Hey guys, I figured since we totally hijacked that DS Lite thread to talk about everything from cider to live local music....we might as well have a dedicated thread for it. Especially since I think we definitely have the most robust discussions in the Southeast CAG forum!

I'll kick it off by describing my recent EB experience:

I hit the Northlake EB (the one with the cool manager) today to grab some B2G1 goodness. I ended up getting Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (XB), RE2 (GC), and RE3 (GC), all complete and mint for 86.65. Considering that MvC2 goes for $50-60 on ebay, I thought this to be a pretty good purchase! As I was leaving, the manager guy told me that the North Dekalb store had some rare shit right now too, and that I should check it out. What a nice guy!

Anyway, I f'n hate that EB, but I figured it was worth a trip (its not that far from home). I ended up getting complete mint copies of REZ (PS2), LoZ Promo disc (GC, the one with Master Quest), and Cubivore (GC) for $72.20. Cool.

I also got 3 used DS games (preparing for the Lite on Sun) for B2G1. All three of the games (Trauma Center, Advance Wars, and MarioKart) were complete. But, somehow, as the dipshit was ringing me up, the Trauma manual somehow disappeared from the box! Since they insist upon slapping those damned clear stickers on the edges at sale time, I didn't notice the missing manual until I was on the way home. Jackasses!! Well, they had another complete used copy, so hopefully they can help me out tomorrow....but I'm not counting on it.

In the meantime, this dude with a baby was trading in 20 Xbox games (and getting ripped off, I might add), and the clueless employees there couldn't seem to get it all worked out. That poor bastard must've been there for about 45 minutes, and still hadn't gotten the right trade in credit. UGH.

My two trips today really showed me how utterly opposed two EBs within a few miles of one another could really be. And that is why I always go out to Northlake!

On to more beer talk!!

I'm having trouble getting Brawl to work with my router. I tried the (lengthy) fix detailed at GameFAQs and other places, but all it did was bork my wireless completely and had me scrambling to get things back to the way they were. This really sucks. =(

I was downtown when that Tornado touched down, but I was a few blocks away from the major damage. I don't think ive ever been more scared in my entire life. Also, my best friend lives in Cabbagetown. His house was spared but holy crap there was craptons of damage. We spent sat. morning doing some "disaster tourism" walking up and down the streets of his neighborhood and taking pictures of some of it. There were bricks from the Stacks Lofts (the ones that collapsed) strewn about in the streets, hundereds of yards away. There was insulation EVERYWHERE, and of course downed powerlines and trees thrown through houses. Ive never seen anything like it in person, and doubtful that I will ever again. News trucks and media EVERYWHERE. A friend of mine got his picture snapped by an AP photographer and ABC news ran the photo on their site.

Well I found where all the LEGO SW: Complete Saga's for the 360 were hiding. The Gwinnett Costco has like 15 copies. I was up around Indian Creek for work today and figured I'd stop in since it's right there, and sure enough, they had a ton (and I confirmed they have the actual games that go with the empty boxes). Felt good to finally track one down.

Checked the adjacent CC (Earth Defense Force...not much else) and Target Supercenter (nothing worth mentioning).

Are there any other Costco deals that anyone knows about? They had a lot of copies of Mass Effect too (few of the other Costcos did) and it made me wonder when that would be clearanced out.

Just back from the Mall of Georgia Costco...

picked up the last Super Monkey Ball BB and Sega Bass fishing. $23.90 out the door.

They had about 5 of SSX blur, couple of the Winter Games, two Sponge Bob, and quite a few Avatar for the wii.

They had all of the 360 games mentioned but SW. All kinds of DS games, my kids don't have one so I didn't bother looking. Only PS3 game w/ rebate was Full Auto 2 (bunch of boxes, who knows how many actual) for $21.99 if I remember right after instant rebate.

That does suck. I haven't seen the GameFAQs thing, but do they talk about setting it up in the DMZ? That should basically allow all packets to the Wii with no interference from the router (nobody should want/be able to hack your Wii).
If anyone was wondering there is one copy of Jericho for PS3 left at the Target in buckhead ($12.xx) price
Which Buckhead target?

There were some at the Lindbergh area one.* Haven't been there this week since I sprained my Achilles tendon at Costco yesterday. Man this hurts. It's deceptive, no pain until I try and take a step. I can't get back to Costco today though that's for sure.

*Last week

I just assumed Buckhead Target meant the one below the Best Buy and Home Depot and the Lenox Target meant the one across from Circuit City which has the games on the third floor of the parking garage.

I may go to Costco on Thursday pick up some things still want me to look for Winter Sports :wii:

When you sprain something it's a sign that you're trying to carry out too many games. ;)

There were no Jerichos at the Target under Best Buy off Sidney Marcus last night (according to Target's site it's "Buckhead South") and there were none at the Lenox one ("Buckhead")tonight at 8:15 :( I figured that it would be the easiest one to score out of it, NGS, and Folklore and yet it's the only one I struck out on as I think it's gone at all Targets I look at. Maybe it'll clearance for 360 eventually.

Also, I still have one Ghost Squad left for trade and I saw one at the Target in Snellville in the cheap game rack. It scans out of system so it depends on your negotiating skills/luck on that one.
Has anyone been to any of the Play N Trades around Georgia?
How are they?
I went to the one in Suwanee, very nice layout but the games seemed to be marked very high. Had all the systems out where you could try out the games before you bought them. Didn't check on any trade in values.

What's their policy on games that don't scan anymore? Wouldn't mind picking up that game but don't want to waste a trip out there.
What's their policy on games that don't scan anymore? Wouldn't mind picking up that game but don't want to waste a trip out there.
If you mean Target in general, it varies from not selling it to you and pulling it from the floor to letting you name a price, but usually they ask how much it was on the shelf. If you get them to scan it with a hand scanner it may come up with a price, I think people reported it would scan 12.xx which is what some As Is stickered versions were marked like the one I have for trade. I haven't bought an OOS game at that Target, but most around here have been very lenient about it. They usually ask how much it was and I tell them what the hand scanner said (or what the 75% off price would be if it was still in the system). I have returned 2 items that were no longer in the system and they put them in the salvage bin and said it was being shipped back to the manufacturer.

Good find, Wolfkin. I really enjoyed that game.
For $10, I'd re-buy it just to give it another go.

The wife and I want to eventually start playing R.Band (360).
We'll also be getting G.H. Aerosmith this summer I'm sure.
I know that the G.H. axes work with R.Band but is it a 2-way street?
Does the R.Band guitar work with G.H. games!

Any knowledge on this matter would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Rockband guitars don't work with guitar hero 3.

On another note, does anyone know of any independent gaming retailers around Georgia?
Or any shops around georgia that sell import games?
I remember there used to be Swap USA a long time ago, but they closed.

Also here my friend code for Brawl:
4167-4296-7525
Pm me if you add me

Thanks

Haha, Swap USA. Oh man, there used to be one 10 years ago in the shopping center over in Lawrenceville next to the movie theatre right off of 316.
As far as imports, you could check the Crazy Game Trader stores in Kennesaw and Acworth, but you may not find a whole lot.
The Crazy Game Trader here in Kennesaw closed.

Forgot but we do now have a
Console Concepts Gaming Center
390 Barrett Parkway
Kennesaw Ga 30144
Just behind Applebees in front of town center Mall
678-354-0654

Iv been in couple times, never feel like looking around when I go in. But I did snag a used gamecube with a controller for 25.00 It was worth it to me since I always wanted one.
The Crazy Game Trader here in Kennesaw closed.
When was this? Damn, got some decent deals there on older stuff, including MvC2 for DC.

There used to be one in Sandy Springs. I remember it was the where I saw Fight Night R3 with Punch Out in it. Next to Chipolte on Roswell Rd. I remember being depressed because I was broke at their store closing. I think they moved the Subway from across the plaza to that space now. I really don't like to buy from Gamestop because it's basically a glorified pawn shop but pickins are slim.

Yeah I went into the Crazy Game Trader in K-saw once in the first half of last year.
Went back near the end of the year and they had closed down, never been to the Acworth location.

Sean: Thanks for the answer about G.H. / R.B. I was afraid that would be the answer.
Tecka: Thanks for the heads up about Console Concepts, I'll have to check it out.

That's where it was, and yes, it's a Subway now. I actually did not like that place at all. They were hella overpriced and their selection was usually poor when I went in there. They actually made GameStop look good by comparison.

Haha, Swap USA. Oh man, there used to be one 10 years ago in the shopping center over in Lawrenceville next to the movie theatre right off of 316.
There was one in Discover Mills. I went there a couple years ago looking for a fliptop lid for my PS2, but they referred me to another Swap USA in Sandy Springs I think. They said it was the only one that did imports. I never went since I called and it was way more expensive than getting it online. I haven't even paid attention to whether it's still open or not. I think internet accessibility to import games and hardware for lower prices has really made it a poor business venture for most B&Ms as independents have enough trouble as it is.

I was disappointed when I moved here and couldn't find any good stores for getting imports because back home in a much smaller area there was an independent store that had good used prices, bad new prices, and did lots of importing for decent prices. I got a lot of used and import PS1 and DC games there. Last time I was there looking for some imports they said they didn't do much importing now since not very many people get imports and they didn't make much money on it :(

There's a new independent game store in Lawrenceville at Sugarloaf and Five Forks called N2 Games. I just stopped by once and they had a decent amount of stuff, but I don't think there are any deals to be had there. Most games were way too expensive like the outfit for 40 used IIRC, but they have/can get rare stuff and imports I think, however, they know the value and will make you pay. I'd definitely like to know about any good import stores in the area if anybody knows of any.
When was this? Damn, got some decent deals there on older stuff, including MvC2 for DC.
It was there then they switched owners and got expensive (35.00 for 64 games)

It then switched back to the original owner about 4-5 months.

Then closed about few months ago.(when ever I noticed)

But trust me try Gaming Concept by town center mall, they are stuffed with games. but could be pricy I never looked at prices.

The changeover was rather odd, especially when they said they were partners (one owned one store, the other the other).

I'll have to check it out next time I'm there.

Almost found a home that we wanted to buy, but it came under contract before we could look at it. The cheaper home market in Cobb/Cherokee is cutthroat.

Around that time I was pretty heavy into buying my games at clearance prices so I probably never even looked at the prices.

I've been to the one in Suwanee and the one in Buford near the Mall of Georgia. I've built up a little credit at each one ($35 at Mall of Ga and $12 at Suwanee). Their "trade 3, get a bonus $5 deal" isn't bad for junk games. Certainly a lot better than what you can get at Gamestop. Although every time I've used that deal, I've had to tell the employees about it. I haven't bought anything from either of them yet, but from what I noticed the Buford location has better prices than the Suwanee location.

By the way, when I talked to owner/manager at the Suwanee location, he told me that he and the Mall of GA location were planning on sharing store credit in the future. That was over a month ago, so it may or may not be set up yet.
Haha, Swap USA. Oh man, there used to be one 10 years ago in the shopping center over in Lawrenceville next to the movie theatre right off of 316.
Yeah, I remember that place. The prices weren't all that great. But I did buy Metroid Prime for $5, Comix Zone for $1, and a 6-button Genesis controller for $3 when they closed. Other than that, I bought maybe three or four Dreamcast games from them, including MvC2 for $30.

Haven't forgotten about you Brawlers that added my code, I've just been really busy. I hope to add you all tonight.

Just went by the Pleasant Hill Fry's, and they had about 10 copies of Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 for the 360 for 39.99 left. Also a bunch of copies of Dark Kingdom for PS3 for 2.99 in the clearance bins at the front. Full Auto for 360 rang up as 14.99, not 3.54 (or whatever the poster in the deals thread said).

Looks like I'm making a return/rebuy when tomorrow since I'll be next door anyway.

Ah, that's more like the UGA basketball program I've come to know and love -- folding like a house of cards under the weight of our hopes and dreams...and bracket picks.

Glad I went with my head instead of my heart in my pool. Still pleased with making it to the dance, hopefully Felton can build on that (and find an offense :)) next year.

The Super Target right next to Stone Mountain Park on Rockbridge had 1 copy of Spiderman: Friend or Foe 360 for $14.xx and a few copies of Folklore PS3 for the same.

Didn't notice one, but I also wasn't looking for it. The Folklore was in a case and the Spiderman: FoF wasn't.

Ha! Score. Found another copy of Folklore at the Cobb Pkwy Target for 14.98. Have no idea where it came from, ive hit that target 3 times in the last 2 weeks and that's the first ive seen of it there.
