Goozex has a New update you can now trade your UMD,DVD,HDDVD,Blu-ray
Already sending out 3 blu-rays after putting a bunch in the system this afternoon. Looks like i need to buy more tokens now...
i am thinking of buying 120 tokens for 60

First movie going out tomorrow for 200 points. I think that is really the threshold for movies, at around $3.50 to ship the things, 100 points is barely worth it.

I hit my ques early and loaded up my haves/wants right away. I'm sending out full metal jacket blue & I've allready had 3 requests accepted, goozex is sweet!

Shipping & Scam Clarification:

WhiskyBR: I just shipped out Nightmare on Elm St. 2-disc DVD complete (6oz) for $2.27 1st Class including Delivery Confirmation. You're either using the Goozex shipping which adds a fee, or paying too much at the Post Office. Use Paypal shipping instead. Here's the Goozex thread with the link to the back door to Paypal Shipping.

I'm matched for 6 DVDs (none are "just movies" except the Boondock Saints Steelbook), there's a serious case of "I need more points!" going around Goozex right now, and it's hard to sell more games to get points for DVDs when everyone is restricted. Now's the time for those with tons of unused points to reap the harvest.

As for the scamtalk: I was thinking about what a queue scam could be before reading follow-up posts, and no one mentioned the most diabolical one:

queue-jumping: Using fake accounts, not to request the game, but to OFFER the game. If the scam-scum is 5th in line, and he sets up 4 fake accounts to OFFER the game, that will take #1-4 out of the line for a few days, jumping them to #1 in line for the next legitimate offer. If Goozex still does the double-timout, you're looking at 52 hours of jump time. Worst part is, the scammer doesn't need any points to buy-in, since any zero can offer any game and time-out without penalty...

Same here.

I think I've gotten more movies on here in the last two days than I've gotten games in the last six months.

I don't think I've read the biggest scam I think that could take place by creating multiple accounts. It goes along with building up the feedback score. Correct me if I am wrong, but when a new user starts trading they can not have more than one or two outgoing discs at any one time, right? Once you have a certain number of successful trades behind your belt, you can trade an unlimited amount of games. So if you create a few fake accounts you can "trade" obscure 100 point games in order to get your rating up and then list a bunch of highly wanted 1000 point games. Since you get your points right away, you can then use them on other games and never send out the games that were listed.

I have to imagine that this method throws up some extreme red flags at Goozex HQ as they would just need to monitor the frequency and point count of new members who are sending out and receiving games that no one else wants.

...and on topic: My wife is going to kill me soon. Last month I was obsessed with going to Big Lots for cheap dvds and now I am using all my extra points to pick up dvds from goozex. We are already out of shelf space!

Also, I have a standard def tv and usually just get standard def, but I usually also only get tv shows or kids shows/movies for my son.

I have a stack of kids DVDs that they don't watch anymore. Elmo, Veggie Tales, Wonder Pets. They all seem to be worth 100 points. I'll list them. Maybe somebody wants them.

What's cool about Goozex is that it's free to list, unlike ebay, and you don't have to keep re-listing them, like Craigslist.

Yep the convenience is my favorite thing about Goozex.

I just don't have the time, patience or motivation to deal with selling things on eBay or Craigslist with any regularity, so I stick with Goozex even if I could possibly get more value selling it.

If you want to get rid of them all at once how much would you want for them?

I've listed a bunch of random DVDs I couldn't trade at my local Bookstore/Media store, so I hope I can rid some of them. I also jumped in and got #1-#3 spot in the que for various Case Closed season boxsets. Hope someone lists those, 350 points would be great for those.

Any ideas why "Role Models" is still not listed in their database, I searched for every version by name and even UPC# with no luck.

Have you tried searching through the UPC..as sometimes their search engine is a bit wonky and particular.

They also don't have the Bourne Trilogy on Blu listed. I didn't expect them to have the movies listed individually, but I thought they would at least have the set.
My thinking was, I'd grab the two Bourne movies from Blockbuster and trade them at Goozex, but they don't even have the set listed.

I second the recommendation to use the UPC. It's much faster and more efficient.

I just did this because I'm running out way too quickly. I wish I had jumped on the Goozex bandwagon earlier so I could have a higher trader rep, since I'm top of a ton of queues but out of spaces. I'm still in the process of my requests and offers lists, so hopefully I'll finish that up when I'm home from work later. I'm also down to just 800 points, and I really wish I had bought some when they were 50% off a couple weeks ago.
Aside from a few weird pricepoints (200 points for the entire Friday the 13th Crystal Lake box set???, no one in their right mind would give that up so cheap) it looks great.
I've actually got that Crystal Lake box set coming my way. I love goozex :applause:

How much is 800 points on there worth?

If it's a good deal, then I may sign up to get rid of my Matrix HD-DVD set.

Well, it would be somewhere around $40 according to this.

Seems more worth it to trade it in than sell it.

I also wanna list Mad Men Season 2 on Blu, but its non-existent to them. However Season 2 DVD is there.

Ha same here, except I have the max number of slots in 20 available and it's been hard not maxing it.

I have like 19 movies being shipped out to me as we speak. Although it has slowed down in the last day.
^ wtf?
That was for all the talk of ways to try and scam the Goozex system. Little ridiculous.

No. Just stop.

Where? Did miss something?
That was for all the talk of ways to try and scam the Goozex system. Little ridiculous.
Huh?

That was talk pondering whether the ways to possibly scam it were serious enough to warrant making it tough on people who live with roommates etc. who game and would like own accounts. Not promoting scamming.

Have to say I've never heard of Goozex (well, I take that back, I think I've seen various people try to refferal link me, but I ignore those...), but I have a hell of a lot of old DVDs I don't want anymore.

I filled two orders instantly, and didn't realize til today that the initial "queue" list is only two! Granted, this makes sense so you can't scam people with new accounts...but people are jumping my queue positions because I'm full. :(

Seems like a pretty cool site though. I've given up trying to offload anywhere else. FYE was my default stop, but their TIVs have been decimated; 10 cents per movie now? Uh..no thanks.

Not too sure I'm ever going to be able to get in on any "rare" games though. Looked at Suikoden II and it just doesn't seem like that train's moving very fast...

Kind of sad they don't have SNES games, but I digress, this is about movies. Wonder if it is worth it trying to find Big Lots! fodder...

I am liking DVDs on Goozex-- if anyone remembers that Best Buy deal where you bought three Blu-Ray boxsets and got a 50 dollar giftcard, I had done that. First set went to my dad, and one to me. Third one I was going to try to sell... took forever. Listed the three blu-rays indivudually on Goozex and sold it instantly. 350 points a piece, a total of 1050 (52.50 worth of points) I was pretty pleased I got rid of them.

Also put in a few cheap 100-150 point orders on some HDDVDs that got fulfilled. Finally will get to see Casino-- sweet. So far, though, my crappy 100 point movies aren't moving, and there's a lot of stuff that isn't listed+1-5 people ahead of me. D'oh...

Maybe this is a noob question, but I created an account a while ago, and have 100 points and 3 trade tokens, can I buy a game or movie that's worth 100 points and just get it for free?

so to order something it costs a token and the points.
you get tokens by buying them.
trading a game only nets you points.
no way to earn tokens.

that the jist of it?

You can get 1 token for a referral, but to get any real usage out of the site you'll need to buy them.

Yep, just basically think of the cost of the site this way:

$1 to request a game. About $3 to ship a game/DVD first class in a bubble mailer from paypal shipping (USPS first class, and including cost of a mailer bought in bulk).

So you're looking at $3-4 per game/movie you get (less depending on how you maximize points--i.e. trade high value games/movies and request low point ones gets more bang for your buck). i.e trade in a 1000 point game and get ten 100 point games/movies and you drive the cost down since you only shipped out one item to get those points.

I always heard of this goozex but always brushed it off. I finally caved in to see whats all the fuss is about....damn this site is the best trade site, excellent system.

Finally got a chance to deal with the movie queue.

Listed 20 some DVDs--mostly old stuff that's 100-200 points that I ether haven't watched for ages or want to upgrade to blu ray. I doubt I'll be able to move some of them, but can at least try for a while and if not I'll just donate them to the library or something after a few months.

Requested 15 or so movies--mostly things I want to upgrade to blu ray.

I have some more I'll list later--but don't want to part with until they're out on Blu Ray in the US: Alien Quadrilogy, Pulp Fiction, Seven, Fight Club, Indiana Jones Trilogy, Star Wars, LOTR extended version trilogy etc.

Also ordered a box of 100 #2 bubble mailers from ebay (for less than I paid for a box of 25 smaller sized ones at Staples a few months ago, so I should be set pretty much for good factoring in re-using mailers I receive when I can open them with out tearing them up.
If anyone has received some movies, what kind of condition were they in when you got them?
No movies yet, but all the games I've gotten over the past year (probably around 15) have been in mostly near mint condition. Worse was one that had the case covered in Gamestop pre-owned stickers.

So I've been very pleased, I'm also not that picky. Though I'm a bit more picky with movies since I do collect them, where as games are just to be beaten and flipped back on Goozex.

So as with any online trading site, it is blind luck and if you're uber picky about having stuff in mint condition it may not be worth it. But I've had good luck with getting games in very good condition from Goozex, and I'd expect to have similar luck with movies.

i can't wait to start getting feedback i listed a megaton, but since i have no feedback credit yet i have to wait for it. However once this ball starts getting rolling i'll be damn happy.

Im gonna sign up...anyone want a free referral from me? First person to reply to this post please PM me and I'll sign up under your name.

Also, can anyone reccommend a good postage scale? I'd like to weigh my items and print postage out through Paypal. I assume I can do that even if the person did pay through paypal, right?

i got 4 box sets coming hopefully early this week

Dinosaurs - The Complete First and Second Seasons (4-Disc Box Set) 200 pts... Got to love me im the baby LOL anyone remember that

King of the Hill - Season 4
The King of Queens - Season 1 (3-DVD Set)

matched waiting for them to accept

hunter the complete first season 150
Roseanne - The Complete First Season 150

I thought Goozex was great before but now it's even better. I have bought very few games since I signed up since I can get them essentially for free. Now I can spend less on blu-rays too. I already have the Ocean's 11 boxset, Harry Potter: OotP, Get Smart, Hitman, Incubus: Alive at Red Rocks, and Wanted on the way. I wish they had the Bourne trilogy and A Bug's Life available to request though.
