boy o boy, i cant wait to see finntroll again, i got to see them in england in 2005, they put on a great live show.
 
Well, I am ready to buy tickets to Heaven and Hell this Sunday but I just found out there is some sort of pre-sale going on through Nokia Phones. I need a password to get involved with this pre-sale.

This sucks because I bet all the good seat will be taken by Sunday.

The promotion is going through something called Nokia Ticket Rush- I don't have a cell phone so I can participate in this. It sucks.

Man I really wish Cynic would just perform in the States already. Word on the net is that their performances in Europe have been awesome. For those of you who haven't heard of Cynic, go pick up a copy of Focus. I don't care what kind of metal, or what kind of music you're into, this album is just so fucking awesome for anybody that loves music period.

That would be such a great song title. Question: Are there any anti-Islam or anti-Jewish etc. bands out there? I know there are many that are anti-everything, but it seems Christianity gets the bum rap. Perhaps black metal bands aren't tough enough to go on long anti-Islamic diatribes, or, God forbid, anti-Jewish ones. I am just wondering as both a Christian and a fan of all things metal. And rereading the above, I am in no way saying that I support any such lyrics, I am just wondering if specific cases exist.
 
I'm sure there are anti-Israel bands in the middle east.

In Europe, there are some bands that played metal, but otherwise fell into the RAC/Oi! genre due to their flagrant anti-zionist lyrics. I know more of the Oi!-style bands (Skrewdriver, Bound for Glory, etc.), but I also know that bands in that genre also did metal. Being in the UK, they were more anti-Jew and middle-eastern (though combined in the slur 'paki') than they were anti-christian or anti-black.

An indirect answer, yes, but somewhat of an answer.

National Socialist black metal is pretty much white power/anti jew BM. Probably quite a few anti-Islam lyrics in there too.

As mentioned up above, NSBM, but the vast majority of the genre is crap musically. Nokturnal Mortum and Grand Belial's Key are probably two of the best nsbm bands. There's also Melechesh to an extent, their album "As Jerusalem Burns" caused quite an uproar back when they were still located in Israel. But the current stuff is more about Mesopotamia and has more historical lyrics.
 
The Lost Tracks of Danzig has one of the cooler packaging setups I've seen in a while. You certainly notice it on the shelves, at least.

As hokey as Glenn can be as far as taking himself too seriously, it's a pretty good collection. There are some...well...several clunkers, but that's what you'd expect with a "best of the rest" collection. The good tracks made it worth it for me.

I know a couple of the songs.....When Death Had No Name and 777. Those aren't bad. What I want to know is how many of these are the Danzig/Christ/Von/Biscuits (all real names :)) era?

Side note: John Christ's sister lived across the street from my mom for maybe a year or two. He supposedly stopped by there once, and my brother saw him, but I did not. They were pretty cool, although I never talked to them much. JC is still one of my favorite rhythm / lead complete package guitarists. I wish he was still in a band.
 
What are the original members of Danzig doing right now? I was listening to "Soul on Fire" on the way home, and forgot how amazing Chuck Biscuits is (and with such a minimal kit, too!).

Why did they all split? I don't know if it was the band members playing, or Rick Rubin's production skills (I could go on and on about how everything he touches turns to gold), but Danzig 1-4 were as amazing as 5-6 were bullshit, and 7-8 were mediocre.

I agree. I have very fond memories of this band, and have found subsequent Danzig releases meh.....the most they make me want to do is listen to albums 1-4....and I don't think it's because I'm getting old.

Thats funny...I only have the first three. I didn't know the fourth one was any good. I will have to look into this.

All I know of them is i bought a tape in the 90's I hardly ever listened to, and the drummer (?) is/was in Down.....one of the stellar semi-supergoups of metal time.
 
I recommend "In the Name of Suffering," at the very least. Maybe "Preaching the End-Time Message" as well. All their albums are very good ('cept maybe "10 Years of Abuse"), but some ("Dopesick") are forgettable.

I usually hear Dopesick called their best. It's actually what I'm listening to right now.
 
To each their own. Really, I could deal with "Depress" and "Serving Time in the Middle of Nowhere," and would have little need for any other songs in their catalog. They're good, but those two stick out for me. Neither are on Dopesick.

No tracks really stand out for me, I just enjoy their body of work. Not my favorite sludge band, but they're a damn fine listen.

Have you heard their tribute album? There's these two tracks on there by a group called the Unholy 3. All I can find out is that Hank Williams III is possibly in it, and both covers are done in acoustic outlaw country. They're also, IMO, better than all of Eyehategod's other stuff. Especially "Torn Between Suicide and Breakfast".

It's actually a pretty awesome double album, there are a lot of great bands on it.

Impetigo dvd is coming out soon! As for the anti-islam and anti-jewish bands, there are some Thrash bands in the States that have anti-islam lyrics, and of course the NSBM bands of Scandinavia, such as Burzum and Absurd.

There's a difference between bands with NS members (like Burzum), and bands that actually put their NS philosophy into their music (like Satanic Warmaster).

If you want a band that's just anti-everything (that's not white, of course), try Vaginal Jesus (led by Anal Cunt's Seth Putnam) or any RAC band. Bear in mind, these bands are terribly (lyrically and musically), but hey, they got the whole anti-jew thing down.

EDIT: Also, Iced Earth bore the shit out of me. The only song I can stand is Birth of the Wicked. Beyond that, it's just not even worth keeping.

That's true, but they're both nazi scum none the less. As for Seth Putnam, I wish he stayed in that coma. And I agree with you about Iced Earth, they can be pretty dull. While I disagree with their personal philosophies, and try and stay away from bands that preach in their music, both Burzum and Satanic Warmaster (and a bunch of other so called "NSBM" bands) produce some damn good black metal.

Seth Putnam is a dyke, but Anal Cunt can be good fun, and Impaled Northern Moonforest was hilarious for about 5 minutes.

Oh, and Mykevermin, The Unholy 3 is JUST Hank Williams III doing a solo acoustic rendition of two Eyehategod songs. Hearing his takes makes me want to check out his own material.

I lose. So, is that new Trouble album ever coming out in the US? I have listened to it, but I want to do the boys a solid and buy the freaking thing. I am mostly sad because I live in the town they came from, and they played a small-ass bar not far from me a little bit ago, but I forgot. Wtf. The only time I saw them live was.....uh.....1995 or 1996.....at "Riley's Rock House", previously known as "Malo's", today known as a Mexican restaurant. Man, that show killed. They demoed some Plastic Green Head songs, and I got Barry Stern's (R.I.P.) stick....via my brother, I think.

:drool: I don't know that you'd like his country and western stuff, if one exception being the 42-minute track on disc 2 of "Straight to Hell." Weird ambient noises complete with an eerie cover of his grandpappy's "I Could Never Be Ashamed of You." He sounds so much like Hank Sr. it's uncanny.

I think his three C&W albums are excellent, but I don't know that you would agree.

If Assjack ever records something, you *may* like that. It's a very "Antiseen" style.

I just picked up the new Nile at Rasputins, Berkeley for $10.99 (Sale price).

I guess that makes me a cheapassmetalhead. I can't wait till I get home and crank it out. I haven't heard any the tracks yet

Nile just signed a contract with Nuclear Blast Records and they put out a brand new album. Their old record label, Relapse, just released a compilation of older Nile songs (I guess they are trying to milk the Nile namebrand).

I hope that clears things up...
