I've received a couple pm's from people wanting to contribute prices but don't want to get harassed about selling to someone or getting more at place x. If this is the case for anyone, you can pm me any values and I'll update them in the list and database.

Also, the CAG Trade-In Value Tracker is now live and accessible from the main navigation.
Instructions on finding games in the database and inputting the values from different sections can be found in my blog post here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=14143. I would put the entire post in the thread but this is already kind of a large post.

FAQ
These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Here are the previous GS TIV Threads: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value:
$0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
Playstation 2: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller (Must be a DualShock2)
GameCube: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above. They will not, however, take RROD 360 consoles. There may be stores that still do it, but official policy is to not take them in.

How much does an EDGE card subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an EDGE card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game and an extra 10% off the purchase of used games.

Does the EDGE Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your EDGE card.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

What states charge sales tax on purchases paid in full with credit and which ones don't?
Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah,
Does Not Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming
No Information Yet: Connecticut, Idaho, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota, West Virginia

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

First post contains promo information and the FAQ. Second post has the 360/Wii/PS3 values. Third post has the PS2/GC values. Fourth post has DS/PSP/GBA values.

He did us all a favor with a substantial contribution to the database. I don't think he needs you to evaluate what those used games were worth to him.

Just traded in these two:

Wii: Mario Strikers Charged - 9.00 / 14.40 with promo/edge
Wii: Godfather Blackhand Edition - 4.75 / 7.61 with promo/edge

22.01 total.
I'll take a clean apartment and some bonus credit than a box of useless stuff that I'm not playing.
That's how I am anymore. If I'm not playing it, then it needs to go away before it has ZERO value left anywhere. I was like many on here for a while, trying to make a 'collection' and if you don't have the systems anymore to enjoy and play the collection, what's the point really?

Why can't Gamestop carry the individual rechargeable batteries for 360??

I went to 3 Gamestops and none had them. So I sold in my 2 rechargeables and have none for myself. I really didn't want to dig into cash to buy new rechargeables..

Edit- Yea that guy ended up averaging $3 on a lot of those games, games that are pretty worthless and not too sought after. I think he did pretty good, if you saw his final total you'd probably know that. A bunch of crappy games gone, that was good.

I used to want to sell things before they lost value but I won't trade to Gamestop unless there's a good promo, because you usually don't get that good of value. I want to start to build a decent collection soo when one of these rolls around I can make a good amount of credit.

Agreed, its not like he was trading games that fetch $40 on ebay for only $1 at GS. He got rid of stuff he didn't want, for a lot less inconvience. Thats his buisness.

Yeap, same boat I'm in. I'd love to have a big collection with a group of retro consoles, but it's just not realistic given the way my place is.

And my fiance would kill me if I had a bunch of old games everywhere

I really loved this promo. Helped me get Heavy Rain and MAG for free and I still have a $60 gift card on reserve for an upcoming game.

Ah, love that new thread smell...

Base values as of today, 3/14/10

:360: NBA Live 2007 -- $0.85
:360: COD Modern Warefare 2 -- $26.75

I'm happy now knowing that all three $55 games I bought back during the Thanksgiving-time B2G1F, I've traded back for more than the ~$35 average price I paid for them. That's the REAL "gamestop glitch!"

Thanks JP!

Hmm, this is kind of off-topic but I'll ask it anyways. What does "Tag" mean and what happens when you do it/how do you do it? I always see people come in and saying they tagged it but never knew what it meant. Haha sorry for the idiotic question.

Pretty much when you respond to a thread it will put it in your subscriptions. It's actually not necessary to post in a thread to do that, you can just use the thread tools option at the top of a thread to subscribe to it.

UGHHHHH Crap. I just realized all my local GS closes at 6PM on Sundy, WTF is this shit. And here I was hoping to trade in my 360 before the $30 HW Bonus expires(today).

Can someone who works in GS could tell me if that bonus might get extended or I'm pretty much fucked? I called in one store and they say it does expire today but I'm hoping it extends or a better HW deal arise by tomorrow.

I only got $ 33.00 total for MW2 for 360 (- base of $ 22.00). Where are you guys where you're getting $ 26.75 as a base? I'm in MA btw.

I'm kinda in the same boat. I asked a GS employee and he said he wouldn't be surprised if we see it pop up again. Apparently it's not that uncommon.

Tell me about it, I think it will just go back to the normal $20 HW bonus like before or no HW bonus at all. Damn it, I wanted to trade in the 360 with bonus before the TIV goes down.

I also came across this problem recently. It turns out that MS is the culprit not GS. They discontinued the individual rechargeable batteries completely at all retailers. My theory is they did it so that people are forced to buy play and charge kits when they need new batteries.

Pretty sure those twitter quotes are WITH the 50% bonus, as in you probably were mistaken for $37.50 (from the base $25+12.50)

Just a couple today.

PSP 2000 System - $65
GTA: Vice City Stories (PSP) - $5

Also I figured I would share my experience today at gamestop. I went in to preorder a DSi XL and I had some trades to make the hit on my wallet a little smaller. I had my previously mentioned PSP 2000 and I also had my DSi. I asked if I would get two $30 bonuses or only one. At first the employee couldn't answer my question and then when he tried entering it into the "POS" system, he told me I would only get one $30 bonus. After I argued a bit, I finally agreed to only take one but then we had another problem. He told me I couldn't put the the trade in credit and the bonus toward a preorder. So after i thought it out, I told him I would only trade in the psp and put the $90 towards a regular DS lite and that I would return it tomorrow. He looked wary but he did it. So tomorrow I will take this DS lite back and get all the money credited back to my edge card. Yes, I manipulated the corporate giant :)

God of War - $3.20
Need for Speed Underground 2 - $ 3.20
Halo 3 - $8
Dead Rising - $6.40
Devil May Cry 4 - $8.80
Assassin's Creed - $8

Ok, I don't go to Gamestop much, and maybe my memory is jacked up... On Friday I went to a Burnsville MN store and they said 33 (low thirties is all I remember). The following day I brought my game into the Apple Valley MN store as it was closer. They gave me the higher price...

Are you serious? They discontinued them??

I thought that Gamestop wasn't carrying the individual batteries for the reason you said, so they can just sell play and charge kits, but Microsoft's move?

Wow, that's bullshit. I spent SOOO much fucking time and money today looking to buy individual batteries (at stores other than Gamestop). I was very disappointed to see that nowhere had them but places had 'Play N Charge Kits'. After contemplating on buying the Play N Charge I decided not to.

I also HATE the Play N Charge Kits. I've had my Quick charge kit with 2 batteries ever since I bought the XBOX and that's all I need. Why would I now pay $20 for a Play N Charge when I don't need that stupid thing just a battery. That makes me pissed I can't believe it, what a ridiculous move!

Now I'll have to buy the Play N charge kits and just sell in the charger right there.

They do still have the pink and blue ones on Amazon..

Where are you? I only got $ 22.00 for a base value ($ 33.00 total).

For the pink batteries the $5.35+3.99 shipping is the best price, it comes out to $9.35. I guess prime can get you free 2-day delivery. Either way thanks for the suggestions but I'm going to have to do what I originally said I'll buy Play N Charge kits and just trade them back.

You don't need the battery when trading the Play N Charge right?

I also got $26.75 for MW2 today, I didn't think that needed to be confirmed. When did you trade yours Gfresh because the TIV just became higher in the last couple of days.

MW2 for 360 - $26.75 after bonuses - $42.81
Rechargeable battery packs (2) - $3.00 each after edge bonus - $3.30 each

I had no idea what I'd buy with the credit but when the guy mentioned signing up for edge I thought that makes sense I'll get some more money and I don't need all the credit. I probably should have got the edge card for before when I sold L4D2, Madden, and Tekken. It would've about paid for itself already crap.
Pretty sure those twitter quotes are WITH the 50% bonus, as in you probably were mistaken for $37.50 (from the base $25+12.50)
BC2 was at $27 for at least a day starting on Friday. I received $43.20 (base $27) for my copy. I'm not surprised that it went back down.

I traded mine in today. It has to vary by store - like the more copies they have, the lower the price becomes for a certain game, and vice versa.

Actually no. GS trade-in prices are pretty much universal except for this one state where they are off by like 50 cents.

I'd say that sounds to be 100% correct.

Last thing about batteries, I guess Duracell will be getting my money. Thanks a lot idiotic move by Microsoft!!

It's really not worth it to me to to spend $40 worth of credit on 2 batteries when the cable doesn't trade in for much. So I guess we both lose, what a stupid move.

Sonofabitch. I just checked the used price for Robot Alchemic Drive:ps2: and it's dropped to $5.99 used there. Oh well. I guess it's going up on the TL since I'm not about to take .50 for it.

I'm a bit shocked to see the TIV for Red Faction: Guerrilla went UP to $5.75, but the TIV for Little Big Planet went down to $5. I guess the local shops will be getting the bulk of my trades till I get a few more titles in and GS runs this kinda promo again.

What the most likely culprit is that store didn't get the price updates downloaded correctly. It is known to happen every so often. The mall store in Evansville, IN went through about a 2-3 month period where it was a miracle if they actually got the downloads. Their internet was always screwed up.
