Grand Theft Auto IV - Gen. Discussion & Info
If you are talking about how picture one and picture two look the same:

I think that might just be the difference between the PS3 and 360 versions. I remember that in the EGM interview, Rockstar said the color palettes are different.
Possibly. I was just looking at screen shot comparison for alot of games between 360 and ps3.

PS3 was more blurry, washed out colors, but better lights and darks.
360 was sharper, better depth, just better looking. But some of the dark areas were too dark.

That seemed pretty consistant with all games.

But as for the screen shots, i notice some names appear above the circle and some on the side. I would assume these are fake because they wouldnt have names flip up or on the side of the dots during gameplay. And they wouldnt have some on top and some on the side during the same game.

Well, as far as we know, you could be right
Plus wouldnt there be a circle with name for the helicopter?
They have cops in the multiplayer

The chopper COULD be A.I. police.
I think that the names are mocked up just to represent how they MIGHT be in the final product. Who knows though. They might have some multiplayer video tonight. That's what most people are hoping for. If they do ... odds are they'll take the player nametags out.

To coincide with the release of GTA IV, Rockstar will be launching a brand new website called the Rockstar Social Club. Registration for the club opens up on April 15th (mmm, tax day here in the US..), and it will apparently feature all kinds of multiplayer leader boards and stat tracking.

On top of the standard multiplayer ranking stuff, a press release sent out by Rockstar lists the following features.
 • LCPD Police Blotter - A virtual map and tracker of single-player criminal activity logged in Liberty City from the aggregated data of millions of connected players - showing the most dangerous areas of town, most commonly used weapons and more.
 • The Story Gang - This special single-player leaderboard recognizes players who complete Niko Bellic's main story arc of Grand Theft Auto IV - The leaderboard ranks players according to the total amount of playing time it's taken to complete the story, as well as a historical rank by who has completed it first. Members of this club will receive special online widgets and merit badges marking all of their in-game accomplishments.
 • The 100% Club - Watch to see who will be the first to complete 100% of the game. The first ten people to be identified on the Social Club as reaching 100% will be sent an ultra-rare commemorative 'key to the city' to mark their accomplishment. In the future, the 100% Club will then carry a historical leaderboard showing rankings of who has completed 100% of a game in the shortest span of playing hours.
 • The Hall of Fame -- This area will dynamically recognize those singularly elite players who have reached the top of the hill on various statistical leaderboards, and will also contain a personal awards display of special in-game landmarks and successes in Social Club competitions.
 • The Liberty City Marathon -- A ranking of special physical milestones achieved in the game - from the amount of miles walked, driven, or swam - to the number of bullets fired and stunt-jumps jumped. There will be additional special marathon-based competitions in the future from this area as well.

A page from Bungie's book. I love it!

Not bad, wasnt multiplayer...never understood where that rumor came from. But i still think the 1st trailer was the best. #4 was good but not great....i just want the damn game now.

It was what I expected it to be. Their still sticking to their guns about revealing almost NOTHING till release. lol. I actually support that idea though.

The bank heist looks pretty cool. I still like the video of Niko's cousin best.

Watched the trailer three times before I realized that Manny Escuela says "You know sometimes you gotta break some omelettes to make some eggs, you know what I'm sayin?" Pretty small point, I know, but I got a chuckle out of it. :)

Can't wait for this game, but is anyone else worried that the multiplayer will have lag issues? I have faith in Rockstar but a game like this almost begs for lag
That GTAIV/Amazon feature is incredible, though I don't suspect I'll use it much, if at all.
Agreed on both points. Guess it depends on how good the tracklists are. Vice City had me grabbing the manual to look up a few artists.

Burnout Paradise doesn't have any problems and it's pretty much the same open-world seamless streaming.

Yeah but Burnout doesn't have stuff blowing up, bullets gallore, helicopters, etc...

So what store/website has the best pre-order incentive? (free stuff as bonus for pre-order) Not looking for the cheapest neccessarily, but the one with the most extra crap. Also, not the CE. Too high for me.

Are those multi-player pics real? The discussion about the names has be questioning it too. NYC 1 and NYC 2 names switch avatars from pic one to pic two. Thats not a graphical difference from 360 to PS3. The avatars would still be the same person in both versions. What am I missing?

If you preorder online, I think you basically get nothing but the player port pack.
But from what I hear, if you preorder at an actual retail store (B&M where you go pick the game up, etc), you get entered to win one of the several prizes they have lined up. Some kind of card that comes with the preorder... blah blah blah. So anywhere you walk in works.

As for the multiplayer... like I said I think the names are mocked up, but the gameplay is real enough. In the other thread there's scans of the OXM multiplayer preview and it has the same photos published.

Has there been news on if they fixed the save system? That was my main complaint with the other games (and not being able to retry a mission without accepting it again).

I want to believe this, but it's just a bunch of screens slapped together that were posted on Gamespot's boards. And we all know Gamespot.

I got them from a gamertag that has seemed to been changed when I brought it up.

Uh... yeah. lol
We'll see when 29 rolls around.
