Golgo 13's No Pantsu Anime & Manga Thread
yep, pretty much. i don't really think a full 30 mins of that calibur of high-speed nonsense is actually humanly possible, to tell you the truth.

oh, feel free to prove me wrong.
This stuff is starting to remind me of Shin-Chan and Excel Saga. I wish I had more time to watch them. The complete randomness of it is handled pretty well.

I found I had some free time yesterday so finished up Spice and Wolf and read most of BioMeat.

Spice and Wolf is a great anime if you are also interested in anything economically related. It is a fantasy story but rather then magic and swords it is about trading and medieval economies. The first story arc uses fricking currency devaluation to introduce the main villians. This may be the first fictional tv show I've ever seen to do that. I really hope there is a second season.

Biomeat is a horror manga I found while browsing a manga hosting site I'm not sure I can link to. I didn't like the art style at first glance but the summary reminded me of those pigslugs (or whatever) from the Dune series. I picked a random chapter and started reading and it turned out to be a very good survival horror type story.
The basic idea is that man is having a hard time finding food and getting rid of their trash, so science comes up with a bio-engineered animal that survives by eating trash, and is then killed to feed humanity. You can guess what may happen if a self-replicating, endlessly hungry killing machine got loose in Tokyo.
I had forgotten how nice it can be to have a whole day off with nothing to do but watch animes.

I'm 6 episodes into Higurashi (When They Cry) and i'm confused. Is the series just the same 5 main characters with different stories that reset at the end of the chapter or is there some kind of 'alternate dimension' storyline.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Mox.
Would anyone mind recommending some really good comedy animes? I've heard good stuff about Lucky Star. Any more?
Azumanga Daioh - nice good clean, fun, weird, and cute humor. It's girly, but the humor can be enjoyed by more than just girls.

Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi - Mostly perverted adolescent, popculutre reference, and weird type humor. It's like flcl, except for some reason I didn't hate it. (I'm not at all an flcl fan, just too abstract for its own good imo.)

Shin Chan - Extremely trashy at times, but devilishly funny in a lot of messed up ways. Think of it as Anime's South Park.

Super Milk Chan - This is probably the best example of love it or hate it. It's got really weird and cute japanese humor to it that people either love or hate. If you don't like it after watching 2 eps, don't watch it.

Overall though, Azu is your best bet.

RANMA 1/2!!!! - Hilarious show, and now they have seasons at a more affordable prices.

Miami Guns - I cannot stress just how awesome this show is. It is funny as hell and each volume is $5 at Rightstuf. IMO is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. Even a cameo by a hollywood star! It is a damn shame more people haven't seen this.

Strawberry Eggs - Has some really funny moments, but also some very dramatic moments and WTF moments. I suggest reading up on it to see if it is for you.

Here is Greenwood - Funny show, one of my favorites. Slice of life comedy.

Goldenboy - Totally innapropriate and totally hilarious. If an anime could have inspired the "Something About Mary" and "American Pie" mode of movie making, this is it.

Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi - Loved it. A gorgeous show to watch and the characters are cool and get into some hilarious stuff.

Well chapter 403 of Naruto was pretty .......... I don't know. Revelation of what Itachi said to Naruto in that forest shows he was thinking pretty far ahead which I liked, but the other stuff
Stuffing power down Naruto's throat?! Naruto can train at an advanced pace learning jutsu incredibly fast yet he still needs a power up like this? And am I going crazy or did Kishimoto completely skip Naturo finding out Jiraiya died?

This. Of course, I'm also partial to Lucky Star. In addition, I also like Pani Poni Dash & Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan (don't watch unless you like gore & blood fountains  )

chances are he gave him some genjutsu skills either a way to resist the sharingan or maybe a way to do genjutsu himself ( since that seems to be one area hes sorely lacking). man they really need to get more into itachis story whats hes been going through all this time and could it be that he got his special sharingan killing his friend on orders for konoha? they always made it seem like he inteltionally did it just for power but maybe he did it because he tried to tell his friend what he was up to and his friend being pro uchia was going to turn him in and he killed him to keep him quite.

They need to make it focus on god damn Naruto. After all, it's not named after Sasuke. So far it seems like a whole volume has been dedicated to him. Don't get me wrong, it's great to have slightly extended background on some characters, but this is just too much. I think the writer is running out of ideas.

Latest chapter was awesome... just awesome... Not just a flashback, but a flashback within a flashback.

That was my thought about genjutsu, Naruto can kinda fudge his way around the others but that is still his major weakness, odds are Itachi did give him some way to combat this. As for that guy Itachi murdered, I think maybe he really did kill him for the power of the mangekyo sharingan, even Itachi couldn't have taken on the entire clan without it and i'm sure by that point he was also eliminating people that could have stopped him from doing his mission. So he kills his friend, get six months to pratice with the mangekyo and then does what he has to do.

I don't even know what to say anymore, I liked the Uchiha background story but Naruto as a character is starting to suffer as a result, I can't remember the last time he did something cool. He is just becoming a whiny little bitch, Sasuke this, Sasuke that! God forbid he worry about Akatsuki coming to gut him or
His sensei being killed
I get that Sasuke is Kishimoto's favorite character but Naruto is going to need a string of badass moments after this arc to make up for all this crap.

I'm still expecting to see Sasuke in a Akatsuki uniform eventually. It would fit pretty well with Madara trying to manipulate him.

you and option are right naurto needs to be the focus again.
and fuckin a how can a magical create take that damn long to deliver a message to someone? naruto is last time i chekced connected to this whole frog world dealy shouldnt they be able to quickly tell him hey your god father is dead btw heres a book that will tell you about your mom and dad have fun connecting to your roots.

naruto is pretty mch coming off like a whiny kid who needs to admit his forbidden love and get over it.

and now it seems like sasuke isnt going to destroy knonoha but with his power i think hes gonna make a play for the hokage and probably oblitherate the root altogether. the most powerful ninja tend to rule and with his power theres nobody who could stand against him especially with the people he has backing him.

question can guy sensei do genjutsu or ninjutsu? or is he limited like lee?

also i think sooner or later naruto willl fight pain. considering his odd clone technique it only seems right and of course him killing jiraya and all.

theres a ton of loose ends in this series that have been left wide open.

Didn't Akatsuki members need to be replaced as they died or disappeared? They made such a big deal about those rings , Sasuke joining up would fit in with that.

You're right about the frog, since Naruto is the last living person with the frog contract that should have been a five minute trip. I was really expecting him to be interrupted during the Madara skirmish with the news Jiraiya bought it and he is the last of the frog summoners. I also agree about Pain, seems like they were made to fight each other, Naruto just needs to get his wind jutsu rolling , get a few long range attacks and maybe show him summon a frog here and there. As for Guy, he is a physical attack specialist, although he has never bothered doing anything else yes he can use chakra.

As for Sasuke's plans, I don't know where this is going, even Orochumaru paid dearly for directly attacking Konoha, why Sasuke feels he can take on an entire village of ninja with just his current crew i'm not sure. Even Tsunade said there were now plenty of eligible candidates for hokage, so there has to be some pretty badass ninja floating around, my thinking is still why doesn't Sasuke just kill the only three people responsible for the Uchiha massacre? He is doing too much work.

he probably will kill those responsible or he could do something worse which is expose the truth behind the uchia massacre to everyone. if he attacked directly hed just be an enemy but if everyone know the truth itd definelty make it easier for him to come into power or to at least destabilize the power structure. add to that the fact that theres still animosity of sorts between danzo and root w/ the new hokage and things could get bad pretty quick.

and if he did attack head on alot of the other countires would help them considering all that naurto has done for so many especially gaara and his crew.

By the way, anyone here read Gantz manga? It's one of the only mangas I'm actually anxious for every release. It's extremely graphic and the aliens just look sinister. The story is very adult oriented of course, and overall it's just an awesome gritty sci-fi comic.

As for Naruto, I agree he needs to buff up. I just don't know how that is going to be possible unless there is some sort of sudden time jump... Naruto, 60 years old, yeahhhhhhh...

He sure as hell isn't a genius, and even Sasuke can trump his nine tails fox demon. I just don't know.
I'm sure whatever Itachi gave Naruto is going to make or break their eventual meet up. By the way, this was a new addition to the plot, correct? I can't keep track of which is new and old information. The author is just in love with flashbacks, especially for adding in parts not previously shown, as of late.

Yeah I read Gantz , I laughed pretty hard when that guy said screw it and left them to fend for themselves last issue. As for Naruto
Yes this is a new addition to the plot, we did not know what Itachi told Naruto in the forest until now, and that garbage about Itachi crying is definitely new, which I find hilarious, that flashback was shown some five million times yet Sasuke never once remembered gee big brother was crying? Weak

Latest issue of Claymore was pretty good, seeing Raki again made up for how weird the story is getting, of course
I am 100 percent positive he will turn out to be evil incarnate

I watched the anime, which was good, and was at the Anime Expo 2007 panel when Dark Horse announced they would be the ones behind the English manga.

Dark Horse is my favorite manga publisher, though I don't like Berserk.

*flees*

Gantz Phase 1 was really good, this new Osaka Phase is losing my interest. I'll probably end up buying the manga just because i'd love to show my support for such a good series, and to FINALLY be able to read it without being on my computer. Now only if Dark Horse would license Elfen Lied i'd be in heaven.

For those who saw the Gantz anime and based on that, refused to read the manga, the anime is a lot slower and that terrible last game & ending had nothing to do with the manga storyline.

i'm watching blood+ and it's ok so far. but i get to the part where
saya comes back after a year and saves kai and bald guy from the monsters... and kai is amazingly relaxed. and then when they're at the farm or whatever he's trying to make small talk about eggs and shit..any normal person would be like, WTF WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN FOR THE PAST YEARR??? :hot:

Blood+ was pretty boring even after the time skip. I think it would have been much better if condensed into about half as many episodes.

I liked Saya's apparent ability to make every girl she met fall in love with her. Nope, no fanservice here, it's just a power she has to draw in viewers... err I mean that's never spoken of.

I watched Blood+ a couple years back, and don't particularly like the series. I just didn't connect with any of the characters, and thought the premise was a little goofy.

I watched Blood+ as it was coming out, bored me to tears. Gave up somewhere in the 20's . I agree with Cletus, go from 50 to 25 eps and get to the point and maybe I would have managed to stick with it.

I dug Pretty Face. It's not something you'd want your friends to find on the coffee table, but an enjoyable read nonetheless.

Volume one was very good. One thing I find about gender bending anime/manga is that it can make for interesting storytelling. Whether it is comedic or dramatic in nature I enjoy the different perspectives that the protagonists have in those types of anime/manga. I'll definitely be getting the rest of Pretty Face.

The only thing I own that I wouldn't leave on my coffee table is Eiken. I got it just to see how absurd it was. The again, I have ATHF and the godawful Dickesode. The only reason I kept that is because I got it as a gift.

I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to anime/manga.

Also, Guile, if you get to really liking the series, know:

#1

"The manga series has a rather abrupt ending, finishing with fifty-two chapters and one extra chapter. It was intended to run longer, but was canceled for unknown reasons. The last chapter featured additional information and alternate endings, as well as some original storyboard art."

That sucks. I hate when series are rushed or canceled before it can end properly. I feel the same thing happened with the Paradise Kiss anime, which felt really rushed at the end.

Thanks for the heads up. As long as there is some kind of ending, even if it is abrupt, it's will be better than nothing. It can't be worse than the Inuyasha anime ending.

Ral Bout High School anime seemed rushed at its end as well.
I feel the same thing happened with the Paradise Kiss anime, which felt really rushed at the end.
Yes, yes it was. The manga offered up a much more satisfying and conclusive ending. But at least the ParaKiss anime actually had an ending. His & Her Circumstances didn't even try to go that far near the end of the anime. :bomb: That really pisses me off because, despite my general aversion to shoujo-ish anime/manga, I genuinely dug the story set out by H&HC.

I recently finished Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei. Has anyone else seen it or read it? It's really clever, and surprisingly pretty funny. I guess a second season of it aired not that long ago, but I haven't seen it yet.

I hate to say it but the Sasuke story doesn't make a lick of damn sense.

If Itachi knew Sasuke might try to destroy Konoha, why did he proceed to give him all his powers anyway?

Why is Sasuke teaming up with the man who helped murder his clan? Tobi genuinely wanted to murder the Uchihas, yet he wants revenge against against the village?

I don't think the arc will end well satisfactorily or more importantly, logically.

wow so i saw Blood: The Last Vampire for the first time... that was amazing. "SWORD!!!" ... :hot::applause:

i've seen a few movies that have the visual style similar to Blood, like Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, Ninja Scroll, and I think Perfect Blue. the characters look more "Western" and there's a lot of detail and shading, shadowing, everything looks and moves very fluidly and realistically. and the action is very nice usually.

what are some similar titles to these?

Best I got is he was simply making up for all the times he told him hey i'll train you later hey i'll train you later. Itachi didn't know for sure anyway, he just was covering his ass both ways, Sasuke goes back to village quietly filled with power.............. or Naruto drags Sasuke back a bloody mess.
This one got me too! Itachi was following orders, Madara though did it of his own free will yet Sasuke is cool with that?! This better end with a backstabbing and a long winded speech

to answer your first question
he gave him the power in hopes he would do good with it, he then gave naruto the power to stop sasuke if he abuses the power he was given

the second question is because Sasuke is an idiot

Oh and BTW Pretty Face is a very guilty pleasure. Emphasis on the guilty. Must've been like the eighth harem manga I've ever read and hopefully last. At least I stopped on a relatively high note.

OMG GUYZ lets DO TOP 5/10s!

1) Azumanga Daioh
2) Haibane Renmei
3) My-Hime
4) Samurai 7
5) Kaleido Star
6) Paradise Kiss
7) Gun Sword
8) Vandread
9) His and Hers (with a good ending it would have been #3)
10) Kamichu!

Honorable Mention: Dai Guard (best opening Theme EVER EVER EVER), FMP Fumoffu, FMA

Well, it's only supposed to be a 'side project' of sorts as there's supposed to be 5 videos but all of them are music videos (not AMVs) kinda like the 'Animatrix' for the Matrix movies but w/ music videos. But there IS a Gurren Lagann movie coming out. :bouncy:

Argh, Japan is getting the FMA movie on Blu-Ray, but the catch is in order to get it, you have to buy the $600 'ultimate collection'...

I like FMA, but $600 for R2 dvds (and 1 blu-ray) all with no subs is a bit too much for me.
