Story? All I cared about was the gameplay and it was the first Metroid game I really enjoyed. Maybe Metroid fans just don't like it, I know I'm not a Metroid fan.
Well when they try to put so much emphasis on story it's hard to not notice how bad it is. And as I said, I wasn't a fan of the gameplay either. Switching between holding the controller sideways and pointing at the TV never worked right for me. And nothing about the combat or exploration felt special to me. It just felt kind of tedious at times. I also hated the parts where you had to scan the room for a tiny little object or something to continue the game. Some of those parts took me forever for some reason. I don't feel like being a Metroid fan made me dislike the game, because like I said, I'm fine with other series re-imaginings, and even when Metroid went 3D. I guess it's just a personal taste thing when it comes to Other M, because I didn't care for it, but it obviously has plenty of fans as well.

I didn't hate the gameplay, I hated the story when I rented it.

Having said that, I'm still considering getting it on the cheap just to play and pass the cutscenes.
MP has been the same though since the first one, and people want more of the same.

Have any other Nintendo series has re-imaginings?
Well any of their 2D series going 3D usually felt different at first. And the Kirby series has had all kinds of different games. Other than Nintendo though, I really like PoP 2008 despite being a big fan of the Sands of Time Trilogy. And I'm looking forward to the new Devil May Cry game. Personally, I feel like more series need to be revived in new ways. I'm fine with Metroid Other M existing, and I'm glad they tried something new, I just personally didn't like it. (I didn't hate it either for the record, I just thought it was meh)

Yeah, other games have re-imaginings, but with Nintendo it's almost always the same and that's what people want. I mean, Zelda has been pretty much the same since it went 3d. They changed it a little with Wind Waker and people hated on it. I loved it though...besides the end fetch quest. Annoying.

Yeah, I loved Windwaker, it's probably in my top 3 Zeldas. And I don't disagree with you that most people just want more of the same. I'm just saying that I'm not one of those people, and that's not why I didn't like Other M. I think if it had been truly special, it would have less hate from others as well.

It tastes kinda gross but it certainly gets the job done. It will be missed.

Don't get me wrong, the gameplay wasn't exactly exceptional or "ZOMG! THIS IS GREAT!" It was just fun, which is something I hadn't experienced in a Metroid game yet, so this was refreshing for me. Oh, and the story, fuck unskippable cutscenes, seriously. I didn't want to listen to any of the shit they had to say, I wanted to continue playing and kicking ass.

And by "gets the job done", do you mean you wake up the next morning next to a fat walrus chick butt ass naked, in an unfamiliar place, and wondering who you pissed off for your life to take such a shameful turn?

Hopefully you wrapped up, bro.

This, nothing is worse than the hangover from something that has not a single natural ingredient in it.

Picked up a Samsung Focus today, I like the phone but it feels a bit plasticky. Mind you, portable cheesemints are go!!! :bouncy::bouncy:

Didn't more people hate Twilight Princess than Wind Waker due to it being pretty much a rehash of Ocarina of Time? For me, it pointed out how antiquated a lot of Zelda's aspects have become and it doesn't seem like the new game is going to be much of a change in reaction to the backlash.

All Metroids started to stink after Prime 1.
Bah you hypocrite!

A wheel is one thing I definitely don't have. To really make the most of one, IMO, you need chair and rig to support it, which I can't afford the $$$ or the space.
Yeah I admit, I kind of splurged on the wheel My setup right now is a ghetto Home Depot workspace stand with a chair. Maybe once I get some more space (like a basement) I'll build an actual cockpit.

I'm kind of surprised there isn't a big PC sim-racer. PC Seems like it would be the best fit for the genre.

Collected some birthday presents today (B-day's on the 29th)... got my new speakers, Eden of the East on Blu, and an unexpected Steam gift of that Lara Croft game from distgfx

I felt a lot of the hate came from the delay. It gave the game another year to be hyped up and it couldn't live up to it. And then you had the people who hated it simply because it wasn't OoT or Windwaker. Personally I enjoyed the game.... more than Windwaker....fuck sailing.

Maybe from the delay to make way for the Wii port, but it was still insanely hyped from the announcement with the trailer and Miyamoto coming out with the sword and shield from Zelda. I don't recall much of any dissent that wasn't just anti-Wii/Nintendo sentiment around the launch, so nobody really hated it until it came out and they saw what more-of-the-same Zelda was like with a new coat of paint.

I don't know what to think of Skyward Sword. Too much isn't known about it, but I don't know if it's going to be more of the same or not. It really depends on the game's progression I guess.

Twilight Princess didn't have enough adventure to it. You do the dungeons and go through the story and you're done. There's no exploration there. It's empty. Sure, there are caves to explore, but you only got Rupees, which are completely useless.
That's it? I thought I gave you something else.
You take the nostalgia out of Twilight Princess and you have an okay game.
You take the console away from Halo, and you get a pretty shitty shooter.

Someone add more.

You replace Square Enix with Atlus and you get severely underrated RPGs.

Ooooh, this sounds like fun.

You take the exclusivity of an original game away and you have a game with little attention.
You take the street fighter out of SFIV and have a very "meh" and unpopular fighter.
You take the combat out of DMC and get DmC. (maybe, but probably)
You take the RPG out of the genre and you have a game I might like.

I'll think of more later or something.

You take the cutscenes out of MGS4 and you have nothing to look forward to.
You take the aspect of choice out of Mass Effect and you get the same game.

You take the story out of Other M and please thousands of fans everywhere.
You take away Steam from PCs and lose a large chunk of the PC market.
You take away the difficulty from Ninja Gaiden and kill all re-playability.
You take away the ability to die in a game and create a long score attack mode.
You give people horse armor and they start a DLC trend.
You take away all RPG aspects to Fallout 3 and are left with a bad shooter.

I just beat AC Brotherhood, and honestly, I'm pleased with the way things ended. My thoughts for those that have finished it as well:

So I'm thinking that Lucy is actually a Templar. If you stepped outside while playing as Desmond, there was a trace of red indicating enemy presence, and the only person I ever saw out there (besides the very beginning) was Lucy. I don't think she died at the end, and my instincts are telling me Desmond and Lucy are Adam/Eve. What the heck was up with those voices at the end? Abstergo perhaps? And it sounded like Desmond when that voice said "No". While I was hoping for more explanations, I am definitely super amped for the next installment, which Im thinking we can all assume will be released in 2012.

Just to jump over to Ezio's ending really quick. WTF was that about? Why couldn't Cesare die? If anything, Ezio's ending was 100x's more confusing than Desmonds.

You should really catch up on AC2 before starting Brotherhood. You'll be doing yourself a favor, and it will most definitely help you understand more of what's going on. Wikipedia it if you have to.

Nooo... I was hoping to just jump in, I need to find me some cliff notes.

EDIT: Hmm... this game wasn't as straightforward as I had originally thought from when I first played two hours of AssCreed and about the same amount as AssCreed2

I loved AC2. Can't compare it to AC1 as I never bothered with that one with the reviews, and didn't figure I'd enjoy going back to it after playing AC2.

My theory is a bit different. I don't think Lucy is a Templar just in the way of Desmond's fate. If you listen during the ending Juno starts talking about how Desmond needs to continue his line by finding Eve. Also in The Truth video Subject 16 says that Desmond's son will be important. I think Desmond developing feelings for Lucy jeopardizes him fulfilling his duty of mating with Eve. Therefore Juno had Desmond kill her. The red path was merely to find your way back to the entrance in case you got lost. It was there long before the scene were Lucy goes outside. Also your other team members left as well. Such as Shaun going to get food, etc. Adam and Eve were actual people who Desmond is a descendant of, so I don't think they're Desmond or Lucy.

As for the voices I'd actually go with them being other Assassins before Templars. Shaun and Rebecca most likely brought Desmond back to HQ after what he did to find out what exactly happened.

And Cesare did die. Unless you mean the comment Cesare made about how he wouldn't die. I believe that was just him saying that even though he lost he'd still find a way to escape, which he did. So Ezio used the apple to see into the future and take care of Cesare.
As for the next game, Ubisoft already said it's coming in 2011.

I think the next one's coming out in late 2011 since Ubi keeps going on about it being a yearly franchise. I, too, though am excited to see how the end of the world happens in the game.

I agree about Lucy being a Templar, the mysterious e-mails she kept sending kept me suspicious the entire time. And I have no idea about Ezio's ending. Very wtf worthy.

Very good theories as well.
I think it could go in any direction at this point, and as much as I can understand why people are so upset by the ending, Im satisfied with it. This cliffhanger has me beyond excited for the next installment, more than any other game at this pont. I still dont think Lucy is dead though, she was stabbed in the stomach, not the heart (even though the trophy says otherwise). If Desmond needs to find Eve's descendent, what's to stop Lucy from being that person? So many questions left unanswered, I just hope the next game finally clarifies everything.
