BCR is cool, but hard.
Tru dat! :bomb:

I've just got a couple more stages till I'm done with the story, but I haven't really tried any of the "challenge" things, so that'll keep me coming back I suppose. Still, its a great investment of $10.

I would LOVE to see another Bionic Commando 2D platformer. Make it happen, Capcom.
what's the best way to up your star rating in pub games?
Playing the spinnerbox games with a decent bet amount get's you a decent amount of points.

Playing in the tournaments seems to do very little for your rating.
Well, I'm neither gun or Kendal but I've done that fight a few times (I quit awhile ago). its pretty simple you have your rotating tanks because the second highest person on the aggro list gets hit with some nutty 10k attack or something, and everyone else just heals or damages the crap out of him. Watch out for the falling ceiling, youll die! Also he does some sorta blowback thingy that does more damage depending on how many people are in a certian distance of you, so you have to keep spread outish (you can run away for a bit after the blowback).

I think towards the end he gets frenzied or something so the tanks likely will die just before he dies, depending on your gear and stuff.

Thats a quick and dirty rundown, and I don't remember too many details since the last time I did that fight was mooooonths ago.

Yeah, it's slightly bigger than it should be. But when there's a valve label on something, I'm happy when its well recieved and gains some popuplarity with the casual gamer market. I've always found their games and stories to be intelligent and at times provoking. Seeing something of that calibre appreciated by more than the elitists makes me feel there's hope for mankind in general.
Portal was actually my first Valve game; my husband loves 'em, though. Their work does look like quality stuff overall, but I'm not much of a PC gamer to begin with, and even less of one now that I'm on a Mac all the time (which has Windows on it, but I hate to dual-boot).
I got it. Pretty fun, and was also funny. Will keep you busy for a couple hours.
Good to hear; thanks :)
There an item to use when it's like that, Mak... Gyshyll greens or something to that effect... it's like a chocobo carrot.
I haven't started it on the DS yet, but unless its different from the earlier versions of the game, this is it exactly. Use the greens and a chocobo will be lured out, giving you access to faster transport on land.
The demo is more than enough.
Oh, right. Because the demo = exactly how everything will be in the full game. There's absolutely no differences between them.
Slain, did you get the pokemon shirt from your GS?
I did, and I haven't decided if I'm going to wear it or just keep it as a nice display item. I would like to wear it because it's a pretty cool shirt, but I also don't want to ruin it by washing it.
The demo is more than enough.
Indeed. No liking the demo and the shit reviews it's getting are more than enough to write it off. If I was getting bored of the repetitive, bland combat in a 45 minute demo, I see little reason to think I wouldn't be bored stiff with the full game.

Plus Dyak's ravings are enough to make me never want to buy one of his games again even if he actually makes something decent in the future.

You guys remember talking not-so-hot preorder bonuses?

Well, if you preorder Banjo 3, you'll get the code for the first Banjo free. Now that's tempting.

I'd be tempted if Amazon has that offer for the 360, I'm not going to GS though. :nottalking:
That's not tempting, that's a fucking chore.
Manyg, I dunno what you are talking about.
I loved the shit out of the first Banjo back in the day.
And it still sounds fun to me.
Unless it doesn't pass the test of time...?

It doesn't. I liked that game when I first got it back in the day (meaning '98), but it didn't take long for me to realize that there's like.... jiggies, 4 different types of coins, feathers, and a fuckload of unnecessary bullshit to collect. And it sucks. That was the first 3D platformer I bought that I never bothered to finish. A few months after Banjo came out, I bought a PS1 and Tekken 3 and life was so much fucking better. No more stupid-ass platformers from incompetent Rare.

Wah.

Speaking of which, I should really finish HL2 Episode 2. I said I was going to throw it in Dat Tree Hundred Sixty last week, but I never did.

Once again, Chac hates everything.

Who's offering the Banjo preorder bonus? I'm down.

But collecting tons of shit is part of the primary gameplay! That's kinda the fun of it! I dunno, I remember having a blast collecting tons of shit.
I WILL be buying that game when it comes out though, regardless of whether or not I'm pre-ordering Banjo 3.
I only hate bullshit that sucks.
Funny you say that, because didn't you just like, buy a genesis?

Man, when I was 6, I liked playing Mario is Missing. When you're a kid, you'll play any fucking game and enjoy it.

You're gonna ask me whether you should buy the game when it's out, Ima say "fuck no," and you'll do it anyway. And then you'll play it and realize after 10 minutes, "oh wait, I shoulda listened." This is how it happens every time, linkolnpwns.

Hey now, let's not dis the Genesis. That thing has some damn good games.

I had fun with it back in the day, was still in high school, had tons of free time, needed to stretch my games out as I couldn't afford very many (mainly dependent on parents still) etc. etc.

But I have no patience for collect-a-thon gameplay today. Short, faced paced games are my main squeeze now, being busy as hell and having a limited attention span from having a stressful career.
Hey now, let's not dis the Genesis. That thing has some damn good games.
Please Chac, you know and I know that you'd had to be lying to yourself back in the day that buying that was a better choice than getting an SNES.

What did the system have other than 2 Vectorman games, 2 Shining games (shining in the darkness fails in comparison), Comix Zone, Phantasy star, and the copy and paste sonic games?
Oh, right. Because the demo = exactly how everything will be in the full game. There's absolutely no differences between them.
Unless the game completely changes the combat, character animations, shitty story, and bad gameplay I think it's safe to say the demo is a good indicator of what the game will be. That's the whole point of a demo. The company puts it out to show people what its game is like.

Oh and Banjo is garbage.

If you check the Genesis vs. SNES thread, you'll see that I clearly stated "yes, the SNES is better." Because it is. I wouldn't ever claim otherwise.

I saw your post in the SNES vs. Genesis thread and I know you know better. But with your recent saturn buying, I thought you would have picked that up over a genesis. Better choice IMO.

Banjo never did anything for me.

Cool, slain. Know anyone else who's big into pokemons around here? I was given another shirt yesterday.
Someone needs a hug.

good times.

NES

I haven't played shit lately, this sucks. I'm sleepy too.
Option.iv or mcelfour
Thanks, I was about to randomly PM one of them (I dont know either of 'em) but I figured out who to give it to. :whistle2:#

They need to put both Banjos and DK64 on VC/Live Arcade , so that I can further downsize my n64 collection. Oh and Blast Corps too. Better yet , do a remake/sequel to Blast Corps.

I cannot stress enough how much I agree with this. Even if the demo didn't show off everything, the combat system still sucked and that's enough reason for me to avoid this game like the plague.
If I didn't have have my zune I would buy that Archos in a heartbeat.
Not try to pimp my wares, but Archos shits on the Zune.

That damn spinnerbox cheezmint still escapes me.

Is it bad i failled the first mission of BCR 4 times?

Is it bad i can't beat Final Fantasy X?
I'm on the third battle with Seymour on the ice mountain where he can kill your characters in one hit, and no i don't have zombie-proof, so it's basically impossible :/.

Anyway, i'm most likely going to get Too Human at TRU. $50 sale + 20% coupon = $40. Nice.

B1G1 1/2 off, i can get any 360 game for ~$30.....wonder what to get....
Oh, right. Because the demo = exactly how everything will be in the full game. There's absolutely no differences between them.
ive played about 2 hours of the game (GameCrazy got the game on friday) and its the same....craptastic

If it makes you feel any better, I found that to be one of the toughest battles in the game. Good luck with it!

Too Human is a failure and you are too if you buy it

lol

Braid is so good, I'm fully immersed. The puzzles are brilliant!
I might buy Bangai-O Spirts today.. maybe?

I'm torn between Soul Calibur, Puzzle Quest, and Bomberman LIVE! with my extra 800pts..

I already have 800 and 1200 set aside for galaga and castle crashers!

How can you say all that with a straight face without even having played the full game? But, all in all, you've completely dismissed the game as a whole so even if it was good, you wouldn't see it. All the reviews are all over the place to begin with. gamespot's 5.5 (which in all honesty, gamespot wouldn't know a good game even if it gave 'em a swift kick in the pants. Low scores from them are cries for attention if I ever saw them) to IGN's 7.8. Metacritic seems think that 1Up's C- equates to a 42, while gamerankings says it's a 60. Last I checked, anything in the C range ranked from 70 to 79, but whatever.

It's hard to determine the game "fails" or is a "success" without anything being consistent as of yet.

Anyone who's played a lot of games can basically tell whether something's good or bad based on the demo. Too Human's demo didn't have minor issues like an uninteresting environment - it was fundamentally flawed at every turn. And that sort of logic implies you can never tell whether something is good or bad unless you've played the entire thing... which is just ridiculous. It took me about 1 minute of Aegis Wing, for example, to realize that it was cancerous.

I have an idea for Too Human. I recently won Monster Madness for PS3 in a contest, so i'm thinking or "returining" it to TRUS, getting a $40 gift card, then buying Too Human for $50 - $10 for the 20% coupon, and getting Too Human free.

I like it :)

Hey, if you have nothing better to do than spend time and money checking out games that you.....

1. Didn't like the demo for.
2. Are getting slammed by your most trusted review sources.

....then that's fine. But I'm busy as fuck, have little time for gaming and a waning interest in gaming as is. So I'm not about to waste any of my precious gaming time buying and playing a game where the demo didn't do much for me and it got shit reviews.

I stick to AAA games in genre's I like. I'll never play 90% of the games that look interesting to me, so best to focus on the cream of the crop and get the most bang out of my gaming time.

The demo and reviews are more than enough to make it clear that Too Human is not an AAA caliber game for me.

I have a life and don't have time to waste giving games second and third chances after not liking the demo much after playing it a couple of times, especially when the game is also getting poor reviews.
