GG jekki, your blank is awesome. Ive never seen anyone use the ultra that way (hitting the first hit then waiting to roll to connect), so now i know. Pretty sure you were using the TE stick since you hardly missed anything you wanted to hit with. Im still sporting the broken factory 360 d-pad but still lovin it. I kinda hate arcade sticks cause they're so clunky. And the 360 SF4 pad was junk, broke on me in a day. Oh well! Fei Long rules!

btw I posted in the xbox thread, but learn how to dash cancel after a succesful focus attack.

with Fei Long, if u woulda focus attack, dash cancel, ultra, then you woulda gotten the full ultra animation.

without the dash cancel, just doing focus then ultra, you only got like 3 weak hits and lost your meter.

to do dash cancel, hit toward, toward either after letting go of mp+mk, or in the case of level 3 soon as the strike animation comes out.

it's actually a buffer so once u enter the command, it will not come out until like a few frames later

-EDIT-

btw, Fei's Rekkas... omg they punish whiffs like crazy >_<

I got hit by like 1000 of them for doing stupid shyt lol

I will practice the canceling right now, would be awesome to get the full ultra with the focus attack! And i hate how ryu can punish with EX Fireball after a low middle kick so damn often, i got pretty frustrated when i kept getting hit by that lol.

My tournament edition came today from amazon, no scratches and good condition. But the RB and RT button not working after one hour of gameplay. Arrgggh waited so long for this stick to come too
.

Jekki, i can do the dash cancel into full ultra 9 out of 10 times in training now. However, i went online and tried to get it working in a match and couldnt get it going lol, in the heat of battle its not always for sure. Going to keep practicing tho. I keep getting randomly disconnected off of live tonight, really weird, happened like 3 times with matches against different people. And not disconnected from the match itself, but from Xbox Live completely.
For some reason you come off as a fighting game legend. First name that comes to mind is Daigo ... just how good are you?
He fucked me up real good whenever we had Tekken nights last year. Man I can't wait for BR, shits gonna be hype!

DR was shit online though, and I know if I played him in person it would have been even more humbling.

I'm sure sakura is fine to use I just think she sucks against Seth.. She has no range on her normals. From a chun player that's annoying.

I never want to use sakura again after yesterday.

Alright, so I realize this a noob question but I need some help.

I just CANNOT do any Ultra moves in SFIV. I have tried and tried but I can't seem to get it down, even in practice mode. What exactly do I need to do, for example, with Abel?

I looked at his command list, and it shows two quarter forward moves and then all three punch buttons. But what should be the timing on all that?

If you are using the controller, after the 2 quarter circles, hit the left shoulder button. That button was mapped to have the LP,MP,and HP pressed together.

Not sure what the button is on a stick, but you can map it to whicherever button you want.
I suck at Street Fighter and I'm not that good at Tekken... but good enough to beat everyone here ;)

!
If I can play Jin in Tekken 6 the same way I played him in Tekken 5.. I bet I could put up a good challenge.

Ah ok, I am gonna try that out now.

s.hk
c.mk

also i think her FA is one of the best, it has REALLY good range and hops over lows

i've won entire matches with s.hk and c.hp alone

btw i'm getting really annoyed with the inputs in sf4, retarded stuff seems to come out like dp+k instead of qcb+k, qcbx2+k instead of qcb+k, i seriously don't get it

got my TE yesterday as well. good feel, good weight. buttons too close for my liking since i'm used the HRAP but i'll get used to it. only gripe is that it feels sticky / glossy for whatever reason. but damn it was cool to get it in that nice looking box.

then i used my cast iron skillet to make me seared tuna. i love getting stuff delivered when you order it online. it makes your trip home that much more worth it.
I was having the same sort of issue. It's like they tried to make the controls too accessible, so now the game fills in the inputs you intentionally skipped... I noticed that I was deliberately standing still before entering a command a couple times, just because going straight into a move after having forward held can fuck it up. Hopefully they'll patch that.
Whoa! Don't use any attacks that let you get that close to him, my ken got raped that way.
Are you sure it wasn't what Ken was wearing? Some colors of uniform are just asking for it...;)

I've had this issue with pulling off Bison's ultra. Read up on Shoryuken that others have the same problem where he teleports instead and mentioned to do the motions slower. I did that and now it comes out more often but still having to slow down the motions for just that part tends to throw off my timing.

it's hella easy for me to do since I use Blanka, becoz having to focus attack -> dash cancel into a charge move is a whole new layer of preparation and execution as opposed to like a semi-circular motion

If I could use 5.0 anyone, I can kill you with ease. :)

Man....is it just me, or does SFIV have some major hit-detection issues? Cammy's crouching light kick won't register a hit unless the heel of the boot(not the foot itself) makes contact.

I CAN HAZ PATCH?....and a Seth re-balancing? Jeez, he's cheap.

I really haven't enjoyed SFIV as much as I thought I would. Too many issues like the ones I mentioned.

Also....HI, FGT!:D

Yeah, I think I'm about to give up on SFIV
Chun-Li got totally gimped, Seth is cheap as fuck, and online is full of ryu/kens

I have to say, I've had a lot more fun with SF2HD than I have had with SFIV...

All the complaints about Seth, I guess nobody has ever played a SNK fighting game. SNK Boss Syndrome anyone?

Also when have legit FG fans given up on a game because the Single Player isn't great?

Built for competition son.

I was just about to post this exact same thing.

Does anyone really get a sense of accomplishment out of beating the single player mode in any fighting game anyway? I'd rather he be an overpowered mess than a pushover anyday. At least as an overpowered mess that bright orange flash after Ultra K.O.ing feels immensely more satisfying.

I still don't understand why everyone thinks Seth is so hard? The only character that took a few tries for me to beat him was Dhalsim and that was on Hardest. You can pretty much bait Seth in making huge mistakes the entire second round.

I've beaten SNK bosses before, but they were neither entertaining nor fun to play against. I don't feel like I'm fighting a powerful opponent when I fight some SNK bosses or Seth, I feel like I'm suffering through someone's sick idea of what a "tough" boss should be. I think M. Bison in SFII was about the best example of a good end-boss as any. He was both tough and balanced, not overpowered. Fighting games are about balance, after all.;););)

Single-players like fighting games too. Hell, I'm living proof of that. If you're going to charge $60 for your game, you better have something good for everyone. Built for competition? Yes. Fun only when fighting someone else? Absolutely not. Virtua Fighter 5 did it perfectly. Getting 100% completion(1000/1000 Gamerscore) in VF5's Quest mode felt incredible to me.

Quest Mode > All other 1P fighting game modes

seth is easy, i dunno what you guys are talking about. way easier than snk bosses.

i still fire up cvs2 now and then and that AI is cheap as hell. we're talking about AI that says "if player presses a button, then do 50% damage, invincible genocide cutter."

seth is more like, don't jump, don't stand next to him, and don't freak out when he teleports

btw, i heard vega was low tier but i keep losing to sf2 style hyobal (wall dive spam.) what's the quick solution to stop this, i'm too lazy to watch videos

Quest Mode > All:bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:

I mean, I agree about the single player experience thing. Quest Mode is great... but Arcade Mode is not Quest Mode. A capable single player mode can be integrated into the game, but Arcade mode is generally not it.

And I must admit, I do love SNK bosses. Rising up against overwhelming odds and a godly character really does something for me. Bison wasn't a good boss in SF2T. He was easy. Way too easy. In Alpha, they at least gave him SUPER OMEGA INSANE PSYCHO CRUSHER with no startup time and full screen damage. And this sense of accomplishment really helps if the boss is cool.

That said, I don't think Seth looks cool. I think he looks goofy. So he kinda fails on that level.

I understand some of the complaints on Seth. He can be cheesy, but there's definitely a workable pattern with him.

Speaking of "difficulty", I dunno if anyone noticed this, but once in a while, the AI will be incredibly aggressive, even on the easiest setting. Like one I time played through arcade with a weaker character against Abel I forget which one, and he just whirlkicked and threw the shit out of me, no matter what I did. So I just restarted instead of continuing and then the difficulty suddenly ramped back down and I beat everyone no problem. Weird.

Anyway, I unlocked Akuma, so just need to do Seth and Gouken.

I remember reading that there was some bug where the difficulty ramps up if you get interrupted or challenged during a fight under certain conditions. I don't know if that's accurate, and I think I just read it on a messageboard, so it's probably total crock.

Oh God, I remember that thing. Wasn't it like a 16-hit combo?:lol::lol:

I haven't progressed beyond the sucking stage yet though.

Oh and this isn't a complaint about SFIV in particular, but I hate how they change Chun Li's special move commands in like every game!

Even after working it out he is still a pain. Chances are If you mess up even once he'll smack you around for a good 15-10 second before you can recover.

Seth is easy when compared to Shin Akuma, damn did he give me a hard ass time. Once I went through like 15 continues and gave up

lmao
"Is he close?"
"no"

The only thing I've noticed so far is that Bison's Skull diver won't connect half the time even though his fist is passing right through the other character, it's kinda annoying, thinking it'll connect but doesn't. It usually works with devil reverse, but after a head stomp that's where the problem for me is.

kainzero, I was having success against Claw's wall dive by just jumping back and attacking. The dive crosses up pretty hardcore in this one, so it can be a pain. Also, you can simply walk forward in a lot of instances (especially when the do the roundhouse version). It takes some getting used to, but fortunately my boy plays Claw so I got like 20 matches of practice against it this weekend.

also, to blueswim: versus mode > quest mode

when did fighters stop putting in team battle?

Top is 360 and bottom is PS3.
