Ghostbusters - Gen. Discussion & Info

So my freakin save file is gone and now I can't beat the game. I'm not playing through all the crap again so i'm going to sell it. Just curious, for people who beat it, how far was i?
They just found out that the map thing was a layover of new york and the hudson river was marked next

When you first boot up the game is a bit weird...it will ask you for the save location and when you choose your HDD for instance and it finds previous data it asks if you want to override...you say yes and it takes you to your saved game. My guess is that you said no and it started a new save.

That's my guess too, but I've had it for a few days and knew about that stupid save spot. I'm so pissed. what a crappy save system. Oh well, the game wasn't very good anyways, so it isn't worth starting over

But would it still be on your hard drive? Have you looked in your HDD memory in the dashboard? It is confusing how it's worded, but I don't think it would just wipe out your save. The only time I've seen it do that is when you go into the game and select "new career". It tells you "this will overwrite all progress and saved data".

Yeah it's gone. I checked my HD and there's only 2 files (My install to the HD, and the new save file) so it overwrote my save file and replaced it with a brand new game save. This is why I like games with more than 1 save slot, I always save in a new slot every time I save, just in case something happens, i have a back up

Yeah, I hear ya. It seems like a lot of the autosave games are like that too. Sadly, Ghostbusters isn't the only game with that problem. It is the first I've seen that makes you choose to "overwrite" your file when selecting your storage device though. I don't know who thought that was a good idea.

Yeah, I know...how fucking weird is that?! The first time that happened, I was like, "Hmmm, so what do I do?" I'm sure there have been plenty of people that ended up choosing the other option and screwing up their save. Bad job by the developers on that one.

Well, I finished up the game. Yes, it's short, but I still think it's worth it for the GB fan. And let's it, that's who they were going for here. I'm sure they will gladly take anyone buying it, but the developers were clearly going all out on trying to release a third film under the guise of a game.

Here's one big beef from me. It might seem small to some, but to me, it's kind of disappointing, considering how great the rest of the experience was. They really messed up the beginning and the end. The opening title was not edited properly. The music is suppose to slowly start and....bam...GHOSTBUSTERS... the logo. This, they started with "If there's something strange...". Not right. And where the hell is the end credit montage? Come on! That was always one of the best parts of the movies.
So... is this a game to
wait for $10
or
get it at $30?

Im leaning toward $30 I loved the movies, (getting the first one on br from amazon) and it sounds pretty fun.
I think it depends on how big a fan of the movies you are, and how big of a deal game length is to you (I think I'm getting close to the end, and I've only put about 7-8 hours into it).

I paid nearly full price from GS (discount, plus free movie ticket and free T-shirt sealed the deal for me), and I'm perfectly happy with it. Then again, I'm also a huge Ghostbusters fan, and Ghostbusters was one of the cornerstones of my childhood. I love the game because it lets me do what I always wanted: makes me feel like I'm part of the Ghostbusters. Lip synching problems aside, the game's fun; combat's a bit wacky, and there are a few weird spikes in difficulty out of the blue, but the constant weapon additions/new ghosts make up for it. And catching ghosts feels EXACTLY like it should.

Long story made short, if you can wait for it to drop, get it then. If you're a huge Ghostbusters fan/just can't wait, get it now.

Is there any reason why I need to take pictures or whatever its called of the ghosts and pickup the artifacts? If there is a weapon cool, if its just for achievements I'll stop.

If it sells well, definitely, especially considering there is now going to be a third movie. As much as I liked this game, I'd love a free-roam game and have the opportunity to haul ass through the streets of New York in Ecto-1.
I like how it actually feels a little immersive when you try to get the ghosts in the trap.
Indeed.

You get money for the artifacts. I don't remember if you do for the ghost readings. The more money you get, the quicker you can get the upgrades, which definitely help.

What difficulty does everyone play on? I tried the hardest difficulty but it was borderline no fun so I turned it down to medium.

Does money really make a difference in the end though? I just don't like having to use that damn pke meter...

I've found that you can actually replay the missions; it will add the $$ total to your current score when you quit to continue from your most current point. I think I'll break from the pke meter if I can.

Good news...your save file is not gone.

Instead of choosing 'Continue Career', I went with the replay a level...went back to get an achievement...well before I started the mission I got a warning that all level progress would be lost and I accidentally agreed...I wasn't too far so I didn't mind too much.

So anyways, I got my achievement and I wondered if I had to play from the beginning to obtain the upgrades that I had already purchased, if I choose the 'Replay Mission' option on where I had left off, so I booted up the mission at the exact checkpoint that I previously ended and not only did I find all my upgrades available but all the cash I accumulated from replaying the first level had been added and the campaign continues from there...so check the "replay mission" option, I'm sure you'll be able to pick up right where you had left off.

THIS! I've always thought the TV show Supernatural would be a great premise for a game with this kind of structure as well. Basically, I'd want it to be like GTA, but instead of having missions where you kill someone, have missions where you exorcise demons, or track shapeshifters. I'd be all over a game like that. A sandbox game dealing with the supernatural. How is that not a goldmine?

hey guys, what store has the 30 dollar trade in for select games? i can't find it in the thread and have been searching..

Sadly that option isn't there. Just "New Career"

Let me just say it again...I really like this game. And the MP isn't the piece of shit I expected. I love it. One thing, though...REVIVE YOUR TEAM. Wow...

Just beat it. Thought it was a lot of fun, though a little frustrating during the last level or two.

Still haven't tried MP, don't know if I will anytime soon. I have some backlog work to do.

anyone else have problem redeming the code for the movie ticket from gamestop? I entered both the code and receipt info asked for then lo and behold there site quit working. I tried again about 10 minuets later and wham my code was no longer good. just lost my ticket(planed on using for hary potter in couple weeks) due to there website having a problem at the exatct moment i submitted seams strange to me

I just picked this up for 2 bucks after I traded in three games I no longer play... haha..

so it should be worth that at least.
I think it's way overrated.
?

It's been given an average score and and average reviews and has been constantly nitpicked and critiqued and compared to the original movies....

How is it overrated in anyway?

....

By the way I love this game, and the multiplayer is 100x's of fun, especially ranked matches with friends.

Just started playing, finished to the appearance of Stay-Puft... really cool game... perfect? not at all, but pretty great if you are a fan of the movies.

I just started this game last night and it's great fan service for people like me so far. I love wandering around the Ghostbusters' house and looking at everything and really liked the first few levels.

Multiplayer looks like it should be a lot of fun, so I'm hoping to jump into that later this week.

I cannot get past these damn candle stick monsters in the hotel. They keep ganging up on me and killing me. It gets to be so crazy that i can't even see or move.

That part pissed me off to. It adds insult to injury that you have to listen to the Ghostbusters song over and over again while its loading.

What? That's the best part of the game! fuck, I love that song.

Anyway, to get past those annoying bastards, simply go very slowly forward, so you only trigger the nearest candles. That's what I did, after getting killed about 5 times in a row, and it worked like a charm. Good luck, my fellow paranormal enthusiasts.

It's great the first two dozen times. Once you hear it for the 25th time it's too much.

So, more people are finally getting the point behind some of the MP modes. These are some pointers I hope everyone takes to heart:

- for the Protection rounds, when you get to protecting the last unit, you need to pick up the stasis rounds! Using the stasis stream to slow down the golem is key. And so is keeping it away from the unit. Distract it the best you can. Shoot at it and keep moving away. If it gets the unit, it is just going to knock it down 0%, and then you're screwed.

- in Containment, stop fucking up people's tether attempts later in the round. When you have a bunch of stronger ghosts out at once, the only way to catch them all and keep the thing going is for people to tether them to the trap for the quick catch.

- on Survival, just revive your teammates. I really don't know what else to say. If you're the last guy, haul your ass away from the action and see if you can stumble upon a fallen teammate. Or, at the very least, keep moving until someone else pops up.

No matter how slowly i go, it always seems to trigger at least 3-4 of them. After the first one you find, i step back out into the main hall and a group comes running down the hall at me.

I hate those little fuckers, they were kicking my ass. Then I blasted all the ones on the walls before triggering that part & beat it right away.

Though I'm not sure if that did it or it was practice/patience but it did seem like there were a few less of them to deal with.

I can't believe how aggravating this game is. Reminds me of some old 8 bit games in how ridiculous it can be. The boss type battles are easier than the ones where a dozen little shit enemies gang up on you.

I've probably done the office building 10 times already and i still can't beat these little flaming marshmallow enemies.

Anyone run into a glitch at the start of the Staypuft battle? Right before the battle begins my sound cuts out completely and then after the battle the game won't advance to the next level. Anyone else have this problem or should I exchange the disc at TRU?

Just started, I have a few questions:

Does it get way more frustrating in the later levels with respect to getting knocked down by stuff off-screen? I'm playing on the medium difficulty and I got knocked down a whole bunch in the hotel lobby level. And it seems to be happening again in the battle right outside the opera house.

If someone doesn't mind clearing up the controls for me: After a ghost has been weakened, I use LT to "slam" the ghost, but you have to hit both triggers at the same time and pull in the opposite direction the ghost is moving to slam them right? If so, what do the different "Slam" levels signify?

Finally, what exactly is the capture beam for (LB in default controls)? I feel like it plays a bigger part in gameplay, but I think I've only used it once.

On the highest difficulty, you will get knocked down a lot on the later levels. Get use to that loading screen.

The more that slam bar fills up, the more fight the ghost has left in it. When it's completely gone, it's easier to catch them in the trap.

The capture stream automatically switches over when you are trying to catch a ghost. So, you've used it a lot already. The left bumper manual activation is for when you when you want to do something like pull away a shield. Also, in the MP, the capture stream does not automatically switch over, so LB comes into play there, as well.

Just finished the game and while I certainly enjoyed it, I have to admit I was let down by the ending levels. Just a lot of frustration and difficulty elements that, while not really spoiling the whole thing, did prove to be a letdown. The game has some terrific production values, a good story, all the original cast and music -- and it's worth playing if you're a fan of the movies -- but the game play itself was really erratic, veering from fun to frustrating. It's been a while since I've played a game that nearly forced me to throw the controller and give up, but this one qualified at times.

In the multiplayer how do you determine what "job" your're doing? Is that referring to the proton stream you start with or use most during the match? Also, I noticed that I unlocked a new uniform how do I change/use/view that? Thanks.

I believe you can find out what the job is in the lobby. Survival, Destruction, etc., I am pretty sure those are the jobs.
