Grammy nominated King Diamond screams "Metal Heads Unite!!"
Here is something new. I've been ordering from Amazon.com for years and never had a problem...until today.

Last week I ordered "The Lost Tracks of Danzig" and the package appeared today. When I opened up the box, there was the DVD set of the Gilmour Girls Complete 5th Season.

I'm assuming that Rita Larsen in Troutberg, Oregon is in for a shock when she opens up her box and gets my Danzig cds.
Hahahaha classic.

Post what you think of it when you get it. I don't know if you've heard it already or not, but Lost Tracks was pretty crappy as far as I'm concerned. There are a few good tracks but the fact that he went back and overdubbed older stuff with his current "I'm old and can't sing like I used to" voice really hurts a few of the songs.

Great mix-up, though.
This man speaks Truth.
I mean come on he was a roadie for Slayer, he was in Dark Angel, Death, Testament, Strapping Young Lad, and now Dethklok. I'm glad Brendan Small knows his metal, all he needs now is Steve DiGiorgio if he wants some technical bass lines in Dethklok.

I will give a full review when I get this album. I have no idea when I will get this album though. Amazon will have to resend another copy to me when I send back the Gilmour Girls DVD.

I just got back from Dying Fetus/Skeletonwitch.. Definitely up there as one of the best shows I've seen this year. Year of Desolation replaced Damaericus, or however the hell you spell their name, on the tour.. and I'm very thankful for that.

God, I've stepped away from metal for too long. Didn't know that Carcass has reunited. I need to read blabbermouth more. Used to check it a couple of times a day. Just like I used to spend 75% of my time online here...

I've still yet to watch that video of Danzig and Shakira. I still remember when Danzig got his ass laid out by this guy from another band a couple of years ago I believe

Keep the DVD set, and just buy the song "Cat People" from iTunes.

Metal's been boring me for a while now. Crust and grind, that's where it's at.
Metal's been boring me for a while now. Crust and grind, that's where it's at.
I go thru phases really. As sad as it may sound, once a month I usually end up checking the reviews on blabbermouth. I don't really read them per se, but see if there are any bands that I've yet heard of that may peak my interest and then check them out if I can find them.

I did buy the new Soilwork the day it came out. Along with the new Iced Earth and Ihsahn's solo CD The Adversary. Whats really strange is that I got them all at Best Buy. I say strange because I was just browsing thru after getting the first two, I glanced down and saw that there was a spot for Ihsahn and that there was a case in it. Took a look and lo and behold, bingo! Had been wanting to pick it up for a while and found it in of all the fricken places, Best Buy...

Blabbermouth is the shit, nothing sad about that.

I still haven't listened to the new Iced Earth.. They're like my favorite band, ever, but I've heard mixed reviews.

Well I meant that that is about the only time I've much bothered with metal for the past several months. And the new Iced Earth is really damn good. Unlike The Great Burden, Owens's voice a hell of a lot better match now. As that one was written more with Barlow in mind before he decided to he wanted to go work for the "Fatherland Department"...opps, I mean Homeland Security...

Gene Hoglan is going to be interviewed on tonights AOTS on G4. Eh I hate television especially G4, but oh well.

A few weeks ago...I started to get all this spam from some record company called 12th street records. As it turns out, they got my email from Blabbermouth.

Moral of the story....If you post something on Blabbermouth, don't give them your real email address.

Well I finally got the Danzig CDs today (Remember the Gilmour Girls incident from last week?). I heard the first disc and its pretty good. Its a bit raw but I'm enjoying it.

I also picked up Electric Wizard's Witchcraft Today album. I haven't listened to it yet though. Maybe tommorrow.

I've never posted.. So I guess that's one less complaint I'll have. :p

american metal overall sucks nowadays. u got lamb of god and killswitch engage. all the good stuff is foreign (children of the bodom). theres too much death metal out nowadays. the only death i listen to really is cannibal corpse because there music is amazing. there bassist is one of the best. my favorite band though is slayer.

Yet another person who knows jack shit and shoots his mouth off like he's an authority. Lamb of God and Killswitch Engage aren't even really metal, they're metalcore, and crappy at that (we agree on that point). Children of Bodom is weak though too, and there are much better metal bands, foreign and otherwise. Yea there's a lot of death metal out now, but there's also a recent resurgence in crossover (thank you Municipal Waste), and black metal has been a constant since the early 90's.

I'd say I listen to an even mix of European and American metal bands.. I dunno, I'm just not one to really criticize music. My tastes vary way too much to be opening my mouth. I went through my phases, too.. I was really in to Killswitch Engage a few years ago, the pre-new guy albums. I like HORSE and a bunch of mainstream junk like that just as much as I like obscure and off the wall shit.

There's plenty of embarrassing stuff in my last.fm profile..
Y (thank you Municipal Waste).
I have never heard Municipal Waste but someone told me they are a mash-up of DRI and Nuclear Assault - Two bands that I love. I've been meaning to check them out for a long time.

There's nothing wrong with HORSE the band, they fucking rule. And yea, I went through those phases too. I didn't shoot my mouth off though claiming my miniscule knowledge as fact.

Well here is something totally unexpected.....

King Diamond just got nominated for a Grammy

Edit: Changed Topic header

That's surprising. Hope he wins, even though the grammys don't mean shit...for metal atleast.

Don't waste your time. They get old really quick. I can't stand them now.

Has anyone listened to Diamond Head's To Heaven From Hell? I love the guitar playing on that.

Muncipal Waste is great live though, two words...boogey boards and beer. As for Diamond Head...they're still around?

Live I bet they are good but man I can't even pop in their cds anymore, totally boring for me. Their appeal was "hey thrash is back!" but then after a while you realize it should have been left alone.

As for DH I have no idea (think there was supposed to be a new cd out in 07) but the one I mentioned I picked up for like 4 bucks. It came out in 1997 but with DH I'm not sure whether those were recorded and/or released before 1997.
Rigor Mortis is fucking awesome.
You lucky S.O.B...So what was the setlist for the Rigor Mortis show? How were Bruce's vocals?

Also...
Nuclear Assault (New York) has been confirmed to appear at MDF VI.

I can't say I was a fan before seeing them tonight, so all I know is that the last song they played was Re-animator. The vocalist only did maybe half the songs, the others were either instrumental or the bassist formerly known as Beefcake the Mighty was doing them.. Phil Anselmo actually did two of the songs, which was really killer.

Awesome, you're lucky you got to see them. Beefcake is an original member of Rigor Mortis, his name is Casey Orr he joined Gwar after Rigor Mortis split. Anyway, it's great to see these old Thrash bands get back together like Rotting Corpse, Gammacide, and Sacred Reich.

Damn, I had no idea.. He was flexing his arms and shit, so I was like "Yeah, that's definitely a Beefcake move.." I guess I was wrong, it's just his move.

The guitarist has got to be the fastest player I have ever seen live, he's like the King of Solos. My mind was blown.. Of course, I've never seen any speed/power metal bands.

I really thought seeing Phil Anselmo/Mike Williams/Hank Williams Jr. III would make the show for me, but Rigor Mortis stole it.

I never liked Anselmo (guy ripped off Kyle Thomas and Exhorder). Still that does sound like quite the show. Here's some footage of Rigor Mortis 1988

Oh yeah, I didn't mention that I caught his guitar pick.. Off the rafters and into my face. That's 3 picks this year.. Darkest Hour, Daath and Rigor Mortis.

Haha that's awesome. The only thing I've ever gotten from a band was Guy from The Red Chord's half empty water bottle. Him and Mike really liked my Death shirt haha, and the AC was broken at the venue. Mike even dedicated Send the Death Storm to me, "this next song is for the guy in the Death t-shirt". Here's a video from that show...

Ok, so I was into Old Man's Child in the mid-late 90's (Born of the Flickering / The Pagan Prosperity / Ill-Natured Spiritual Invasion) but never got into Dimmu even though Galder went over there in 2001...now that I'm making more money I can blow it on frivolous stuff like blind-buying CDs.

Where do I start with Dimmu albums? Give me their two or three best...whether it's pre-Galder or not is irrelevant, that was just something that sort of interested me in the first place.

Is anyone into No Mercy, the side project of Mike Muir before Suicidal's Join the Army? I've been listening to a couple songs from it and I like it a lot.

I heard a few on their myspace page, and it's fantastic 80's thrash. I'll have to listen to DRI in the car tonight to satisfy my need for that stuff.

In the meantime:

Man, I just can't listen to so called "brutal" death or shit anymore. Shit is just irritating.

In slightly related to metal news, Genghis Tron's new album leaked, and it's fucking phenominal.

I have only heard a few Old Mans Child songs and from what I heard so far it sounds very good with very hard hitting riffs. Im still on the hunt to listen to a full album from them but I have other artist on my list. As for Dimmu, I pretty much like all of their albums. But I perfer listening to their new material more often. IMHO, their old material is best heard using headphones as I would call their old stuff headphones music. I would recommend at least "Spiritual Black Dimensions" or "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia" or even "Godless Savage Garden".
King Diamond's "Welcome Home" should be in Rock Band
Agreed. Also, I would kill a man for King Diam...uh, I mean Mercyful Fate's "Egypt."

I had Puritanical in my Amazon gold box so I picked that up, got it today, so far so good. I've seen good stuff about Spiritual so I'll probably grab that next since I wanted to get one that was a bit older (pre-2000). Also, I always enjoy album titles that look like they were run through a random evil word generator.

Oh, and if you're looking to pick up some OMC stuff, try The Pagan Prosperity and Ill-Natured Spiritual Invasion. The latter is pretty fucking amazing considering it's just Gene Hoglan on drums and Galder doing everything else.

Yeah No Mercy is some good shit. I'm glad he copied that style for S.T. When they tried to go back to "punk" in the mid 90s the band just fell apart like a bad burrito. It's not too good.

DRI is also great. I think I have one of their discs laying around somewhere. I'm sad to say the only music I listen to, whether it be thrash/hardcore etc, is all from the 80s:cry: . I need some new music.

Man who knew Bert and Ernie could be so brutal.

Shit, I'd kill two men for some downloadable tracks from Don't Break the Oath. That album is a classic.

Anyway, in metal news, Death's Symbolic album will be re-issued by Roadrunner in April. Also, Control Denied's The Fragile Art Of Existence will also be re-issued in April. Finally, B.C. Rich will release a Chuck Schuldiner tribute Stealth model guitar with a portion of the profits going to Chuck's family.

I'm going to disagree; after Suicidal for Life and the one before that (Art of Rebellion?), Freedumb was a fantastic shot in the arm. It wasn't s/t good, or Join the Army good, but it was decent late 90's style punk rock with a rather pretentious bass player (nothing new in the Suicidal world).

The fact that they never followed up on Freedumb is a disappointment - OTOH, the 7 Seconds stuff that came out at the same time almost washed away sour memories of "Soulforce Revolution." But let me not go too far, or else suffer chiding by the metalheads for not talking about metal.
