Game Pass

Rent unlimited games for a month. You can have one game (or 2 depending on the pass) out at a time and can return it whenever you want and switch it out as many times as you want.

$21.99 for 1 Game

http://www.gamerush.com/rules_gamepass.php click this link to find out about gamepass at Gamerush.

You must have a credit card/check card to signup. Checkcard must be visa, mc, amex, dc, or diners club. You can also do it by getting a prepaid visa, mc, dc or amex card with at least $1 on it so it will clear the authorization and just pay for it each month (very tedious though). You can cancel at any time. Good on any rental game (gamecube, psp, nds, gba, xbox, ps2).

Gamerush is selling used Dreamcast's with one controller for $7.99, if anyone is interested... came with all the hookups, as well.

I got myself Zelda DX for $4.99, nothing else to note other then that.

Sooo...at what location did you see the Dreamcast(s)? :D

I've seen Dreamcasts at my local store but I think the price was more like $14.99. I don't think Dreamcast is even in their system anymore so the price may be YMMV...and they probably give about 50 cents in trade for the console...surprising anyone trades the things in. I saw one the other day at a Salvation Army store but they wanted like $35 for it.
Sooo...at what location did you see the Dreamcast(s)? :D
Was at the 4th Street N location, they only had one and it had just hit the case that afternoon... the employees were shocked it was there, so I guess it went out in the morning. The sticker said 3/01/06 on it so I assume it went out today.

Its in top shape, the employee did have trouble entering it into the computer. They also had a ps one for $14.99 and a 3rd party screen for $19.99.

Picked up Super Princess Peach and they asked if there was anything else I had preordered and I couldn't think of any (besides Legendia of course). Then I was perusing the PSP section and saw Y's there - had no idea it was out already. Of course I had that preordered as well, and of course they had not set it aside for me :D.

They got FOUR copies of Super Princess Peach in. And yet they only order 2 Mario Kart and Animal Crossing? I just don't get them... Anyway, I took that as a good sign for GR.

No news about deals, but they did say they are going to "consolidate" their game section (ie, make it smaller). This is good and bad news I suppose. Obviously it is not good that they are reducing the size of the GR area, but it is better than eliminating it. They said they'd still have used games and preorders and the like, but just getting rid of alot of the new games that have been sitting there forever not being purchased (they do have a rather large new game section that seems to be lightly shopped - it is about 3-4 times bigger than the used game section). Now if this means they will have some sort of CLEARANCE sale that would be great. This would fit in with the rumor we heard earlier. But they didn't know if there would be a sale or not.

Now if there IS going to be a clearance on new games I'd like to hold off on some purchases. I mean, nothing could beat using GR credit to get new games 25% or 50% off .

Thanks, I called before they closed but it was already gone. I want a cheap backup DC - I've already lost one to bad controller ports.

Bad controller port? Yeah all you gotta do is replace the fuse. It takes like 5 minutes and the part should cost less than $2. Hope you didn't trash the DC.
Hey is God of War and GT4 $19.99 now at GR since it seems to ba a universal drop everywhere else?
That's a good question. Does anyone know? I would love to pick up god of war with some GR credit.
Does Gamerush "competitor price"?

I was hoping theyd match Gamecrazys Buy 1 get 1
No... well at least the answer was NO last time I asked.
That's a good question. Does anyone know? I would love to pick up god of war with some GR credit.
My friend when was the last time you actually saw GR drop the price of a game when it has univerally dropped everywhere else at the same time?

Haven't seen that in a long time so it will probably take a couple of weeks before GR changes the price.

They dropped those EA games pretty fast when the MSRP changed...

But yea, they still haven't done alot of MSRP markdowns. Suffering: Ties That Bind is still 44.99 used there, when a new copy is 29.99 everywhere else.

I agree and I don't understand why, Game Rush claims they want to be the #1 game store and they offer the best trade in prices. But they have to offer new prices that are competitive as well or they will never be able to compete with Gamestop or Best Buy.

I can check on the Gran Turismo and God Of War prices today. If they haven't dropped yet, I would expect them to next week as this is not only a price drop, but both titles are now Greatest Hits. This increases the possibility that the prices will be changed quickly at GR.

LOLOLOL best buy?!!
LOLOLOL best buy?!!
Well seeing how Wal-mart actually outsells everyone in videogames I would not consider Best Buy as THE video game location.

A few trade-in values (Yes, I need to update the OP).

And the prices on God of War and Gran Turismo 4 have not dropped to $20 yet.

25% - 50% off on new game is very COOL. I wonder when it start ??

I am pretty sure this was a hypothetical sale and probably wouldn't include new releases. This GR has many new (as in not opened) older games collecting dust on the shelves and taking up space.

Yes, that was just PURE SPECULATION on my part given the info that they were going to consolidate the game section and get rid of some new games combined with the info earlier (from another CAG) that there might be a big clearance sale around Easter. It is entirely possible that they will simply crate up many of their older new games and send them to another location, though I wish they would have at least a 25% off sale first :D.

That would be nice, of course they would have to be more than 25% on most of those titles.

Does anyone happen to know the current trade in value for a PS2 console(old fat version) at GR?... or Gamestop/Eb's current trade in values..

My brother in law wants to replace his older PS2 because it refuses to run God of War (but runs other games). He's interested in grabbing one of the newer slim models I think.

Anyways if anyone knows anything that would be cool, I would try to call my local stores but I usually get idiots or jerks who refuse to give trade-in values over the phone.

thanks in advance for any help.

Traded in -

Quake 4 (X360) - $35 (surprised it was still getting that)
Animal Crossing (DS) - $15
True Swing Golf (DS) - $15

Picked up -
Super Princess Peach (DS) - They had 3 copies of this but only got one of Mario Kart? Go figure...
24: The Game (PS2)

Another little clue about the future (or non-future) of Gamerush:

I went in to pick up my preordered copy of 24, there was a girl working there who was new, and she didn't know anything about the Gamerush stuff so she had to get another employee to find the game. So, in this case anyway, a new employee was not trained or informed about Gamerush at all, apparently. Hmm...!

There's people who've worked a BB for years that have no f'n clue how to do anything other than rent out movies/games and ask if you want to join the rewards club, your point?

Wow, that sounded dickish. Just saying that one of the problem GR has had is that there isnt a constant knowledgeable (love mis-spelling that word...) staff working the counter.

Use Up Your Credit, It's All Over!!

No, seriously. I don't think we need to start overanalyzing every little thing when it comes to Gamerush's fate. If anything, they might close a few combo stores in overlapping areas, or dissolve the Gamerush "brand". I still expect Blockbuster to carry new/used games, just not as many.

Well, at my GR they can't stop shuffling employees around the district, shipping off all the experienced GR people to regular BB's and bringing in GR-ignorant people into GR. But they've been doing this for several months now, so I don't see it as having any bearing on the viability of GR.

I see. I guess my GR had just been a bit better-than-average up until now, as most of the employees had at least half a clue about things. This is the first time I had encountered an employee who just did not know what to do. Not her fault, obviously, the training is just not there.

finished black for ps2 already. its a ho hum game. was expecting more than the game provided. will be trading it in shortly. does anyone expect GR to keep on giving less money for a game the week it comes out vs 2-3 weeks later, as SOP (usual). Since this one was sold at 39.99, expecting about 25-28 wouldnt be too bad.

You've got your hopes way too high, try $19 trade-in for Black. I asked the manager how much it would trade in for when I was debating picking up Black or 24. They both trade for $19 (24 and Black). But the Black that he scanned was the Xbox version.

First of all, if Game Rush ever disappeared, it wouldn't happen overnight...they would sell off their games over the course of several months. Second, Blockbuster has been selling new and used video games for around 20 years now. Even if they stop taking in trades, your store credit would still be good for dvd purchases, movie rentals, game rentals, new games, and previously-viewed games. Not to mention the fact that you can always sell your credit on Ebay for at least 90% of face value.

The bigger danger is not Game Rush shutting down, but Blockbuster as a chain. Getting rid of late fees was a pretty dumb move for a company that has been losing over a billion dollars a year because people are buying cheap dvds (i.e. not from Blockbuster) instead of renting. Of course, Blockbuster stores would continue to operate even if the company went bankrupt, as I'm sure another chain would snap up all their prime locations and convert them.

What's funny, is that Blu-Ray and other high definition formats might actually save Blockbuster next year. Sony has announced that Blu-Ray discs will be released like VHS movies used to be...with a high initial price at launch and a lower price a few weeks later (When I worked at a video store in the 90s, we paid $100 per VHS tape in order to get them a few weeks before the $20 consumer release. That all ended with the rise of DVD.). That is likely to increase rentals if the new formats catch on...and since the PS3 comes with a Blu-Ray player...it seems inevitable that it will be a popular format in 2007.
Anyone have the trade in value for Dragon Quest VIII(PS2) and Soul Calibur III?
Around $22... they sell for $45 used I think, so half the value of that.

You'd probably get a bit more selling DQ 8 on here.

yeah, I was just wondering. If it was around $28 or $30 I'd probably go there. Well off to dump off SC3

Trade in update:

DOA 4 (360) $35

Battlefield 2 (Xbox) $19

I inquired about any upcoming deals and the clerk said they haven't received any news, this is usually their dry month on trade in's and that they'll probably have a trade in deal around April, confirming the speculation I first heard here.
some trade in prices

:psp: Need for Speed Underground Rivals $12.50
:psp: NBA $7
:gba: Final Fantasy IV $10
:gba: Wario Ware, INC. $4.50
Was that Sony's NBA game?

I hope a new deal comes along, but I doubt it....oh well. I may just unload the rest of my trade fodder I have here.

I am on my way to GR stores in my area... I went on their website to find locations closest to me and it appears that 2 GR stores that I know for a fact exist aren't listed anymore. But I am leaving soon to see and question them why they aren't listed... I'll be back with an update!

UPDATE: Just came back from 3 GR stores... one had a 2 $9.99 games for $15 sale going on. The others are still GR stores even though the website doesn't list them anymore. CSRs didn't know anything about the GRs being discontinued.

BREAKING NEWS: 50% clearance on selected games and accessories starting in late March-early April. I saw the map today since I work at a GR. No specific details were given except for the fact that there was going to be a "clearance sale to make room for new merchandise."

More details will follow as I get them
