yeah, 360 is where i'll be getting it initially. I may pick it up on pc down the line like i did with the first one.
$5? $5.

-P3P is such a time sink. I have about 40 hours in it and I think I am only a 1/3rd of the way through it (Persona level is currently 39).
Damn, I'm 20 hours in and level 27, was hoping I was half way done.
Damn, I'm 20 hours in and level 27, was hoping I was half way done.
I think I beat the original P3 in 80 hours back on the PS2, although that was with some pointless grinding at the end of the game (didn't realize this since there is a special dungeon with some fairly scary enemies in it, but the final boss was a cake walk compared to the monsters you fight there), if you push once you make it to the final stage of the game (since it gives you too much time to prepare, like most of the other months) you could probably finish it in maybe 60-70. Probably could be done even faster, but it wasn't like I was trying to speed run the game.

How much of that time was spent grinding?
How much of that time was spent grinding?
That game is like 45% randomly generated dungeon grinding, 5% demon fusing, and 50% hanging out with people and story. So probably around 18 hours.
That game is like 45% randomly generated dungeon grinding
Thank you for telling me why I will never play that game.
Thank you for telling me why I will never play that game.
Well to be fair the grinding is actually fairly fun, but I don't think anyone could pretend that part of the game is anything but grinding, since the game basically says, "You have a month of in-game time to train (grind) up so you are ready for the super enemy which is coming." I guess my breakdown doesn't include the bosses, but we can just roll that into the story percent, since those sections all served to advance the story.
I just go up the floors and beat the boss, and visit the tower like 2-3 times a month to do so. Wouldn't call that grinding.
That is basically what I did, but the dungeons serve no purpose other than to make you more powerful and give you more powerful demons, there really isn't useful loot in them. Although I guess some of the missions have some alright rewards so you could do some of those. I mean it is fairly similar to a Pokemon game, you are really doing most battles to either get more pokemon (demons) or to level your pokemon (demons) up, and pokemon is a game I'd consider to be fairly grindy too.
Well to be fair the grinding is actually fairly fun
Just took a look at a gameplay video and I disagree.
I just go up the floors and beat the boss, and visit the tower like 2-3 times a month to do so. Wouldn't call that grinding.
Yeah, I wouldn't really call it grinding personally since when I would go to the tower it would generally be for the quests.
I'll actually be on 360 with it, sooner rather than later, if that's what you gents are picking up -- one of my good friends is like stupid crazy about Borderlands... and I know he'll want to play with me... and it's looking like I'll have the time to be available to him when he does, so I'll be working around his schedule, since he just fathered twins back in November...
Yep! 360 for me! I'll probably end up picking it up on everything once it drops in price some though.

Grinding has negative implications to it, but I guess you could call it that. The combat isn't all that interesting 90% of the time, but it looks good, is fairly painless, and tosses some nasty surprises at you every so often. Plus it rewards you plenty for spending time there, so you come back feeling accomplished.

Or your entire party gets randomly one shotted and you lose all your progress -_-

If there were a way to "like" posts I would like this one, because it sounds honest as fuck.

I wouldn't really call the actual dungeon sections any different than Pokemon (beyond the quests which do give you something extra to try and do, which is nice). But I'd say that Pokemon a fairly grindy game too. But then I don't agree that grinding needs to have a totally negative connotation, Pokemon and Persona 3 and 4 are all fun games that use a collection/fusion system to keep the reason for going through dungeon after dungeon interesting and meaningful.

Well I consider Pokemon more grind-heavy because there are times in that game where I go out and kill things for the sole purpose of leveling up. With Persona, the purpose of me going to the tower was to complete quests and move up the tower, with leveling being a secondary goal that just kind of happens along the way. So I guess it all depends on what you consider grinding to be.
I was grinding out my smithing last night in Skyrim, made like 100 iron daggers.
If you enchant those daggers, you can make a ton of profit as well as leveling your enchantment skill.
That's what I'm doing.
I believe drain health or paralyze or something like that gets the most money on weapons.
Josh, BlazBlue tonight at 9-ish? Unless mikey or hank wants to play 3s with us instead or something.
Yep, sounds good.

Yeah, I think it's paralyze.

Man.

I forgot how much 2nd edition D&D hates you on a personal and intimate level. A pack of six of the weakest enemies in the game? LOLNO, there's another eight just off-screen running towards you right now. One mage? Can't hit him during his long-ass charge up; he one-shots you with his first spell. A lone ogre? Can kill any party member in one good hit. A group of kobolds? Mass arrow-rape the first party member that comes in to view.

I kinda missed this.

I had this group of fat ass horkers chasing me around. I laughed at them before I slaughtered them. Then I caught a disease from them.

Karma.

Nothing will ever top Morrowind on that factor though. Diseased ass cliff racers chasing me around all day. fuck them.

I defiinitely spent a solid 80 hours on P3FES. I really enjoyed it too, but I haven't jumped into P4 since I don't feel like I have the time to dedicate to it.

awww yeah death spells. Yeah that's kind of annoying. I didn't mind the combat. Although I would have preferred more of the social aspect than the dungeon.

BG, PS:T, or Icewind Dale? or actual Pen and Paper?

BG1. Never played pen-and-paper in my life. And PST at least has the comfort of death being temporary.

Also, there's a cursed (unremovable) belt that changes your gender and you don't know this until you put it on.

Addendum: I had forgotten how much Xzar (an insane evil mage) looks like a guy I work with.

Just make sure to get your daily dose of vitamin Minsc!
I'm about halfway through Space Marine, and I have to say that it is the most surprisingly good game of 2011 for me.
Sounds like the Spider-Man Web of Shadows of whatever year that came out (although some of that may be attributed to the fact that I was playing that after Spider-Man 3 which is one of the worst games I've ever tried to actually play through, that was the only item I wasn't sad the burglar took when our apartment was broken into back in college since it was replaced with Web of Shadows on accident by the insurance company, and I actually really like Web of Shadows, it was enjoyable for what it was).

Just got robbed out of winning a PS Vita. 5 round, 5 game tournament at a launch party. I win the first 2 rounds (Little Deviants, Modnation Racers). Got randomed out in Wipeout. Rounds 4 and 5 were Marvel and Reality Fighters, which I would most likely have easily won.

I have it on steam, but I tend to buy stuff for my consoles too if it's cheap -- is it worth $15 worth of gameplay, now that GF fucked me out of Crysis 2?

Frost... mainly the joystiq review and a quick browsing of metacritic. On my phone or I would link you. Also, it's a new IP so I'm naturally intrigued.

That's where I got it. Well worth $15. I'd put it up there with Bulletstorm in terms of fun.

fuck it, I'll try a second order from GF then. I'll definitely play it sooner if I have it on a console. I can just resell it or trade it when done and if it really is as good as you say, I'll be glad I have a forever copy on Steam.

I really enjoyed Web Of Shadows as well. More than Shattered Dimensions. I really need to start a new game but I keep putting it off.

Ok, ordered -- seems there was some problem with the online on PS3, but I didn't read about any Skyrim type glitches.

BlueScrote -- I was looking mainly at XBLA games with 3+ person coop. I think X-Men does it. Wonder about Castle Crashers? I know WoTB doesn't.

Did Mordin and Grunt's loyalty missions tonight. Just Jack's left now (I think) then on to the IFF mission. Going to save the Shadow Broker DLC for post game.
