50% Off Sale

Edit: It looks as though more games are being added to the 50% off list on 3/25/07. Here's what jaybsooner is reporting:

The prices will be listed on the price drop reports as 1 cent drops making the game prices end in .98. The 50% will be automatically deducted when the employee hits the Total button. It's very unlikely that there is any signage or changes in prices actually displayed at the stores yet.

Okay, details are still rolling in and we don't have a full list yet, but we're getting there.

FAQ (Read before you ask a question.)

Q: Are used games included?
A: No, this is only for new games.

Q: Is this sale going on at normal Blockbusters?
A: Yes, as long as it is not a franchise Blockbuster. Most Blockbusters are not franchise locations. Call your local store and ask if they are a corporate or a franchise store if you are unsure or check a past receipt to see if it says "Blockbuster Franchisee".

Q: The games are scanning at full price, is this sale for real?
A: You won't get the discount until the employee hits "Total" on the register.

Q: Do Blockbuster gift cards work at Gamerush?
A: Yes.

Q: Is this going on nationwide?
A: Yes, but see details on franchise locations above.

Q: My blockbuster employees say they don't know anything about the sale, is this sale real or happening in my area?
A: It's a good thing that they don't know and see above franchise locations information.

System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.




Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

There are an inordinate amount of GameRush stores around these parts, and my closest Blockbuster-only store has been displaying new games for sale. Additionally, they seem to have more used games in this store than I've seen before.

I've been avoiding the EA flip (mostly because I have plenty of banked credit), but maybe I can find some used copies at GS to use with coupon if new games are going to be more available.
 
Anyone trade in NCAA 08 lately? I would assume $35 for the 360. Not sure if I want it anymore after I got Madden 08.

I still never flipped any EA....oh well.
 
Well, I went in to my local (non-GR) Blockbuster to return a rental and was going to ask them about carrying new games when I noticed they had a variety of Madden '08 behind the counter. They have this little shelf behind the counter that mostly has DVD box sets (and a Marc Ecko LE that I traded in a year ago :lol:). When they had the 360 and PS3 controllers for a bit this is where they kept them. But on the top of the shelf they now have several different versoins of Madden. So I guess my store is somewhat participating - they said that was the only game they were going to get in. But since they told me a few weeks ago they would never sell new games I'll keep checking back ;).

Was the same clerk working that day? If so you could've called em' on it. Soooo you never carry new games ya' say? :lol:
 
EA was still holding at $33 as of 8/19(sunday) night. Just hoping Bioshock comes in for sale. I don't care if it's a Gamerush or a Blockbuster! I wonder if it comes in at all, would it be on Thursday or Friday because if it was there on Tuesday surely hell would freeze over.

Hehe, I wasn't planning on buying Bioshock (maybe renting it and then getting it again when it's cheaper) but if, by some miracle, my local BB gets it, I still have $150 or so to burn there...

They should have it now. At least two BB stores I went to last week had the case on the floor and said the game is in their system, but they couldn't find it behind the counter.
 
Gamerush 'Bioshock' report - they had 9 to rent and 2 to sell. I wanted to buy it because I have $40 in credit I wanted to use. The woman could not find the 2 that were for sale and thinks maybe they were preorder copies. I asked her if I could just rent one and do the 'own it' for so much more option and she said oh yeah you can do that. She even gave me the original box and manual in addition to the game rental case. But --- the sales slip has 'own it 09/02/07 for only 59.99 more' that is in addition to the 7.99 I paid for the rental. Since it has to be back by this Sunday the 26th I don't think I can do that can I? Also... anyone just say they 'lost' a game? Do they just charge the retail price ?
 
They stopped deducting the rental cost from the buy it price a while ago. And on top of that, they don't charge the "used" price of it right away. So you're basically paying an extra $8 to buy it that way.

I think it's a universal 19.99, but definitely at CC, BB, EB/GS. Some guy did a CC markdowns thread and it's listed in there;)

If that's true about Enchanted Arms I have some GS credit that I need to use up and can turn the forty I have there into to almost 70 at BB/GR that basically means that Halo 3 will cost me about 30 bucks in real money can't go wrong with that.

Does anybody know if Gamerush is getting the Collector's Edition of Stranglehold because I want the PS3 version for having Hard Boiled on the disk with the game?

I asked if preorders would be taken for any games at my local Gamerush. They told me the only game that they would be doing that for is Halo 3 but they didn't know when they would start. I hope they do this.

Have any of you guys heard about this? If it's true I need to find and trade in a couple more Enchanted Arms if the value stays at $33 this week.

I can confirm EA is still holding strong at 33 because I traded in two copies today. EB/GS has this for 17.99 used and with discount coupon & edge card it's 16 so you would double your money. The coupon is in a Video Game Deals thread.
 
i wonder how much trade in value for Baten Kaitos Orgins. it's $16 at TRU and then there coupon to make it cheaper. i hope it's high.

It's probably not too high since I recently bought it used for 19.99 (it rang up 24.99 but he reduced it to the sticker price).

Umm you got a wrong answer there. You can preorder anything and we have been taking Halo pre-orders for months. Just go in and tell them to do presale of the part number and the system will take the pre-order.

They can search
Find X360-Halo 3
and all three editions will pop up with the part number.
 
Thank you Sulik2. My GR used to be on top of things but over the last 5 months or so has degraded due to good employee's/managers quitting or transferring. Preordering games used to be easy there. I'll take your advice and get them to search the part number.

No, the only coupon I ever saw was the $10 off Madden 08. They do sometimes have deals on used games and accessories. 25% off is normal for USED stuff or buy 2 get 1 free deals.....it has been a while though. Next Gen stuff is sometimes excluded (although, it is becoming Current Gen now I suppose).
 
Well, for those of you that are still looking for copies of EA to trade CC is having a buy any games $19.99 or less at 2 for $30 so you can score two copies for $15 new during next week if your store has any copies.

Damn, $30 into $66? I'm definately gonna hoard this one up.

I miss the good old says of CC & TRU sales with the Trade 3 get $5. Last time i was able to get a major score was back in the "Driver 3" & "Mark Ecko: Getting Up" days.

EA is not showing up w/ the instore search but I bet most stores still have it... (still marked at 59.99$).

Acutally most major retailers sell this at $19.99 but it is better to get if from CC because of deal this week or you could PM at another store like Bestbuy or Sears like parKer stated.

The only two store that I know of that don't sell at that price new are Gamerush and Gamecrazy because it sells for like 45 bucks used/50 new at both.

Even if it is marked at $59.99 it will show up in the computer at CC for $19.99 because it is the same price as their website.
 
If can find used copies of this at EB/GS they are $17.99 used and if you an Edge Card which 10% off that plus the 10% off coupon that ends at the end of August you could also score some copies of this at around $15 too.
 
Just got back from my trip. Had to run around the store to find em, but they did have 2 EA's left for $19.99 each. Took em right to Blockbuster, low and behold they had a copy of Lumines, I snatched that one up for ebay. My FYE flips didnt go quite as well, but i came out alright. Supposedly the Gamerush here sells Blu-Rays new (not in those crappy BB cases), ill have to check it out. Hopefully theyre a little bit cheaper than the 'own it now' price on the receipt for the rentals.
 
Right on Berzerker. Make that credit grow! My local CC has 4 copies. Hopefully my wife will be successful in getting 2 of them for me since I have to go to work. At the very least I've already paid for my Halo 3 preorder so these other 2 would just be icing on the cake. Maybe for Metroid 3?
Is anyone out there wondering if GR will be selling Rock Band? I sure am.
 
Well, I feel funny because I haven't bought games just to flip since the days of Mark Ecko's: Getting Up LE & Driver: PL.

Well, my haul for the day I got the only used copy within 20 miles of me at Gamestop just like stated above for 15.25 (after discounts) plus tax. Then I went to the closest CC to me and found the last two copies of EA they had with the two for 30 deal. So, with the two other copies I bought from the same Gamestop earlier in the week I now have $165 worth of Gamerush credit which it hasn't been that much since I bought a 360 from them over a year and a half ago.

My total in credit now with some other games I had my girlfriend trade-in but she lost the receipt with the totals of each game on it I have about $245 in store credit.
 
The good old days ecko, matrix, driver, etc. Lets take it back old school though Nightmare of Druga, Medabots, and the classic Dead II Rights 2...
 
Has someone preordered Call of Duty 4? I tried today at my GR and they couldn't find it in the system. I ended up preordering Mass Effect instead but COD4 comes out earlier.

Bought the last 2 copies of EA at CC today for about $32 with tax. Took them up the road to a GR and confirmed the trade price before going back to the car and opening them. Still $33 each + my store gives tax on trades SO I turned $32 into $70 credit. Thanks CAG! :D

This was in the days before video was so widely available but when i was a kid I had a collie who was tied up in the backyard and would literally hump it's water bucket. It was quite a sight.... :applause:
 
think one of the originals that really got GR tradeins going was Drake of the 99 Dragons or whatever the hell it was called. I must have traded in 15-20 copies of that when they were doing the trade 2 get a preorder for $29.99 (and get the tradein credit !!). I preordered a whole fall/winter's worth of games for around $150

Yeah, I remember hearing about that though it predated even my time on CAG and at GR :lol:. They brought back the $29.99 preorder deal, though, because I definitely made use of that but at that point Drake was pretty worthless, even at GR. It was good to combine the extra $5 per game trade-in with the preorder special though - was able to do that for several months at my GR.

I should see if my local BB got anything else in besides Madden. Maybe I can flip another EA or two (only did 1 a few weeks back).

Well, I was able to get Bioshock on release day without a problem from BB, and without a preorder.

Also, a local GameRush sold out of Maddens, and got a resupply of purchase copies. Two of my friends took advantage of the EA flip to pick it up.

Both of those events surprised me considering recent performance of the chain.

I concur....I looked at that and hoped the poster was drunk or something.

I wonder if EA will hold another week? I have yet to flip it :( stupid me, no time.
