Sales Rumors/Upcoming Deals

There will soon be an additional 300+ items added to the 50% off sale that is currently going on. A list will be made available on here when GR's finally get the email (current expected date 4/20).

Okay, I think I saw the list of new titles that are going to be added to the 50% off clearance, but I'm not 100% certain that's what the list was. Call me 95% sure at this point. The prices for these games will be active tomorrow if they are indeed 50% off.

I remember it was in August. They didn't start taking pre orders until there was a final word on pricing. Hopefully with Sony and Nintendo they'll start taking them before June!

One of their worst ideas? Who cares. You aren't buying the system for the name. It still has the same controller. Still has the same games. Big frickin deal what it's name is. Though i actually like it.

I could care less about the name, EXCEPT that I know I will get blank stares (or worse) if I ask about it at GR. When I asked about the Revolution half of them, at least, knew what I was talking about. I might just have to wait for one of you to find out when preorders are starting :D.
 
I don't get why everyone is overreacting about the name. There really isn't anything to it.

When you say to a friend of yours to come to your house and play some games, do you say "Hey, wanna come over and play some DDR?" or do you say "Wanna come over and play my PS2?" You probably won't be even saying the name often at all.

Although I have to say, to the masses it'll probably make them view Nintendo as even more kiddy.
 
It seems a little silly to have built up so much press and such a following behind the name Revolution to change it at the last minute. Sure they said it was a code name, but after almost two years of calling it the Revolution, you give yourself six months or less to get people on board with the name Wii prior to a launch before the end of the year.

Funny you should mention this. Went to GR a few minutes ago and asked about the "Wii". The guy there thought I was talking outta my arse! When I told him that it was Nintendo's next machine, he kept insisting it was called the Revolution. I gave up after he asked "the game expert" who of course knew nothing of Wii. We'll see who has the last laugh GR!!

On a side note Battlefront 2(Xbox) still gets a whopping $27!

I assume you mean Antigrav - or did you combine Groove and Antigrav in your trade-in? :D

I'm surprised Antigrav gets so much considering it is $10 new. Eyetoy Groove w/camera is only a $6 trade-in and they sell that for more new ($15 I think?).

And we are only discussing the new name with respect to the hassle it will create in trying to preorder it with clueless GR employees :roll:.

Hey, here's something I haven't heard discussed in a while - are those GR's in SoCal still giving the 25% bonus credit? They were doing that WAY past the official end of the promo, but I haven't seen it mentioned recently.

Just patiently waiting for SOME new trade-in deal...

Oh, you BOUGHT them for that price. I don't know why I thought you meant trade-in prices :D. Well, partly I thought that because EyeToy Antigrav is $10, not $7.50. Wierd that it would be different at your store. Everyone else here has gotten it for $10.
 
I finally hit the one other GR that's relatively close but that I keep driving by and found numerous bins overflowing with disk-only and former rental games and miscellaneous accessories. I didn't pay any mind to the games as I pulled them out and stacked them on the floor to check out the accessories.

I found a Wavebird for $15 and USB-enabled GameShark for GBA for $10.

And trying to put all the games back in the bins without causing an avalanche was quite an adventure.

I also found Logitech wireless Xbox and PS2 controllers for $17 and $10 respectively. Some stores I've been to put a blue dot and new-price stickers on the used accessories, and some don't. When I brought these to the check-out and asked to double-check if they'd be half-off after totalling, the guy said he'd get in trouble if he had to void things out and give me a credit. After he calls his supervisor over and she asks me if I got them out of the bin, I tell them that I've had experiences where the used accessories were also half-off. The supervisor tells him to do something (forgot what she called it) and it was successful. They're both surprised, and he said that he wondered why it wasn't advertised.

So $40-something dollars later I walk away with super-cheap wireless controllers for all three consoles, plus a typing-free cheat device. All things I don't really need. Nice. Damn, I should really start refilling my GR credit so I won't be paying "real cash" for all these purchases.

EDIT: Looking at these controllers now, it seems they're the older 4-battery versions. Still a pretty decent deal, but if I don't like them, I'm sure I can dump them for a decent return.
 
Did Rumble Roses go up in price at GR?

I thought I saw it posted here and at a BB/GR that Rumble Roses was $5 after the 50% off.

Went to a BB/GR today and it was priced at $14.99, thus making it $7.50 after the half off.

Granted, I did not ask anyone to scan the price since I foolishly went there on a Friday night.

So is this an increase at your BB/GR or have I found a fluke?

It actually went down. I bought it a couple of weeks for $10 then bought someone another copy this week for $7.50.

Killer 7 dropped to $14.99, so you can pick it up for $7.50 now. Also, I saw a copy of Fable at my Gamerush, but it keeps ringing up as The Lost Chapters when they scan the normal barcode on the box. They said the regular Fable isn't in their system anymore...weird. One of the Gamerush managers I know well told me that the BB executives are planning to phase out GR in the upcoming months, so this 50% off sale is an attempt to increase sales for this quarter by GR marketing. Don't know the validity behind this info.

the crazy part was the tag said 29.99, that was game and eye toy, but when she told me the total i checked receipt, so i was happy
 
All these rumors about GR going away is starting to make me kind of nervous.
I think I am gonna have to start using up my credit.

Since Antigravity dropped, I wonder if the Groove Bundle or Kinetic dropped as well. If anyone gets a chance to check what the prices for these games are:

Shadow Hearts : Covenant
Groove w/ Eyetoy

Anyone know how much a used PS2 Street Fighter controller goes for before 50% off? I know mine had a Ken but I didn't have time to ask for a price check.

Io, you were asking about the extra 25% credit being given in the So.Cal. stores right? That finally dried up. I don't remember exactly when but I know it went on about 2 months after it was supposed to be over.
 
Anyone know Kensen III and GunGriffon Allied are still holding their trade-in values reported on the OP? I would call but I am at work.
 
Still no Metroid Prime Hunters at my GR. They did, however, get Brain Age (it wasn't there last time I checked late last week and I asked them to save one - of course they didn't but there was still one on the shelf). So at least they haven't been totally cut off/forgotten by Nintendo or Blockbuster corporate.

I'm going to ask them to switch my MPH preorder to Rogue Galaxy next time I'm there. Yeah, they'd have to make up the $15 difference, but I think they should given how long I've waited for my preorder (plus it was a $29.99 deal preorder so it should be OK).

So, we're getting close to "the holiday." Any word on what the trade in deal might be?

I was thinking... How great would an extra 25% be on trade-ins, and then 25% off of preowned titles. Both have been done in the past, just not at the same time.

Does anyone think GR will carry the 360 HD-DVD when it is announced? Just curious....credit to burn....which may go to a PS3, if it lasts that long.

SSX On Tour (PS2 / GC / Xbox) $19.99 ($9.99 with 50% off)
Killer 7 (PS2 & GC) $14.99 ($7.49 with 50% off)

I just bought SSX On Tour for $15 there two weeks ago too! GR is a bitch with returns though, so I'll save myself the headache and absorb the extra $5.

Wow, they just really want to mock me with that SSX price (since I used the trade 2 preorder deal and paid $30 on top of that). Oh well, when it goes 75% off hopefully I can pick up another copy for my brother-in-law. Nice cheap present :D.

I also bought a Killer 7 as part of this sale and, like you, I'm probably not going to push for the refund. I DO expect them to let me switch that MPH preorder to Rogue Galaxy though - just need to steel myself for that encounter.

By the way, I keep seeing more and more Xbox 360 systems in my little out of the way GR. It kind of pisses me off, in fact, that they get so well supplied with those but not half that games I've been wanting. And watch them not even order Wii's.
