IMO, 40 yr Old Virgin > Superbad > Knocked Up. Prolly gonna play some MGS today, if I can get the kids to nap together. This is my last day of summer. My last semester (at least for a little while) of school starts tomorrow. Hopefully I'll make it through, as I've already been hired for a job and began training.
Hmm, I guess its not a "dpad generation" vs. "analog generation" thing, then.
Don't get me wrong. I like d-pad. I do. I love it for fighting games and refuse to use the analog stick. But with BCR, I'm not really having trouble using the 360's analog stick... i'm only forced to the d-pad on the area map when I want to take a diagonal route.
You can use the Analog stick, don't get me wrong. I just find it a bit inaccurate, I think a decent dpad would be better.

I reckon the Dpad on the D3 is better than the one on the 360 pad, so when people have the choice I can understand them getting the PS3 version.
When you're playing a 2D game with 8 directions, I just think it'd be nice to have... 8 directions possible instead of 360.

I finally got my hands on some BCR...its sweet. It's such a nice upgrade and a remake done right.

On a side note:

I was watching I think the 1up show where they were talking about Bionic Commando Rearmed and they kept saying how hard the original BC was and they were talking about not having a health bar. I guess maybe I played a lot of the original but the health bar built up as you collected enough canisters and continues were had by defeating the trucks that stopped you en route to your areas. With all of that I never found the original BC that difficult. Did anyone find it hard back in the day or did they just not play it?
Perhaps they were talking about the Bionic Commando arcade game?
I had the C64 version of that (UK one I guess), it was sweet.

Yakuza, The Cell Phones = i want

Oh shit, I forgot all about Yakuza 2. Looks like September will be the month of the sleeper hits... Yakuza 2, Dragon Quest IV, Infinite Undiscovery... and maybe something else I'm completely forgetting.
http://www.giantbomb.com/my-little-pony-pinkie-pies-party/61-21074/
There's an original version of Pinkie Pie with a misprint on her cutie mark that sells for big $$ to MLP collectors.

That said, there is no need for an MLP game. At all.

I'm having trouble evolving some of my TWEWY pins. Like, I get them fully leveled, but they still say "this pin can evolve" as opposed to "this pin can not evolve." At the moment, I forget which ones though. I do remember that the yen pins all say they can evolve, but is that just for tin pin?

My god, i seriously need a website that lists all the games that came out this year.
I am missing a ton of stuff that I know i need to pick up on at some point.
And Disgaea 3 comes in a week... Daymn...
Disgaea 3 is $49.99 on Amazon right now. I wonder if that's a mistake or if that's the actual price.
That's the actual price.
Gamestop shows the same thing.
Wow, my goddamn motherfucking DS just fucking died on me. I don't know what the fucking hell happened. It just won't turn on at all now. fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck.
Charge, maybe?

yesterday i went to six flags discovery kingdom and now im 18
also my laptop just shipped today cant wait for it to get in and pick up the orange box
Perhaps they were talking about the Bionic Commando arcade game?
Seems unlikely because I don't think anyone played that POS.

Pins can evolve in 3 ways: Battle EXP, Roaming EXP, and Sleep EXP. (I forget the official terms.) Certain pins need certain EXP to evolve; there's a wiki somewhere that lists them all.

I remember that there was one pin that evolves into something mega strong if you use the right EXP but turns into like, 5 yen if you use the wrong one. =)

Well, they discussed the arcade game on the Bionic Commando Retronauts podcast... soo....

How old is it? The battery could just be shot and not charging anymore.
How old is it? The battery could just be shot and not charging anymore.
I got it back in February 07. It's definitely gotten use, but not like... that much. But it's just weird that it suddenly doesn't want to turn on at all... because it was fine last night.

Yeah, that's odd. Mines from June 2006 and is still going strong (as is my DS Phat from launch which my girlfriend has now). But I've not used mine much since late 2006/ early 2007 as there haven't been many games out that have interested me since then.

I'd just call up Nintendo, their customer service is generally very good about fixing/replacing broken hardware for cheap or free even outside of the 1 year warranty.

Sounds like the right idea. I might pick up a new system now, get the current one fixed, and then sell that one when I get it back... depends on how bored I get since the DS is allz I gotz where I am.

Hm Castle Crashers this week. Not likin' the $15 price tag. I'll get BCR first and see what reviews you guys have first.

I'd certainly call Ninty chac. My white ds lite has had the hinge crack twice (which they're only supposed to fix it the first time) and they fixed them both for free, gave me brand new 1 year warranties after each repair and even offered to replace the ds with a brand new one free of charge if it wasn't fixable. Nintendo has quite possibly the greatest customer service ever.

I thought it was next week.
I thought it was next week.
It is according to Gamerscore blog, a lot of people seem to think it's this week.

Galaga Legions is coming this week.
Wow, is Penny Arcade really becoming a Golf Comic?

What the fuck.
I don't know, but at least they've been funny so far.

You're right. I'm listening to CAGcast right now and Cheapy said it was this week. I blame him!

Anyway, gives me time to play BCR.
thank goodness my WoW sub expired.

fuck YOU, DYACK

I thought it was funny how on the 1Up show, the staff at 1up was pretending to think the game could be good when Dyack was there playing it with them... but it looked so shitty.

Wow.

Edit: Now that I've read the review though... that's one shoddy write-up.

I'm convinced that people are only nice to Dyack when he is around so he doesn't chew their ears off with pointless statistics and shit.
C- review for Too Human from 1up.

http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3169393

I'm even more on the fence now, it was already a maybe purchase at $20-30 down the road after playing the review. If it gets C level reviews across the board I may skip it altogether.
Huh, that's the whole review? Seems like part of a larger write-up.

Then again, the game has been previewed pretty badly and I wonder if that was all I needed to hear about the game.

Anyway, I wasn't interested in the game before and nothing has changed with that.

Wow, so these are the lyrics to that soul edge intro song.. Never bothered to look them up.

Go!
To shine!
We all need to shine on to see over
So come along and join me over
Yet to go searching for our star
Deep in the night
I pray in my heart with that passion light
And shall when we will go
And shall when we will fall
And jump from above
And gonna get the edge of soul
To carry on
One can be coming from the fearest side
And gonna get the edge of soul
To carry on
Deep in my heart
To go!
To shine!
To go!
To shine!
To go!

This is always what I thought they were..
Go!
To shine!
We all need to shine on to see how far
we've come on our journey.. howwww faaaaarrr
Yet to go searching for our star
Deep in the night
A fire in my heart,
it's not rational,
to show 'em where we're from
to shine from above
I'm gonna get to hold your soul
To carry on
Fight the feeling from the farthest one
And gonna get to hold your soul
To carry on

etc, etc.

lol. Braid is frustrating, in a forehead slapping, I should have thought of that sorta way.

Was it confirmed that Soul Calibur on XBLA does not have mission mode? I'd totally buy it if it did. Too Human is going to be a failure unlike anything we've seen yet this generation. At least Shadowrun was a fun game.

1up reviews, like EGM reviews, are very short. I don't mind as I never take the time to read long reviews on Gamespot etc., I more just like to check overall scores on gamerankings etc.

The problem isn't that the 1up review is short - it's that it's incomplete. I skimmed it, but I didn't see anything about the storyline.... that was supposed to be a huge part of the game - one of the major things that Dyack was touting as being revolutionary. The reviewer basically was like "hmm... okay, ima just talk about whatever shit comes to mind," and he got bored halfway through and just said "fuck it."

And Jer, mission mode has been cut from the XBLA Soul Calibur.

Was that what he considered to be revolutionary?
I kinda just remembered him talking a lot about the replay value, and how it was like Phantasy Star...

That's true, I skimmed it very quickly so I didn't notice that he didn't mention the story--as again I really only look at scores especially for a game I've already checked out a demo of.

I don't care enough about other's opinions to read many reviews, I mainly just check out demos, videos etc. and will pick up the game if I liked those, it's in a genre I like and it got decent reviews across the board.
