No price drop for DS or Wii this christmas LINK

And by "try and stop DS priacy", you must mean, "make it easier" by adding on board memory and an SD slot.
That link seems to be talking about the UK only but yeah I doubt there will be a price drop. I'll get a deal on one at some point hopefully.

I was surprised about the SD card thing but I thought Nintendo were genuinely concerned about DS piracy, maybe thats just a dog and pony show for developers.

I suppose as long as the hardware keeps selling they're golden.

Fatal Frame IV was published by Nintendo in Japan, so technically, that counts ;)

Anyway, don't mean to jump into this old argument myself, especially since I don't care what defines "core" games.

Yeah, I don't even care. There's a Wii in my household, I play it once a year, I'm good.

How long should it take me to finish TWEWY? I'm stating Day 2 of
Beat's chapter.
No company/dev/publisher gives a shit about anyone, don't single out to just Nintendo.

And if that wasn't the case, then Sony and Microsoft would have already shown me enough reasons as to why I should buy their consoles, but then again, that isn't the case.
I'm not talking about Nintendo caring for you emotionally or something.
all I was saying was that the camera/mp3 part of the system isn't made for you, thus nintendo doesn't care (and already knows) that you have a phone and a camera. They're novelty extras for kids to play with in lieu of an iPod. but I see this has already turned into list warz: nintendo really does love me edition...

on a side note, kinda funny how they can't call it iDS, but went for DSi instead.

I know it's not a well-liked series, but I'm pysched that Megaman Star Force 3 seems to be going back to a more Battle Network-style gameplay system.

Yippie! I completed the 100 lvl dungeon in FFX-2! I beat the final boss on my first try! Which says a lot, cause it took me 30+ tries to beat the boss on the 80th floor, and I only beat that one by pure luck and sheer awesome mad skillz.
On the 80th lvl boss, towards the end he killed off 2 of my girls, which left only Paine. I had her use a mega-phoenix to revive both of the dead ones. At the same time she was using the mega-phoenix, the boss hit her and killed her so all three of my girls were dead, BUT the item was used anyway, rezzing the other 2 girls, AND rezzing Paine herself. Yuna finished off the boss on her very next attack. Such an awesome fight.

Now that all the sidequests are complete, I can get on with finally finishing the game. Hopefully I can get it completed this weekend.

I never said Nintendo loved me or anything of the sort. Rei stated that Nintendo has nothing for core gamers, and I pointed out they do.
Nintendo's core offerings havent ever changed since they've been in the business, so if you dont like it now, you probably never did.
Or you liked it a lot back in the day and are past the point of dying for the next Zelda, Mario, Smash, or Metroid game.

I bet they've done something to prevent the current piracy methods. This isn't to say they have completed thwarted it. The pirates will just find another way around anything they do.

There's like... a combined total of 7 games on that Nintendo list that look like they have any potential at all. Guess it's better than nothing.
Well, there could be games that require the use the camera (which makes a DS port of FFVII cell phone spinoff Before Crisis an even stronger possibility).
Protip: A game that requires you to use the camera is a game that's not worth playing.

Nintendo's list of gimmickry expands evermore.

I'm curious how much attention these GC games going to the Wii are going to get. If we're getting Metroid Prime 1 with 3's control scheme, I'm there. If these games are patched just enough to use the Classic Controller, thanks but no thanks.
Glad to see we can dismiss things without even playing them!

Judging things is fun!
Of course I'm judging things. You don't judge games before you buy them? I've been playing games for almost 20 years now, I know what I like.
Guess what platform Samurai Warriors 3 is going to be on?
And guess what platform I won't be buying it on.

I'm easy to please , so nintendo's game lineup announcement made me happy. As for the DSi , I'll sure I'll get one , but I'll be keeping my Phat and Lite for continued GBA BC , not that I really need them for that since I still have my SP.

Well this is Ninty and judging from the unchanged VC titles I'd imagine they won't be changing much, if anything.
9:31: Real time demos of a game = break time for livebloggers. Speaking of first person shooters on Wii, are you guys interested in the "Wii de Asobu" collection? DSi is useless for me since I care nothing about having a camera or music play back on my DS, and use the GBA slot from time to time.

The Wii game announcements do nothing to make me regret ditching the system as I'm not into those series (punch out, S&P, trace memory) nor care about GC remakes with tacked on Wii controls since I don't replay games..

If the videos shown here are of any indication, it looks like they will use the WiiMote, be widescreen (if they weren't already) and possibly $30 @ launch (3800 yen). I'm sold.

I'm not as excited about the new DSi as some of the other announcements. It has some nice features, which I'll probably picking up eventually as an addition to my DS lite, but I'm more excited about some of the other game announcements for both the Wii and DS. Wasn't expected Mario/Zelda but got some pretty fine lookin' titles.

My count for the Wii montage was 31 games. You'd think most people would be able to find something in there interesting. Though to their credit, there were ZERO first person shooters.

Wait, wasn't The Conduit shown?

Lesse what Wii games I want now:

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes

Hey, you're right, I did fine one Wii game I'd want!

The Conduit and CoD5 are playable at the American Conference thats going on right now. The montage I was referring to was from the Japanese one, and there were no FPS present.

FPS suck on the Wii anyway. It's genre that needs top notch graphics, and I don't like the controls of aiming with the Wiimote, which I assume all Wii FPS will use from now on.

But anyway, I'm sick of Nintendo franchises and refuse to play any console games not in HD as they look like ass on my TV, so no amount of good Wii games are going to make me remotely think of buying a Wii again. But given I pretty much only like FPS and western RPGs these days, it's kind of moot anyway as the AAA games in those genres aren't going to the the Wii.

Thats funny, since I think that the Wii is the only way that a shooter is going to get legitimate controls this side of a mouse.

Dual stick is a horrible solution that is completely unplayable. The very worst Wii FPS is better than the best FPS that a dual stick control scheme will ever produce. That includes Red Steel.

Aiming to the side of the screen to move the camera slowly and feeling like you're locked down onto a single area to shoot is not what I'd call better than dual stick controls. Not by a long shot.

EDIT: Oh, pardon me, dual stick

Liking something thats inferior is completely legit, but any metric that you can come up with to measure speed and accuracy is going to favor the pointer.

I prefer the Wii style for single player games, but they need to be designed for the remote ground up.

Metroid Prime worked because most of the battles were in very linear corridors or strictcly defined spaces that funneled enemies to be in "front" of your vision mostly. I still loved Metroid Prime 3, but that was a specific design to fit the Remote's limitations with turning and pinpoint accuracy.

Something like Half Life 2 would be pretty tough to do with wii controls, dual stick are better for direct mouse/kb translations like that.

Remember that Wii Ware stuff I was screaming about a few GGTs ago?

Looks like they finally put up PR for it.

Cave Story + is coming to the Wii.

Same game with tons of bonus content. Pixel is working on it. ;)
I've never liked playing FPS on consoles in general.

Mouse & keyboard > aiming with your thumbs
This is going to sound crazy to most people, but I've played like 200 hours of TF2 on 360, and a few hours of it on PC, and I prefer playing it with a 360 controller, against other people with a 360 controller. I just wish the 360 one kept pace with PC with updates and players, though.

I admit my opinion would probably swap if the experience with either version was the other way around, I just hate swapping weapons and moving with the keyboard. The mouse is fine, but the keyboard just feels clunky, especially for smooth movements.

Oh, please. Anyone calling dual analog "completely unplayable" hasn't played a console FPS in a long, long time. Since the first Halo, that control scheme has been just fine. Not KB/M precise, but when the games are designed for dual analog, it's prefect.

Moral of the story? FPS works fine on all the consoles, they just have to be designed from day one for either the dual analog setup or the Wii Remote setup (as jer mentioned above).

MM: Any word on when Cave Story is going to hit Wii? I'm mega excited for that.

WAT CAVE STORY YEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I heart Cave Story with all my heart, because it's special to me.
Every FPS before the 360/PS3 sucked? Metroid Prime 3 didn't work beautifully on the "advanced" control settings? This is all news to me!
I wasn't really into FPS until this generation. My gamign tastes have changed a ton the past few yeras. The only FPS I played last gen where Halo 1 & 2 and Metroid Prime 1 & 2 (and those are more adventure). Plus I didn't have an HD TV back then. And by look the best, I mean look the best with current technology of course.

MP3 was ok on advanced. Just damned annoying to have to aim at the middle of the screen all the time to keep the view from spinning, and the aiming just wasn't as precise for me as with dual analogs. Guess I don't have steady hands, which isn't surprising as I'm generally stressed and on a lot of a caffeine! And the turning was way to slow, even on advanced.

By the way, I'm super pumped about Nintendo's press conference last night. People like pouty chacrana might whine about.. well, everything, but Sin and Punishment 2, Punch Out, Mario and Luigi 3, and the DSi shop were awesome to me.

As far as upcoming stuff goes, it's Micrasaft>Nintenda>>>Sany

I'll vouch for this being just pure experience. I never touched a PC FPS until about 4 years ago, and I couldn't stand the mouse/keyboard setup. I couldn't aim for crap, and everyone was just plain better than me. I rarely play Console FPS's now, and the mouse/keyboard setup is perfect. It's just a matter of what you're used to. Last console FPS I played was Resistance, which I truly enjoyed, but at many points I found myself thinking "This would be so much easier if it was on PC."

I'd agree. The mouse is great. But I fucking hate the keyboard part of the controls. One of the big reasons I never got into FPS on PC, despite trying to last year. I'm sure I could get better, but I don't have the patience as I hate gaming on my PC after sitting at one all day anyway. Much prefer to lounge on the couch and play on my 50" TV (I'd never put a PC set up in my living room, so hooking it up to the TV is out).

I mean honestly, I click the left or right bumper to cycle through my 4 or so weapons on TF2, and I know two clicks gets me this at anytime either way. Plus being able to adjust your movement speed in an analog fashion does not compare to the keyboard's four limited directions. Also, increased tactile feedback with rumble and the triggers. Playing sniper is much more fun on a controller, if less functional.

This is strange, b/c I'm the opposite. I always found aiming with the mouse so difficult, but the keyboard being great for everything else.

Quoted, for the truth it brings.

Let's just have some Stalker and Crysis on consoles and I'd never have to want a PC again.

Perhaps I'd hoped for more than 3 games over the next year?
