Guess the Game from the Screenshot
I think that may be Mean Streets (a Tex Murphy game).
Correct! It was remade ten years later as Overseer.

And that's Track and Field 2.

Looks like Time Lord.
Looks like Time Lord.
That's definitely Time Lord. It probably ranks up there as one of my most disappointing presents ever. I got Time Lord and Bad Street Brawler for my birthday one year. That was probably the same year that a lot of curse words entered my vocabulary.
Alright, time for something a little special. I threw together a group of six pictures. Now, I'll be the first to admit, these should be pretty easy to get, but there's a catch. To get this one right, you not only have to name all 6 games, but give the specific theme behind all six games. Also, to clear this up ahead of time, it's not that they're all _____ games, or that I drew numbers on the pictures. It's more than that... Good luck!
Let's see:

Super Mario 2 ------- Sept. 1, 1988
Castlevania 2 ------- Nov. 1, 1988
Track and Field 2 --- Feb. 1, 1989
Zelda 2 --------------- Dec. 1, 1988
Ninja Gaiden -------- May 1, 1989
TMNT ------------------ Feb 1, 1989

Think I know where your goin with this, but my dates of release (that I have found) are not in order. Unless you thinking of the releases being on the 1st of the month.

Edit: I'm finding that various sites have different dates. These are from IGN.

You're on the right track... Here's a hint that might help. It's more about the release of something else that involves each of these games. You've got the games right. You're very close.
Rogue Squadron?
Nope. If your refering to mine.

Edit: Bluewingx - Anthing to do with Nintendo Power's first issue?
Edit: I'm finding that various sites have different dates. These are from IGN.
gamefaqs is giving different dates for most of them (I looked them up seeing if they were all from different years, or what).

I think you just got it. First issue = Mario 2. Second = Castlevania 2 (with nightmare goodness). Third is the running shoes (so Track and Field). Zelda 2 with terrible actors + sleeping zelda. Ninja Gaiden with terribly generic ninja in front of a city. I don't remember the turtle's cover.

Ya. A winner is YOU

That's it! Between the two of you, you nailed it. It's the first year's worth of Nintendo Power covers. July/August 1989 through May/June 1990 (The TMNT cover). Hope you guys liked that one. I wanted to make a little more of a challenge. I'm going back to single shots, but let me know if you want me to come up with something like this again...

Man, my first Nintendo Power was the Castlevania IV issue. I didn't even think about that.
and

two of my favorite genesis games, even if they're well known
Vectorman and Batman and Robin (or is it Batman Forever?)

batman forever. it was so awesome because of all the weapon customization, the co-op, and the fact that you could play 1 on 1 or 2 on 2 versus. hard as shit though, back then i was a kid, so i used cheats all the time after i got tired of dying.

Nice little contest BlueWing. Pretty cool to see how everyone zeroed in on the theme. Ninja Gaiden was my all time favorite NES game (not sure why). I remember having fun with TMNT too.
Looks like Time Lord.
I liked it. I don't remember if I finished it though :whistle2:k .

and the load times.
correct on mystical ninja....the other game was the first RPG I ever played.
You put part of the game's title in the image file name. Hm, what classic RPG started with "Tunnels"... ;)

Bonus question:

What other game is playable within Legend of the Mystical Ninja? Also, where can you play it?

There are a few answers but I'm looking for one in particular. Pretty easy question.

Here's another from me, I dunno if it's "easy" or not, as people keep mentioning about their shots. Obviously it's easy if you played it or saw it and very hard if you haven't :)

I used to own this and actually beat this game, one of my prouder game accomplishments, given the horrid controls.

Edit: Actually I guess this is very easy, b/c you could just Google the characters in it or something. Oh well.

Gradius?

Edit: I forgot to say you can play it at the carnival.

Road Runners death valley?

DT got it, however the title ends with "rally" (RRDVR). And yes, Backlash, the game is stupidly hard, and the signs are TERRIBLE at pointing where you need to go.

Also Backlash was right with Gradius. I should have mentioned that. :)

Yep, Road Runner's Death Valley Rally. I was young enough (and there was no Internet for resarching) to get sucked in by the beautiful screens on the box. The game did indeed look nice, but the road runner handled like the proverbial dead whale on roller skates. As soon as I beat it I knew I would never, ever, ever play it again so I promptly traded it back in.
Since the other ones I've posted have been answered pretty much immediately, here's one that is probably less well-known:

That looks to me like an intellivison game, but I can't place which one.
woobacca, think you might have figured it out.....damn links.
Never mind me. The point of this thread is to remember games you enjoyed as a kid, not to make smartass remarks about titles in image filenames. If someone else hasn't figured it out yet, can you post the actual answer?

In the meantime:
Slightly more challenging than my last one:

It might be, but I have it on Atari 2600. Tons of two-player fun. It's one of the few 2600 games I still play.
Dunno why, but I loved this game as a kid.

Ghostbusters something....

Apossum's I can tell is an NES title....but after that I wouldn't know.... Xanac maybe?

Edit: Upon googling, it appears Xanac as a title doesn't exist. I could swear it did though....
