Looks better than the real Zelda games.
my thoughts as well... sadly.

that reminds me, what games got boring or horrible once they jumped to 3d?

Mortal Kombat comes to mind... Zelda wasn't horrible when it made the jump but it bores the hell outa me.

I'm debating on starting Ar tonelico 2 today. If not I'll just watch Paprika or Dark Knight.
Konjak is god. BUY NOITU LOVE 2! (it's not a hentai game despite the title)
Speaking of hentai I picked some up the other day...
yeah, I know it's a rarity but I really would rather play a shitty game than watch a great movie.

I think it's largely because I always have to keep my hands busy, thus movies bore me very easily unless I'm doing something with my hands while watching them.
Yeah, I'm exactly the opposite. A lot of times I'm pretty burned out on evenings and weekends and would rather lounge on the couch and just watch a movie than do something interactive that requires more attention and thought.

So I tend to game more when I have easy weeks of work, and watch movies more when I'm swamped.
Excuse my ignorance, whats Paprika ?
It's about a psycopath that steals a "dream machine" and can force people who are awake into his f/ed up dream. And from what I'm able to gather so far, Paprika is the only person that can freely go into the dream to investigate without getting stuck in it.
So, any thoughts on the RE5 demo? I'm dling it right now but I won't be able to play until my daughter is done watching Dragontales.
Didn't like it. I'm in the minority though, I think.
Milk was great. This weekend I caught, Milk, Gran Torino and Slumdog Millionaire, all were excellent. Plan on catching Frost/Nixon sometime this week, and hopefully Benjamin Button this weekend.
Yeah, I'm seeing Slumdog today. Benjamin Button was terrific, hope you enjoy it! I'm hoping to see Frost/Nixon, The Reader and Revolutionary Road this week :)

Hooray Exam Break! Off all week :D

Just went back to Just Cause. I forgot how fun and brainless the game is. I like how the game actually rewards you with safe houses and vehicles the more you do takeover and side missions.
One of the best PC games ever is finally being ported to the DS.
Sweet! I had read this and thought Jagged Alliance but never actually expected that to be right. Now here's a series which never got enough credit. I wonder how much they will tweak it to update it for the times and graphics, the first JA is in need of a facelift.

This may get me to bust out JA2 again so I can watch the Queen freak out when I send her some black roses again.

From everything I've been able to find out, it appears to be almost a straight port of the original. Which yes, could use a facelift. But I have to be honest, I love the JA series for being exactly what it was; old school tactical with whiney, laughable mercs.

Gad, I miss the days of JA, JA Deadly Games and when 2 was coming out. Sir-Tech (RIP) may forever be one of my favorite gaming companies. Their programmers would actually participate on their boards and discuss what they were working on, and listen to suggestions and fans' wishes. No, they couldn't and didn't implement all the wants, but they were the most realistically fan-interactive than any company I can ever recall.

Still have one or two friends from ST that have since moved on to other projects. But Jagged Alliance and Sir Tech will always have a special place in my silly gamers' heart.

Nice on the queen, Kefka. Personally, my favorite moment was when um.. I forget which merc it was says, "holy cow, it's Mike!!" That cracked me up. Gad, Mike was a freaking rip off... "another day another dollar. Or another 10,000 in my case." Dang, I'd take Ivan any day over Mike.
Yeah I think I'll trade in CoD4 and No More Heroes for WaW
That's like paying money to make your life more miserable. Actually... that's exactly what you'd be doing.

LOL. I don't have a Wii right now so NMH is just sitting on my shelf collecting dust, in the plastic. I'll probably never play it.

I can always borrow CoD4... I have a friend who doesn't even keep his PS3 hooked up, so if he has a game that I want to play I just borrow it. Its basically free games or free money when I trade in games after he buys them
random comment: dallow_bg, you gave the answer I would've given if I had access to GAF in regards to the COD6 wishlist.
I hate it so much!!! :bomb:
Both dev teams (treyarch and infinity ward) need to program some AI.

Honestly, I'd rather have a good game sitting on the shelf unplayed for a while than a bad game that I could play if I hated myself enough.

Speaking of COD 4, just shipped that out on Goozex for 900 points ($45 equivalent) today. Love that site, pretty much never have to pay for games anymore as long as I'm willing to wait a while for new releases as I keep 7-8,000 points built up.

Also just got Fable II from Goozex in the mail today--will be a while before I get to it though. Need to get through The World Ends With You and The Shivering Isles first.

I'm still mixed on TWENY, need to play it some more but the characters are still annoying me and there's way too much silly dialog to read/skip through. Battle system is growing on me, but it's still too convoluted.

I'll give it a few more hours and see if it grows on me. Anyone know how long a game it is?

World at War isn't a bad game. it's just sickeningly mainstream and "good, but not GOOD".

I really can't think of anything to complain about it that isn't just "This has been done before"

The zombie mode, the multiplayer, and the competitive co-op are all pretty good. I'm keeping my copy for the time being. I also still keep Call of Duty 4 because I prefer the multiplayer on there though.

I really like the idea of TWEWY but those fucking characters, and that fucking dialog, and that fucking music.

Shit is TERRIBLE. The actual game, though. That's good.

Yeah, the music is god awful too. The gameplay is decent if I can get used to the controls and battling on the top and bottom screen simultaneously. But the characters, dialog and music are awful.
I love goozex too. :) I don't love being 263rd in line for Fallout 3. :whistle2:(
I'm 73rd for that one. :D I don't mind waiting for new games. I'm always behind anyway so it just gives me time to finish up other games vs. buying everything at launch. Cheaper and I never have much of a back log on the shelf--just a list of games I want to pick up and play if I have time.

Does anyone remember having these at their arcade as a kid? I never played it, but we had one and I thought it looked so cool with the little holographic characters. It's probably just a dragons lair ripoff.

Funny that with Squaresoft's games now we're "putting up with" the elements that used to make them awesome.

I can't wait for Dragon Quest 5 though. DQ4 made me a fan of the series. But only in the remake form. I don't want to touch the old NES versions.
Give me Simpsons over Time Traveler any day of the week.

It was a Dragon's Lair/Space Ace style game. With nothing to it.
I remember being able to get past the first 5 seconds of Dragon's Lair. Not so with Time Traveller

The simpsons and Xmen-- the games that XBLA forgot.

More like the games licensing won't allow.

I was really shocked Simpsons didn't show up on XBLA when the movie came out.

I wouldn't be surprised if Konami approached EA and EA wasn't interested in drawing attention away from their kinda-shitty next gen game.
So, any thoughts on the RE5 demo? I'm dling it right now but I won't be able to play until my daughter is done watching Dragontales.
The import demo? I'm tempted to try it, but I don't wanna spoilerize anything. It's a must buy for me regardless. :p
One of the best PC games ever is finally being ported to the DS.
Ooo. Still, that's a pretty old game. I dunno if it'll hold up for me as a straight port.
Yeah I think I'll trade in CoD4 and No More Heroes for WaW
Why would you want to trade down?

If it was just NMH for WaW, then it might be okay. >_
Who has the X-Men license now? I would love to see the classic arcade game out now.
I believe Activision has it. I dunno for how many games/how long though.

The only X-men related game on the horizon (that I'm aware of) is the one based off the upcoming Wolverine movie.
I believe there is a sequel to Ultimate Alliance coming too.
Yes, I guess that's X-Men related too.

I wish Vicarious Visions would hire some better character modelers or 3D artists, though. I love the games, but the avatars look so blobby and weird.

Or at least commit to the HD platforms instead of trying to optimize everything for the lowest-end systems? :p

I'm with you about Goozex, dmaul. I've only bought 2 games in the last three or four months because I can get everything on Goozex. It's even great for the rare games. I've picked up Rez and PowerStone 2 there after a couple month's wait.
I hate it so much!!! :bomb:

Overall it was no HUGE thing because multiplayer is the focus of CoD, for me anyway, but it would make the single player significantly better. Plus, I know its getting knit picky, but I also hate how its very obvious in CoD4 (and definitely in Resistance 2) that you hit spawn triggers. Its just very jarring and not natural or organic feeling in those two games.

I believe Gears 2 was the only game I bought in all of 2008--everything else was from Goozex.

It's great if you don't mind waiting for most games. Other sites like the trading forum here or Gametz are better if you want new games faster. But I don't have the time/patience to deal with all the making offers, communication etc. required for that. It's nice to just list and request games and get matched up whenever. And the values are generally great, you can't beat getting $45 equivalent for something like CoD4 over a year after launch.

Agree, the spawn triggers really kill the single player modes. Just make some smarter enemies and have a fixed number of them in all places ala Halo, Gears of War and most shooters.

GameTZ is pretty good also. I picked LittleBigPlanet and Metal Gear Solid 4 up there. You just have to understand the difference in negotiating styles between the sites. With GameTZ, you can just literally throw as much shit against the wall and see what sticks. Then again, the best deals are the ones that come out of left field.

I imagine you can get to day 5 within a few hours. If it doesnt start clicking by then, I dont think its going to. Maybe through the end of day 7 just to be sure.

The only thing I didnt like about it is Nomura's "belts and zippers" school of character design. God I hate that guy.

Time Traveler always gave me a headache. Game sucked anyway. Konami's Simpsons and Xmen games were sweet though, expecially 6 player Xmen with the 2 screens. It was madness, though somebody had to be Dazzler if you played 6 people. :)

Ultimate Alliance was mildly amusing, but the gameplay in it was pretty lackluster.

Yeah. I just love Goozex since it's automated. I don't have time/patience for the negotiating and communicating. Not worth it since I just pick up around 5-10 games a year these days.
