The main reason I'm getting my TE stick is because I really, really need a 360 stick, and it seems to be everything I could want in one. If I bought a regular one, I'd just mod it ASAP anyway, so I went straight for the TE stick. I do want a regular one still to make it all Seimitsu for shmups, but I don't have that kind of money to spend after the TE stick and SFIV.

I will dual mod it, but it's not a necessity. I already have my modded Namco that kicks ass and my big ass Happ custom that I use on PS2/PS3/GC/Xbox/DC/PC thanks to adapters. I could just leave my TE stick stock and be fine with it as a 360/PC only stick. But I'm not like that. ;)

$150 is pricey, but I'll use it a ton on my 360/PC, so I'll get my money's worth.
no disrespect, but the TE stick IS all hype, and me as a person who hates hype that really upsets me.

dont get me wrong, I think it's a fantastic product and got mine on pre-order, but most gamers consider the item as if it's a must have when at the end of the day they understand absolutely nothing about it. $150 is A LOT of money and I have no doubts kids will eventually let that $150 collect dust or immediately be like "ummm... what's so $150 about this?!?!"

like you pointed out earlier, the Play Magazine review on the standard stick is excellent. It comes off from the perfect perspective and with a perfect analysis of what a regular gamer should expect and want out of a product. It's a shame that gamers arent considering the product since gamers fail to think for themselves and let hype blind them all day.

seriously fukk gamers, I hate gamers. I still like games tho lol.
psh, you have no idea, kid.

how many allowances did you collect to buy your copy of SF2 for the snes? They didn't need to hype shit, all Capcom had to say was "we're releasing SFIV." The cooler-than-thou "anti-hype" guys who regurgitate what they read on shoryuken are just as annoying. Go back to Guilty Gear X2 Reload Antimatter Gravity Taco-tron.

HATE HATE HATE

you jus got dissed biatch whatchu gunna do 'bout it G.

nah jk, but you do have a point. Just look at all the people "disappointed" in the SFIV pad in the gaf thread after 10 minutes of using it. They don't know a good pad from a bad one, apparently. I like the pad so much that I'm re-thinking whether I should hold on to my TE stick preorder or ebay it.

The TE Stick is a luxury item, plain and simple. But, not everyone wants it because they're godly at fighting games or know all the intricacies that make a good stick.

Some people want it because it's Street Fighter IV... and they want the real arcade experience that most regions of the U.S. are sorely lacking. Some people want it because they collect anything and everything Street Fighter related. Some people want it because they like pretty boxes.

Most importantly, some people want it because they want to learn to play stick and won't settle for mediocre. As many people as there are that are buying into the hype, there are more people who want to buy the stick for any/all of the above reasons. And those are all very valid reasons.

A lot of gamers today are young professionals who have that cash to burn and always wanted to have an arcade stick when they were younger... or maybe they want to relive their experiences in the arcade. I wouldn't discount purchasers of the TE stick just because they don't know understand exactly what they're buying... they'll learn.

I bought into the TE because it's the best retail stick the 360 has to offer judging by the parts and feedback from people who have used it. The 360 is my fighting game system this generation so I want to have that one REALLY good stick that will last me for the rest of the 360's lifespan.

The Collector's Edition of SFIV comes with the "Brawlers" costume pack. Disappointing... :(
The Collector's Edition of SFIV comes with the "Brawlers" costume pack.:( Disappointing...
Wow. Really disappointing... but not surprising. It's probably going to be the least popular costume pack in the whole bunch, so no wonder they're giving it away for free... well there's that and the fact that it's the first DLC pack released, but I like my first theory better. :D

Also, I think the back of the box has a picture of Zangief as Haggar... so that was a hint there.

It's sorta interesting how people who know about fighting games and 2D stuff are using the fightpad and loving that shit, and a ton of other people are like "man, this thing is bullshit where the analog sticks son!?!?" Like, I knew it'd happen, but it kinda seems to be a clearer divide than I expected. Like people either love that thing or hate it.

As to why I'm getting the TE... probably the same reason as the other people here -- just wanna have the best. Obviously the stick's not going to make anyone better automatically, but it certainly doesn't hurt to have a stick with parts that you can trust to work consistently. Going back to the Tekken stick a few weeks ago was pretty bad, since I no longer had any real sense of direction with that stick, and the buttons felt ghetto. Obviously, that's something you can become accustomed to and you can play on the stick just fine, but why would you when there's something that much better out there that you know you're gonna get a lot of use out of?
damn that is makin me rethink my TE stick preorder :bomb:
i keep tellin myself i'll like SFIV and if im gonna get an arcade stick why not get the best one so that'll be only one i need
edit: that and i could probably resell it for more if i regret my purchase:whistle2:#
here's what I think,

if you are a gamer that wants to buy and play new Tekken, new King of Fighters, new BlazBlue etc, then yes the TE stick is an excellent INVESTMENT.

Street Fighter IV is bringing hella ppl back into the fighting game genre that are gonna exit as soon as they enter, leaving $200+ behind.

the key word is investment. Look at the future, not the moment.

hype doesn't upset me but the aftermath of what it happens, that does upset me.

i mean we got people who keep slamming on the EX2 as a piece of garbage but i will destroy most people with the EX2 at HD because they spend more time researching sanwa and seimitsu than learning how to block a crossup and then reversal SRK.

i don't care what you use it for. i don't care if bob smith bought one so he could play space invaders on his pc, that's his life.

but when you start telling people that their sticks suck when you're not even close to decent, you better believe i'll be there knocking down your door and challenging you and making you look silly.

I'm scrubby as hell now. I just like nicer things. I used to be beastly with an SNES pad and Ascii Fighting Stick. I could still use one if I needed to, but I prefer the nicer sticks.

Stock Namco sticks are so good. I would've had no problem leaving mine stock, but it was worn out so much. It needed an upgrade. I rocked the stock Green Goblin on DC so much that the stick started "sticking" because the spring was so worn. I've used a variety of sticks and pads, and I'll slum it up if I need to. But if given the choice, hell yeah I'm going for Sanwa/Seimitsu.

I really love my Sony Trinitron, but that's because I've used the old beater 19" wood panel TVs and RF up until 1995, then I started using a 13" Goldstar PC monitor from 1983 that I got from a garage sale for 20 bucks that had composite video, which was a huge step up from RF for me. Now I play in 720p, and I enjoy it so much more because I have perspective. I know what it's like to slum it up in the ghetto. Same with sticks and pads. Not saying the EX2 is anywhere near the "quality" of the Ascii Fighting Stick, the EX2 smokes it. But I am saying that I prefer nicer parts than the EX2 offers. If the EX2 is fine for anyone, then more power to you.

I think its battered wife syndrome. The 360 d-pad has beat their hands so consistently over the past 3 years that they're afraid to leave it. What the fuck else would explain it...a clearly better dpad comes out for the system that has needed it most of any system in history and they go "nah, i kinda have to press harder and oh yeah, no rumble."

Ah man... sticks pads... all that.

If you suck at games, you'll still suck.

If you're good, you'll still be good. The key is how well you adapt to said controller/controller type.

But man, I hate work today.

I just wanna go home.

We played MvC2 at an arcade in LA a few years ago. It was at a movie theater, and the machine was on free play, so we went to town. The sticks and buttons were very worn, but we still had a blast. I still could play it just like I can on new parts. As long as it's functional, I can use it.

I think every SF2 machine I've ever played on between the 5 versions of it had at least one button not working, usually fierce punch and usually on the 2P side.

I do damn well with the stock 360 controller, but its the uppercuts at key moments i end up missing which really screws up my game. Its why i stick to gief and balrog so often these days, they're super easy to win with without having to use the uppercut motion.

I'm confused, so now y'all are saying the TE stick is hype just because it's popular with more than the hardcore fighting crowd, or are we just saying that the TE stick is hype because it has the SFIV license?

All I know is, there'll always be haters and I ain't gonna sweat 'em by trying to "keep it real". I just buy what I want and play what I want.

The TE stick is hyped because of its quality. It won't make you a better player. That kind of hype. Like buying Air Jordans didn't make me able to dunk. I blame that on being white and 5 foot 8.

Ohhh...well, that goes without saying, doesn't it? I don't think there's anything wrong with a casual player wanting a TE. Granted, they could be doing it for the wrong reasons, but really, that's not my problem. For me, I'm willing to pay the premium for quality, if and when I can afford it, and to me the TE stick represents a quality joystick I can use for XBLA games, 360 shmups, and 360 fighters. There really aren't a lot of other options as far as quality arcade sticks for 360.

hey Markmang. Someone at GAF sez that someone at SRK sez that one of the Frys in Houston is selling SF4 as soon as they get it (today). Can someone double check which location it is?

Edit: Apparently its all 3.

I'm curious, does the TE stick feature backwards compatibility for the PS3? (or will it ever and is that feasible?)

It'd be cool to go back and play some PS2 fighters/shooters with it :D

That was already answered either in this or the stick thread, but the answer is no, unfortunately.

I haven't had any practice with a stick since I first played SFII in the arcade...and I was like, 6 then! No wireless controllers at EVO, so I'm gonna have to get a stick if I wanna play HD Remix or SF IV.
Sixaxis. >__>

I'm hella comfortable with it though since I've used pads all my lyfe.
DS3 here, but high five!

No Frys :(

No fry's here either.

Someone said LL will refund you if your shipping is cheaper than what you pay. Is that true? I don't see a bat top and gate costing 5 bucks to ship and that's all that's holding me back on my order.

EDIT:
What the fuck, since when am I in the FGT? I need to pay attention to my tabs.

That is true.

I ordered 6 Sanwa buttons in one order and put it through. Minutes later I forgot that I needed 8 and put a 2nd order through of only 2 buttons. They automatically combined my orders realizing it was going to the same place and refunded me for overpaid shipping.

Wow, that's really cool of them! I didn't figure it could cost more than like 3 bucks to ship that stuff, and that was holding me back. I'll order tonight!

Just a week away now! I can't wait. I'm picking up my copy right after school, taking my buddy to my house, beating his ass a few times, and then practicing away.

Is Viper a charge character?

EDIT: Nope. After looking at video's of her she seems stupid cool.

damn it sounds ilke i should just get a fightpad instead but that would mean letting my TE preorder go to waste and i might be able to resell it locally since im in the bay :whistle2:#

I'm getting the TE because there's no way I'm going to play SFIV on the 360 controller. I basically have 4 choices:

1. fightpad
2. RE fightstick
3. TE fightstick
4. EX2

If I feel like spending $150 for the best one, why the fuck not? I probably wouldn't have spent more than that though... speaking of the stick, what's this bullshit?

Why so late?

Also, GuardianE.. don't you live around Baltimore? What 7-11 sells video games?

I got the same delay from Amazon on my Fightpads. Both of them. Really annoying, since they didn't give me any sort of email or warning. I really hate pre-ordering from Amazon with Super Saver Shipping. It's really just no excuse. I should be getting my package later because of slow ass shipping by USPS, not because Amazon wants to punish me for not having Prime.

And I do live around Baltimore. I've never tried checking out 7-11s in the area, but I remember reading that they broke the street date for Gears 2 and a few other games. There's a good chance that if any 7-11's in the area sell games (the radio advertises that they do sometimes) and they're selling Street Fighter IV, that they could care less about the street date.

I used to see signs for Halo and Madden in the windows when I would go to 7-11 for my lunchbreak Slurpee and nachos.

Never noticed them selling any other games, though, even months after Madden 09.

Apologies to Hank and HeavyD, I traded my PS3 copy of SCIV towards my existing pre-order for SFIV (PS3).

I'll only owe about $13-14 bucks day of release, which makes me happy. Working two jobs is squeaking me by. If I have to trade in stuff I won't have the time to finish (don't care to keep) to pay for SFIV (which I'll play forever), I'll go do that.

All of the amazon orders are dated the 25th, because by some retarded happening the release date in their system says that, and they think they'll be punished if they ship it earlier.

Edit: How much did you get for SCIV? I was thinking about it, provided it isn't highway robbery.

I traded mine towards a new xbox. I'm blowing through MGS4 this week (I'm at the very start *shudders*) so I can trade it in for SF4.

So, is this how amazon does pre-orders? You think maybe I'll get it before the 25th?

Robbery. It's GS/EB of course! They extended their SFIV pre-order trade in, so you get another 20% if you put your trades to an SFIV reserve. Didn't have the time or patience to throw that shit on Ebay, or else I would've done that.

Enjoy MGS4 Puma!
