I saw TRU's cyber monday deals and was happy to see a Buy 1, Get 1 50% off. Then I saw the list of games and was flabbergasted at the choices, it had everything I wanted! I got to the cart and saw it only worked if combined with one game from a list consisting of MW3, BF3, NFS, etc. I am very disappointed, I hope amazon matches it and does it better.
Dat's Marvel, shit always flying on screen.
yeah, but there's a shit ton of other fighters where shit is all over the screen and I'm like "This makes sense."

What doesn't make sense to you in it?

I've gotten to level 20 in Skyrim. I've done tons of quests and while I haven't finished the main game, I do think I'm done for the time being. I have lost the want to continue my adventures in that world. On to ACR, I suppose.

A few basic tips for Marvel 3...

- Always remember to block in the direction of the opponent's point character... ignore assists / projectiles etc... that are behind you.
- If you are dashing, hold Up/Back to instantly cancel your dash into a block when needed
- Don't spam assist against a character with metered stocked or someone who is in close and can immediately take out you and your assist character via X-Factor
- Good team synergy is a must... make sure you are using an assist that works for you. Beam / Multi-shot projectile assists are awesome on any team (Sent Drone, Doom Laser, Task Arrows, Hawk Arrows). They have a million uses.
- Unless you really know what you're doing, try not to build a team of all close range characters. You'll be free to zone heavy characters like Arthur, Hawkeye, Deadpool etc...
- Don't use the team aerial exchange combos against anyone who knows what they are doing unless it is a total surprise move
- Always know your characters bread and butters. Hitting the BnB that does 550,000 damage consistently will win you way more matches than hitting the extremely hard combo that does 630,000 damage that you drop 1/2 the time.
- Knowing your opponents character is as important as knowing your own. Adjust your strategy accordingly (example zone Iron Fist, rush-down Arthur, stay away from Ghost Rider when he has 3 bars stocked etc...)
- Always know your characters throw follow-ups (ex. Task Legion Arrow Super, Ghost Rider L Hellfire ->Maelstrom, Sent L Rocket Punch -> Plasma Storm, Nova L Centurion Art -> M, H, S)
- Have a gameplan in your head of how your characters DHC's will work together
- Know when to pop your X-Factor... this will make or break your match more than anything else... don't ALWAYS save it for your final character. Use it proactively.
- When you finish a character off, have a game plan for what you think the guy is going to do as his new character drops in and what you should do against that (dash under -> S works awesome, especially online)

Post up with any character specific questions or if you want some more general strats, I could easily do a Vol. II to this post.

Flying home tomorrow afternoon. It was a nice trip, but it will be nice to get back to my own bed. Can't wait to play some games.

Wouldn't you get hit by the projectile behind you if your opponent isn't attacking and you're not in block stun then?

This would be true in most games, but it isn't how it works in Marvel.

I played MvC3 for a week max when it came out, so I know jack shit about it. So you don't have to block in the opposite direction to block a projectile behind you? That's such a foreign concept to me, but it's good to know I don't have to block in the direction the projectile or assist is coming from.

Takes some getting used to, but that is right. Just block in the direction of the opponent's active character.

Also, distgfx / whoever else... is BBCS2 worth picking up at this point? I'm struggling to find ideas for gifts for Christmas, so I was thinking about asking for that but I don't know how soon it is till a superior version comes out

Aight, thanks for the tip.

No, the new one comes out in February around the Vita release. Sucks that they're doing it that way, but whatever. Don't bother picking it up now, I already sold my 360 copy and PS3 copy anyway.

I will take all this to heart, but not promise myself I'll get any good.

I'd love to get decent with Frank and Nova, but I don't see it happening.

Is it simultaneous release between the three platforms? I think I read that once, but I can't even find a date for the Vita release so I may just be making shit up.

Yeah, it's the same for Japan ... except the Vita comes out in December there.

Are you going to get BB on all 3?
You mean not yet.
I don't see why I would.
No, just PS3 and maybe when I get a Vita.
I kind of want it on the Vita, but I feel like a fighter on a portable would play kind of sluggish. Then again, the Vita is supposed to be amazing so who knows.

I don't goof off, my job is serious.

Nah, not really. I sit around and watch Netflix or play my PSP or something, so you totally could have shown up since I'm alone til other people show up early morning :p

I'm in the same boat.

Except for when I work during weekday mornings, there is much more going on that I have to pay attention to.

On the weekends and my overnight shifts? Shiiiiiit, PSP all the way, yo.

AWESOME!

One day, I'll road trip it, dawg. It'll be like weekend at Bernie's, but it'll be with you during your work shift with no dead guys!

That isn't a promise on the no dead guys thing.

That's pretty much how it is here. Day is busy, but I never work that. Swing shift is busy for a few hours then dies, but overnights are usually pretty dead, and yet overnights pay the most. Works for me

You totally should. Since you're in Kansas we're practically neighbors!

/edit: Assholes, that is not how you do this. Follow the damn robert rules. However I will retro-active all preceding votes.

The floor is open to vote on:

Joel is not allowed to post youtube links.

For motion to pass we need a 2/3rds passing vote of quorum. Since we have no official listing of active GGT members, I will declare that we only need 3 people to vote. "Aye" for a yes and "No" for a no.

Voting has commenced:

j-cart: Aye
corrosivefrost: Aye
BlueScrote: Aye

All votes are accounted for, motion has passed.
