I've received a couple pm's from people wanting to contribute prices but don't want to get harassed about selling to someone or getting more at place x. If this is the case for anyone, you can pm me any values and I'll update them in the list and database.
Instructions on finding games in the database and inputting the values from different sections can be found in my blog post here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=14143. I would put the entire post in the thread but this is already kind of a large post.

FAQ
These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Here are the previous GS TIV Threads: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value:
$0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
Playstation 2: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller (Must be a DualShock2)
GameCube: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above. They will not, however, take RROD 360 consoles. There may be stores that still do it, but official policy is to not take them in.

How much does an EDGE card subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an EDGE card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game and an extra 10% off the purchase of used games.

Does the EDGE Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your EDGE card.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

What states charge sales tax on purchases paid in full with credit and which ones don't?
Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah,
Does Not Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming
No Information Yet: Connecticut, Idaho, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota, West Virginia

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

First post contains promo information and the FAQ. Second post has the 360/Wii/PS3 values. Third post has the PS2/GC values. Fourth post has DS/PSP/GBA values.

Ahhhh fuck. It appears that GOW 3 already DID drop to $25. Guess I can stop worrying about what to pad the trade-in with to get to six games for the 40% bonus, since I'm not about to lose $5-8 on the trade($37-$40 as opposed to $45).

I guess it's time to put it up on the trade list and see what kinda 'I'll give you $30 shipped for it' offers I get.

North Carolina charges tax when paying with store credit. Caught me off guard when I went back home last week since I live in Texas now, who doesn't charge tax when paying with store credit.

Wii
Bakugan $9.25
Big Brain Academy $8
Boom Blox Bash Party $8
Dirt 2 $7
Game Party 2 $5.50
Guitar Hero World Tour $7.25
So would I be able to trade in about 25 games at once (all different) and get the extra 40% credit on all of them?
I think after a certain point (12 comes to mind, though I may be wrong) the computer stops giving out the promo correctly. I'd split them into groups of 8-9 just to make sure.

Edit: Hmm... as to the above poster I've never noticed that but it can't hurt. I traded in about 15 at once last week with proper bonuses on all of them but who knows. It's always better to play it safe.

You can trade in 25 at once without issue. Buddy of mine traded in about 42 all at once last week.

The 12 limit was when they were doing the trade 2/4 get $10/20 bonus, or whatever the specific extra values were. It glitched out at 12 for some reason.

Definitely never hurts to split up though.

Also, u might wanna just get an Edge card for that extra 10% if you don't already have one. Really helps out on those higher priced TIV's. :bouncy:

Does anyone have an idea as to why the PS3 version of Eternal Sonata is trading in so much higher than the 360 version?
Does anyone have an idea as to why the PS3 version of Eternal Sonata is trading in so much higher than the 360 version?
It is because the PS3 version is newer than the 360 version.

Just got back from Gamestop, and I traded all the games that I purchased from EAStore, from using that Pax $20 off coupon+$15 off glitch recycle coupon, where I paid $40 Shipped for 18 games.....I turned that into $175 so Im happy
Does anyone have an idea as to why the PS3 version of Eternal Sonata is trading in so much higher than the 360 version?
Most likely less supply of the PS3 version and the fact it never got as low in price as the 360 version did.

Went to trade in some of my filler from the Blockbuster sale, and dump off the evil that is Matt Hazard.

PS3
Valkyria Chronicles - 5.00
CoD 4 - 7.00
Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway - 4.50
AC/DC Rockband Track Pack - 3.25
Ninja Gaiden Sigma - 5.25

and I didnt notice this until afterwards when I was looking at the reciept in the car, but the guy gave me credit for Modern Warfare 2 instead of Matt Hazard. So, 36.00 in credit after promo instead of the 5 dollars or so I would've gotten for Hazard. Total was 73 and change after promo, and cancelled 3 preorders so I put 103.00 dollars down on a Big Boss PSP pack.

whaaaaaaat... I could have SWORN the TIV for (PS3) Eternal Sonata was $20 last night. Did I just dream that?

What is this coupon you mention from Pax and glitch recycle and I've never heard of the EAstore before.
What is this coupon you mention from Pax and glitch recycle and I've never heard of the EAstore before.
EAstore refers to eastore.com, the online store for EA Games.

the PAX code was a code made available during PAXEAST (Penny Arcade Expo). It gave $20 off anything $40 and over (actually $39.90) at EAStore.com.

The Recycle Bank code was a code that you purchased once you had enough Recycle Bank points that gave you $15 off any 360 or PS3 game at EAstore.com.

Basically, if you had a recycle bank code, you could use it in combination with the PAX code and get a lot of games, really cheap. There were a couple of different glitches/exploits being used to maximize (sodomize?) the offer, but it's all rather moot; the PAX code no longer works and Recyclebank doesn't offer any EA codes any longer.

I didn't realize that RB took away the EA codes, but it makes sense considering how it was used to abuse the EA store. I had enough points left for one more code, but I never redeemed it. I used my first code to get Burnout Paradise, and I was going to use the 2nd one to get Battlefield: BC or Saboteur. Oh well. Not a big deal...
can i trade in a modded xbox 360 or will i get in trouble?
Well the seal is probably broken, so, they wont take it.

@JP

I can confirm no Tax on purchases used with Credit in Wyoming & Montana.

Montana has no sales tax period and I have purchased stuff from MT with credit. I am from Wyoming so I would know that too ;)
the seal is not broken so am i ok?
They will test it. If it plays games and it isn't visibly damaged they should take it but no guarantees. I wouldn't do it personally, but I also wouldn't have modded my system. I'm assuming it is banned from Live, that being why you are getting rid of it.

Thanks for the info, updated first post.

With the detective work of a GameStop employee the refurb fees for the consoles have been pegged down and the refurb fees on the games. The games refurb fee ranges shouldn't change, the console fees could change with TIV changes. Definitely post so we can keep an eye on these things too.

thats why they can't take some games. in situations like that, they do not accept the game.

I can confirm that Vermont does not (or did not as of last fall) charge tax on purchases made with a gift card. It's one of those things I've never understood since buying the gift card isn't charged tax either so you could just avoid the sales tax entirely if you wanted to...

Destroy All Humans Path of Furon - $11
GTA IV - $7
Need For Speed Undercover - $9

They all can charge them. As usual, it is YMMV if they actually do. Nearly all of my trades above were disc-only and I didn't get hit with any fees.

Since we're on the subject of used console trade-ins because of the bonus, I was wondering specifically which seal GS checks when trading in a 360. I purchased a GS refurbushed one last year, and while the seal in the back is alright (barcode and date), I just checked for the seal underneath the faceplate and it's missing! Will they still take it and give the normal trade-in value (the console isn't broken)? I'm concerned because last year I traded in a broken refurbished system and one of the things the guy did was check under the faceplate.

edit: I just noticed a green "gamestop refurbished" sticker on the back that's also still intact. Will they still check under the faceplate?

Got these base TIVs tonight (4/14). Seem to be all the same as previously posted.

Wii Dead Rising CTYD $10
Wii Dirt 2 $8.75
Wii Big Brain Academy Wii Degree $8
Wii Super Hero Squad $8.75
PSP Dissidia FF $8
PSP Marvel UA2 $7.75
DS Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (No Case/Manual) $14

Surprisingly enough didn't get hit with a refurb fee on the KH.

As for trading in the 360's, is it pretty much guaranteed that are they always going to remove the faceplate and check for the warrranty seal or can you luck out and have them skip checking it as long as it works?

From 4/14

Wii
Cabela's Trophy Bucks $4.75
Okami $5.75

Stayed the same for Wii
Bakugan
Guitar Hero World Tour
MLB Power Pros 2008
Transformers RotF

Got charged 2 refurb fees on GHWT and Bakugan. Don't think it was warranted, and didn't feel like hauling them back with me. Picked up the Devil Summoner 2 Collector's Edition with the Raiho Plush. The clerk said he had been eyeing it since it dropped to $20. That made up for the $6 in refurb fees, knowing that he wouldn't be able to buy it because I got it.

Base for 4/14/10

:360:MX vs ATV: Untammed - $7
:360:Burnout Paradise - $6
:360:Pure - $4
:360:Halo Wars - $6
:360:Saints Row 2 - $7
:wii:Marvel Super Hero Squad - $8.75

Funny thing about the tax stuff, OP. I bought my Splinter Cell from GS with credit, wasnt charged tax. Returned the game today for 64.xx. So I made an extra 4 bucks in credit.
