Usually they just hand the pre-order items out when you go up and ask for them (if they've already gotten them in). Otherwise, they'll give it to you when you pick up the game. A Couple of times, the clerk hasn't even looked it up in the computer to verify that I actually did pre-order the game in question.

Does anybody know if the Rock Band 2 shirts or the Mercs 2 beanies have shown up in the stores yet?

FYI, my local store already had (and I picked up) today:

-SOCOM Confrontation beta access code
-beanie, magazine, and outfit code for Mercenaries 2
-Kratos sackboy costume code for Little Big Planet

They did not yet have the Rock Band 2 shirt.

Could you describe what the Mercenaries costumes look like? I got a code for preordering at Best Buy and if they're the same I'm not going to bother with GS.

I've seen them at other places I think. I just pulled this image from play.com and its the same ones, so its probably the same outfits no matter where you pre-order.

If I pre-order now will I still get the costumes and beanie or is it already too late even though the game hasn't come out and they are passing out the gifts?

What happened to the Far Cry 2 preorder stuff? It's not showing on their website.
from their email newsletter

FarCry 2
http://www.gamestop.com/browse/ProductMerch.aspx?groupid=188

"Six unlock-able bonus missions and a full-size, open world map."
Here's a link to a copy of the newsletter stating the preorder stuff: http://www.istorez.com/m/sfr/426065

I'm hoping all the stores are getting the bonus missions now; I'd like to preorder from blockbuster instead.

The Little Big Planet pre-order only offers Kratos? I thought Nariko was available too? You guys think the code will be one that works all the time or only good for one time use? Like the Mercenaries outfits I'm sure is good for all time use and it's the same code for everyone.

I'm sure someone mentioned this, but don't forget the Banjo-Kazooie: Nut & Bolts (Xbox 360) bonus. If you pre-order it, then you get a download code for the XBLA game Banjo-Kazooie.

Andfor the people thinking about ordering online through Gamestop for in-store pickup and wondering where they get their bonus... if it's a download code, then they email it to you. I did that for Fable 2 and when I didn't receive an email with the Pub Games code, then I called the store I am supposed to pick up the game at and they said that I could drop by and get a download card there. I did that and the next day I got an email from Gamestop with my Pub Games Code. Don't bother asking me for the extra, I already gave it to my cousin who's buying Fable 2, but hasn't pre-ordered yet. :p Hope that clears things up for some of you. I don't know about other pre-order bonuses.

I was able to pick up the Fallout 3 pre-order bonus (cd & poster). I just asked the clerk and he gave it to me. He didn't ask for a receipt or anything. I guess they must have alot left.

I preordered Fallout 3 online a little while ago for in-store pickup, so would I be able to just take my preorder paper to the store and get the poster + cd?

Yes ihadFG, if it's there then they'll give it to you, if not then come back another time. Call ahead and ask if the gifts have arrived.

Well since I passed by my GS, I stepped in to check, and they had it. The guy didn't even know about it, but had it behind the counter.

Anyone have any luck with the Valkryia Chronicles artbook? I was going to preorder it, but the guy at GS didn't know anything about it. I assume it's an on-pickup bonus?

I have a question about the Mercenaries 2 outfit codes. How doe they work? Are they unique codes good for only one player, or is it just something that you'll end up being able to unlock by finding the code on Gamefaqs or some such site?

Well here, to be courteous and to be sure, I'll post the first digits of my code number so that way someone else can confirm it and I don't risk anything if it is only a one person thing. So someone tell me if it's the same first digits.

5Q2Y are the first 4 digits.

Hmm. Different from my code. The instructions say to plug the code into the game's own Extras menu instead of XBL/PSN so there's a chance that it doesn't actually track codes and they might be shareable.

I don't think it will be shareable because it sounds weird to program different codes for the same cheat. I'm willing to bet that costumes can also be bought on XBL/PSN for a price because of the multiplayer.

Added bonuses Banjo Kazooie, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, Drawn to Life: Spongebob Squarepants Edition, Everquest II, Guilty Gear 2: Overture, and Rise of the Argonauts.

Thanks to all who tried to answer my question. Khloud, this sounds reasonable and makes my decision easier, because I figure that if I wait for the game to be at least $10 cheaper, I might still be able to get teh game and the costumes for less than a full price preorder (the beanie does absolutely nothing for me.) Thanks again.

Don't take my word for it, I still don't know if additional costumes will be available on XBL/PSN or if the code is recyclable. If you really want it, hurry and go drop in a dollar for pre-order, they are sure to have the gifts by now. Then they'll give your gift right after you give them the dollar, afterwards you don't have to worry about picking up the game.

Went in to pick up my preorder for Mercs 2 at Gamestop today and got all my extras INCLUDING a Mercs 2 T-shirt. Shirt seems like a GS employee shirt but the manager just gave it up like it was part of the deal.

Damn...all I got was the stupid beanie. I would have much rather have had a shirt.

When I picked up Mercs 2, I started chatting with the employee about Silent Hill: Homecoming and he told me you get a copy of the movie as a preorder bonus. I checked the site and it didn't mention it, but figured I'd post that info here just in case.

hey, anybody think its completely amoral if i plan to preorder mirror's edge for the bag, and then return it later, without the bag? Can i do that? Or should i just trade it back in for 30 bucks trade in thus spending 30 bucks on sweet sweet bag schwag.

Pre-order game, pick up bag when it comes in, cancel preorder.

or

Pre-order game, pick up game and bag, return game.

or

Keep the game b/c it looks sweet.

It's hard to say really, for Battlefield Bad Company the code for the bonus gun was unique, but for Burnout Paradise the code for Steel Wheels was shareable.

Will Gamestop be offering any preorder deals for The Force Unleashed ?

I've been hearing conflicted reports, so I figured I would get a true answer.

Anybody know about any the new Castlevania DS Pre-order goodies? Missed the boat on the last one, don't want to miss it this time

Just saw on TeamXbox today that if you pre-order Prince of Persia then they'll upgrade it to the Limited Edition. Don't know if it's worth mentioning, but some people may be inclined to pre-order if they get a free upgrade.

Read similar reports on other gaming sites but didn't find an official Ubisoft press release on this pre-order upgrade offer when I ran a search.

Can't imagine that many retailers would be happy with this upgrade offer.

If true, Ubi will be getting my $60.

---

Also, I picked up on a rumor that all Fable 2 preorders were upgraded to the limited edition at no extra cost, but if was from a comment in the Kotaku post on this PoP preorder... (look for Mit's post about 15 down)

Anyone have any idea if this is true? I've also got an Amazon preorder, so I'll check next time I'm at that GS, but maybe someone else noticed...

I just came from my local store, looked at the print out of all the pre-order bonus stuff, and the manager even let me take the print out. I can confirm that GS is getting a 'stormtrooper figure' that will be available when you pick up your pre-order of Force Unleashed. The issue will be that only the first however many who pick up the game will get the figure, dependant upon how many figures they get per store. I'm not saying that EVERY store will get them, because I can't prove that one way or another, but its defnitely on the official pre-order bonus item list now.

Also of note, there are two Gears of War 2 SKUs listed, one says 'DVD' and one says 'Point card' but I have no idea what that means. Hoping its some XBLM points or something. Spiderman Web of Shadows has a t-shirt listed too.

It must not be an exhaustive list because I see a couple of things in the OP (and on gamestop.com) that aren't on this list.

I'm going to try to put a scan of this print out up when I can get to a scanner.

Damnit, everyone kept telling me that there was no pre-order bonus for Force Unleashed, so I just pre-ordered at Blockbuster. Damnit.

So did I...... I'll most likely cancel and pre-order something else at BB. Or maybe get the PSP version instead. Dunno.
If true, Ubi will be getting my $60.

I'm sure that's not true, otherwise that would screw the people over that actually paid more to preorder the LE.

Woww...Facebreaker has to be possibly THE WORST pre-order item I've ever seen and Pure but that game looked alright. Why would you give a demo for pre-order? You can just download it off the net or ask to try it out at GS (Sometimes they let you).
