GGT 111: JSP finally made another one and it will probably be stupid

Response to Kotaku article:

1. Less? I want to use EVERYONE in my party in battle! Why do they limit me?

2. New worlds. Like that means something to me right now?

3. Big? But it better not be the same old corridor shooting broken into segments. Change it up! Take Uncharted 2 as the example (might be impossible to beat though).

4. Wait there is thinking in Mass Effect 3 now? In ME2 the game just did everything for you. Either way, dumb team AI always ruins a game. Just give me a whole team, then I will feel better.

5. This better mean an improved ME1 weapon customization. I will be happy to be able to customize my guns according to the battles ahead (geth/synthetics, humans, reapers, etc).

Bioware, get your shit together. Sure you might get sales, but go above and beyond. You were once a great RPG developer. Now you are just a great cut-scene cinematic developer. I play games, not watch them (exception: fighting game streams). Evolve the genre, not milk it to death.

Fewer characters is good. I remember watching an interview with Warren Spector and some guy from the Invisible War team about what went wrong between the first Deus Ex and the second, and while a lot of the things are obvious, I didn't realize until they mentioned it: IW had a bloated-as-fuck cast list, and it hurt the game considerably, just like the fact that this sentence is over half this fucking paragraph is really hurting the flow of this post. As much as I liked the cast of Mass Effect 1 and 2, very few of the characters really needed to be there. Jacob in particular should have been folded into what's-his-name-that-Miranda-kills-when-she-first-appears. If a companion isn't necessary to the plot, he/she can be safely scrapped.

But it's an awesome character and you don't want to remove him? Then make him plot-relevant, hypothetical person that I'm apparently very angry with (you dumb cunt).

Unnecessary Addendum: The above is a little on the general side. But only a little.
You obviously don't know a great game at a great price when you see it
By that logic, finding it for $10 would make the game better yes?

If X game = X price

If X = AWESOME

Then AWESOME price = AWESOME game.

I think I shall wait for the awesome game at an awesome price :bouncy:

Lower prices don't make a game better. But buying a great game like Mindjack now will give you bragging rights for owning it.

Just doing logic math. whoknows was the one that set the rule. I just provided a proof. It may not be factual, but under the rules that were set, I shall call it the truth.

It happened to my fiancee's friend last week. I lol'd then realized I shouldn't tempt the gods.

fuck, I'm tired. I feel like I didn't sleep last night. I need some Amp and corndogs.
Agreed. The RRoD is so 2 years ago.

Really, it is. Does that still actually happen to people?
If I played my 360 enough, I'm sure it would... the fan in it has sounded like it was going to die since day 1 -- I won't be surprised when it does RROD, out of warranty.

Oooooh. Mortal Kombat collection confirmed for $10 on XBLA/PSN (if PSN ever comes back) in late summer. Arcade perfect ports of MK, MKII, MK3, all with online and leaderboards. Nice!

Well a few people have mentioned slim units dying, but it doesn't seem nearly as prevalent.

Plus it's supposed to shut itself down if it gets too hot. Mine blows out a ton of hot air, so it seems they have a better system for expelling heat in the slim than they had in the orginal model.

Who has the fanboy hipster horn?!

No fanboy here. Only have a slim as my old one RROD'd on New Year's Eve--about 2 months outside the 3 year RROD warranty. :bomb:

So just wishful thinking that the slims have the problem mostly fixed since it's just a 1 year warranty on them!

A friend in my gameshare bought MKII when it came out on PSN and we played it once. I forgot why until PSN went down and I gave it another try. It's the shittiest port of anything and unresponsive as hell. I'm assuming this one will be better. Not like it matters to me since fighting games are my gaming Achilles heel.

I thought the general consensus on MKII PSN port was that it was a good one. The old games were slow as hell and cludgy until UMK3 when it sped up a bit and had the run mechanic and dial-a-combo.

The good news for most people here is that MKII will be available on 360 and MK3 will be available on PS3, finally.

Maybe I just remember them fondly from my childhood then. The slow down was likely exacerbated by my frustration with being shitty at the game.

Yeah, MK1 and MK2 just didn't age well. Played the shit out of them back in High School or middle school (whenever it was that they came out), but they pretty much suck to try and play now.

I kept getting punched in the face over and over, then they would uppercut me into the acid/lava/spiked ceiling. I rage quit after a few tries and I don't even do that with Demon's Souls.

Might also be the difference between arcade and console versions -- if you were used to say, a genesis version, it might have played faster than it should have or something like that.

360 slims don't get the RRoD.

They get the RDoD, Red Dot of Death.

Having an actual intake fan = best thing they've done. Love my matte finished Slimz, way better than that glossy shit. ^__^

The glossy worked well for me since it's on a shelf above my DirectTV DVR and a Sony Blu Ray player that are both black and glossy.

But, yeah, in general I prefer matte finishes as they don't show dust and smudges so easily.

I love my matte blue DSi. All handhelds should have matte finishes because it's inevitable for a shiny handheld to get all smudged up.

I would sort of like to get a slim PS3 if/when they drop the price, but I would find it hard to part with my MGS gun-metal PS3 and can't justify having two since I'm the only one that uses it.

My 60 GB PS3 looked like shit 3 days after I had it. Pulled it out of the box and used it, 3 days later I just wiped the dust off of it and blam, assload of scratches.

Ya, my PS3 is a dust magnet and also shows smudges. The PSP is also a major smudge offender. I'm all for matte finishes, or glossy ones that don't show smudges at least, like my metallic pink DS Lite you don't really see the smudges on that, my blue 3DS isn't too bad either although shows smudges on the top part of the case.

I hate having a PSP since the PSN went down, but I can't bring myself to part with the Darth Vader PSP. Not to mention I have beat the screen to hell since getting it and I doubt anyone would want it now.

Got my: The Art of Alice Madness Returns book today. It is AWESOME! :hot: Like the book is much bigger than I expected, and the pages are really thick. Goes without saying the artwork is beautiful. :D
