Guess the Game from the Screenshot
Dammit, I know Dogpatch's game. You used the keyboard to control the sword, and I remember thinking it was horribly awkward. And you could chop off limbs. "Bloody hell!"

Edit: Die by the Sword!
You got it. Was not a bad game. Just had to get use to the controls.

How about this one? Bonus if you know what version it is.

Cannon Fodder, but no idea of the version, I only used to play on PC.
Pirates?

Edit: Enjoying this thread. Never realized how many games I missed growing up. Have to dig through my collection and see if anything can stump you guys. Probably not!
You got it! Impressive...
Yie Ar Kung Fu is #3.
Yie Ar Kung Fu! Good times.
Here's one... probably not hard by any means.

I already did that one and nobody has gotten it yet. Your pic might be easier though. Mine's a pic of the party approaching the last boss.

Inindo: Way of the Ninja?
Anyone wanna guess this one?

Just bumping one no one answered. It's for the sega saturn. I love this game, but looking at reviews everyone says it sucks, which may explain why no one knows it.
Continuing to represent old school PC gaming:

Might & Magic Book One: Secret of the Inner Sanctum.

Here's another one from me, though nobody answered my last one. This is actually a game I love, so I'm hoping for some love back:

Both correct.

Never heard of Shufflepuck Cafe til just now, but looking at the screenshot I think I would have loved it.

heh. sorry about that -- i just started looking at this thread and haven't had the time to go through all 20+ pages. :)

Edit: I had 2, but then I realized the name of the second game was right in the HUD for it... (Catacomb Abyss if anyone wanted to look it up.)

Crystallis (spelling might be off, but i absolutely played the hell out of it... until the cart's battery no longer worked!)

Dezuria's:

Second is Popful Mail? Must be - name says "Mail."
Third is....guh...Snatcher? Policenauts? Must be Snatcher. "Junker."

First one is...Noah's Psychodelia Pill Induced Bunny Flier Happy Ark Time?

Man, I've been at work, and I miss several I knew... Plus someone beat me to posting Crystalis... Curses!!! :) Well, here's a REALLY easy one, but it was one of my favorite games... Seriously, if you can't get this one...

Right you are....

I thought someone would have #2 by now.....look at the pic closely. Soooo easy, especially if you were raised in the 80s(and i think it's blatantly obvious that most of us in this thread were) :D

Jeeeez....Gremlins for Atari?......never thought that was an atari game, it looks pretty awful.

Gremlins is right. that's the Apple 2e version, i believe. the version i played was on some spinach colored screen, forget what kind of comp it was.
Ghostbusters for the Genesis.
Yup! I loved that game. Here's a couple to keep you busy... Two of the greatest sleep over games of their time...

Bluewing's last one is Toejam and Earl.

DT778's third one is California Games (the BMX stunt race level). I love that game. The first one looks like a GB version of Pole Position...

Yup. I loved the hacky sac, but I sucked at the half pipe.

Its not Pole Position.

looks like a SCUMM game. I'd have to guess Zak McKracken, since that's one of the few I've NOT played.

I agree with capitalist_mao that it looks like a SCUMM game, but it looks a little too nice to be Zak McKracken... The only one I can guess it looks like is The Dig, but it's been a long time since I've played that.

I think there was a 256 color version of Zak released at some point in time, much like there's both a 16 color and 256 color version of Indy and the last crusade and Loom. However, the head is too small. So, I'll keep diggin :D

Ok, so Strell got TJ&E and Darkside Hazuki got Gain Ground. I could play both of those games for hours...

Alright, time for something a little special. I threw together a group of six pictures. Now, I'll be the first to admit, these should be pretty easy to get, but there's a catch. To get this one right, you not only have to name all 6 games, but give the specific theme behind all six games. Also, to clear this up ahead of time, it's not that they're all _____ games, or that I drew numbers on the pictures. It's more than that... Good luck!

Special.jpg

1. mario 2
2. castlevania 3?
3. track and field?
4. adventure of link
5. dunno
6. tmnt 1

The theme is nes games.

other themes: all have green in them, all involve an action move (4 attacking, one climbing, one jumping), all involve characters with humanoid type bodies (ie. turtle in human form).

Could the theme be that they all have sequels on current gen consoles in 3D?

You got 3 right, and you're close on 2.
Could the theme be that they all have sequels on current gen consoles in 3D?
Not a bad theory, but not it...

Hmmm... I might have made this too hard, but what's life without challenge... I'll give a few hints to narrow it down...

1. The theme isn't about what's in or is happening in the pictures (e.g. not action poses or colors)
2. The games are in that order for a specific reason.

That's good for now. I'll try and drop more hints as needed.

Actually, it's castlevania 2. YOu can tell by the lack of crap on the top of the screen, and #5 is Ninja Gaiden.
Guess I gotta come up with one now:

I looked, but I didn't see anyone answer this one... Isn't it Bravoman for the TG-16?

Hmm, the only other thing I got is that all of these games are considered the worst of their respective family of games (worst Zelda game, worst mario game, worst TMNT game, etc). But, if the order means something, then you've got me.
I looked, but I didn't see anyone answer this one... Isn't it Bravoman for the TG-16?
That's why I knew the game! I couldn't figure out what the hell it was, but I knew I had it cause I've played it,though probably only for a few minutes.
