Finally started playing MGS4 again last night for the first time since October, just passed
Raiden's Super Special Awesome Ninja Reveal Fight Sequence.

So I finally tried the Playstation Home thing. Yeah, um. Well. Ok. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but is it supposed to be boring? Geesh. But what a sausage-fest, eh?

Well, enough of that shit. Back to Persona 4.
I have a 32'' TV.

Seems just about right for the room it's in.
32" was fine in my apartment's living room, but whenever I win the lottery, or my SDTV dies, I'll be moving that one upstairs and getting a 47-50" set for the basement. Really just so I can fill up my TV stand, it's not really a priority for what little HD content I watch.

Abaddon is a real bitch in DDS2, I finally beat him by mantra grinding for an hour so I could emulate someone's Youtube recording. Hopefully that's the last time I have to deal with him.

Edit: Uh, I guess you can't hyperlink Youtube without having the media viewer pop up. Nice. And spoilering it kills the rest of my post. Love the forum code's intelligence.

32" is fine for me, I sit about 7 or 8 feet away from it. I need to put on my glasses for some games though. The problem in upgrading for me is that I move around a lot. Hopefully the apartment I get at the beginning of law school will be the one I stay in for a few years.

One thing I hate about Persona 4 is that you can't enter the TV during the night. It makes working on social links a pain...

AAAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAH

Alright, that was funny.

Interestingly, the TV is back to normal today... hmm...

I kinda want to upgrade anyway....

Edit: Nvm, it's back to it's old tricks (well, old as in... yesterday's tricks) again!

TV size is all relative to what you're used to. If a 32" is the first wide screen set you've owned, then it will be sufficient.

But once you buy a bigger TV you'll never want anything smaller. Even my 50" has "shrunk" in that I've gotten used to it and it doesnt' seem that large any more and I'd kind of like something bigger as it's in a very large living room and I sit 12 feet or so away.

But I'll be moving this summer and probably to a smaller place--either to my girlfriends condo where I could only sit 6 or 7 feet away or getting my own smaller place in the city, so the size will probably be fine after that. So I have no plans to upgrade it short term. Probably wait until the bulb goes out and then decide if I want to buy a new one or just get a new TV.

But there's nothing wrong with starting smaller, especially since so many who post here are high school students, college students etc. who have tight budgets, no living room, move a lot etc. Just don't convince yourself that a 32" or whatever will always be good enough as you're missing out on a lot if you never upgrade. Having a bigger screen really adds a lot to movies, gaming, sports, TV etc.

55" TV and never going back.

At first I didn't like it. Didn't look that big in the store when it was next to 65" and 70" sets and it seemed so huge when it was in the living room.

Can't live without it now. Next will be as big or bigger.
Kind of like dmaul, my set doesn't feel so big now and I find myself imagining a 70" plasma on the wall....

120" screen and dunno if I could ever go back to play on anything smaller than 50" after this lol.

Tempted by the PoP pc deal on amazon for 28 but not sure yet.

Been reading instead of gaming as of late lol. Friend lent me the eragon books and those are pretty good so almost done there and maybe play NG2 or Fable 2.

welll... wow.

Probably a projector set up. I'd eventually love to have one if I ever have a big enough house. Have a nice 50-60" TV in the living room to use for most of TV watching, gaming etc., and have a dedicated theater room with a projector and 100" plus screen to use primarily for movies.

There's a 10% off used product coupon floating around as well. It expires on the 19th.

Yeah, CN is getting totally hammered. What really sucks is that they make you re-register [almost] every fuck ing game you've already registered before--AND make you take a fuck ing survey on top of it!

Then again, if that's what it takes to finally get this fuck ing club, then so be it. >_<

Edit: holy shit, it's not taking my forms correctly. I'll just wait until the madness subsides (will it subside?), and try again later. At least they give you a good amount time to take the survey before it expires.

Yeah its a projector setup. It is great for games but it really shines on blurays. Only downside is after my 5000+ hours (If it makes it that far) on the bulb and it goes out, I have to replace it ($400 right there).

Thanks, jer.

Me too, Preston. This is the reply I got:

So.... no help what so ever. :bomb: And her pink/purple font was very professional.

Nintendo only hires professionals. Professionals that use magenta fonts. :)

At least I think that's magenta. I'm not sure.

A friend is coming back home later. He's been gone for months on a trip. So when he gets here, we're going to co-op Gears 2 finally. He wanted me to wait for him, so I did.

Nice - Hank just got asked out by a (presumably) girl.

Should be deciding on the new telly tomorrow morning. I've got one picked out, but I wanna look at it in store and see what I think.

Wow, the 1UP show was surprisingly positive and hopeful about Home (or more specifically, it's future)
Pretty much what I felt about it.

EDIT: First show I listened to. I only wanted to hear the Noby Noby Boy and Flower stuff. (also very positive impressions from both)

The online meta game aspect for Noby Noby Boy is pretty weird but interesting..
How cute.
He said, "You better fucking wait for my ass before you play that shit!" Pretty cute. :)
haHA!

awww... You're so sweet, Hank. Wait for me, too.
I'll wait for you. :)

There's a first time for everything. ;)

You had better have pics of that new Olevia when you get it.

Yeah, f'sho. I was gonna do collection pics anyway in a few weeks. The downside to all this is that I won't be getting the recliner I've wanted for a while (most likely), but... whatever. Hard to find a downside to getting a shiny new TV.

from Sceptre!

My Olevia (which I ended up giving to my mom) got some messed up image retention after about 1.5 years. :shakes fist:

There's two light, fuzzy lines going down where a 4:3 image would be cropped.
So when watching full screen content, it's fine. Watching widescreen content has the two annoying lines on there.

My mom doesn't care too much or else I'd buy her another.

(i gave it to her just before the defect showed up)

Psh, screw sceptre. Go for a Dynex or Vizio.

Dynex is top tier. Best Buy is the premier HDTV retailer, so it makes sense that they would have the best brand of HDTVs.

A bit OT, but besides hanging with my friend this week like I said earlier and playing some games with him, we're going to work on our EP. We're aiming for 5 complete songs. We have way more from just jamming, but we are going to pick the best 5 and polish them up.

It's just us right now. We need a bassist and singer. So my friend is going to lay down the bass lines and maybe sing too. That should be pretty amusing. Then we'll use the EP to get people interested in joining us.

Gaming wise, I'm going to play Gears 2 obviously, and I may start in on Fallout 3 finally, as well as my usual fighters that I play all the time.
It's made in America, but it's going to kick fucking ass despite that fact.
american games are good. european games are good. japanese games are good.

in the end dev territory is slowly becoming less of an issue IMHO.

Yeah right, Rolento.

You are the advocate for Japan >.

You have shown me the way.

Fallout 3 > Oblivion
So I'm curious as to my fellow GGTers opinions on this. For those who have played both, which is superior:

Fallout 3 or Oblivion?
Fallout 3 by far. the world is much more interesting and so is the gameplay, writing, and quests.

Jesus, MGS4 and the cutscenes.

where are you at in the game? if it's early and you're already complaining, just wait. pretty much all of acts 4 and 5 are cutscenes

Near the beginning of Act 3. IDK, all of
the end of Act 2 was just "run three feet. Cutscene. Now ride on the back of Drebin's vehicle. Cutscene. Ride. Cutscene. Ride. Oh shit, Raiden. Oh shit, roboty hoppy things everywhere, cool, let's fight--except, no, just run three feet and cutscene.

Then the seemingly unending Mission Briefing, ecspecially Naomi talking to Sunny forever. And then Otacon. Forever.

Raiden is badass though.

And now...
WTF is this trenchcoat-wearing walking-around-a-city stuff? I don't even know what I'm doing because I hit start to pause the codec convo, not realizing it would skip it instead.
