At least it was ranked ahead of MK and KI. :p

That SF shirt is lulz.
That's like winning a bronze in the special olympics. /Obama

That SF shirt is definitely lulz.
I just picked up my copy of Samurai Shodown Anthology for the PSP!
Did you get it at GS? I wanna pick up the PS2 version like right now. Been working 7 days strait, haven't had a chance to check.

Didn't GT already have a Top 10 fighting games video? Anyways it was a solid list. I would've moved Tekken up, at least in the top 5. I'd like them to make a top 10 obscure fighting game list. Because everytime someone makes one of these we can all expect whats on it.

Awesome vid Rolento. LOL @ DOA not even being in it. Tekken seemed to score a bit low, Guilty Gear and Samolia Showdown a bit high... Also, thanks for the link JEKKI, in for 1. :D
Im down for some SFIV if anyone wants to sc00l me. Look i spelt skool with two 0s.
PS3? If so, I'm down, I've got nothin' to do right now.

Of course PS3.

You know why they call it 360? Cuase when you see it you turn 360 degrees and walk away!

If you guys want to play i'll catch ya in a half hour or so distgfx

Actually, after doing a 360 you'd still be facing it. ;)

does no one share my anti-zangief sentiments?!

you can turn 360 degrees and then walk through it, and then continue to walk in that direction which would be walking away from it. yeah!

Screw the anti-zangief sentiment.

(I get enough of that at work. :bomb: )
I'm fine with that ranking. Glad Dead or Alive isn't in there...
Quiet, you!
:lol::lol: DOA: Ultimate should have gotten some love.
I'm fine with that ranking. Glad Dead or Alive isn't in there...
My friends and I used to joke that SF: 3rd Strike is to Chess, as DoA is to Hungry Hungry Hippos.

DoA is definitely eye candy, though. :bouncy:

ggs dist n' gigan

all i know is bison, if I use Ryu I gotta switch to my dpad b/c I suck with any character like that with my square gate :(

And gigan, am i the only one you get laggy games with? Cuz you're the only one I get that with
ggs dist n' gigan

Ah, I see, you have a good Bison though. I've been trying to learn a little bit more about each character lately. Seems to be working little by little, starting to remember everyone's specials.

EDIT: No wonder you pulled off Ryu's moves so easily, I'm still practicing that with my stick. I still fuck up.

Haha, it's a bit of a two edge sword though. I can do the moves easier but I can't go for some combos as easily (i.e. DP>FADC>Ultra), plus it just feels weird jumping back and forth between a stick and dpad.

My main problem is incorporating FA's into my game properly and quickly enough, among executing combos consistently. I was ok playing you but I was playing like ass against gigan :/

I've just been watching all the Bison match vids on youtube and posted on SRK to get an idea of what works and how to play him.

I'm not used to winning againt any FGT regulars. Or anyone else to be honest :p.

And you have the Bison challege title but I beat your Bison.

So? Just means I did the challenges, nothing more. I still had fun and I don't hold back against anyone. If you thought I was going easy on you I may of been a little sloppy because I was pissed (being bothered constantly) but that's about it. You put up a good fight and it was fun fighting against many different characters.
You've put way more effort into playing Bison than I have. Definitely shows too :applause:
Thanks, so you main Bison also or someone else?

It's something I do because I have no job right now, so I have time to just browse around and learn, but today was the first time in a while I've actually touched the game (had KZ2 for a bit :p)

Matchups I seem to have a hard time with are Balrog, Blanka and Chun li. Balrog's range always gives me a headache and Chun just is an all around PITA. Blanka is somewhat of a challenge, but I find it more difficult to deal with him when he's got an ultra stocked. That damn thing does a lot of damage, connected or chipped.

Well, I've been switching around for a while. It was Cammy for a while, then Guile, now Bison and I've been dabbling a bit with Dan and Vega. I get bored with using a certain character after a while, so I switch a lot.

Cammy is fun to use :D

I decided to use Ryu despite telling myself I would never use a projectile character because he's easy to work with, but he's sort of a stand in til' I can get the hang of Viper, which is why I lost so badly with her

I'm tempted to learn El Fuerte too, that guy is crazy.

I can't honestly remember the times I beat you except for our first fight with Cammy Vs Bison. Viper's definitely fun to play as, but damn, I think she's out of my league.

Oh well, thanks to you and Jest I learned a bit more tonight. You both fought great. :applause:

GG's to Smallwind. Rufus Triangle Jump/Lockdown is mad annoying. Magfuckin'neto

I'll probably only be playing FGT folk until Friday and some SRK folk. Gotta make sure once again that my Abel/Seth don't go backwards before the 4v4 match I have Friday.

I have a lot of fun using Viper, but don't use her that often because she is so technical. I have a really hard time pulling stuff off (and I don't even know most of the combos) but she is the most rewarding when it comes to payoff.

I've been focusing on Cammy, Rose, and Sakura as you could probably tell. I want to learn some of Chuns moves too. Hoes before bros?

SF4 ZANGIEF SUCKS

SF2 ZANGIEF IS REAL MAN TERRITORY

GGs AxC adnd gigan. I'll get my revenge in Blazblue against you 2. :D

I do not doubt that at all.

Funny thing about Blazblue when I played it over at SJSU and SVGL, is that I had no idea what I was doing. I am pretty familiar with the GG series but when I played Blazblue with my friends I kept saying "What the hell am I doing?" :)

BB is way different than GG, sorta (haah!)

GGs suko, I played like ass today. Couldn't hold it together during any close games -_-

GG's. Don't worry, I'm playing crappy too since I'm rather tired and just came back from an exam. Let's just both pretend tonight never happened. Also, the input lag thanks to PSN doesn't help...hope it's just a short problem.

yeah sorry about the lag spike it was probably my router going nuts cause theres like 3 others using the internet too...

man i got beat up with ur abel vs rog.... no clue how to handle that much cause i got crossed up since im a huge turtle with rog..

too much abel pressure!!

i need to somehow attack as much as i do with blanka with rog...

Fight me again when you can, I'll probably be easy to go offensive on. I'll choose random so you get a feel for it. :D Baby steps and what not.
since there's no college this friday, if anyone is down for fighting, I'd love to if I don't end up being too busy setting up a gallery for saturday >_

I haven't had time to work on it, but if I do have time on Friday I'll be messing with my connection all day.

time for sleep... been running since 6am on 2 hours of "sleep" >_< nite

Headbutts should work pretty well when he tries to cross up on wake up, if they don't hit you'll at least be a decent distance away with a small recovery window.

Spam jabs!

Anybody who mains Abel, does anyone have any tips for playing better as him? Just small tips, I know about most of his move's properties. Not all of them, but most. So anything you throw at me is useful. Just small ones like, for example, Abel's Ultra is able to go through projectiles or any type. A comment that small would be appreciated! :D;)

Sorry Z3R0. I've been doing cammy's hard challenge trials when you messaged me. I'm at the final stage.

Some of the basics, which apply to all FG games:

-Know your match-ups. All of them. For Abel make sure you know which match-ups you have an advantage in and which ones you have an uphill battle in. Being able to read your opponent and know what he/she is capable of is something you should know as well. For Abel, if I know that a player is going to randomly Shoryu every time I try a Cross-Up, I'll stop doing that for a while and try for other ways to get in. If I find that they are susceptible to Cross-Up's, I'll bring on the pressure (which Abel has many tools) and use it a bunch. Know what other characters common move-set (normal and special) you can easily punish. (Ex. Free Rekka on blocked/whiffed Honda Headbutt) (non EX)

-You have to balance being patient and knowing when to pressure. Though I don't use it as much as I used to being able to F/MK Dash Cancel is key to getting a lot of Abel's mix-ups going. Also it is important to mention that standard throw and command throw, are key to get knockdowns. As anyone I have played here knows, as an Abel player once I get a knockdown, the fun begins. Why? Once you score a knockdown, Abel has many tools to punish and opponent waking up. Since he has so many tools, it is smart/key to keep things varied, not to just be fancy but to keep your opponent guessing. If you have it engraved in your opponents head that X of many things will happen to them on wake-up, they'll have to play the guessing game to what they have to react to.

Will you EX Command Throw on their wake-up? Standard/EX Wheel Kick, Roll mix-up? Will you cross them up? Wait for them to spam so you can BnB them? The tools are at your disposal and it is key to get know a lot of ways Abel can punish this way. His mix-ups are fun once you know them and it's a fair amount of patience to know when to use them fully and when to pull them back so you don't make stupid mistakes/lose leads.

-Don't roll too much if your opponent knows how to punish it. As HeavyD mentioned, players can either mash jab, which works some of the time, or as a good friend of mine does....a well timed standard throw can stop Abel in his tracks. The timing is very strict but a player who is familiar with the match-up can take away one of your strongest tools in Abel's mix-up game.

-Know what EX Armor can do for you. Obviously you want to know what EX Armor on Rekka can do for you. Sometimes I'll use it as an easy hit into mix-up, if I know the character being played cannot punish easily (Ken FDP breaks armor and makes you pay). It's also one of the tools as I mentioned earlier for mix-ups. There are also times a well timed EX Rekka can absorb and attempted jump in. This way you have a second or so after you absorb the hit to get the hell out of there and start your strategy again. If you're thinking what a waste for a bar of meter, remember that Abel easily gains meter by rolling, so burning a single bar to get out of a jump-in that could potentially lead to more, is an easy sacrifice.

-Obviously learn all if not most of his BnB's and learn his most common Ultra setups. Being able to cleanly land his Ultra has gotten me out of a lot of hairy situations. As I mentioned a couple pages ago after my match with HeavyD, even if the Ultra doesn't kill your opponent it gives you a free knockdown in which to start more mix-ups.

I'm still learning myself distgfx (and I don't think I've played you yet), those are some of the pointers I can give. I don't want to give out to much on how I play (though that was a LOT) :)
