Game Pass

Rent unlimited games for a month. You can have one game (or 2 depending on the pass) out at a time and can return it whenever you want and switch it out as many times as you want.

$21.99 for 1 Game

http://www.gamerush.com/rules_gamepass.php click this link to find out about gamepass at Gamerush.

You must have a credit card/check card to signup. Checkcard must be visa, mc, amex, dc, or diners club. You can also do it by getting a prepaid visa, mc, dc or amex card with at least $1 on it so it will clear the authorization and just pay for it each month (very tedious though). You can cancel at any time. Good on any rental game (gamecube, psp, nds, gba, xbox, ps2).

Does Pokemon Channel still have a high retail price? TRU here still has like 20 copies...need to find out what they trade in to GR for.

My GR in Dallas, TX is doing the trade 2 get a new release pre-order for $29.99. I saw a huge sign for the promo when I walked in my store last night. I asked the store manager when the promo was going to end and she said she didn' t know.

Don't know if its local or a national thing. The GR website has no mention of it.

I would assume local, but I'll check this week.

Any info if 360 games are included?

I saw a coupon code for buy 2 pre-owned get 1 free at GR today. The dates were 2/18-4/4. So that may be coming soon.

Does anyone know GR's policy on returning sealed games? 14 days, 30 days, 60 days, etc? It dosen't say anywhere on the receipt, oddly enough.

Got Wild Arms 4 for $50 (all in trade in credit, though), but I might as well return that copy if I can get it from Best Buy for $25.

Even if you can't get it from BB, I think the game retails for only 39.99...

Best Buy has it for $29.99 now, a GGC makes it $24.99... even though I used credit from Gamerush, I'd rather just buy it from Best Buy since GR charged me $49.99 and I'll just use that to snag Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX.

Should be 30 days; that's at least the policy for used games, can't see it being any shorter for new.

GR is starting this lame trend of overcharging for a lot of games. They have the new Shadow Hearts listed at $50 and Age of Empires DS listed at $40. There are others that I can't think of right now...

So, it has been a LONG time since I picked up a preorder (early Dec), but there are a ton coming in this month, starting with Chibi Robo and Tales of Legendia tomorrow (or Weds). This will be a good test to see if GR is slipping further with getting new games in.

Thanks a ton, back it goes then.

That ($49.99) combined with my existing trade - in credit ($38) plus one more copy of Geist ($24) gets me enough to grab Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max, Resident Evil: Deadly Silence, and Megaman Maverick Hunter X, and I can be done with Gamerush for awhile now.

This way I can just return Kuon and Echo Night Beyond back to Gamestop and get my money back for those, and not play the waiting game.

I'm hoping they will get the new Capcom releases on time, since they got MMHX pretty quickly.

io - GR always got new nintendo releases in on a timely manner... Chibi Robo should hopefully be on time.

I'm still debating Resident Evil DS. I have a feeling if they have a copy for sale when I go to pick up Chibi Robo (hopefully any day now), I'll probably pick it up, since a $34.99 price tag will equate to under $20. I think it had a release date of this week along with Chibi, correct?

Other than that, got AOE DS on the way, and I'll be preordering Princess Peach, Odama, and Tales of Phantasia (since it appears there won't be a trade-in deal, judging by the B2G1F coming up). Besides, I only have about $200 or so in credit, so might as well.

That is very questionable...do you remember Battalion Wars? That took like two extra weeks to come in.

2/7/05.

IGN put up an awesome preview that sold me on the game... it has all the FMV's and voice work from the original ps one game, plus a special Rebirth mode that changes the mansion, to include touch screen and microphone puzzles, among other things.

Seems like its alot more then just a straight port, I'm eager to pick it up.

I've seen one site saying RE DS comes out this week, and another saying next week (EB says this week so most likely it is this week). Looks good if you're into that sort of thing (never played an RE title myself):

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ds/residentevildeadlysilence

I successfully switched my AOE: DS to Odama, and got the bump in credit to boot. I will pick up AOE: DS from EB using my credit as they charge the MSRP of $30, as opposed to GR's asinine $40. I already have Princess Peach preordered (that was one of the last preorder deal trades I did). Is Tales of Phantasia in their system? Oh wait, that's the GBA game, not the rumored DS Tales, never mind... I would preorder it but I doubt they'll get it. They never got FF IV. But then again, maybe it is worth preordering, as they might then let me switch it to a $50 game if it doesn't come in :D.

Wow - what a flurry of activity our little thread is getting. Come on GR, we're all anxious for new deals!

No kidding, it seems like I'm making a new one of these threads every few days.

Ha, I've never played an RE game either (I have RE4 from TRU waiting for me to play it) but it's just another one of those tempting DS games.

And my GR actually did get one copy of FFIV (they get one copy of lots of games, it seems). So I'm somewhat optimistic.

Luckily $40 GR credit is still less than $20 cash, better than I can do anywhere else unless Target or somewhere shows up with a hot $20 or $25 release sale price.

Dammit! I hope the GRs don't go out of business too soon because I have over $100 credit on my value card for BB and I was planning on moving back to LA in 6 months or so. Why couldn't there be at least one GR in the Bay Area??
I hear you. It's just that my EB credit is the same way, so I'll be getting AoE: DS for $10-$15 :D. I just have much less EB credit so I try to use it sparingly, and would much rather get things from GR anyway (more convenient and I like them better). Maybe my GR did get 1 copy of FF IV. Like with their one copy of Phoenix Wright, I think there is CAG lurker who picks those things up :D. So if they have Tales of Phantasia for $30 maybe I'll drop a preorder for it - it is the least I can do for them.

On a positive note, it looks like AoE: DS is a good game. I was a bit worried it would get panned like Zoo Tycoon DS.

Not many reviews yet, but it looks promising. If I like it half as much as I like Advance Wars Dual Strike I will be happy. I still can't stop playing that game, I've got 160 or so medals out of the 300 total - lots to do still!

By the way, can you use a BB Gift card/value card at Gamerush? It doesn't mention anything about that on the backs of either card.

Yes you can.

Ok...can anyone confirm if Kuon and Ech Night are back to $24 so I can get a few games?

IT went from $24 to $4 overnight....something sounds really fishy

It doesn't take a genius to realize that there were millions of used copies of the two games and they weren't selling. Sounds so fishy to me...

Does Gamerush sell Xbox Live Points, and if so how much are they sold for?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes.. GR has the 1600 point card for $19.99 last I saw....
sorry guys, no gamerush promos of any type until march.
And you know because??

Alright guys, 2 pieces of bad news....

1) I think echo night and kuon are going to permanent at $4 for trade-in value. I work at GR and I have been checking the system everyday to see if there is a price change. It has been $4 for a while now but the used price of the game changed in the system. It was $39.99 a few days ago but today, the used price is listed at $14.99 and trade value is only $4. So no luck coming our way I think.....

2) No national promos are scheduled for a while. I talked to my district leader and he said they have nothing in store. The only promos that GR is gonna have is gonna be local. I think every GR may have a different promo. It is up to the corporate offices of the individual states to make up a promo to keep GR competitive.

And with that I ask, any other good trade deals at GR? Any older games getting good trade values?

I know at my local GR, espn nfl2k5 (xbox) and project snowblind (PS2) are getting $10 each.

You know, I asked a simple question. No need to be a dick about it.

I have ONE local GR store and they had never seen either game before. The counter monkey was all over Kuon though as he was a "survival-horror" fan and was looking very closely at it.

Once again... it just seemed odd that something dropped like a rock so fast. Especially considering that the trade prices tend to gradually drop.

don't bother with this troll(lordopus99).. he's been dicking around on CAG for a long time...

Thanks racthamp. I don't post all that much. I normally just look for good deals and go on with my day.

It sucks that GR used to be THE store that I'd go way out of my way for, to being a joke. At thispoint.... let the whole Blockbuster chain fold.

The game prices are high for new and used, and the serivce has sucked since the beginning. (at least in MY experience.)

I just stoped at my Gamerush this morning. Along with no current deals, the pre-owned section looked very bare. All systems had about 20-25 games each tops. I think Blockbuster may be getting out of the video game biz.

Yea, mine does at least, theyre the same price as if you bought em online (though if you participated in the kuon/echo night/geist fiasco, you'll be saving some money. ) Theyre 1600 points for $20. I bought some just because technically it only cost me about $8.99
Alright guys, 2 pieces of bad news....

Thanks for the tip on #1... I'm going to go return my Kuon and ENB back to Gamestop today then. It's still weird, with a used price of $14.99 the trade-in price SHOULD be around $7...

As for number 2, what a stupid, stupid idea.

And my 3 local Game Rushes have probably 500 games for every system...you can't make broad generalizations based on one store.

Thanks for the info Bezerker and train. I was going to get the points at Best Buy with a gift card, but they charge $25 for 1600 points and I was wondering how much GR was selling them for.
This is an interesting article, lots of talk about Gamerush:

http://64.233.179.104/search?q=cach...amerush+losing+money&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=1

It is a VERY interesting read, it talks about their video game stock, flipping, preorders, everything.

For some reason it takes forever to load, just give it time.

This is my favorite part:

I also found this on Gamespot's site, on the rumor control section about PS3's not playing used games:

Not sure if "shopping around" means they are going to sell the brand to someone else or if they want to expand the brand out of Blockbuster into different stores, but it could be hell for people with credit, espically since it's on your Blockbuster account or BB gift cards... imagine if GR moved out and you're stuck with BB credit??
that article is funny as hell. doesnt surprise me at all.

as for whether or not they will close down the gamerushes or not, only time will tell.

Well that sucks big time. My GR is isolated. There is no state organization or district leader for GR (just a regular BB guy). So this means they will have NO promos as they only do what's in the MAP. They wouldn't have the will or resources to run their own promos. That really sucks. They need central control of promos and trade-in prices. I mean, we rag on EB and GS all the time, but the one thing they have going for them is consistency - the same deal at (just about, with certain exceptions) every store. You know what you are getting.

Meh...

No, but I think that most people here are seeing a rapid decline in the used game stock at their GR's, not that I think it means they are "getting out of the game business". I just took it to mean they haven't had a good trade-in promo recently, and thought that it would spur them to bring some sort of deal back. Instead, it seems they have gotten rid of the used game purchase deals (25% off and Buy 2 get 1 free) to compensate :D

Gamerush is running towards its own destruction.

They can't offer $24 trade-in credit for Kuon when the customer can buy it for $10 from Gamestop without it eventually kicking them square in the sack.

The trade-in credit provides some shielding from their own stupidity, but it's not anywhere near enough.

Ultimately, video game rental companies such as Blockbuster, Movie Gallery and Hollywood Video need to figure out whether they're going to RENT video games or SELL video games.

Frankly, they need to turn their rentals into permanent sales within a week or two of a DVD release and a month or two of a video game release.
