So...Crysis 2 is getting super positive reviews though most people here aren't so fond of it?

Could this be another case of..
Dead Space 2?

Fighting the aliens in Warhead when the island freezes over is still like the best FPS experience in recent years

I exaggerate but not really.

For me it's more of a case of
I disliked Crysis 1

Loved Dead Space 2 though, but it's definitely different from DS1 (more action-oriented and fast-paced), so I can see why some people might have been thrown off by it.

I didn't like Dead Space 2 because it wasn't scary and my roommate was acting like it was.

DS2 has some scary parts, but in general it has a lot more action than the first game.
GGT didn't like Dead Space 2?
Does the GGT actually like anything other than Bulletstorm?

Sonic

I probably just got that vibe from a couple people. I'm certain you guys haven't talked of a game as positively as Dead Rising 2 though. That was like 5 GGTs of straight game discussion.

No I think you were right. I remember being the only one that really liked it. Although I think Frosty might like it as well now that he's played it.
Dead Rising 2 is as dumb as Dead Rising 1.
Well seeing as I loved Dead Rising 1...I agree.

I hated it. I was so excited to play it too. One of the reasons I originally got a 360.

And then I did play it and was all "WTF is this shit?"

Dead Rising 1 is still one of my most favorite games on the 360. It was actually the first game I bought for the 360. Until that point I just played my dad's copy of Gears.

Nothing really impressed me about it. The characters were ugly and unlikeable, the gameplay wasn't very good, the three days thing was dumb as was the save system.

Just meh to me.
How old is your dad?
39, he is very much a bro at heart.

The characters are really ugly and all were unlikable except Frank to me. I love Frank West, he's probably one of my most favorite game characters that have come out this generation. Actually, he may be my favorite that has come out this gen... I can't actually think of too many games that have come out and had new characters in them that seem special to me.

Man, I'm thinking about playing my Master Lord ranked friend in MvC3 this weekend... but I'm kind of afraid that I'll get wayyyy too destroyed.
39, he is very much a bro at heart.
Dang, that seems young to me. No wonder he plays games. My dad is 20 years older than that. I don't think he even knows how to hold a controller.

I think I might like Chuck Better as a protagonist, but Frank more as a character. My favorite game character this gen is probably Morrigan from Dragon Age. Although Merrill is really growing on me in DA2 so far. Oh, and any character from Deadly Premonition as well. And Sander Cohen from Bioshock. Man, now that I think of it there are a lot of characters I really like this gen. Too many to list probably.

That is kind of true. I can't think of any character this gen I really liked. Maybe Nero from DMC4.

Then again, I do like the new 3 guys in Yakuza 4 :p

Actually I forgot to mention Jansen from Lost Odyssey. He's definitely pretty high up there for me. In fact the cast of Lost Odyssey is probably my favorite RPG cast ever.

And if you count handhelds, then there are a ton of characters from DS games that I love such as the Ace Attorney series, Professor Layton series, Ghost Trick, 999, etc.

I forgot to mention Edge Maverick from Star Ocean TLH

And also
Sonic
He seems like a new character every gen because he just keeps getting so much better.

I would also like to mention his human female companion. Such a strong emotional bond between them. I cried at the end.

I did as well.

I mean, they made it look like
Sonic
was
dead

Thankfully
beastiality
brought him back to
life
and he was able to save
the world
.

I'm the product of a young Southern marriage.

I like Frank a lot more than Chuck, mainly because he seemed so unrealistic and fuck YEAH! which I can't think of a ton of those kind of characters I had seen that were like that at the time. Chuck is much more a real character, he has real worries that you can identify with. I like Chuck, just not as much as Frank. I like a few characters this gen, but not a ton. Mainly they all boil down to ones I'll list below.

YES! NERO!

List of characters I've loved this gen (that I can think of):
Nero
Bayonetta
Frank West
Commander Shepard
Garrus
Wrex
Sander Cohen
John Marston
Baird
Starkiller
Isaac Clarke
Glados
Glados
Yeah, I totally don't know how I forgot that one. One of my favorite characters ever.
The chick (blonde) in DR was kinda hot.
The rest of the cast sucked.
But the game was awesome.
My favorite character was that one zombie in the mall.

That zombie was stupid. That other zombie was way better.

Ah, I see your point. I think you have convinced me.

Also, this guy from MGS4 was pretty cool:

He was a pretty great brand new character, but an even better brand new character is Mario from Super Smash Bros Brawl.

He should really get his own game.

He was a great brand new character, but I can't imagine him being popular enough to warrant his own game. I think we are in a niche group of fans when it comes to him. And I mean what kind of game would he be in anyway? I don't think he would be a good fit for any genre.

I remember when Halo came out and me and a bunch of friends had a 3 hour discussion over what color Master Chief's skin was.

We did something similar when Metroid Prime 2 came out, except it was what size Samus' boobs were. Man, that reminds me... Does anyone else remember that rumor from Metroid Prime 1 where supposedly if you got out of the ship/space station thing in less than 30 seconds (maybe less?) Samus would strip for you? My friends and I spent a whole night trying to do that.

I could see him using a hammer to do some things. Perhaps some mild platforming with a shoe.

what kind of the tiits does she have?
Think of it like this: Take FF13's combat, then add a way to control the CPU's movements directly, and an insanely large overworld. That's Final Fantasy XII in a nutshell.
Well I remember playing the dragon quest demo that had the game before release and loved the combat system. I'll hop on it as soon as I am somehow able to play it
