credit, which is essentially THREE games (Madden, GTA IV, and something else)

Seriously, I picked up a used Battle Stations Midway and Paper Mario (whatever the wii name is) because I felt like surpizing my lil bro with a few games the other day. And even paying $35 and $45 with something like a 3/1 credit ratio, it killed me to pay *that* much for either of those games.

The serial numbers (the actual bar code and number on the back of your DS Lite) won't match if you try the return. WalMart also does this for their GBA Micros. The serial number even shows up on your WM receipt.

This EA flip is pretty tempting. But, it's sad that 1 GC in my area has a better selection, game-wise, than 4 GRs combined. :whistle2:(

Sometimes we all just have to break down and do it ;) Just think of it as like half price in "real" dollars.

I guess consoles make it easier to stomach. Yes, the used section is not that great anymore, and the used prices are barely worth it. And yes, GameRush deals seems to have gone except for some cheap games, (which do me no good).

Thanks for the info, I just called EVERY GR in the Atlanta metro area and found only one store with a non pink DS Lite as it had two whites and it was on the complete opposite side of the city. Went on my lunch break from where I work downtown and got the very last white DS Lite. I wasn't going to feel dirty buying and trading in DOAX2s (and an EA or two which isn't so scummy) for nothing!!;) What else would I do with 150 in Blockbuster credit, watch movies???

I went to a gamerush today that had ds lites in stock and they wouldn't accept my giftcard. They say they don't accept giftcards for anytype of portables or consoles. Any suggestions because this is the only gamerush i know that has ds in stock.
 
Wow, EA STILL holds at $36...amazing. I forgot to grab a copy last week. I guess it is good to build my credit upa bit, as my store still gets the mainstream games.

Is it a franchise store? If so, call corperate because that's the biggest pile of bullshit I have heard from GR (and I've been through quite a lot).

That's a load. I bought one completely with a value card two days ago. Try going back on a different shift when there's a different employee there to ring you up and see what happens. I would say get a manager, but they tend to be just as clueless.
 
This actually has been done in the past where they refused to sell consoles with a value card. Not sure of the reason, but I'm sure you could bitch...although, a lot of stores make their own rules.
 
I have no idea what that's about. I did a quick search and BBs Customer Service number is 1-866-692-2789. You could try giving them a call to ask why that store would deny a sale.
 
I feel bad for all you guys w/ shitty gamerushes mine is amazing its always stocked w/ systems and good games. Earlier today I burned through over $300 in credit on:

Wii System 249.99
.Hack Quarantine 19.99
Silent Hill 2 9.99
Street Fighter Anniversary 16.99

Was really excited to find the wii. They only had one and I got it. I only have 10.48 in credit left. Maybe time to flip some more EA.
 
The fact that you're near to a University may have something to do with the number and quality of the used game selection. As for Wii's, GRs still get about two every few weeks around here.
 
I have $49.00 in store credit @ Blockbuster and I'm trying to buy a XBOX360 Core System when the price drops down to $379.99...What can I Trade in to get enough sc to buy one?!

I just got an email from Blockbuster saying that would be sending out $10 off coupons for Madden 08 next week. No mor details than that...might be for Blockbuster.com members though.

Bonus for me....$10 off is nice, since I was going to use credit anyways.

Found one last copy of Oblivion for $24.99 at a Greenville, SC Gamerush. Great deal!

I had thought about waiting until the re-release with all the additional expansions, but I'm hoping the downloads on Marketplace become cheaper or free once that releases.

does blockbuster (not gamerush) sell gamecube games anymore at very cheap prices?
it would save me a few miles on my gas muncher.

Oh... yeah. That was partly me. The EA, DDRU, and DOAX2 at least. I'm not guilty of the OnePiece or GunPeys...

So uh...anyone trade in Enchanted Arms for ps3 this week. My local Blockbuster claims only the 360 version is in the system (but this person didn't seem to know what they were doing).

This is posted in the BB thread, but since there's been a few other Oblivion threads, I figured this deserved a thread of it's own.

Yes, the GOTY edition comes out next month. I picked up this version primarily because 1) I will never finish this game even without the expansion packs and 2) I'm hoping that the expansions drop in price on marketplace (will they ever be free?).

Anyway, the standard version is still going for $59.99 new at most places. Figure it will probably drop next month with the GOTY edition out. For those who don't want to wait for a universal price drop...this is a steal for an excellent game.
