Current Trade-In Deals

Trade in 2 games, preorder any game for 29.99!! (July 19th - ??)

Restrictions and rules below:
Alright, I read the map today and here's some stuff on the new deal:

- As has been said, it starts on July 19th. I cannot remember offhand the date that it ends.

- Trade any 2 games, get any preorder for $29.99. I forgot to check if XBox 360 games are included in the deal, but as most people have already stated, I highly doubt it.

- The two games that are traded in for the deal must retail for at least $7.99 each (preowned price).

- The credit can still be applied towards the $29.99.

1 out = $14.99 the first month....$19.99 thereafter

2 out = $24.99 the first month...$29.99 thereafter

You must have a credit card/check card to signup. Checkcard must be visa, mc, amex, dc, or diners club. You can also do it by getting a prepaid visa, mc, dc or amex card with at least $1 on it so it will clear the authorization and just pay for it each month (very tedious though). You can cancel at any time. Good on any rental game (gamecube, psp, nds, gba, xbox, ps2).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

$0.99 Retro Games

All Dreamcast, Snes, Genesis, and Nes games are $0.99. Games available depend on which store you go to. Games may not be marked as $0.99, but they will ring up that price. Trade in value of all games on these systems is now $0.25.

This should have alot of stuff so please just search around the website before asking questions.
Hey has anyone preordered Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike from GR? I went in today to trade in a couple games to pay for and preorder it. The GR guy couldn't find it in the system...... Maybe it's in the system but he just cant find it? I hate this GR 90% of the people working here are incompetent and should be fired and or hanged. I wonder what EB gives for MVP 2005 and GTA double pack both for xbox. I tried to call and the guy said he wasnt allowed to give prices over the phone.

I'm always bitching about this store but i continue to go there because it's literally a 5 minute walk from my house. I shudder when i walk through the door and see this one particular idiot behind the counter he needs help to do EVERYTHING. The guy has been working there longer than i've been going to this store and i've personally seen him told how to check out a paid for preorder at least 4 or 5 times just for me and he still needs help everytime.
No sense in "wasting" a trade two to get one for $30 on this game. It's MSRP is $29.99, so should be available for less this week at BB,CC,Fry's, etc. Maybe a PM is in order at GR if you want to use credit.

I already have every game i want for the rest of this year preordered along with 2 360 games i snuck through for $30 each during the first time they had this deal. So i'm not really wasting them as i dont want to pay $30 cash for GR2SS i'd rather give those games which i'll never play again for it. I'm all tapped out on GR credit, it took a while but it's all gone.

Well, the point is you're not saving anything by trading in two games to get a $30 game preordered for $30. You're not losing anything either, since you're also getting the credit for the trade-ins. It's just not actually a "deal" in this case.

Shady: I tried to preorder Summit Strike from the Newport Blockbuster and the Manager Mark couldn't even find it. All he could find was Advanced Warfighter coming out in November.
I traded in (all Xbox):
Black Hawk Down:$30
Jedi Academy:$8
kill.switch:$7
Shellshock 67:$8
preordered:
Ultimate Spiderman
X-Men Legends 2
damn Doom 3 CE $30 need to take that and some GT4's ($28) and pick up some good games.
gt4 is 20.25
it is 28 in Texas.
cool, maybe it'll bounce back in Cali tomorrow, but if i were you, i would unload tonite
cool, maybe it'll bounce back in Cali tomorrow, but if i were you, i would unload tonite
i had six copies and went to three different gamerushes and got a total of $168 in credit and preordered SOCOM 3, bully, and for $10 more i got Quake 4 for xbox 360 (that is YMMV i got lucky) so i ended up with $88 left over, but that Quake 4 is YMMV.
has anyone tried pricematching the trade in value. I received a flyer saying they will give 110 % of the competitivies trade in price.
Yes, they do it, but only if the trade-in price is less than the price at which they sell the game used. I've pricematch a couple of times, but you need a written quote from the other store (ie. a receipt or an advertisement).

So finally some new Gamerush news:

There is a new deal scheduled to begin August 9th I believe. Trade in any 3 PS2, XBox, GCN, GBA, DS, or PSP games, receive an extra 25% trade-in credit. I didn't see anything on exclusions to the deal, though trading in 4 Madden 2003's would net you just an extra .50.

There will be a Labor Day sale on games. Being the awesome American that I am, I don't know when Labor Day is. The sale is buy 1 get 1 free on games that cost $6.99 or less. Not bad, there are some good $6.99 games, like Mark of Kri and Maximo.

The price on Blaster Master and Sno Cross on PS1 dropped to $2.99 brand new. With buy 1 get 1 free this works out to $1.50 each. I played Sno Cross a few years ago and it wasn't horrible, but I haven't played Blaster Master.

Expect some price drops on controllers in the coming weeks. This is probably to clear out the stock of Spiderman and Incredible Hulk controllers that hovers over every Gamerush store like the plague.

Concerning Madden 06, each store is scheduled to receive between 45-50 PS2, 35-40 XBox, 3-4 GCN, 3-4 NDS, and 0 GBA. Rental wise I believe its somewhere around 20 PS2, 12 XBox, and 2 GCN, though those might be off a little bit.

Game sales are up 8% over last year, a number that conflicts with reports of Blockbuster abandoning the Gamerush project. Game rentals are down 7%.

Trades have been steadily dropped at all stores. Of course, when you have a loophole-ridden deal that can easily be profitted from (trade 3 get 1 for $5) you're going to get a lot more trades. So I don't find that too worrisome.

For those wondering about the Ghost Recon 2 expansion, it is under a different name, which I believe is under GR:Summer Strike.

Hmm...this potentially looks even better than the trade 3 get 1 for $5. I wonder if they'll make more restrictions in time for this deal? Because you know the flippers will be all over this.

Sept. 5th, Drfrielgood :D. Is the sale for the whole weekend or just on Labor Day itself (which is a Monday of course)?

Excellent news on that 25% bonus trade-in. I wish I had held a GT4 and KOF:MI for then! Wonder if this will work in combination with the preorder deal or if that will be YMMV as always (and not at my GR any more)?

The incentive on this new deal is to trade in newer games that you just completed. Usually I like to hang on to games, but the 25% bonus on a $30 trade-in is almost too good to pass up.

umm...that deal is no where near better than the trade 3 get 1 for $5 deal... that deal can earn you up to $30 extra credit even when trading crappy nonsports games. This new deal only nets u 26.25 extra at MOST and thats if you trade in 3 games worth $35 in credit...but seriously...who is going to trade in three brand new games

io, the sale will be for the entire Labor Day weekend. Didn't see anything about the extra 25% and preorder deals not being stackable. I have no problems with customers using both at my store, but I can't speak for the more anal Gamerushes.

I'm sure my GR will come up with a reason not to combine them - oh well, I don't have many more preorders I want anyway, so I'll go for the bonus value if I have to choose.

Thanks for the excellent info. You seem to be our sole source for now :D.
You'll be glad to know that I unloaded 6 cheap-ass console games and 6 cheap-ass GBA games from my local GR and dumped them on EB for their GT4 and Nintendogs deals. Most of these were shelf sitters that people didn't even buy during that Buy 5 Get 5 sale a few weeks back (which I missed). Buy 2 Get 1 free combined with the actual cash cost of my GR credit means I got these games from EB for about $8 each out of pocket.

I noticed that my local BB's have done another employee shuffle - I was at a BB about 30 miles from the GR and one of the GR dudes is working there now - said he was just transferred. And my GR has at least 3 new employees I've seen in just the last 2 visits. Why do they DO that? Just when a person gets comfortable with all the GR stuff (deals, preorders, etc) they yank them out to a regular store and put a newbie in their place.

What do you all make of this:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58540

Posted by CheapyD himself and verified by several other people - none of whom are regulars on the GR thread. Very strange. I was at a BB today and certainly saw nothing like this.

It would be great to get some new release games at $10 (or 3 for $20 really) in excellent condition even if they don't have the original case art and manual. Anyone seen anything like this at their GR or local BB? Drfrielgood, ever heard of this? This obviously isn't the occasional disc-only trade-in, but some sort of Blockbuster rental overstock or something.

Just to update, GT4 in Florida is getting the $20.25 trade in price, at least last night. Guy at the counter thought that was a weird number. Probably should have just eBay'd it, but used in the pre-order deal I convinced myself it was really $30.25. ;)

KOF was still getting $18.

I also got a huge print-out during the trade-in process (not the purchase) with a bunch of class-action lawsuit coupons regarding late fees - two free rentals and five $1 off anything non-food. Considering I haven't rented from Blockbuster in years, I guess that was pretty nice of them. It must have just recently flagged me to receive these, since I just traded in some games last week at a different store and didn't get anything.

And yeah, if the extra 25% combines with the preorder deal, that would be a nice way to ditch a lower-value game with your two higher-value preorder trades.
Well, the point is you're not saving anything by trading in two games to get a $30 game preordered for $30. You're not losing anything either, since you're also getting the credit for the trade-ins. It's just not actually a "deal" in this case.
Well i never said i was trying to do the "deal" that was the guy you told me not to waste trading them in.:booty: I'm just getting rid of stuff i dont play 4 something i play. I have everything else preordered already.

Cool, howdy neighbor. I go to the Florence store usually, most of the employees are dumb though. My buddy lives in Newport and goes in that store all the time he's got a goofy lookin mohawk you've probably seen him.

I'm worried about GR2SS now because it was the usual GR guy who told me he couldn't find it and now your manager. I hope they get it in, EB gives squat for trades.

Sucks everyone got burned on BHD, luckily i rented it (free rental coupon)and kept my copy sealed. It's now at Sam Waltons house.;)

Only certain stores get shipments of these disc only games from corporate. You'd notice if your store had them because they are usually on an endcap all bunched together. I know at my local GR's, only one out of the seven gets these games.

Fair enough. Next on my list is X-Men Legends 2 and (depending on what GR will give me for a couple games - new Harvest Moon, Four Swords) Rainbow Six: Lockdown.

Hmmm, i didnt notice this earlier. I'll just call tonight and tomorrow and see if they got it in.

A little off topic but has the release day of video games now been changed to wednesday instead of tuesday? Not just at GR but all stores. I've heard several times that retailers were trying to get this done because of the fact that dvds and cds usually release on tuesday and they want you to have to come that day to get that new release and then come back again to get a game release. They are hoping for more impulse pruchases from all of us. BHD last week came out everywhere on late tuesday/wed. and GR2SS is still showing as ships today on EBgames site........

See my post on them being refurb. Also, SMs can request them if they sell well.

Traded in two games today:
Forza $30
Jade Empire $14

Pre-Ordered BULLY for XBOX. I think my list is up to 11 pre-orders now.
I know Quake 4 is in the system as $50...although, that's under XBOX. I pre-ordered it, I hope they let me switch it to 360 when the time comes.

is rockstar not going to pull the plug on bully?

Just got my EGM with the bad Death, Jr review. I'll still keep my preorder on it though and see for myself.

However, they gave the new Hulk game a high rating, so maybe I'll preorder that. I had assumed that would suck, so I didn't even consider a preorder before now. But I bet my son will like it. We have the Hulk movie game and he really hates the stealth missions - the EGM review specifically states that there is none of this nonsense in the new game!

Sounds like a good game to preorder in combination with the 25% bonus credit if I can get away with it :D. That and LOTR:Tactics for PSP. Hopefully I can trade 4 games, get the 25% bonus, and do the 2 preorders. There's a certain employee who will probably let me do both even if the rest don't combine the deals. She once let me combine trade 3 get a PO for $5 with a $29.99 preorder - that was a shocker.

The new in-store gamecube demo disk has Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. GREAT beat-em-up with plenty of explosions :)

Wow, I hope my stores let me combine deals....I didn't even think of that. As for Bully, not sure if they are pulling it or not....if they are, oh well....but I haven't heard anything.

Does anyone know when trade-in values are changed in the system? Someone mentioned something a while back about it being Tuesdays. Is this true or is it pretty random? Just curious if the trade-ins I quoted today (new Harvest Moon: $12.50, Four Swords: $17) will be valid through the week or if I need to get on it or miss out.

And, assuming they do change (if I want to wait till Aug 9 for the extra credit possibility), is it generally a big swing or a buck here and there?

Yes, usually Tuesdays, though it seems lately there have been some mid-week changes. As for the price swings, they actually tend to be fairly large. For example, KOF:MI went from $25 to $16, but then back up to $18 the following week. There was the drop in GT4 from $28 to $20.25 but that seemed to be only in some places (CA and FL?). That was the first regional price difference we've ever seen here.

I wouldn't expect the new Harvest Moon to change at all in the next few weeks. Four Swords certainly could though. You *should* be good on those price quotes through next Monday though (but no guarantee!).

Yeah, I'm gonna hold out till next week, see if I can get that extra 25% combined with the preorder.... if I can, I doubt Four Swords will drop $4 (though it certainly could), and I agree Harvest Moon likely wouldn't drop after a week of likely good sales. So I should be able to at least come out even. I'll take my chances.

Two words : double dip

Yeah, double dipping would be great for these deals. I wonder if they will crack down on that kind of thing though, guess we'll find out next week

IO, the Hulk game got an 8.9 from OXM, so it should be great. That will be my next preorder. Hopefully the GC version will be as good as the xbox/ps2 version. (sold my xbox)

Played the demo today. It's a pile of crap. The slow down is horrible, the graphics leave something to be desired, and the controls are stupid.

Hmmm... Are you saying just the GC version is bad and the PS2 would be better, or that the game itself is like that (in all versions)?

can you switch preorders? Ex. I have PSP GTA game preorder at 39.99 (got it with the preorder deal) wll they let me switch it to another game? If so can that game be a 49.99 game or does it have to be 39.99?

anyone get GR2:SS today? I was gonna call but then i'd have to go get it and i need to go to sleep sometime before work(3rd shift).......... I'll go in the morning and get it if they have it.

Switching preorders is YMMV. I think most stores allow it - mine tends to be picky about it but if you have a good reason they might allow it. It shouldn't matter about the price difference assuming you used the $29.99 deal to get it in the first place. It is probably a little easier now that there is an active $29.99 deal - they can just "deliver" your first game and then ring up the new preorder and scan the promo code. That's how they tend to switch them at my store.

As for the stackable deals, Drfielgood says he sees nothing in the fine print that says you can't. However, I imagine that would also be YMMV if for no other reason then some stores made a point of NOT allowing double-dip in the $5 bonus deal and thus might assume they are not to allow it in this case too, never mind the actual details of the deal.

Well, the fine print of the preorder deal on Gamerush.com says can't be combined with other offers or discounts. So unclear at this point.
