Crap, Disgaea Infinite comes out this week. I guess I'll forgot about Peace Walker for a while.
Isn't every Disgaea game infinite?
That's what it looked like in the gameplay videos I watched, but I was kinda hoping it wasn't the case.

Split/Second would be fine, but they fucked up the online so I can rarely get into a game. Lame.
Are you sure it's not because your TV is 1080i?
I'm buying a fucking car this week. Then I'll play Split/Second for real.
What kind of car?

I'm still debating on getting the normal MGS: PW bundle. But I have a feeling that will be around for a while so I'm in now rush.
Isn't every Disgaea game infinite?
Only if you're one of those people who really get into the game. As much as I love the series I have never been able to finish any of the games.

i got hooked to disgaea for about 15 hours and now I never want to see another SRPG again. I don't even like FFTactics all that much. Jeanne D'Arc looks cool though. Been meaning to try that out.

But I'm hooked to Peace Walker...I'm gonna play the fuck out of this game. Might even do co-op if I can find non-retards to ad-hoc party with.

I went and traded more stuff at GS today and ended up getting a good bit of credit, so I got Fallout 3 GOTY (360) and put a good bit of cred down on Crackdown 2. Had some trouble with getting the first disc of Fallout 3 GOTY working/installed when I got home and when I tried to bring it back they got really annoyed with me (because it was the last used copy and they thought I just installed the DLC and tried to return) and when I asked if I could just return it for my credit so I could rebuy it online and they told me no because the second disc makes it count as DLC and you cannot return DLC, so they had to convert a new copy into a used copy and give that to me instead. Which was awesome. I still have about $30 in credit and I thiiiink that I may pick up Demon Souls.

I beat Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands today. Gameplay was still really fun, and I platinumed the game in under 10 hours, but story sucked towards to end. I was going to originally keep it, but I think I may just sell it and get some of my money back now.

Deus Ex Human Revolution was no where near my radar (embarrassed to say I've never played the originals... though I should) but I just watched the trailer and so far I'm sold.

Been a while since a big budget game has pulled me in purely for the direction it wants to go. Has a very Matrix vibe to it mixed in with Blade Runner.

Wall of text, if anyone wants to discuss something about Dragon Age:

So I'm roughly 12 hours into Dragon Age right now, and I think it's a fantastic game. I'm probably going to run through it several more times, and it'll probably take me all summer. Though I have this gripe with it and I wanted to know if anyone else felt like it was fair criticism.

Bioware has always been believed that an RPG should be about you, the player taking a real role as a character both in the story and gameplay, and shaping events, relationships, and the world around you. Several of the developers have even claimed that RPGs who do not offer these aspects shouldn't even be called RPGs.

Fair enough, after all -- the conversational game play, moral dilemmas, and consequences in Dragon Age are a large part in why it's so enjoyable. But has anyone else noticed how forced this philosophy is in Dragon Age and previous Bioware games? I'll explain.

Early on in Dragon Age, regardless of your character's origin, you are largely the one that needs to prove himself in the beginning. After doing so, you meet the Grey Wardens and its more experienced members who guide you into becoming one of them. However, when the main quest truly begins, your veteran companion, Alistar, admits that he isn't comfortable being in a leadership position and would be more comfortable following your orders. This is a pretty powerful decision, but it's an obvious tool that Bioware used to get you to be the center of attention for a game that requires it.

And that's fine. Although that sounds forced, it's not an issue as they made it somewhat believable with their often excellent writing. The problem is what comes as a result.

You are traveling with a party of companions. These party members were not willing to join your adventure until you both accepted each others personalities, goals, and values. It's a very well done element and creates a real sense of the role playing immersion that Bioware so often talks about. However, after they are in your party, they take a significantly downward dip into becoming nothing but talking statues.

For example, an early party member I recruited was a girl named Leliana. She joined my party because she noticed the compassion and mercy I displayed, and also because her religion guided her to help me take on the evil of the land. She was strong willed, compassionate, and I looked forward to uncovering what she'd bring to my party. I enjoyed these types of situations in the game a great deal. Now, as I'd come across more moral dilemmas during quests and interactions with other NPCs, the rest of my party would often chime in their own advice, opinion, or reaction to my choices -- as real characters should. Awesome.

But has anyone noticed that the characters actually don't do anything? If I do something god awful or despicably evil, sure enough a character like Leliana is going to be highly offended and tell me she disapproves. And of course I'll gain or lose points of favor afterward. But never has a character within my party raised a finger against me. And who am I? According to my story I was just some commoner Dwarf rogue who's a fairly green member of the Grey Wardens and still uncertain of the cultures around him. Hell, I wouldn't even accomplish anything by myself in combat. And yet when I decide to kill a child in cold blood, my most pious and good willing party member who Bioware dedicated a great back story to, can only say, "I can't believe you did such a thing!"

Talk about a huge break of immersion.

Why am I some all powerful god of decision making? It's been a decade of these games where you're just this untouchable force. How am I supposed to believe I'm with other characters when all they can do is give me approval/disapproval. Does anyone else realize how much more amazing these situations could be if after making a decision, Leliana goes through a powerful dialogue and points her bow at my face, leaves my party, and gets me banned from local chantries?

How about a hug or something after doing something great? My god, any sort of animation would be reassuring that I'm an actual being in this amazing, well thought up world.

Like I said, it's still a fantastic game, and I personally love it. But does anyone else think it's about time we get an update on this tried and true dialogue system? It's been far too long.

The CG trailer is quite nice.
Who knows how the game will actually be.

There's at least one choice you can make that leads to characters like leilana or wynne to either fight you to the death or leave your party. There might be a couple more but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

Well that would certainly be cool to see. I just wish characters would show some more personality, doesn't necessarily have to be a huge dramatic act.

Yeah, I hope it holds up. So far the screens shown so far semi show promise.

Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure DX were rated for 360/PS3. Why in the heck would they release BOTH versions? And if you want to bring up DLC as an argument, that is shot down by the fact that DLC isn't rated by the ESRB.

Demon's Souls might be my favorite game this generation.

Despite all the hassle, looked like everything worked out for you in the end for the better.

I think I have ~$60 in GS credit floating around. I just haven't actually been in a GS in quite a while because of the lack of b2g1s and such.

For some reason I never really got into Jeanne D'Arc. Then again that seems to be the case with any level 5 game...

I guess I should dig up my PSP and get the Peace Walker demo another go.

Jeanne D'Arc was the most boring SRPG I've ever played. Probably... I really don't remember anything about it other than it being slow.

You should definitely head in there if you have some trades to do. Extra 50% is awesome. I think I may wait until the next sale, too, though. I would like to pick up Uncharted and KZ2 with Demon Souls.

Hey, Frosty, what would you compare Demon's Souls to? I've had very little hands-on time with it and I'm not sure if I'll like it still.

It's sort of third person combat/strategy based RPG.
It sort of reminds me of a balls to the wall version of those baldur's gate games on PS2/xbox but with more depth/challenge in with third person perspective.

That's the tutorial you play when you create a new class. You can get a good idea of the physical combat -- there's also D&D type spells, Bows/crossbows, all sorts of loot/item upgrades, etc.

I'm addicted.

Demon's Souls is easily the best game this gen. Nothing else comes close in terms of level design, boss battles, replayability, and originality.

It's phenomenal! I'm about 1/3 of the way through a second playthrough -- did 1-1/2-1/2-2/4-1 already -- next up is probably 5-1 or 3-1.

I just made the meat cleaver. Now if I could just find the "Pyramid Head" armor set... ^_^

My brother has been playing Demon Souls , and while he does like it , it also annoys him quite a bit. But mostly for the same reasons that have already been stated.

One thing I hate about Demon's Souls, but I'm relieved I haven't been fucked by it, is invading black phantoms.

There's a mechanic where you're either in "soul" or "body" form. Soul is what I usually play with.
If you're connected online and in body form, other people can "invade" the world you're in for PvP fights. You have no choice.

I've had 2 people do this to me (and actually stay to try to kill me). I've somehow destroyed them both.
Thank god. I was brimming with souls when they showed up too, as I had just killed a boss both times.

The only time the actual GAME has pissed me off is (a) when I lose all my souls and go to get them, and then the AI does some cheap bullshit moves and I end up dead again. I've probably lost like 300k souls like that so far. :\
But that's the long and the short of it. I've never actually gotten frustrated enough to give up on the game... I love it all the more for it, actually -- I just need to take a breather sometimes because the initial onset of rage from the loss of the massive amount of souls is overpowering. ^_^

I like how you frame it like it's a choice  I was in "body" form for about a total of maybe an hour of my 15 hours or so. But I suck bad at the game.

Especially when the only real "benefits" of being in body form is being able to fight black phantoms and being able to alter world tendency.

Once you get good, it is a choice... unless you have a bad run of luck or something fuct up happens. I usually get body form by beating a boss, then run to a world I want to tarnish and go commit suicide... saves on the "stone of emphemeral eyes" use if you're trying to get pure black world tendency somewhere. I still somehow need to get worlds 2 and 3 to pure white with my character to be pure white too... stupid collecting loot!
Especially when the only real "benefits" of being in body form is being able to fight black phantoms and being able to alter world tendency.
There's more to it than that, I think, like getting more than double health, depending on world tendency, receiving less damage, and maybe a few more... but like ninja dog, I'm so used to being in soul form that I feel like I cheated when I hit body form with a life bar the size of the screen.

The health benefit was the best part for me. I didn't get far enough to get into world tendency and more of the meat of the game. But I'm doing a full playthrough of it this summer.

I love the PVP in Demon's Souls. When you get the invaded message, just find a good hiding spot, wait for them to run past you, then unleash firestorm and your meat cleaver. Then send them taunting messages. Good times.

The tendency shit is annoying, because there's no clear gauge of what the current levels are -- I could swear my guy was pure white, but the stupid budda kid wouldn't give me the special ring for being so good. It's a complex procedure if you're trying to get all the stuff. :\

Someone tried that shit on me the other night after I took out Adjudicator on NG+. I was hanging around 4-2, unable to leave with evacuate because I was in body form, and I'd run down to buy arrows and kill the reaper for a ton of XP. Some asshat showed up. Tried to firestorm me , but I'd hid around the corner... he came around and I just let loose a normal combo on him and destroyed him. I couldn't believe how weak he was for knowing the firestorm spell. The other guy it was a roll/attack/heal thing... but I took him down too... I'm not a fan of it because I hate the thought I'm going to lose and forfeit a ton of souls.

I do wish, however, that the old monk would summon me so I could get that redonkulous headgear of his.

I just finished RDR. It started to drag towards the end(It felt like I just started playing a new game) but once I got past that I really enjoyed the ending of the game.

That redonkulous headgear is a pain in the ass to get. It took me 15 tries to get it. Everytime I'd win the fight, the other person would disconnect and I wouldn't get the hat. The easiest way to get summoned by the old monk is to drop your blue stone right at the beginning of 3-1 and wait around.

fuck world 5. That world is so obnoxious. The best part about the PvP is the tension is creates, which the already does well on its own.

I'm not excited for Super Scribblenauts, the first one was just terrible. Once you got over the fact that you can right "anything" (after about 5 minutes) it was so unexciting. And the controls/level design were horrendous.

"I can type any animal and the animal appears!" ... so does google images.

yeah, that game was straight up broken. The physics were awful.

There was a nuclear fuck ton of hype for that game on gaf before it came out too.

well, Super Scribs now has adjectives... I'm sure GAF will go balls over it for that reason alone.

Anyone know of good gaming places in Berlin? I'll be there for roughly a week. I might pick up some European PSN cards so I can download some PS1 stuff from there like Vagrant Story
