same here... never saw what was loved so much about BG&E....

then again I wonder why people never play Killer 7, but that's a totally different matter.
Killer 7 was the shit.

I so wanted to like Killer 7, just because it's style was like crazysexycool, nowhamsayin? But the gameplay was so bad... I dunno, having invisible enemies, and then target practicing on them just wasn't that fun. Switching between the normal 3rd person view and the first person view was also kinda jarring.

I'd rather play Bionic Commando Rearmed.
Goddamn, it's annoying just to look at the Strong Bad games:

Ha ha. I just annoyed you all.

Why does budget game almost always = looks absolutely balls?
I watched my friend play the first part. I have never watched the flash cartoon, but I found the game to be pretty entertaining.

Makes me want to watch the flash...someday.

I've been very slowly forcing myself to play through Killer 7 (started on it three years ago) just to see what the hell Suda has going on there. One of the very few games I think are mediocre that I still want to play for some reason.

ninja, I thought it was pretty clear I didn't care for any of those games, thus the request for the explanation?

Zelda-lite is a good description of BG&E. Maybe I'd have enjoyed it more if it wasn't hyped to hell and back before I picked up a controller. That's one reason I don't think I'm ever going to play Psychonauts. It would have to be the best game ever made to live up to that niche hype.

Disaster intrigues me. I get a real RE4 vibe from it, which is a good thing. I hope it's a decent game and not just a waggle-fest.
That's cool, Ahadi. The only things my girlfriend has given me recently are chores. She's leaving to visit her parents in Florida on Friday for their 30th wedding anniversary, so she's like "Do this, and this, and this while I'm gone..." And I'm all "Yeah, right. I'm gonna be playing DQIV, silly girl. Get yo priorities straight." So, now she's threatening to take my DS with her, so I've had to hide it. She's been searching for it when she doesn't think I'm looking. Hahaha, silly girl. She'll never find it.
My girlfriend would not hand over TFU unless I promised I'd get all my homework done and make sure I go to class the next day(today).

On another note, I need a new background for my computer. I've got Metal Gear 4 currently, but I want something a bit more colorful. I'm thinking of trying to find a LittleBigPlanet one. Any suggestions?

I saw daroga's message later.. oops.

So Beyond Good and Evil is just one of those games that does the Zelda thing really well. Yeah, not for everyone, but I got it for $50 when it first came out and had a great time with it. It's not my favorite thing ever, but it was great.

Mega Man Legends is AWESOME!!!!. The end.

Well actually I just really thought the story had some charm, and the controls aren't so good today, but they still feel pretty good when you get the hang of it, circle strafing and upgrading weapons, and such. The RPG elements and sandboxy style help as well. It's one of my favorite favorite games and I'd love to have a new one come out on Wii or something with minimal waggle controls.

(Although the lost planet/dead rising engine was made with MML3 in mind..)
Just started playing ToV like Rei recommended to me a while ago ... it's weird.
I never heard of anyone referring to a Tales game as weird lol. Interesting.

you should know better than to listen to rei about anything anime, from japan, or pedophile related!
I never heard of anyone referring to a Tales game as weird lol. Interesting.
Well, it's certainly not what I expected. Come to think of it, I didn't know what to expect, I just don't recall ever playing an RPG like it. Dunno if I'll keep playing it though.
you should know better than to listen to rei about anything anime, from japan, or pedophile related!
...Pedophile related?

Hey, the new Knight Rider series actually improved from the pretty mediocre two hour pilot they had in February. It's about as cheesy as the original. Who-hoo!

Yakuza 2, JSRF, and Speed Racer Blu-Ray arrived today. I might try to sneak some Yakuza game time in before bed tonight.

I played the DC one a bit, and then had the double pack with my original Xbox but only played it while I waited to get Halo and Splinter Cell. It's time to go back and play it. And for 200 Goozex points, why not?

Mega Man Legends holds a special place in the PSone era of my heart. It was such an awesome game back in the day. If you tried to play it now.... you couldn't; it's that simple.
Rolento! I've seen many posts about you being able to make games. What exactly do you use? What language and libraries?
PM me. I'll give you some secrets that'll let you start making stuff in less than 10 min :p

I think saying BG+E is a zelda clone is pretty far off the mark. The Zelda games follow a very strict formula...we all know it like the back of our hands and BG+E doesn't follow it at all. Okami is closer to a zelda game than BG+E.

There's an overworld, there are "dungeons" and places to go, and that's about as far as the comparison goes. Plenty of gameplay elements in one that aren't in the other and vice versa. There are things that are deeper about BG+E and things that are deeper in Zelda. So basically, people who are saying BG+E is like Zelda should...try playing through BG+E to see what its actually like.

same here... never saw what was loved so much about BG&E....

then again I wonder why people never play Killer 7, but that's a totally different matter.

I think Killer 7's infamy has something to do with not everyone liking abstract, avant-garde, borderline non-sense, highly stylized games that are somewhat awkward to play and leave the player at a loss for words.
I like that kinda thing, personally. :)

Man I'm like, totally splurging on DS games this month. I bought Castlevania last friday, today I'm picking up Etrian Odyssey 2 from work with credit, on sunday I'm getting N+, Space Invaders Extreme and another $20 ds game from TRU in lieu of the buy 2 get 1 free on $20 games, plus, I have Dementium: The Ward and Animal Crossing coming in the mail from Goozex, and then Pokemon Platinum coming in the mail on either thursday or friday.

That's a total of like.......8 DS games!

I can see that, but I played through and completed BG&E and it just felt like a poor mans Zelda game to me. Or to be more general, just a mediocre action adventure game.

Probably because it just lacked the elements of Zelda that I like in my action adventure games (several dungeons, good puzzles, lots of items/weapons to use, a bigger world to explore etc. etc.) and added stuff that I don't like in games (stealth, picture taking, repetitive combat with the same few enemies made worse by only having 2 weapons, only 10-12 hours etc etc.).

Okami is definitely closer to Zelda, and is a game I enjoyed much more because of it as it offered what I'm looking for in action adventure games. Large world, good puzzles, lots of spells, different weapons etc. etc.

Not really the answer I had intended it to be, but I shall find out from your secrets \\:D/

I don't understand the hype behind Okami. Boring gameplay, annoying characters, dumb story....only think I liked is the art style.

I really need to get on selling that.

Hasn't that been on your list saying "Please take this POS off my hands" for like... ever? XD I share you sentiments about Okami though, just... not as harsh.

Yes it has, and no one will buy it lol.

Choke is a fucked up book. I think a videogame version would be interesting.

EDIT: My 360 has arrived in Mesquite Texas. How long does the repair usually take, a week?

As of today, the brodeo has died.

Shawn Elliot is leaving 1up. I hate everyone who contributed to this. In a year all we'll have is game informer BULLSHIT. fucking Gamestop zombies.

DON'T LEAVE ME GFW

Ahaha our World History teacher gave us the tripple time line proect think. We have to map out the dates of tool cultures and other stupid shit. Right at the bottom of the instructions it says "This lesson available from www.studentsfriend.com"

Of course, me being the lazy A student that I am, went to that site, and found the teacher cheat sheet for the project. Yay for free 100!

Should I use the exact dates on the cheat sheet or switch it up?

This is video game related in the fact that I totally preteneded to be in an adventure game when I did this.

The story was pretty shallow (but so are Zelda stories) but I liked most of the characters. Gameplay I liked a lot as exploring the world was fun, I liked the combat system, and there were some good puzzles that made good use of your brush moves.

But to each their own.

hmmm... seems that CAG has more eager devs out there than I realized. I'm thinking of posting something official to get a CAG team together where CAG can have a game made and published by CAG... wouldn't htat be great? well, I'll make it happen. it needs to happen.

it'll be my 10th attempt at forming a consistant dev team >_

It was a pain in the ass, but four trips to two stores netted me DQIV for $30. I'll be starting that shortly.

Fire Emblem is steadily approaching its completion. Second part of the endgame is pretty short so... two or three more parts after that?

I clocked in about 3 hours of Force Unleashed since I finished class. It's a really neat story, but the execution doesn't seem right. It's an excellent game, definitely a step in the right direction for future games. It's just not $60 great. I'm pretty sure I'm about an hour or two away from beating it.

Rolento, off the top of your head, are there any free programs I can check out to just mess around with trying to make games?

I have a XNA Creators Club code, if you want Ahadi you can have it. Just PM me.

Since I have been looking into that same field, I thought I was gonna use it. Alas, programming does not seem to be my forte, I need to look more into the creative part of game design.

I guess I'll shoot you a PM. Though I'm not really looking to do this as a career or job, just more like something to play with and perhaps pick up a hobby? Unless I absolutely love playing with this program... in which case... well I don't even know. Hah.
How well does game dev stuff pay, though? I know it's not all about the money, but it's something to think about.
it various....of course CIS gets paid more.

im debating between going into CIS and maybe branching into my corporate lawyer goal OR go into game design.....i think ill be happier in game design but im not too sure, i go crazy in all my CS projects, not just my game ones....im so fucked

anyways, ReRo, lmk..never hurts to have experience under my belt
