6 pages of meh, but some highlights from the last 2 pages:

  • B2G1 on any Pre-owned Wii or DS games p.7
  • Double In-Store Credit when you trade any system p.8
  • 50% Extra In-Store Credit for every game you trade p.8


I know this is usually litepink's thing (props), but I'm not about type out the whole ad when the .pdf is readily available. I wikified the thread if litepink or others would like to add other items of special interest.

Game Stop employee told me they would accept the 360 slim without the HD. I need to trade in mine but I need the HD. I hope I still can.
 
Might trade in my 500gb assassins creed ps3. I bought it, because the Gamestop employee said they would all sell out before black friday. Hopefully I can get $250 trade in for it with this deal!

Has anyone sold an RROD Xbox 360 (Not slim) without a HDD, if so what's the value on it? Every time I ask ask they tell me you'll have to bring in the console to find out.

My local gamestops would not take rrod or e74 consoles. Probably a national policy.

It says right on the bottom of the trades page on GS.com that they take broken systems.

There usually is no minimum limit on % deals. That's only for "trade 3, get $10 extra" type deals.

I've been told that it is at the DMs discretion when I brought that up in store.
 
Anyone know how refurb fees will work with the console double credit? Basically, I have a 40GB PS3 that doesn't read games. As far as I can see, the trade credit will work in one of two ways depending on what order the computer reads the promos:

Either - I trade it in for the 80 base value, they deduct 40 for refurb, and then I get double the 40 = $80 total TIV
Or - I trade it in for the 80 base value, they double it to 160, and then deduct 40 = $120 total TIV

As long as you have all the necessary cables, the system powers on, hasn't had the warranty sealed broken, and the customer doesn't state the system was stolen, any broken system (RROD/YLOD/E74/bad disc drive, etc.) brought in for trade should be taken in with a refurb fee applied. That is a national policy and if stores in your area won't follow that, you need to call corporate and complain.

Same thing goes for any game that is scratched or slightly cracked as long as there aren't chips missing from the side of the disc, the disc isn't cracked beyond the spindle into the data, and the base TIV of the game is $1 or over.

The refurb fee is applied after the promos so the 2nd example. It shows up on the receipt like an item purchased.

Might take this time and $113 credit I have to try rounding out my DS RPG collection. Still a few games I really want. But man is my DS RPG backlog huge already and that isn't even counting Etrian Odyssey 1-3 if I buy the reprints x.x

Guys the more I think about it the system I traded was an e74. He told me they would not take a rrod, but maybe they will if you push it. I did not want to trade in another controller. Sorry for the bad info. Anybody know if a nun chuck had to be traded in with a wii?

By any chance do you know if gamestop takes systems with 3rd party controllers?I always prefer to trade that instead of a 1st party controller, but before has been hit or miss.

YMMV on a PS3 but no problem on a 360, but you lose $10 in credit.
 
Just called, only $180 trade (with double credit) for the 500gb ps3 super slim? Talk about a rip!!!

Such a rip, a few months ago, I traded a 40gb ps3 that couldnt even connect to the internet, for $160 trade during the double system credit.
 
geeze...i literally just finishing packing up my amazon UPS box. So much packing tape this thing could probably float.

...but, for an extra $10...i think I'll be taking this to GS today. (+$1 for the charging dock)

Edit: Woah...glad I called. GS said i'd get $60 for it (and that's w/the trade in bonus). @#$% dat...sending this to amazon.

A few questions trying to help a friend who's slim died on him 1 month after warranty expired . Will they take a dead console ? He says the disc tray opens on its own and it won't read discs . He broke the warranty seal so will they still take it and just hit him with the refurb fee , if so how much is the refurb fee ?

It depends - I know Gamestop's policy is to take broken consoles but it's still up to the manager to set specific store policy. the stores in my area do not take broken consoles (RRoD, E74, etc.). So you'll have to check with the store in question.

Same system and same boat as you. Of course the value probably decreased a little. But knowing the 2nd example you used is how it works makes it good to know. Hoping to trade in my dead PS3 and maybe my 360 to get a 3DS XL.
 
Has anyone traded in a Vita wi-fi? I called 3 different stores and was given 3 different values which were $90 before promotion, $70 before promotion, and $45 before promotion. Not sure which to believe so just seeing if anyone has done it. Was interested in trading my black one in for a white one but if its really low then it's not worth it.
 
Just got back from Gamestop and wound up with $146 for my fat 360 with wireless controller ($65 base and double that is $130) and the other $16 was for my 120gb HDD. Not bad!
 
Got about $200 in credit after trading 60gb fat 360 + games. Of course, it wasn't easy since the workers didn't even know what promos were going on. It's pathetic when customers know more about trade-in values than the workers. Oh well, I won't have to deal with them for a LONG time (hopefully never!).
 
about to unload a 60GB Fat PS3. it can be faulty, so it is time to go. I will have over $500 in credit after this, and i guess it is time to get a Wii U.
 
Bought StarFox 64 3D used today for $24.99 at GameStop for my new 3DS XL. That's the extent of my after-Christmas shopping. Now its time to relax and watch the snow fall here in northeast Ohio.

What is considered powering on? I have 2 360s, both turn on with a green light, but they freeze on start up. None of the stores (5 of them) in my area will take the systems.

Xbox 360 250GB Slim = $90 base (phone quote)

I just bought mine for this price ($180) but was thinking about trading it in because the disc drive is very loud. That still leaves $70 more though that I'd have to pay to get a new one.

Boot to the system's main menu or to an error screen usually. If the system is powering on that should be fine, but apparently stores are having problems following the new guidelines from corporate. A dual-sided, laminated sheet was sent out to each store about systems & disks.

Just confirmed the Vita WiFi base trade in is $60
