Hey guys, I just ordered my first newish fighting game last night (last was Tekken 5 for PS2), and I'm a bit curious how online multiplayer works. I assume, like all other console online games, that one of the players acts as the host? Unlike games with 8+ players, wouldn't this give a hugely unfair advantage to that player? Or do fighting games work a lot different than, say, shooters? From what I hear, most fighters run pretty damn smooth online, so I guess I'm just wondering...how?
no one really knows.
but everyone thinks you can drop GGPO netcode into any game and it'll be like NO LAG OMG.
actually i don't think there's a host, host advantage would be too good and we'd be able to detect it. i think it's more of a p2p thing.
