Okay so I'm not trying to sound elitist or anything, but... the guys playing in this stream are so bad it's ridiculous!

It's like watching a car wreck! I can't turn away.

Tiers matter sometimes, it depends on how balanced the game is. The fighters I know best are SF2 (especially Remix), Tekken 3, and Tekken 5. Even in Remix, which is an incredibly balanced game, the tiers stand out to me. I'm primarily a Blanka player, but Blanka kinda sucks in Remix.. so it takes a lot of effort for me to win against other strong characters. I'd say Blanka is my best guy even though I can probably win as many games with Honda. Honda is just super strong, and some of his setups are insanely good. I'm sure with other games that are even more unbalanced, tiers can be even more important. For example, hank and I played some SF3 today. The only characters I even had a shot with were Ken and Chun...

oh my goodness!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wT7zM8XgXQ

and yes, as of February 2009 Arcadia magazine, C.Viper is considered S+ Tier

February '09
S+: Sagat, Viper, Akuma, Zangief
S: Ryu, Boxer, Rufus, Blanka
A: Chun, Dictator, Ken, Dhalsim, Abel, Honda, Fuerte
B: Claw, Guile

the character list in the official guide can be thrown out the window, nobody has played as any of the new characters competitively so there's absolutely no basis to that ranking

That list was from Tougeki Damashi Vol 12. It was a listing BASED on tournament players opinions/rankings from the last National tournament.

There is a Tekken 6:BR tier listing in the same issue:

S: Steve
A: Lars, Lili, Lee, Law
B: Asuka, Armor King, Eddy, Ganryu, Xiaoyu, Julia, Jin, Devil Jin, Hwoarang, Feng Wei, Bryan, Bruce, Heihachi, Baek, Marduk, Roger Jr.
C: Anna, Alisa, Kazuya, King, Kuma/Panda, Christie, Jack-6, Dragunov, Nina, Paul, Bob, Lei, Leo, Wang
D: Zafina, Miguel, Yoshimitsu, Raven

It was strange seeing Fei so high up there. 'Gief and Akuma in godlike, though, make sense to me.

It's all above my skillz regardless. >_

Yeah I really can't see the tier lists being very solid with the game being so new.

I feel like playing some tekken 5 but I suck hard at it.

lol, well while we're at it...

BlazBlue
Tier A: Arakune, Rachel
B plus: Ragna, Taokaka, Litchi
B: Noel, Jin, Bang
C: Hakumen, Tagar, Carl
Unknown: Nyu (V 13)

Tatsunoko
S: (All) the Battle of Planets/Gatchaman Heroes, Ryu, Karas, Chun li
A+: Rock, Yattaman 1, Dronjo?
A: batsu, Morrigan, Jun, Tekkamen
B: Aoki (onimusha), Roll, Casshern
C: Alex, Polima
Prohibited: The two giants (Mech and Goldgiant)

Why are the giants prohibited?

Also, I like that lili moved up to A, but what the hell happened to miguel to drop him so far from 6?

Had a pretty nice night of ranked SF2HD
Went about 18-6, much better than I usually do lol
Finally got my 20 win achievement, now I'm working on that 100 win achievement :p

I have been playing the shit out of SF2HD lately as well and man, the crap players are nowhere to be found. I suck, but I have a certain ingrained level of skill that only comes with years of playing SF2 since the original release in the arcade (mediocre skill) and it seems like every match comes down to the last hit. as opposed to launch when every tom, dick, and Ryu was like "oh, Street Fighter, I remember that game I'm gonna go online and use the fireball!"

I love it.

oh, and it's also 'cause I made Fei Long my main and am abstaining from Shoto.

but damn, there are some nasty guiles out there. I try to play mind games to get them to use their charge, but it's hard to close the gap with Fei Long vs. Guile. The usual shit doesn't work quite as well. and some guy pulled off "Reversal Attack" after every single blocked hit with Zangief. Shit blew my mind...if anyone can explain how that happened, that'd be cool.

I don't see Dan being S, but he is not the worst...

Having fun with the game so far. Just trying to learn how to be as cheap as possible ;)

Wasn't steve's big problem in 6 that he could only launch off of a counter hit?

Did they give him a launch or bound move or something?

Damn, I'm asking alot of questions tonight haha.

In T6 Steve was fine. He still had launchers on normal hit as well...

In T6BR he has been beefed up, one notable + is the hitbox on his f,f+2. It is a LOT bigger and allows him to rack up damage from more situations (for example) after CH FLK 1,d+1, and it KNDs them, he can tack on a f,f+2 B! and it looks so wrong but it hits!

Add to the fact that he has all his other tools (b+1, DR speed sways/cancels), Steve didn't get nerf'd at all. While the other top tier chars got nerfed considerably.

+ he has a low that gives him free followups now too.

 gross!

Also, this has nothing to do with fighting games, but I thought it was hilarious
Ps3 fighters, sf4 tournament Saturday?
No go for me next weekend, I'll be in Los Angeles/Orange County with a friend of mine for a couple days.

Have fun everyone

P.S: I am annoyed that GS told me no SFIV until Wednesday.
fuck that. I'd guess most stores will have it on Tues.
Let's hope they do and I get a call Monday night :)

I want to at least a decent amount of play time with SFIV before I go to SoCal for a couple days.
fuck. THIS. SHIT.

That's OUR motto!!! It's fuckING war now, bitches!!!:twisted::twisted:

WELL.... In that case.... *Recalls Troops*:lol::lol:

I laughed so hard when I saw that. I knew that poster had FGT connections.:lol::lol:

It says in the ad that the game will be available in-store on 2-18

The chun-li figure is the same one given away at the Launch Party. Check jekki's pics :)

goddamn stop your whining

you're making a 6-4 matchup seem like cammy vs honda

repeated jab dps = punish the whiff. even noob chuns can throw me on a whiffed jab dp at close-mid range range

stop jumping, five bucks says that you're a predictable jumper

you can block jump ins. it's not hard. the only time a jump in is deadly is if they're going to tick throw or if they know how to ambiguously cross up or if they know how to safe jump. 95% of them don't know how to do the last two. and on tick throws chun has a small hit box so you should always win if he's going to throw.

just preordered sf4 said they were gettin it tuesday morning....so pumped!!! im gonna wax the FGTs perverbial ass!

edit : the aforementioned ass waxing does not mean ill actually wax you, sry

So anyone have tips on how a novice long-time SF fan can beat Akuma (on easy) in HD Remix? I tried to unlock him last night and spent 30 minutes against him not winning a single round. I got him to 5% health once, and he double perfect me twice.

My main is Ryu and I guess my alt would be Ken (yeah old-school newb here.) Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also would some of the regulars like to setup an official apprentinceship? It's just I live in an area with pretty much no arcades (St. Louis; Dave N Buster's only and they took out most of their fighting games) and I did not own an XBox, just PS2/Gamecube back then so no online play and I fell way behind the times.

I really enjoy fighting games and would like to learn the ways of the Force if you will so I don't feel like I'm banging my head against a wall when I play online (currently 3-18 in ranked on HDR for PS3.)

No need to unlock Akuma, simply hit up at E. Honda (multi-player) or I think Guile in single-player. Either way, he requires no unlock.

I could try to help you out when Street Fighter 4 comes out. I will not make you the next Evo legend, but I should be able to make you fairly competent at the game.

OK thanks. I thought I had to unlock him because I tried to play as him in multi once but when I hit up on Guile nothing happened.
Markman-- Big thanks to whoever came up with that SFIV pad. It saved me and my 360s love life.
I'm trying to find the SFIV pad that's right for me, but everything I think I've spotted one that I like, I find out she's already taken. Doesn't matter where I roll up to - I either find out that I'm too late or that I never had a chance of getting one in the first place. Maybe there's a site online where I can be matched with the one who will make me whole.

Thanks for the tips. I was incredibly frustrated at shotos last night. I must have played 20 rounds in a row of ken/ryu/akuma, and got beaten way too much.
... hmmm... anyone think FGT vs NeoGaf would be fun?
fuck yeah.. but I know some of you guys play on both teams. If you jump ship I'm putting ya'll on my ignore list.
