Game Pass

Rent unlimited games for a month. You can have one game (or 2 depending on the pass) out at a time and can return it whenever you want and switch it out as many times as you want.

$21.99 for 1 Game

http://www.gamerush.com/rules_gamepass.php click this link to find out about gamepass at Gamerush.

You must have a credit card/check card to signup. Checkcard must be visa, mc, amex, dc, or diners club. You can also do it by getting a prepaid visa, mc, dc or amex card with at least $1 on it so it will clear the authorization and just pay for it each month (very tedious though). You can cancel at any time. Good on any rental game (gamecube, psp, nds, gba, xbox, ps2).

I don't take advantage of GR nearly as much as the rest of you, but this not getting games (which essentially amounts to bait & switch) is really starting to piss me off...

Sucessful Pre-Orders:
Dragon Quest
Xenosaga 2
MGS 3
Soul Calibur 3

Pre-Orders they never ordered:
Stella Deus
Atelier Iris
Makai Kingdom
Digital Devil Saga 1&2
Magna Carta
Tales of Legendia

probably Grandia 3
I will now have over $300 in store credit, which amounts to crap unless I can pre-order a PS3. I'm not about to waste credit on some mainstream release that will be $15 in a couple of months. In the meantime, they've taken my trade-ins, made a profit on them and will be making interest on that profit. I say it's time we sue their asses. It's not like they're deals are that hot anymore, so we're not really hurting ourselves on the back-end...

I decided to purge my GameRush account, preordered the following 360 games due in the next month or so

Oblivian
Fight Night Round 3
Burnout Revenge
Blazing Angels Squadrons of WWII
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter

There went a quick $300. They let me change my Blazing Angels Xbox preorder to 360 for $20 price difference

On a side note: (for whatever it is worth)

Saturday at my local BB, I was told they do not rent or trade 360 games (even though they had the trade in value up on the board for COD2 and PDZ). I was told I would have to go to GameRush to trade them in. Yesterday, back in BB to rent a movie, they now accept trade ins and rent 360 games.

Well it looks like I'm going to have to press my GR on whether or not they really ordered a Legendia. The thing is, all those other games you didn't get are Atlus/NIS games and we've known for a while they don't get those (though they shouldn't be taking preorders for them). The only other games I haven't gotten are Viewtiful Joe DS and PopoloCrois for PSP. In both of those cases they have been "on order" but they just never received them. And then my Mario kart preorder they simply sold to someone else. Every other game I have gotten, eventually. Legendia, being a Namco title on the PS2, makes no sense for them not to get in... If I can't get Legendia I'll be pretty pissed if they also don't get Grandia. I was looking for a new RPG to play (not that I don't have plenty of older ones I haven't gotten to yet). Now I need to decide if I want to spend $40 cash for Legendia at Fry's or use my rapidly declining EB credit to get it for $50 there... Or if it is worth the risk to wait for it to drop to $30 or $20.

Edit - h2dk, good to see you back, though it sounds like you are washing your hands of GR :D.

You put up with a ton of crap to keep supporting the chain - if even half of that had happened to me, I would have washed my hands with them, regardless of their deals, since you seem to get some horrible customer service. It would take some kind of miracle for me to shop at GR again regardless of their sales, since I believe the chain is abysmal. Blockbuster dosen't take GR seriously at all, and it shows.

Its funny that your GR sells your preorders, but the one here holds them until the end of time. They wouldn't sell me Megaman Maverick Hunter X because "it was a preorder" even though the game has been out for two weeks now.

On a funny note, the GR local to me finally got in Wild Arms 4, only a month late and $10 more expensive then everyone else.

Well your key quote there is "regardless of their deals". Now that they have no deals, I'm less supportive :D. The problem is that I have a fair amount of credit left. I'm *not* looking forward to getting credit back on my 2 Legendia preorders, as I simply don't want more GR credit (especially if it means I have to spend cash or my EB credit to get the game!). At this point there isn't anything I can switch them to (though that might change so I guess I'll hold on to them for a while). But the thought of switching them to something else they might not get in is a bit depressing :).

As for holding on to prerorders - they *would* hold on to them (after all they are fully-paid for so they should) if they remembered I even had them. Sometimes they do hold them for me. Occasionally, they even call me when they come in. But about 1/3 of the time, I'd say, they forget to check the preorder list and put my games out on the floor. Only once, when I was out of town, did this cause a problem (Mario Kart DS). It was a *little* frustrating that they didn't learn from that mistake though and just did it again with Chibi-Robo (same employee too).

Now that I am leasing a less fuel efficient car (06 Honda Pilot) it is more difficult to run the 25 miles or so out of my way, especially with no decent deals in sight. Too bad they never had any decent preorder deals for the 360, maybe I can talk them out of a t-shirt or two.

Now that my wife wants to take the monthly trip to babies 'r us (due in June), I will get a chance to swing in once in awhile. Of course, as soon as they do something crazy with their trade-in deals, I will be a regular again.

Good God. So today I went back to CC one last time to try to get Donkey Konga 2. I grabbed Rogue Ops and a psx games and went to the counter. I handed her the two cheap games and she scanned them and I handed her DK2. "That'll be $24." I said "Is that with the b2g1 deal?" She looked back at the screen and scanned them in again, this time with DK2 first. Now it was about $1 cheaper. I looked at her and kindly asked her if she would scan them in again in the order I gave them to her. "That won't work," she said. "Are you sure?" "Pretty sure, but I can try it if you want." I did want. She scanned them in the order I gave them to her originally and she said "Yep, it's still the same." I really didn't know what to do, so I just mumbled that I didn't want them then and left.

Dammit, I'm not trying to bilk the company out of 50+ games, I just want Donkey Konga 2 and I can't even get that! What gives, anyway? Is my store not allowing this deal? Should I complain and say that there aren't restrictions of that kind given on the ad? It worked yesterday when I got Animal Crossing for free.

I'm probably gonna go back tonight and be a prick about it. I won't have time to go tomorrow and then it'll all be over. Any tips on this predicament? Was she lying?

Picked up my pre-order copy of Legendia from GR yesterday (Orange City, FL). Only 1 copy though...very odd. Maybe they'll get more in later? Didn't see any going out for rental either...just the 1 copy, alone in a box.

Btw, I have no interest in playing Legendia, so if anyone wants to preorder Odama for me with GR credit I'd trade Legendia 1-for-1. Io?

Good news that at least someone got 1 - so they aren't, for some wierd reason, not getting this game at all.

I have Odama preordered. Supposedly GR has 1 of my 2 Legendia's on order, though they didn't get it in yesterday. I have no idea why they wouldn't order at least 1 copy of this to sell in store. They got more than 1 DQ8. Anyway, if, for some reason, mine doesn't come in I might be interested in this trade. But let's give it a few days and see if mine comes in first :D.

Traded these today... some changes I think..

- Powerdrome(PS2)- $2.50
- The Suffering(PS2)- $7.00
- Project: Snowblind(PS2)- $1.25 (ouch)
- Burnout 2(PS2)- $7.00
- DOAX Volleyball(xbox)- $6.00
- Pinball Hall of Fame(ps2)- $2.50

Powerdrome and Project Snowblind dropped recently I believe.

Oh wow, Snowblind got $10 last week, I had one I was going to take in :(

And Powerdrome is down from $5 too.
Hey guys did we ever get to the bottom of the Geist issue - is it getting $10, or $24, or is it a YMMV?
I was quoted $24 at a regular BB today, but then I went to TRU and couldn't find any more :D.

I got a whole bunch of prices today of things I bought or saw cheap at CC. I printed up a UPC sheet and had them scan at a regular BB. Sucks that Powerdrome is down to $2.50 - I had 3 from the CC sale :whistle2:(

Here is what I was quoted, Saturday night, regular BB:

GC Geist: $24
GC Street Hoops: $2.50
GC Rogue Ops: $1.25
PS2 Tak Great Juju Challenge: $6
Oh, and my Legendia still isn't in , though today, at first, they told me it had come in and they sold it! The manager said that wasn't true though and it was still on order. I was about to get very very :bomb: before he cleared that up.
My GR checked and said they wouldn't be carrying it. It has an asterick by the game name if that's the case.

Traded in 2 copies of galleon yesterday for $19 each.

Also got quoted $12 for wallace and grommit: curse of the wererabbit

Just a note: Power Drome for XBOX gets $12 at BB (no GRs around me) and it can be picked up from CC for $0.96.

Well, I was informed that this is not exactly news, but if there's anyone near the Fremont and Sunnyvale, CA CCs, they had plenty of copies when I was there on Saturday.

Dang, I need a trade-in deal soon! You think they'll ever do the 'Trade 2 games in, get a new game for $29.99' again anytime soon? Haha.
Just a note: Power Drome for XBOX gets $12 at BB (no GRs around me) and it can be picked up from CC for $0.96.

That is the fun part is actually finding CC that actually have it in stock because none of the ones close to me have any in.

My PS2 is slowly dying, so I needed to go in and get another. As I'm out of credit, I had to trade in some stuff I wasn't super-psyched to get rid of. Here's what I got in credit today:

Midnight Club 3 PSP - $18
Sega Casino DS - $10
Crash 'n Burn Xbox - $7 (originally bought from BB for $1, probably cheap elsewhere)
Spartan Total Warrior PS2 - $19
25 to Life PS2 - $19
Romancing SaGa PS2 - $12

This is a rare occurance, but GR actually has Tales of Phantasia (for GBA) listed for cheaper than EB/GS. It is $29.99 at GR, but $34.99 at EB/GS. So if you wanted to get this and want to burn some of that GR credit I would go place a preorder for it now, and pay the full amount (as opposed to the $5 deposit). Now, we'll see if they actually get it in (still no call about my Legendia :bomb: ).

For many other (non-$50) games GR is $5 to $10 more than EB/GS (new Shadow Hearts, AoE DS, Wild Arms, etc).

Thanks to io's make-sheet-of-UPC's idea, I went checked on trade-in values of some fodder I got during last week's CC glitch. (And then some for curiosity.)

Haha, that sucks. I might have to go get a quote from EB/GS on that one and see if they can beat it. Ah well. Luigi's Mansion for $10 is still a good deal without being able to unload the crap I used to get it.

Wow, I'm impressed - you outdid my UPC sheet by a mile :D.

I'm surprised that some of those PS1 titles get as much as they did. I figured they'd all be $0.25 and I'd just keep them as coasters. But maybe I'll trade in a Madden 2004 or two (though you didn't do that one I'd imagine it would be around $1). The other PS1 games I got at CC were Celebrity Deathmatch and Ford Racing.

I'm equally as surprised that they knocked Lego SW all the way down to $6. I'd figure $7 or $8 given the GH/PH status. It should be a fairly easy game to sell to families, so you wouldn't think they'd need to knock it down so much. DMC 3 SE also is a surprise at $6 given that some other $20 games still fetch $7.

Hey everyone,

I just came back from a trip to BB that didn't go so well. I went into the store and walked up to the register and said that I wanted to trade in some games. The guy took them from me and saw that there was 2 PowerDromes and handed them back. "We're no longer taking trades from you, your account is under investigation."

HOLY SHIT.

I guess trading in 8 Geists  was a really bad idea because now my "account is under investigation" whatever that means. And clearly, the guy knew who I was even though I had never spoken with him or even traded in games to him before.

Obviously, I got all the Geists from TRU, very legally, so there's nothing criminal about what I was doing. And I read the trader agreement the first time I traded in at BB and I don't remember it saying it was against the rules to trade in multiples of the same game, except that you could only trade in 2 max. on the same day. Did I miss something? I don't have a copy of the agreement anymore, but there's nothing they can do to me, right? What does this mean for all the credit I've acquired?

When I asked the guy why exactly my account was under investigation, he said "Generally people don't buy more than one copy of a game." I didn't realize it was illegal to legally buy more than one copy! I've kept all my receipts from my purchases, but I guess this means no more trading in at BB ever again.

But, even though I know I didn't steal any of my games, I'm still a bit worried. I mean, there's nothing they can do to me, right???

Has this ever happened to anyone else, or am I just the unluckiest/dumbest schmuck there is?

btw, I have some extra copies of PowerDrome that are worthless to me now, if anyone wants them.

Of course they cannot do anything to you in the law enforcement sense. However, they can ban you from trading at the store. And yes, this has happened to many many people and been reported in this thread in the past (though it might be hard to find - maybe search on "banned" in past GR threads).

We've been through this all before, but while the only stated restriction is the 2 per game per day, they reserve the right to enforce any trading restrictions they want. We have always said the bans are huge overreaction - they ought to just tell you no more Geists and Powerdromes and leave it at that. However, it is possible that they think you are stealing (and it may have never occured to them that games can be bought cheaply and traded in for profit). I would call back and talk to the manager and see if this is what they think is going on. If so, bring in your receipts and clear your name. If they think buying cheap games and trading them in is bad, then tell them you followed the 2 per day restriction which is all you were ever informed about.

When others were banned they were able to keep their credit (assuming of course that they don't think you stole the games - so make sure they aren't under that impression).

Did you trade all 8 copies in to the same location? If not, it is a little strange that you would be found out (even though you did nothing wrong). But trading 8 copies might have just gotten you into trouble at that one store. You might have no problems at other stores. You need to find out if this is a district-wide ban or just local. Also, please tell us what area you are in (don't have to be specific - just what state). Occasionally the district managers will conduct reviews of accounts with lots of trades and ban people as a result.

In general, though, these district-wide review bans have been for people doing things like racking up $10,000 in trade-in credit. I'm assuming you are nowhere near that :D.

This has happened to many others who traded in the same game quite a few times - it sort of raises a flag to BB/GR, resulting in a suspension (or ban, I can't remember) of the person's trade account. Beyond merely "investigating," I doubt there's much they can (or would) do.

Don't worry, you're not the first person to get this problem (and certainly not the last, either)...basically you'll have to wait it out until you're in the clear. I can't remember how long these things last; either a month or 90 days, somewhere around there.

Sorry I can't really be of much help - never happened to me, but I remember several people discussing this last year. Of course, I could be completely wrong, of which I blame it on my faulty memory. ;)

EDIT: Beaten to the punch by io! Haha!

I don't know you and I have nothing against you, but I gotta say you definitely took advantage of the system. When a company discovers someone doing that, they don't have to do business with you any more. They have a right to refuse service, and they have more than enough evidence to back up that decision.

You may not have broken the rules, per se, but I don't blame GR for denying you service. You obviously got your fair share of GR "deals" under your belt, so it looks like it's time to move onto another place for your game-trading needs.

Paraphrasing a quote from Diggstown, one of my favorite movies: "A hustler takes what he can and has to run out of town. A good conman can stay as long as he likes." Looks like you just got run out of town, my friend. We all get a little greedy when we're CAGs in training. The trick is not to over-exploit things -- thus ruining it for ourselves and others. I hope you learned that lesson.

I thought it was really strange because I believe I had only traded in 2 Geists at this location. There are 2 BBs near me and I'm pretty sure I traded in the most Geists at the other one. Also, the fact that he sort of knew who I was as soon as I walked in bothered me a bit. I had never spoken with him before and I had never traded to him. He didn't even scan my card.

Also, I just realized that the day before when I had traded in my haul of cheapies from the CC sale and 2 PowerDromes at the other store, the guy there urged me to take my stuff over to Babbage's because they gave more for trade ins, and he also sort of questioned where I acquired all my games (to which I had, of course, responded that I bought them all). I didn't think much of it then because he completed the trade and put the credit on a value card. But now I think he was urging me to trade in somewhere else because he knew what was going on.

Also, thanks very much for your helpful posts. I'm going to search through the old threads and just see what happened to others.

By the way, this is in Northern California. Also, I only had about $200 trade-in credit, so not anywhere near the $10,000. Heh.

I certainly did a learn a lesson from this. I'm not really blaming BB for its actions, I just think they should put a strict limit on the amount of a certain game that can be traded in if they're going to ban people for doing so. If I can never trade in there again, it would be a bummer, but it is my own fault. My only wish is that I had come across the posts about people being banned before I started trading in. I hate having to learn lessons the hard way, especially when I didn't get the chance to learn it the easy way.

I will gladly pay you for some copies of powerdromes. Or do you have a trading list available?

etc, etc.

I had something similar happen to me last year at FYE. This was when FYE's started doing the paperwork FL mandates for pawn shops and such (which also began applying at most other game trade stores) and some stores had to stop taking game trades while waiting to recieve the necessary materials. I basically ran around Jacksonville and Orlando and one jaunt to Daytona trading in a heck of a lot of games. No more than two of a title at any given time but sometimes coming back again with more. Not all games were "big guns," but each was a money-maker compared to my investment.

I used the credit to buy two PSP's with bundled games. (I could've gotten three PSP's with the credit I'd built up if I didn't have to get a bundled game. So that's something close to $900 in credit, I suppose.) I asked the clerk if I could return the games, but he said I'd have to come back and speak to the manager. The next day I ask, am denied, and am told I'm under investigation in Orlando and Daytona. I should have gone back and asked for what, but I didn't, and I never did.

Eventually after a couple more credit spendings, he tells me I can no longer spend my credit at his store. Fortunately it was the end of the semester, so I could go home and spend it there.

Like you suspect, I think it was because they might have thought I'd stolen these games, but being the pack-rat I am, I had all the reciepts from my purchases. I almost wanted to confront him and ask to speak with who was investigating me so I could share my story and get the suspense over with. They had all my contact info from those forms I had to fill out, but I never heard anything of it one way or the other except for my credit ban at the one store.

Looks like nothing you can do about having your trading account unsuspended, but I don't think it ought to go any further than that. Just to be safe, dig up those reciepts if you still have them.

Yeah, they can refuse to stop trading with anyone.....

Anyways, anyone picking up Full Auto this week? When should they get it, I haven't picked up a pre-order in a while.
Full Auto isn't supposed to be very good at all I thought...
It's not, but it comes with a free faceplate. Odds are that you can return the game and keep the faceplate. I got 2 preordered and plan to return both of them.

Hey all

I just wanted to give you quick update on my BB situation. I called the store manager today and while he wasn't especially helpful (couldn't tell me about the investigation process or who I could contact about it, and didn't seem to care that I had receipts to prove I had purchased all the games), he did say that "Anytime someone trades in 3 or more of the same game, it raises an eyebrow" so I thought you all might be interested in hearing that. I guess "raising an eyebrow" means suspending all trades on the account and putting it under investigation. He did say it might be possible based on the results of the investigation that I might be able to continue to trade there, and I asked him to let me know when/if that happened. I kind of doubt he will though. He also said "If you want to trade at another store it's your business" and that the credit I'd already gotten I would be able to use no problem. So I'm still confused about what exactly the investigation is going to investigate and how they're going to investigate it, but oh well. I just know I won't be trading at BB for a while, and never so greedily as I have done in the past. Lesson learned.
"Anytime someone trades in 3 or more of the same game, it raises an eyebrow"
That's probably true, but many of us have gotten away with that numerous times. I've traded more than 3 of Dead to Rights 2, Kuon, Echo Night Beyond, and Geists (overall, and probably more than 3 at one store a few times). I don't really know what their factors are, but I think it really is if a manager decides to look into trade activity or something.

Hell, at one location ive traded 8 Kuon's, 6 Echo Night Beyonds, 4 Killzone's, 4 Ghost in the Shell's, 3 Resident Evil 4's, and 3 Galleons. No one has said a thing to me, cept for this one jackass who always says "Come to give us some more Kuon's" everytime i come in. Guess you're just unlucky. But yea, maybe you should have a friend/relative sign up for an account and add you as a verified trader, so u can still continue to trade, because if the investigation is on the account itself, it'll show up no matter what location you go to.

Exactly, so 2 bits of good news here. One, it was just at the one local BB (good for you and the rest of us as they haven't done some sort of system-wide review). Secondly, it was just because you traded in multiples to the same store. If this was a regular BB, I can see too many of a single game (even 2 or 3) raising flags as they tend not to get too many game trades anyway. If this was at a GR they probably wouldn't notice 2 or 3. (You keep calling it BB, and not GR, so I assume this was a regular BB? Maybe not). In any case, with ANY of these good games, I try not to trade more than 1, 2 at the most in to any particular location, and never 2 at once (which, though allowed, "raises flags").

WAY back when I first started trading I ended up piling too many copies of NBA Live 2004 into a single regular BB location, due mostly to sloppy accounting (I keep track of what I trade where and just screwed up on this one). When I tried to trade another game in there a few weeks later, at first they told me I couldn't trade. Then the clerk called the manager (at home!) and found out that they just didn't want any more NBA Live 2004 from me :D. Fortunately, I had a different game at the time (I think it was Constantine or something  ) so they took it. But that "raised flags" with me, and I stopped trading all together at that store.

Probably what happened is that they got in a handful of games that week and the manager noticed that they had 3 Geists, which seemed unusual. Then he looked at the trade-in history and found out that they call came from you. Not a big deal, really, especially as he said the credit was OK and that you could trade at other stores (a system-wide, or at least district-wide, ban would be bad, and that has happened to people for similiar things).

Edit - Just saw Berzerker's post - you are really pushing your luck there :D

Yeah, it's just a regular BB because there aren't any GRs anywhere near me. I'd have to drive about 6 hours to get to one. Also, I thought it was really weird that they stopped letting me trade at this particular BB because I know for a fact that I only traded in 2 Geists at this location and 6 at the one on the other side of town. Maybe 2 was the magic number for this guy?

Regardless, I might try trading in a game at a different location in a few weeks or so (not Geist or PowerDrome) just to see what happens.

Is it true what Bezerker said, that they can see that the account is under investigation at different locations?

I think anything done at one store is specific to just that store. I can never remember, but I'm pretty sure even credit you have on your account at one store is not visible at another. So unless a DM puts a flag on your account, I doubt they can see anything at another store.

My GR didn't get in Full Auto today. Hopefully tomorrow.

The faceplates are going for about $20-$25 on EBAY, so it might be worth it to sell it.

Anyone know if GameRush has Far Cry for XBOX 360 for preorder?

Sorry if this topic has already been discussed, but I just came back from local BB, Kuon & Echo Night Beyond are selling for $14.99 Pre-Owned...

Yeah, I plan on selling my faceplate too (if they get them all)

If the game sucks, I feel I can get more than enough for the game AND faceplate.
