Of the new releases I've played this year, this is one of the better. Force Unleashed, SR2, UT3, and maybe one or two other titles. Yeah. A sad year indeed

Meh. I'm going to throw Saints Row on my tradelist. Any of you guys want first dibs?
How much and I dun has a TL anymore.

Crisis averted! Power came back. Now I can Fable Dos.

I just haven't bothered to buy one. All I play on PS3 online is SCIV and T5DR.

When I play VF5 360 online, nobody talks, even though most people with 360s probably have a headset.

In GoW, everybody talks. :)

Played 2 deathmatch games in R2 so far, and the controls/shooting are definitely more solid than they were in the first game. Makes me even more excited for the game to be released.
DMC4 bosses as Dante are a fucking joke.
Yeah, but those Flying Spirits as Dante are a fucking BITCH!
Okay. I've got 2 missions left in Saints Row. I can safely say that this is a game I'm not going to hold on to. The biggest turn off for me right now is that I need to fill my respect meter to tackle the last few missions. I've wiped out all the gangs and am working on taking out Ultor. Either way, this is stupid tedious now. But aside from that, and some minor frustration making me lower the difficulty level, this is one of the best games I've played this year. Excellent story, fun gameplay, and good humor. I'd say pick this one up at the $30> price tag.
So you're on the Ultor Missions then?

By the time I was doing the last of the Brotherhood missions (they were the 3rd gang I took on), I had level 6 style and infinite respect.

Ahahahaha...

I fucking told you the respect thing is bullsh*t...

----------------------------------------------

Up to level 10 in Dead Space. I don't like that
the fast twitchy things are onboard the Ishimura now

Those thing creep me out...

I honestly didn't think I'd like Dead Space as much as I do...

And Dead Space is definately building my anticipation for RE5

---------------------------

TMK, why the hell would you trade a game for 14¢?

At that point, why wouldn't you just keep it?

I mean, I still have Perfect Dark Zero cause it ain't worth sh*t, and I HATE that fucking game

:bomb:

The Mana Knight does some strange things.

Maximo is awesome. It's just that whole notion of "No way to recover from death traps and save points spread out over multiple hours of gameplay" thing that gets me.

My new PS2 slim is loud as fuck when I put Raiden 3 in. It's a CD game so I think it's just spinning faster, but Maximo doesn't do it.. it makes like a loud clicking/ticking sound when the disc is spinning. Hrm.

Finally done with Kirby Super Star Ultra, as done as I'm going to get anyway. Really hated the last few parts. I hate boss rush modes. But I slogged through the arena to see what I'd unlock. What do I get, another friggin' boss rush mode. Beat Hero to Helper with one character and got nothing. Looks like you have to either beat Arena completely or finish Hero to Helper with all 13 characters to unlock the rest which is another friggin boss rush mode and another lame sounding button pressing mini game. fuck that.

Time to put it on goozex, which works out well as it goes for $35 of points when the game cost $30. Overall the game was decent, but I had a hard time getting into it since it was just a bunch of short games and miini games. I'd have prefered just one long Kirby game. I'd probably give it a 6.5/10 overall.

I've got a level 6 style, but no infinite respect! How'd you pull that off?
psssht!!!!!!!! you guys are lame. those games hard?

then you haven't played....

http://mightyjilloff.dessgeega.com/

you all don't have a word till you play that.
Twelve minutes, twenty-seven seconds, seven deaths (one of which was not my fault - walking into the side of a spike should not kill you!). Only one real hard part. Damn gold skultullas.
Is Kirby Super Star worth playing through if someone played the fuck out of the SNES version?
No, I don't think the extra content on the DS version is worth it unless you're dying to replay the core game. Just some silly touch screen mini-games.

At any rate, that was fast! Already got a match on Goozex which is good as I can mail it out this afternoon before going out of town for a week tomorrow. I really love that site, has got me to play more games for much less cost.

I took this gaming quiz at another forum, and this is what I got:

The Helping Hand

Deliberate Sociable Fun Veteran (DSFV)

Generous, helpful, kind...a few of many positive attributes people see in you, the Helping Hand. Nothing satisfies you more than helping your teammates or friends out in all the games that you play. You may even look to assist people in some cases if there is no one around asking for help. In fact, the enjoyment that you receive from helping people rivals that of solving a puzzle, winning a battle, or achieving a hard objective in a game.

Heavily social intensive games tend to be what you enjoy the most although you can probably find something to take pleasure in with most games. For instance, if you happen to find yourself in a competitive first person shooter, you'd probably take the support class. We recommend you stick to games (and crowds!) where people will appreciate you more; these include more casual gamers seeking fun and excitement from games rather than the serious competitive ones.
http://www.mygamemug.com/results.php?t=DSFV

The results are right because that sounds exactly like me. I'll go out of my way to create Warhawk and Burnout Paradise games to create games for friends, and help them out with trophies. I am heavy casual with some games and usually enjoy the casual Wii games more than most (I kind of like Wii Sports), but it's other issues that keep me from being a big Wii fan.

I played some R2 beta this morning. First match was pretty crazy. Got into a smaller match doing well and really enjoyed it, but I had to quit early since I thought my Mom and I were going somewhere (then she changed her mind, so all that experienced I gained was lost. :whistle2:( ). I'll play again shortly.
I took this gaming quiz at another forum, and this is what I got:
That is pretty neat, mine was pretty spot on as well. Especially the bolded part.

The Average Joe
Deliberate Competitive Fun Learner (DCFL)
The Entertainment Software Association has this to say about the average gamer:

* The average game player is 33 years old and has been playing games for 12 years.
* The average game buyer is 40 years old.

We're going to go out on a limb and say you are very likely neither of these. So then, one might ask, who is the average gamer? Who is this mythical creature that no one can accurately describe? Here's our guess: someone like you.

So while you could care less about the evolution of video games and probably don't view games as anything more than pure entertainment, you do enjoy playing video games when you get the chance to. You love a few competitive short-session games and although you probably will occasionally shout at the screen, you'll probably stay silent on the mic to other players. Although you don't play too much, you are easy going enough to give most other types of gamers a try to play with.
You want hard games? I am impressed with anyone that can make it through "I Wanna Be The Guy".
http://kayin.pyoko.org/iwbtg/downloads.php
Oh man I tried playing that for like ten minutes and didn't even make it past the first section before I decided that there was no way I was going to be able to play it.

The Game Guru
Deliberate Competitive Fun Veteran (DCFV)
Your knowledge of gaming knows no bounds, Game Guru. You are the person many gamers go to when they have questions and generally most of the time, you have the right answers for them. You are unlikely to tie yourself into just playing one game, as it limits your expertise and experience you may gain from play others. It seems you love to learn everything about games, - the characters, the secrets, the developer, etc. Perhaps you should start a blog if you haven't already.

You typically don't like to hang around too long within a game and therefore avoid the more socially demanding ones. Playing quick rounds or small sessions are more your cup of tea. Once you've had your fun, it's back to the magazines, gaming blogs, forums, and the like where you can share your vast knowledge of all things video games.

Umm, that isn't me...
DMC4 bosses as Dante are a fucking joke.
They were in easy/normal, but once you start getting up to the harder difficulties, then they aren't as big of pushovers as they were before.

Also R2=hot stuff. Looks to be shooter of the year. True, there's not much competition in the near future, since all there is that I can think of is COD5, but still...

The Game Master
Deliberate Sociable Serious Veteran (DSSV)
As the GM, you are the most committed and responsible. You have gained many friends through all your games, and they highly respect your abilities and experience. Although you can be a pretty hardcore gamer, you act online just like you do in real life - mature and sociable. We like that - so please don't change.

You are typically elected the leader when a game requires it; so don't hesitate to take control. Your style and finesse are needed, even if you rather not. Why settle for someone else who sucks leading the team?

You love games and play across the board with different people in different genres. Game Masters are the easiest to match, since you are easy-going enough to handle the extreme gamers and still have fun.

Close, I suppose.
I've got a level 6 style, but no infinite respect! How'd you pull that off?
Probably my OCD.

When I start an activity, I have to finish it, at least 3 levels, if not 6, no matter how much respect I needed, just for the bonuses.

They ripped off COD4 and did it right... though I'm still not happy about the clusterfucking.

FPS probably... overall shooter? gears 2 will trash it.

Hmm...

The Accidental Gamer
Deliberate Sociable Fun Learner (DSFL)
Well hello there! Based off your answers to the test, we think you are the Accidental Gamer, or what some people might call the "Casual Gamer". However, here at MyGameMug, we believe a "casual gamer" is a hard term to accurately describe. We think you don't really play online games that much or at all. You most likely 'accidentally' stumbled into online platform or PC gaming or recently started playing online and have developed some sort of curiosity.

Seeing how you've taken the time to complete this test, we will assume that you have experience in gaming, enjoy it, are level headed, and you are looking for people to play with. However, it is clear that you prefer to do other things to occupy your free time. Our recommendation is for you to play more video games online - who knows, you might 'accidentally' meet someone cool from MyGameMug if you do!

Your top 3 matches are:

Frocer
The Average Joe eyao
The Game Guru RayStorm
The Cyberathlete

That sound's about right.

Meh. I'm far enough in that I'm probably just going to see if there's a cheat code for respect. I mean... seriously, I need to gain one more neighborhood.

If Gears 2 is anything like the first one (which it probably will be) I'd say no, not at all. That game bored me to tears.

How does one get a Resistance 2 code? Is it too late to grab one? Maybe someone has an extra... I don't plan on getting Gears and I'm going to need some type of shooter...
If Gears 2 is anything like the first one (which it probably will be) I'd say no, not at all. That game bored me to tears.
The first one is still easily my favorite game of this generation and one my favorites of all time. And I barely played it online at all as I played it at a friends when it first came out as I didn't have a 360 at the time and only bought my own copy this spring.

Needless to say I can't wait for the second and really don't care about any other fall games. Doubt I'll buy any others as I'll be busy with Gears 2 and Oblivion on top of being swamped with work. Other stuff can wait until next year when I can get it off Goozex.
I got mine from here: https://beta.myresistance.net/en-us/Apply/BetaForm

I think today is the last day to sign up. If you want to go the easy route though, you could just pre-order at GS and they'll give you a code.

I don't know why, but I always think that beta's are stupid hard to get in to. Meh. Kendal's hooking me up with his code. Much appreciated by the way.

Are a lot of you guys planning on getting R2 like right around release time?

Gears 1 is easily one of the best co-op game I've played. Last Thanksgiving, my best friend and I marathoned it, and this Thanksgiving we're going to push through the second one. Oh so good....

My quiz result was TMK. Hmm.

Not wrong, other than the heavily social intensive games part. I think that happens if you pick the Medic.

The game was just too repetitive for me. I wanted to like it, I really really did, but I didn't. I was forcing myself to play it at one point, but once I realized that's what I was doing I sold it.

Definitely. At my buddy's house we played through in Casual and Hardcore in marathons when it first came out.

And when I got my copy this year I played through it in hardcore and insane in marathons with another buddy.

I'll be doing the same with him when Gears 2 comes out. Having it delivered to our office with release date delivery from Amazon, and as soon as it arrives we're taking off, hitting the liquor store for some tasty micro brews and going to plow through as much as we can.

Fair enough, to each his own. I've been that way with many games, most recently GTAIV. I still regret wasting 21 hours on it before giving up on the boring, repetitive piece of shit.

I still haven't gotten GTA4 because I never really enjoyed any of the others. People say this one is far better, but I don't believe it.

Haha. I bought the first one, my friend is buying the second. Fair trade

But really, I don't think you can really match the local co-op atmosphere with like... any next gen title. Except maybe the Halo's or Star Wars Battlefront(with my friends at least)

Don't. I hated GTA 3 and took a chance on this one from the hype saying it was much better. It is definitely better, but not enough to make people like us who didn't like the series enjoy it.

gears2 and left4dead > resistance 2 by a mile! At least people have headsets on those..
gears2 and left4dead > resistance 2 by a mile! At least people have headsets on those..
From what I've played on Consoles online, I wish people didn't have headsets.

I don't think it is any better, it's GTA with improved graphics. I didn't find it enjoyable at all. The first GTA game I ever spent a significant amount of time with was San Andreas, and it was great, because of the novelty. GTA4 felt the same except things looked a bit different, same linear missions. It just wasn't any fun. Played one and you've played em all IMO.

ill give you geasr2> R2 but its L4D
So I'm really tempted to trade all my Rock Band stuff in to G$. Any ideas as to what the trade in value would be?
Mic: ~$4

Guitar: ~$4 for wired Strat

Game: ~$9

Drums: They don't take the drums usually

The one improvement I saw was that the combat was much improved. The aiming was done better, and the cover system helped a lot though the controls could still have been better.

But like I said, it's not enough to change the mind of someone like you or I that haven't enjoyed the series.

And definitely don't take RB to Gamestop. Sell it locally on Craig's List. You'll come out much better.

Hiya GGT! Haven't had much time for gaming. Just had inventory at work so I've been kinda busy. But now inventory is over and I can return to what passes for normalcy in my life. :)

I agree with benjamouth about GTAIV. I actually thought it would be a different experience from all the other GTA games that came before. Sadly I was mistaken. Not to say that its a bad game, its just not as big a step up as GTA3 was from GTA2.

Seriously, I think there needs to be more The Sims-like options in the next GTA, and just more stuff to do in general. I want to be a pimp, dammit.

I did start up Persona 3 FES: The Answer.

Wow. That's pretty shitty. Meh. Maybe I'll throw them up on eBay or something.

edit: Good call on craigslist dmaul. I'm gonna do that tonight or tomorrow.
