MrX, Pune is a pretty safe place. If you are going to be working for a tech company I assume they are taking care of all the arrangements so I won't go into too much detail. If you need to choose a hotel yourself, try to stay in the western areas of the city.
Language shouldn't be a problem. Most people speak at least a bit of English, and the people you're working with will of course speak English fluently.
Bombay (Mumbai) is a 2 or 3 hour drive away, and there is a freeway between the two cities so it's pretty easy to get there by bus or limo if you want to visit. The bus costs only $2 or something.
Like in any urban area in the world, try to stay away from the poorer areas like the slums unless you know what you're doing. Obviously most poor people won't try to mug you but if you're not used to places like that, it's probably not a good idea.
Food won't be a problem either. If you like traveling there's plenty to see and do, but it sounds like you won't have time.
They actually sell 360's in India, so maybe you'll meet someone who has one...or maybe not. Anyway it's not worth the hassle to take yours with you for just a month.
