Cammy is a given. Others I use might be Viper, Ken, Chun-Li, Bison, Fei-Long, Abel & Sakura. I won't know for sure until I get my hands on it.

Also, this is post number 227 in this thread for me. LOL! How many do you guys have in here?

Ken 100%

Maybe with some Fei Long and Viper thrown in.

How do you check how many posts you have in a thread?

Edit: NVM! I have 150 posts here, seems kinda low don't it?

I plan on getting competitive in SFIV, although right now Im a beginner learning HD Remix with Chun-Li. I definitely am going to be checking out C. Viper (a little apprehensive though hearing that she is a more complex character and not newbie-friendly), Chun-Li - my HD Remix main

You know how some threads have little icons on the left? It's the next box over that looks like a piece of paper with an envelope. Put your cursor over it and it will pop up something saying 'you have X amount of posts in this thread'.

EDIT: OH! I forgot to post this. Guilty Gear: Accent Core Plus is coming to the U.S. on the Wii, PS2 & PSP. It wasn't even on the Wii to begin with and Aksys is porting it anyways.

EDIT 2: AND IT HAS A SOUNDTRACK CD PACKED IN!!! WIN, WIN, fuckING WIN!!!

Also two questions I have for CAGs

1) Anyone into the KOF series? SF IV is what is getting me into fighting games and Im curious about the series. I've seen reviews of older games and score are generally mediocre, although I wouldn't trust most reviewers to be good critics of the actual fighting system. Im asking because the new KOF game looks to have very high quality sprites with fluid movement but I don't know anything about the series and have always thought it was a shameless rip-off of Street Fighter.

2) How the fuck can anyone play Guilty Gear? That game looks ridiculously nuts. It is too advance and complicated for me. BlazBlue looks soooo pretty, but I'm afraid it is going to play like Guilty Gear and be overly complicated. Is it?

KOF is definitely not a Street Fighter knockoff, though it arguably started out as one. The new one that looks pretty is KOF XII. That's not out in the US yet. The other games in the series are ugly, but a couple of them are definitely worth your time. Honestly, I think the best option for getting started is by picking up KOF XI. It's an excellent game, it's fast paced and smooth, and it's like $10-15.

Guilty Gear is ridiculously nuts. The thing is, though, you don't need to understand how everything works eventually. Just play it like Street Fighter for a while, and you'll gradually pick up on the numerous intricacies of the game. It's awesome once you get it.

Thanks for the reply. I would definitely try KOF XI, but I don't have a stick for my PS2. Right now I'm using the Hori Ex 2 for my 360 and will be getting the SFIV TE stick for the 360. I'm thinking about getting a Cthulhu board for it in the future for PS3 gaming, but I dont know if that works with the PS2 and KOF XII has to be out by then.

As for the Guilty Gear, it is not that I am worried about GG. I don't see myself playing GG. I want to play BB when it drops in America and I fear I will be playing it like SF while everyone else is playing it like GG and utterly destroying me online.

1) KOF is great. It's all about doing big moves and combos, and picking the most unbalanced characters. You'll probably want to have Iori on your team in any KOF. Track down KOF '98 and play that, or wait for the KOF '98 UM for XBLA or PS2. PS2 version is coming March 3rd according to GS for $20 bucks. Or go track down KOF XI at Best Buy for 10 bucks. If you play XI, pick Oswald though.

2) GG is easy. Pick Sol, run in and press P LS HS HCB+LS, throw QCF+P, QCF+K (tap and hold K versions), QCB+K out a lot, and do a DP+LS or HS when they jump in. Mission Comprete. :)

Joking aside, if you are curious about KOF, start with either '98 or XI, since they will be the cheapest ones to get. '98 is a dream match game with a lot of characters in it. 2002 is also, but it's not as good as '98 IMO. XI is dirt cheap now, and it's really good. So just try them.

And GG is about as complicated as you want it to be. You can just learn some moves and combos and do really well, or try to master FRCs and the other intricate nuances of the game. I'm a pretty barebones GG player myself, and I play Sol and Venom mainly, though I do have a mean Dizzy.

Just give them a shot yourself. That's how I find out if a game is good. :)

Edit : Also what Chac said. ;)

Fei Long for me. I hear Viper uses a lot of mind games, so she may be in there too.

But who am I kidding, I haven't played the game and I've barely even watched videos. I really have no idea what to expect.

Funny faces, focus attacks, Neo-Geegus is the end boss, it's made by Capcom, and I've already spent about $400 on it with the game, 2 TE sticks, and a pad. These are the 5 things I know about SFIV.

Damnit. The price seems good, but I just don't have a stick to play on my PS2 since I have just gotten into fighting games because of SFIV. KOF coming to XBLA sounds interesting though. I'll have to research that.

As for Guilty Gear, I have played it once before when I knew nothing about rudimentary fighting game theory. I gather it is pretty aggressive as it has a meter that punishes over-defending. The cancelling thing is what dizzied me. The game has like 3-4 different methods of cancelling with varying bar consumptions. Methinks you guys are right when you say I shouldn't worry myself about these advance nuances of the game. Oh and I played with that Slayer dude. He looks like a fucking British playboy. Can't wait for BlazBlue. It looks soooo pretty on an HD display.

GAH! I was just coming to post this. I'm so fucking excited words cannot describe. Day fucking one bitches! Anyone else here actually slog through ALL the story paths (fuck you I-No, you crazy way too tough for your own good and if you beat me once I have to start this story path over bitch!). I actually enjoy the story, and can't wait for the conclusion (iirc). Prolly pick it up on both PSP and Wii or PS2 (prolly PS2).

I-No honestly turned me off of the story paths for all the Guilty Gears. After beating her a couple times on X2 and #Reload, I don't ever want to play her again.

hm, do you guys actually care about the story of your respective fighters? Like as I've found out more of the SF story, I can't help but think "Damn this isn't that great of a story". Of course I blame story continuity as the reason why we can't have SF3 characters in SF4 because SF4 comes first OR SF4 couldn't be placed after SF3 or we wouldn't have all the classic SF characters that were missing from SF3. My friend is big into SF and the story and being reminded that Akuma is strong enough to destroy mountains sours my view when I see Akuma being bitched by Sagat, Boxer, and Blanka. I really don't want story in my fightan.

Akuma willingly holds back his power so he doesn't wipe people out. He's honorable like that.

Also, I only care for story when I get bored on random days.

Streetfighter is more about the characters' personalities. GG actually has a decent story, if only because there's actually dialogue and a specific mode for story in the games.

Its quite fleshed out, albeit as confusing and nonsensical as reading a Robert Jordan novel on acid.

Here are ALL of the alt. costumes in the home version of SFIV, even the home exclusives. Cammy's isn't exactly her Killer Bee uniform, FYI. :(

As I understand it, if you agree to fight Akuma like a man, you agree to a deathmatch. Maybe Honda would be smart enough to decline a REAL fight with Akuma, but I do not see people like Sagat, Boxer, Dictator backing down from a real fight. Seeing Akuma playable and losing to these characters is ridiculous in my opinion. If he went all out they would easily be destroyed, yes. But even with him holding back, he has killing intent and he will not be defeat. He will let them land blows, but he WILL kill them. So seeing him going down to a Tiger knee pisses me off.

Let me make it clear that I prefer that characters be as balanced against each other as possible as it makes for a better game and I would certaintly not like to see Akuma being broken like I read he was in Super Turbo. But a part of me gets peeved that canon means nothing to the actual game and thus it shouldn't even be there.

Edit: @BlueSwim: Does that include the 5 bonus DLC alt. costumes that will be coming with the CE edition?

I think so. It's rumored that you will have your choice, like Busta said, but it hasn't been confirmed by Capcom yet though.

Here are some new videos that are easier to see the alt. costumes in.
Storywise, Shin Akuma is merely Akuma using the full extent of his power, compared to the "in-game" version which is Akuma voluntarily holding back his power to avoid ending fights prematurely.
Good enough for you?
Edit: @BlueSwim: Does that include the 5 bonus DLC alt. costumes that will be coming with the CE edition?
I was under the impression that C.E. lets us choose any five bonus costumes. Or has that been debunked?
Good enough for you?
Sure. I just need to keep in mind that when Akuma is KOed in a round it isn't like anyone else being KOed. It is just Akuma lieing down laughing to himself about how weak his opponent truly is.

Edit: @BustaUppa: What? I've never heard anyone speak of it being like this.

Choosing five is going to be tough. Ryu, Chun-Li, and Zangief are lock-ins but I dunno about the other two. Rose and Cammy look great, Dan is hilarious, and Balrog is Apollawesome.

As for playables, I'm sticking with Zangief, Balrog, and tossing in Dan for the lols.

I think for me it's going to be Ryu, Chun, Zang, Fei, and Dan. The two that I'll buy separately will be balrog and abel.
So who's everybody going to play as in SFIV? I'll be rocking Gen like I'm playing A3 again, Guile, and Abel.
Who I've playing as at SJSU for the past 3 months....Abel.

As for GGXX Accent Core Plus dropping, I'm excited. Hopefully it's cheap. fuck story paths. Buy the game for competition :)

I doubt I'll pick up GGXX Accent Core Plus. The last one I bought was Slash.

I got pretty sick of buying the same game over and over. (Yes, I know there are gameplay tweaks and balances / differences, but I don't play the game at a high enough level to make this worth it.)

nah, don't care. some people like...know the KOF story and the backstory of each character. That scares me.

I agree. I've always loved Tekken's story. It's insane in some places, but the characters are so interesting I like it.

I use to like Soul Calibur's as well, but it's way too convoluted now.
That's what Accent Core Plus is pretty much. The current release of AC with a story mode and maybe some new unlockable art.
I thought they did some gameplay tweaks/balances compared to AC. Also didn't they add boss characters back in as playable?
